They’re now offering low per-minute and per-message rates that will help them compete with other MVNOs. Whether they can hang with the big players mentioned above remains to be seen. The new pay-as-you-go rate, dubbed Real Paygo, is just 5 cents per minute, which represents one of the lowest rates in the industry. Text messaging is even cheaper, just two cents a message. Picture messages will cost 10 cents each, and mobile web will cost 10 cents per megabyte. All of the accoutrements will come standard, including long distance, voicemail, caller ID, call waiting, and three-way calling. Subscribers can refill their Real Paygo accounts with one of five top-up cards, ranging from $10 to $100. The earliest minute expiration will rise with the card’s denomination, starting with 90 days for the $10 card and 365 days for the $100 card.
