Sprint Prepaid to get 2015 Moto E for $100

Motorola has continued its trend of releasing updated versions of popular handsets with the upcoming release of the slightly upgraded Moto E. This low-end device initially shipped last year with a price tag of $130 and was designed as the low-end options for the Moto G and Moto X lovers out there. The 2015 version is not only cheaper, but has slightly upgraded specs. Here are some of the expected changes:
  • Internal storage upgraded to 8GB from 4 GB
  • Screen increased from 4.3 to 4.5 inches
  • Phone supports 4G LTE (old Moto E was 3G)
  • Android Lollipop (vs Kitkat)
  • 0.3 MP front camera (no front camera on 2014 Moto E)
Unfortunately, the phone sports a TFT display, which means viewing angles will be less superior. As far as I can gather, other features such as chipset, RAM and CPU are pretty comparable to the 2014 Moto E. The device is still firmly an entry-level device, but those specs aren’t half bad for $100. Liliputing reported that the phone will be available through Sprint prepaid, and said that the device was listed on Best Buy earlier, although it is not available just yet. When I checked, the device and all details had been removed from the site. I don’t doubt that other carriers will also support this phone, although I haven’t seen any indication of which ones will.]]>
