AT&T changes GoPhone data pricing

AT&T was discontinuing data plans for pay-as-you-go users. It appears that was just the first step in their planned changes. Now they’ve changed their prepaid data pricing tiers. They go into effect on Sunday, April 22. The first provides 50MB for $5 per month. The 200MB plan costs $15, and 1GB of data is available for $25 per month. Again, these are available only for $25 or $50 monthly GoPhone plan customers. Users can upgrade their plan or buy a new GoPhone at AT&T GoPhone’s website. Via Phone Scoop.]]>

I’m looking at switching to prepaid when my contract ends, and GoPhone was looking like a good option for my unique and changing needs. Their changes, however, don’t look as though they are promoting their prepaid customer base. At this point, Tracfone’s StraightTalk looks more appealing, with the option of changing from 1 month to the next between $30 and $45. With ST’s new BYO device plan, can you use your smartphone with the $30 plan, or will you be forced to use the $45 plan as with the Androids they offer?

AT&T – scammers. I had 400mb of data left on balance and they removed it.
