Tips for Making Calls with Horrible Reception

senior on cell

It’s happened again. You pull out your phone to make that all-important call to wish Aunt Marge a happy birthday, but your phone can’t decide if it has service or not. Whatever are you to do?! Well, here are some tips for making the most out of that 1 bar of 2G that your phone is precariously hanging on to!
  1. Go outside and find a clear area, as cell reception is generally better outdoors.
  2. When you’re wandering looking for signals, give your phone a few minutes to find a stronger signal.
  3. If you are indoors, move away from large appliances (especially microwaves).
  4. If you are inside, many times signal will be stronger near windows and doors.
  5. Find an area where you have service and stay still. No, seriously, don’t move an inch. OR Get a Bluetooth headset, and simply leave your phone in the best signal spot then wander to your heart’s content!
  6. Consider buying an external antenna to boost your signal.
  7. Give up an try Wifi calling via one of these great apps instead.
  8. Text instead; many times texts will go through when calls will not.
  9. Borrow someone else’s phone. (Always works for me!)
