Saving Data Tips: Facebook Video Autoplay

facebook

Autoplay videos are the bane of my existence, and they take up a surprising amount of data as well. So unless you are one of the lucky few who have unlimited Facebook access through your carrier, then you are probably wasting data on those stupid videos that no one really watches anyway. But, luckily, it’s not too hard to turn off this annoying feature and save your data for something you actually want to use it on! Here’s how: Apple Devices:
  1. Launch your Settings app
  2. Tap Facebook
  3. Tap ‘Settings’
  4. Under Video, select ‘autoplay’
  5. Select Off or Wifi Only
Android Devices:
  1. Launch the Facebook app
  2. Scroll over to the three bars on the far right to get to settings
  3. Tap on ‘app settings’
  4. Tap on ‘Video Autoplay’
  5. Select Off or Wifi only
At the time of writing, unfortunately, I don’t have a Windows phone on hand and couldn’t seem to find any tutorials specific to Windows phones. However if you have a Windows phone, I expect that this option will either be located inside the Facebook app, using basically the same process as the Android phone, or else located in your settings (specifically try under “Accounts” or “Apps”). If you have a Windows Phone, and you figure it out, let me know! What other data saving tips do you have? Share them with us in the comments!!]]>
