GoPhone roaming available in Mexico
November 16, 2007/
Traveling to Mexico? Now you can bring your AT&T GoPhone with you. The company announced this week that roaming will be available “as soon as subscribers enter Mexican territory.” It will be a seamless transition, and there will be no activation or special plans required. In addition, all features of your AT&T GoPhone will be available south of the border. This might prove convenient for Americans, as Mexico was the top international destination for U.S. travelers in 2006.
“At AT&T, we strive to provide our customers with the convenience and flexibility to call the U.S. when traveling to Mexico,” said Roberto Garcia, executive director of Marketing for AT&T’s wireless unit. “GoPhone gives customers the spending control, outstanding convenience and savings that they have come to expect from the leader in prepaid wireless service. When going to Mexico, make sure you go with GoPhone.”It won’t be cheap: 99 cents per minute. But at least there’s the convenience of seamless transition. Still. 99 cents. [AT&T]]]>

I purchased a V557 Motorola go phone specifically to use in Guadalajara and it would not pick up a signal. AT&T worked on it for 30 minutes, while I used my contract phone (in Mexico) and said that the receiver in the gophone is not strong enough. My contract phone is also a V557 Motorola and that works great in Mexico. Any comments on this?
I have a motorola v197 quad-band phone and was in Puerto Vallarta for one week and could not make any calls out. i kept getting messages in spanish saying the call could not got through. Or the screen would say call faqiled, However I could dial to get my account total. I think it is the mexican partnet Telcel that is the problem- so dont expect your go-phoen to work at this time.
