Boost Mobile launches BlackBerry Curve 8330, Sanyo models
January 27, 2010/
Boost Mobile was going to launch the BlackBerry Curve 8330 and a pair of Sanyo models, so it’s not much news when we hear that they did. They’re now available on Boost’s website. I just wanted to drop a note, however, clarifying the monthly rate for the BlackBerry. In our initial post we noted that it cost $70 per month, because that’s what we saw at the time. This is not true. The Prepaid Boost BlackBerry service will cost $60 per month. ]]>

Finally! A Prepaid Smartphone! The bad news is that it’ll run you and me $250 bucks. That price will have to come down to make it work. Let’s hope so. Make it happen so it would truly be an alterative to contract service.
Cheap phone, expensive airtime.
Expensive phone, cheap airtime. Take your pick. They will never give it all to you in one package.
Just purchases two of these phones. They are GREAT! and have everything that a contract based Blackberry does. If you are considering it, I’d say GO FOR IT!
Have had Boost Mobile for a year and decided to upgrade when the Blackberry 8330 was available. Great phone and great service. Sure the phone is expensive, but you will get that back in less than six months based on the service cost savings.
Sorry about typo. it’s Alternative. Second, I still want the price to come down so anyone can indeed have a real smartphone. Third. I have a smartphone called the Motorola “Q”. I want to activate it. I’m it can be. I’m just not looking in the right place. Please Serious Ideas Ok?
Does anyone know if there are any texting delays with the Blackberry? I read a lot of reviews about Boost having delayed texts.
Phone is pricey but still comes out to be about 400 dollars cheaper a year than contracted services! Plus no other phone boost offers hales in comparison as the blackberry and all the free apps!
Sucks i just purchased the i465 (the boost that resembles a blackberry). But yea alot of the times i do get delayed texts it sucks. but the blackberry curve 8330 is ran on sprints 3G network because sprint is upgrading to 4G so unless sprints 3G network has delayed texts then i would say no.
i love my blackberry 8330 by boost i get all my text msg rite away and it does everything a contract bbm do i just love it i just hope it dont break lik my otha boost phones. $250 was a lot of money for phone but its ard cuz its like havin a mini laptop in pocket book AND THE CAMERA IS AMAZING
i purchased this phone 3 days ago since my Blackberry Storm (aka worthless brick !) took a dump on me. and honestly, it pretty much does the exact same things as the Storm but MUCH faster. you can take a picture lickity split instead of the massive lag with the Storm. Only down side is if you have big meat hands the keyboard may pose to be a problem. you could always go to a retailer to try it out. So far, i like it better than my storm and the monthly payment is just the cherry on top. Since I have 2 email accounts on it ive been going back and forth to see if there was any lag in receiving messages. i receive them within 10 seconds. same applys for text messaging. As far as dropped or horrible sound quality ??…i haven’t had any. Unfortunately all carriers has splotchy areas, so you may want to ask somebody that you know if they have Sprint to see if they have any complaints. This is a great phone !! Just make sure that you update the software when you get it !!
does it matter what nextwork its from? does it have to be sprint or can it be from us cellular, att and still work with boost?
or verizon
I’ve been leaving comments everywhere about this. I’m a boost mobile customer. Have been since their $50 nationwide plan with unlimited talk text and web. I bought the Blackberry for Boost a month ago with the $60 everything plan I also payed for a replacement plan. The phone is a little older but it works well. I can sync itunes with it so that’s no problem. And it’s just a great phone. I honestly don’t see anything negative about this.

The deal cannot be beat for 60.00 a month. I am glad I made the switch…There is no service in a few remote ares but otherwise no issue. I like the no BS when it comes to the bill.
a++++++
I have a question. I to am a boost $50 a month plan customer. Currently I have a dinosaure nextel that I have converted to a boost plan. I have kept the super old phone because its will servive a nueclear holocast. Now my question is, how durrible is the BlackBerry Curve. I have already purchased it and am in the process of activating it, but i would like to hear the “horror” stories people have of their BlackBerry, and how it held up.
I don’t here very good things about boost mobile though. My father has them and says his call quality is terrible and that there is a huge delay on his texts.
I have been BoostMobile customer on $50 plan for sometime and had so called smart phone. It was fine for text and calls, but sucked for web and email (they charged extra for email). But I have just gotten the Blackberry Curve 8330 and $60 plan. I love it. The blackberry is great. The web is great and email is free and very easy to use. Free info calls as well. The web is very user friendly. Blackberry has lots of free apps you can get including a great Google map download that even has bicycle directions and will find your location by the cell towers near you, instead of GPS. Which is good, because the GPS function sucks on BoostMobile and sucks all the energy bars off your phone. But that is only drawback. It is a flat $60 a month (including tax), so you always know what your bill will be and if you get auto reboost, you never have to think about it, because it automatically takes it out of Credit Card or Debit card. But you are not locked in to contract. You can look up your acct online and add apps and rings. Also when you sign up for auto reboost, they give you $20, which you can use to buy apps and rings with or to pay for calls to overseas locations or incoming calls from overseas (not included). Then they give you $2 each auto reboost. Only other drawback is that it does not work when you are traveling overseas. I just rent a phone for area I am going to, such as Egypt.
This phone is now $150 on the boost website so you can count me in 🙂
can you unlock phones and use with boost?
This is my first boost mobile phone, and i’m glad I’m starting with the blackberry. I had a tmobile blackberry 8310 and i loved it however i couldn’t be on the a call and the internet at the same time. On this bb i can do that. I purchased mine for $199 on HSN and 3 payments of $66.00, so that helped alot in cost and also i get 1 month free service with some accessories. I just love blackberry it is user freindly….GO FOR IT!!!!
I bought the 8330 Curve in March of 2010.
On New Years Eve (2010) I bought the 8530 Curve from Boost Mobile, This is a much better BB then the 8330, more RAM, track pad instead of track ball & has WiFi. It was also $200 instead of $250.

Same great $60 a month unlimited service but now with “shrinkage”
There seems to be delays in texting when phones on the IDEN network are used. Which is odd because the Motorola I1 runs on that network. I have to see the reviews on that. Otherwise any new phone on the CDMA network runs great.
