Virgin launches steaming music phone
October 22, 2007/
Well, these Virgin Mobile phones just keep getting better. Just last month they announced the Super Slice, and now they’re launching the Wild Card, their first phone with the capability to stream music. While it’s a neat idea, there are several financial drawbacks to the service. See, that streaming music ain’t free. First you have to sign up for Headliner, the application that streams said music. That’s $2.49 per month. Not too bad, you say, if you can stream all those songs. Ah, but it costs 25 cents to listen to a song. Yes, you pay a subscription fee and have to pay to listen to a song. Want to listen to it again? That’s another two bits. And then if you want unlimited messaging, it’s another $20 per month. That includes text messages, instant messages, e-mail, and picture messaging. Thankfully, the phone only costs $100. It may seem like a lot, but for a prepaid service it’s a deal.
