Virgin, LG team up for youth homeless awareness

There seems to be a national event that revolves around each month of the year. And we’re not talking meaningful ones, like Black History month. We’re talking about frivolous ones, like National Frozen Food Month (February). This one, though new, isn’t quite as irrelevant. November is the first annual National Homeless Youth Awareness Month, surely a worthy cause. And to help kickstart awareness, Virgin and LG are teaming up to auction off six hand-painted Aloha by LG phones. These phones will be auctioned off at the inaugural event for National Homeless Youth Awareness Month (NHYAM), the RE* Generation Gallery 2007 Auction and Benefit. The auction is one of several parts of the event, which also include the official Congressional declaration. It will take place November 7 at Skylight Gallery in New York City.

“We are impressed and gratified with LG Mobile Phones’ dedication in joining our efforts to raise awareness about this national crisis. The RE*Generation commissioned artists offer their personal depictions on the Aloha(TM) by LG handsets of what it’s like to be alone and living on the fringe for millions of homeless youth,” said Dan Schulman, CEO of Virgin Mobile USA, in a Monday statement.
We always appreciate companies teaming up to benefit the less fortunate. We won’t get into politics or anything, but this is an issue that we must deal with as a nation. LG and Virgin, no matter what their corporate ulterior motives, if any, are doing some good by sponsoring this event. [TMCnet]]]>
