New plans coming from Page Plus in August?

Howard Forums have heard that Page Plus will launch a new plan, or new plans, on August 1. Again, this is not confirmed. The rumor is that it will be an all-in unlimited plan, much like the recent wave we’ve seen from Boost Mobile and Straight Talk. We’ll obviously follow this one until we get official word — or don’t get official word, depending on whether this rumor has legs. ]]>

The buzz Joe is that there is a master agent for Page Plus who is signing up massive amounts of indie dealers under him because of the strength of the new plan. SUPPOSEDLY, it is an UNLIMITED EVERYTHING Talk/text/web plan for 39.95.
I would LOVE to believe this as it would swat out newcomer unlimited Straight Talk out of the sky.
But as Straight Talk has a six month “wait and see” clause from Verizon , plus it is more expensive and has less web available, I have a hard time believing it completely. Why would Verizon put strings on one mvno and let loose on another which would be way more of a threat? (Page Plus has the ability to use ANY Verizon phone on their network vs. Straight Talk’s measly threesome of older phones, plus unlimited web? Especially when Verizon is KNOWN to be miserly with this resource. At a lower price?
I would LOVE if this comes true. Word is between August 1-September 1. I wonder what impact this will have on their 4 month old 39.95 talk n’text
1500 minute/text plan and their just announced heavy (but not unlimited) text packages back in May?
Plus their long running unlimited talk for 1.99-2.49 a day? All those plans would be impacted if not rendered redundant overnight.
If this is true, it will have the far greater industry impact of changing the $50 unlimited everything pricepoint to $40 nationwide.
The main thing holding this pundit’s enthusiasm back is how generous do we think Verizon will really be with a company that could very possibly bite the very hand that feeds it with a plan and rate like that? (As well as threaten every prepaid carrier in the business).
Sprint has just fired multiple defensive salvoes in the unlimited prepaid war, bringing its cdma Boost price down to $50 to match iden’s offering, allowed mvno Kajeet to offer unlimited talk/text for $50 (till Sept 30), had mvno Ready Mobile reannouce their 3 day/one week unlimited plans. They are not sitting around, but unlimited everything for $40? On a better coverage network?
Is the price war just gonna be over or what?

Looks like the it NOT unlimited talk/text/web. It is reportedly unlimited talk/text and 20 megs of web. VERY close to Straight Talk’s unlimited talk/text/30 megs web. Makes way more sense then unlimited, especially considering that Verizon is tight with web resources.
There might be other plans. At this point, it is all pure speculation. Could be standalone data plan or unlimited text pack. They both make sense in light of the rapidly changing prepaid landscape.
I hope the unlimited talk/text/20 meg pack is coming true. Not as good as Metro or Cricket in the data area, but the Verizon coverage compensates for that.

Supposed to be coming out August 6, 2009.
Looks like a direct response to Straight Talk.

    Update:
    Unlimited talk/text/20 megs web 39.95
    1200 min/1200 text/20 megs 29.95
    500 min/500 text 19.95
    Unlimited text 19.95
Data bundle monthly plan usb 44.95.
    Released throughout August.
Looks like they aren’t going to run from Straight Talk. Notice how similar their Talk n Text unlimited and 1200 plans are compared to Straight Talk in quantity, structure and price.

Changed my mind abt this company. You get what you pay for. Back to and sticking with Tmobile. If you have a problem trying to change your handset or there website etc forget about it. And not the nicest people when you call they dont even set hold times
