MetroPCS to also get HTC Desire Android handset?

It wasn’t long ago that we learned about an Android device headed to MetroPCS. The Motorola device shouldn’t be that far off, but that won’t be the end of Metro’s Android dealings. Via Brighthand we learn that they might be getting the HTC Desire, pictured above. While Metro was not specifically announced as a carrier, HTC did say it was coming to “select regional operators,” which makes Metro a good candidate. There are other regional carriers that could fit — US Cellular, for instance, and others that have postpaid services. But considering Metro’s status as fifth largest primary carrier in the country, I imagine they’d be high on the list of potential regional carriers. Look for the handset in August. ]]>

    WAITING FOR HTC DESIRE

  9. Randy on July 14, 2010 at 11:23 pm

Seems to me, that despite how desirable the HTC Desire would be on Metro, with the new LTE system planned for later this year by all accounts, why waste the money. Not to mention, that the current PCS system is sooooo sloooow for web browsing, the functions of the HTC phone would be lost in process.

Metro is the fifth largest carrier in the U.S. at this time. If Metro intends on being taken seriously, they will need to “Man Up” and get name brands of “QUALITY” equipment.
Metro wants to sit at the adult table now, but they still do not understand how to act. This Snoop Doggg thing is a train wreck waiting to happen. Do not promote your product to mainly one segment of the American public like you have done in Detroit, Atlanta and Boston…….. Diversify and do your market analysis of the products people want for your LTE network in ALL segments of your customer base.
I am sure that there are people that want a $9.99 phone for whatever reason and that is fine. But, those that want to make full use of the new LTE network will want a good quality ANDROID and hopefully it will be an HTC or better version from Samsung that will have longer than a three (3) hou8rs battery life.
Forget the $9.99 throw down phones and as they say… GO BIG OR GO HOME!!!
    Just in my humble opinion………….

I just switched to metropcs and bought the Samsung Indulge. I still have 2 weeks left before I can turn it in or keep it. Now that I want the HTC I don’t want to invest in this phone when the one I really want is coming out soon. I need a cheap phone to carry me through August. Any ideas — then I can turn this one in and wait for htc.

@ Abbie is it true? Is this phone really cominig to metro pcs? Ive googled it and saw no current articals (2011) on when this phone would be released. I hope this phone does come to metro pcs cause I have done the research and the phone is awsome. I’m ready to dump this blackberry and get something more faster.

  20. Dee on June 24, 2011 at 2:28 pm

Is the phone truly coming to metro pcs or is this a mere rumor? Ive done searches on the phone cominig to metro pcs but nothing has been confirmed. If this phone really is cominig to metro pcs when? and what will be the price range on it?
