Leap focusing on current assets in 2010
Leap Wireless CFO Walter Berger spoke at the Goldman Sachs’ Inaugural Technology, Media & Telecom Leveraged Finance Conference. While I was not in attendance, Dan Meyer of RCR Wireless was. He reports on what Mr. Berger said about his company, though we can pretty much imagine what that entails. The company does not plan to add any major markets this year. Instead it will focus on the markets that it built out in 2009, trying to increase subscriber adoption in those areas. We also should not expect any 4G movement from the company in the near future. While they say they will “begin testing” a 4G solution this year, they don’t figure to be nearly as aggressive as rival MetroPCS. In other words, the plan is laid out. Cricket wants to see how its mix of more advanced 3G phones with entry-level devices works before making any big moves. ]]>
