Bell Mobility pre-installs mobile backup application

We’ve seen many of the big providers in America go the way of remote backups for your personal data on your cell phone. It makes enough sense. How many times have you seen a mass email from a friend saying, “I lost my phone, and I have no contacts. Call me so I can add you.”? Plenty, for me at least. Losing your contacts can be one of the most frustrating aspects of cellular phone ownership. But with these backup assistants, you can store everything remotely, so when you lose or break your phone, you can just import them back into your new phone. Bell Mobility, in partnership with FusionOne, has released their backup program. But the best part is that they’re pre-installing the application on new handsets. Normally, the procedure with backup assistants is that you download the application right from your phone. While this isn’t a big deal for some people, namely those in America, the data transfer rates in Canada are ridiculous. So by pre-installing the software, Bell is saving you some cash you’d have to spend on the download. So hats off to them.

“We are very pleased to introduce FusionOne’s comprehensive address book backup and restore services to Canada,” stated Bell Mobility’s director of product management, Nauby Jacob. “They provide clients the peace of mind of knowing that the content of their mobile address book is protected and retrievable whenever they need it.”
The software is currently available on the LG Muziq and the Samsung r610, though it is being loaded onto Bell’s newest phones. It’ll cost you $3 per month for the service, but for those who go through a phone or two a year, it can be worth it. [Telecommunications Industry News]]]>
