PureTalk USA Overview

Originally launched in 2004, PureTalk USA isn’t a company that we write about a whole lot, mostly because its pricing isn’t anything super special. Regardless, this AT&T MVNO has a slightly different approach to plans and such, so I thought it was worth a brief look. At first glance, the plans through PureTalk look a little complicated, but really it isn’t. PureTalk has four different kinds of plans, and several tiers within those plans, some of which include data and some that don’t. To make things a little more complicated-looking, texts are not separate, but are actually pulled from the minute bucket. So while minutes are charged at a 1:1 ratio, you can send (and receive) 3 texts for every minute. Texting is charged for both incoming and outgoing. The Simple, Flex and Family plans can be built depending on how much data and minutes you need. Data is set as an add-on and is offered in two tiers:
• $10 – 400 MB/200 MMS
• $20 – 1 GB/400 MMB
The downside is that data overages are charged if you exceed the data. Overages are done in $4 increments for each 100 MB of data over the limit, to a minimum of $4. Not as bad as it could be, but still not the best. Anyway, here are the plan options:
• Simple Plan (No rollover)
• $5 for 80 minutes
• $10 for 250 minutes
• $15 for 500 minutes
• $20 for 1000 minutes
• Flex Plan (rollover)
• $10 for 160 minutes
• Family Plan (no rollover, additional lines gain 70 extra minutes)
• $10 for 160 minutes
• $20 for 400 minutes
• $30 for 700 minutes
• $40 for 1100 minutes
• $50 for 1500 minutes
Additionally, PureTalk USA offers unlimited plans which, as the name implies, include unlimited talk and text and a limited amount of data. Data overages are charged as mentioned above, in $4 increments per 100 MB of data.
• $34.95 for unlimited talk and text, 500 MB data, 400 MMS
• $40.95 for unlimited talk and text, 1 GB data, unlimited MMS
• $49.95 for unlimited talk and text, 2 GB data, unlimited MMS
PureTalk USA doesn’t really have much of a selection of phones, but customers are allowed to bring compatible devices. For more information, check out the PureTalk USA website.]]>
