Below you'll find instructions for activating the
Cingular prepaid phone. We activated the Motorola C139 model.
We didn't encounter any issues during our activation, but if you did, please contact us and let us know so we can add the problem and the solution to Cingular prepaid guide.
What to do:
A couple of prep steps will make your Cingular activation a bit easier. First, find the credit card sized card containing a SIM chip.
Next, grab the packaging and locate the IMEI number on the bottom. It can also be found on the inside of the phone, behind the battery, but it's much easier if you take it off the packaging. Write it down.
Then scratch off the gray area on the front of the User Guide to reveal your activation PIN.
Now, slide the SIM card into it's slot, which is behind where the battery goes. Snap in the battery and the cover. Now charge it up.
To complete activation, go to Cingular's prepaid website -- http://www.cingular.com/activations. Select the "Pay as You Go" option under "GoPhone." That's where you'll need all the information you wrote down earlier. Or you can dial 1-877-426-0525.
Activation notes:
There are a few extra steps, but that's what you get with a SIM card. It's simple enough, though. I didn't encounter a single snag in the entire process. As long as you write all of your numbers down in advance, it should be a breeze. Just make sure you're familiar with the different plans available, which you can find at Cingular's GoPhone website. They also give you a $10 credit up front, which is neat.
