InfoSpace teams with Virgin and Verizon to enhance mobile experience

InfoSpace, a company devoted to online and mobile software and hosting, have announced a new partnership with Verizon Wireless and Virgin Mobile (in the UK; not in the US). They’re offering access to many of their mobile technologies to subscribers of those services. The platform is called “mCore,” and it provides access to the following services: mCore Search: This is a huge selling point for InfoSpace. It helps customers find what they’re looking for, and operators to monetize the search results. mCore Portal: Access to a vast number of content types. mCore Storefront: If you thought purchasing things over the Internet was a cakewalk, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet. mCore Messaging: Easier than text messaging (if that’s possible). mCore Managed Web: It’s a quick way to search the web through your phone. So you may be wondering why this is necessary. After all, both companies have similar programs in place. It appears, though, that mCore is more efficient and more customer-based than the operators’ existing applications. That, and all of InfoSpace’s applications are geared towards generating revenue for the operators. You’ll be getting a good product…but beware the advertising. [Search Engine Land] [InfoSpace]]]>
