Virgin Mobile offers phone insurance
December 1, 2010/
Earlier in the year Boost Mobile made something of a splash by offering handset insurance. Most prepaid carriers do not offer this, so it was novel at the time. Now it appears that Sprint’s other prepaid arm, Virgin Mobile, is prepared to do the same. It costs $5 per month, and you can see the deductible chart above. As expected, it’s $100 per claim for the higher end devices, and a bit lower as you move down the line. You have to register for insurance within 15 days of buying a new handset. it is LOST
$60 a year to pay for limited coverage of the phone. Gotta consider how much your phone is worth, how long you plan on keeping it (before “the next one”). Is paying $180 over 3 years worth the coverage of the phone? Only if it is a high end smartphone, I’d say.
