5 Essential Smartphone Tips for Travel

Summer is finally here, and that means that thousands of families will soon be booking vacations and hitting the road to visit friends, relatives or fun locations around the world! And, of course, you’re going to bring your smartphone along, right? So, why not let it do some of the work for you with these 5 essential tips:
  1. Download essential travel apps – Whether you’re road tripping it in your car, catching a plane or relaxing on a cruise, there are quite a few apps that will help you save money and find fun new places to visit.
  2. Load up on minutes – Be sure to refill your minutes before you go, or set up an autopay if your plan expires. The last thing you want is to have to interrupt your service on vacation because you forgot!
  3. Invest in a portable charger – They might not be as simple as replacing the battery, but you can pick up a portable charger or a car charger for pretty cheap just about anywhere online. Be sure it’s from a respected manufacturer though!
  4. Bring a backup phone – If there was ever a time when a backup phone was important, it would be when you’re miles away from home. Dig out one (or more) of those old devices you have and throw them in your car or your suitcase. Even if you don’t feel like activating service, they’ll be able to dial 911 or make wifi calls if you have access to the internet.
  5. Make good use of your old phone – Do you have a few old phones lying around? Why not reuse them as entertainment for the kids or as navigation devices and save the battery on your regular device! You can load these devices up with music, apps, maps or whatever else you like.
