Boost gives Louisiana, Texas customers a roaming break
September 2, 2008/
Boost Mobile came through. They suspended roaming charges for those customers evacuating Louisiana and Texas. Kudos to them for not exploiting a natural disaster for their own profit. Then again, should we congratulate a company for doing the right thing?
“I was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and my parents still live there so I know first hand how hurricanes can disrupt the lives of family and friends,” said Boost Mobile President Matt Carter. “We want to quickly get the word out to our customers in Louisiana and Texas who may need to temporarily relocate out of the area, and provide them with some relief during this difficult time.”The major carriers were all at work during this disaster. T-Mobile took a number of precautions, including increasing network capacity in order to handle the anticipated bevy of activity. Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T all reportedly spent plenty of money getting things up to speed. The carriers offered some advice for those affected. This includes sending SMS rather than calling, keeping your phone dry, and taking camera phone pictures of damaged property for insurance purposes. Here’s to hoping for the least possible damage through all of this.]]>
