Tips for Charging Your Battery Faster

We’ve all done it: You’re on your way out the door and you pick up your phone only to realize that the battery is on its last few percentages. Well, if your don’t have a spare battery to swap out, then here are some tips to charge that sucker as fast as possible so you’re not late:
  1. Use the right charger – Off-brand chargers are not only dangerous, but don’t work as well. Try and stick with the charger that came with your phone or one that is specifically designed for your device for the fastest charging.
  2. Turn off your phone – If you can stand to have the phone off for a bit, this can really improve charge times as nothing will be draining the battery while you recharge it. My phone can go from single digits to 100% in under an hour when it’s powered off, vs a couple of hours when on. The amount of time this will save will vary from phone to phone.
  3. Put your phone in Airplane mode – If you don’t want to turn your phone off, place it in airplane mode so it’s using fewer resources while charging. Needless to say, don’t use the device while it’s charging for best results.
  4. Charge it inside – Technology is very sensitive to temperature, so if possible charge your phone indoors and out of direct sunlight. It won’t make that much of a difference, but you DID say you were in a hurry, right?
  5. Perform battery maintenance – Apple recommends that users occasionally drain their batteries completely for the health of your smartphone battery, and don’t worry–while this would kill the life of older batteries, for the modern Lithium batteries, it isn’t as bad as you think.
