MetroPCS Adds Affordable Samsung Phones
October 14, 2014/
The T-Mobile owned MetroPCS has announced that they will be adding two additional Samsung phones this month to their phone lineup. The Samsung Galaxy Light is available today for $150 and the Samsung Galaxy Avant will be available later this month for the same price point. They currently have a deal going on for $100 rebate off of the Galaxy Light, but online inventory is slightly limited, so you might have better luck going to an actual store.
While I feel like just about every phone I write about falls under this category, both of these phones are good mid-level phones with decent specs and 4G connectivity. The Samsung Galaxy Avant has slightly different hardware than the Galaxy Light, with a slightly larger screen, slightly more RAM and storage capacity (including the SD slot). The Avant has 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor that is clocked at slightly slower than the Light’s 1.4 GHz quad-core processor, but with more RAM the two devices likely offer a similar user experience. The Light has a ‘scratch-resistant’ glass screen while the Avant does not.
So, basically it is going to come down to personal preference as to which phone is better, as they are remarkably similar. Samsung has been going after the mid-range market aggressively, and these two phones are simply another jab at that growing segment. My advice would be to try and make it to a MetroPCS store so you can hold each phone in your hand and decide which you’d rather go with that way. To locate a MetroPCS store near you, click here.]]>
