AT&T to actually provide good service in New York!

Any of you out there live in the New York City area and have AT&T. We know a couple of folks like that. They know we run this blog, so they’re constantly complaining to us about their service with AT&T. It doesn’t get good reception in many places, and despite what their recently pulled ads claimed, they dropped more than their share of calls. You’d think that in a city like New York, AT&T would make sure to have adequate coverage. You’d think wrong, though. That is, until the US Open comes to town. For that event, AT&T plans to roll out portable Cell Site on Wheels (COW, though we have no idea how it’s not CSW) to improve coverage out in Flushing. No, this won’t help you much if you’re in downtown Manhattan. Really, this is just an opportunity to lash out at AT&T for their poor coverage in the busiest city in America. Of course, they’d never admit to any deficiency in service; in fact, all they talk about is how much they’ve done in the area.

Since 2004, AT&T has invested $1.2 billion in metropolitan New York and New Jersey in network enhancements, including adding more than 500 new cell sites.
Fat lot of good that did. We don’t have AT&T (and never will), but the friends we have with it haven’t complained any less since 2004. And really, isn’t that the true measuring stick of a cell service? They all have plenty of shortcomings, so the one about which customers complain the least is king in the area. In New York, AT&T is not. So thanks, we guess, for the added coverage to the US Open. Afterwards, if you could roll those COWs into the financial district, that would be great. Thanks.
