added over a half million subscribers in the fourth quarter of last year, and now have over 5.4 million total subscribers. This might not slow down anytime soon, as they’re poised to gain during an economic downturn. Further helping their situation is their recent service launch in Waco, Texas (via Phone Scoop).
“Waco is a key market for MetroPCS,” said Tracy Lange, vice president and general manager, for MetroPCS’ Texas and Louisiana markets. “As a new member of this community, MetroPCS demonstrates its commitment to the area by offering consumers, both residents and college students, in Waco a new, more flexible and affordable option for unlimited wireless service. Our flat-rate, unlimited, low cost service plans make MetroPCS an affordable, worry-free and planned expense for all value-oriented consumers looking to reduce extra spending and streamline their budgets in today’s economy. We believe we will be the natural choice of wireless service for Waco residents.”This helps expand Metro’s already-large texas presence. They currently offer service in Dallas/Fort Worth, Tyler, Longview, Marshall, Kilgore and Shreveport and Bossier City, Louisiana. Beyond that, their roaming plan includes Leap Wireless territories of Temple, Killeen, Austin, San Antonio and Houston. ]]>
