MetroPCS doesn't see a need for Leap merger
September 23, 2010/
MetroPCS and Cricket, but we haven’t seen any actual movement since 2007. Earlier this year we heard intensified rumors, but instead saw the companies maneuver in ways that would allow them to continue operating independently. It looks like it might remain that way for a while. Speaking at a Goldman Sachs Group Inc. event, MetroPCS CEO Roger Linquist said that falling handset costs make a merger less necessary (Link: BusinessWeek). I still think the merger eventually happens, just because I’m not sure how long they can continue on as regional carriers. But from the words and actions of both companies it doesn’t look that will happen any time soon. ]]>
