Cricket to offer service in Atlantic City?
Cricket wireless is expanding their coverage area, and plan to double their covered POPs by 2009. This will be accomplished by rolling out service in Seattle; Minneapolis; Milwaukee; Chicago; Philadelphia; Baltimore; Washington, D.C.; Richmond and Virginia Beach, Va.; Columbia and Greenville, S.C.; Huntsville, Mobile and Birmingham, Ala.; Biloxi, Miss.; New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette, La. One city you don’t see on that list is Atlantic City, New Jersey, but it sounds like the company will offer services in AC next year. When I spoke to Greg Lund at CTIA in April, he mentioned that Cricket is looking to bolster their coverage by offering three markets strung together. He used the examples of Portland, Salem, and Eugene, Oregon, and Rochester, Syracuse, and Buffalo in New York. Then he mentioned future coverage areas, mentioning Baltimore, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia. It looks like Atlantic City will be part of that string. The plan, as I read in the Press of Atlantic City, is to string AC along with Philadelphia and Wilmington, Delaware. Perhaps this strategy will allow them coverage in more areas and make best use of their spectrum. Next stop: Northeast.]]>
