Straight Talk adds Samsung 390G

Just a quick note on a new handset from Straight Talk. The Samsung 390G is a pretty basic QWERTY handset, featuring a low-res screen, 2-megapixel camera, and microSD expansion up to 32GB. This actually pairs perfectly with Straight Talk’s All You Need plan, which provides 1,000 minutes, 1,000 messages, and 30MB of data for $30 per month. That’s plenty for a handset like this. You can get the Samsung 390G and a plan at Straight Talk’s website. Via Howard Forums.]]>

This info is pretty useless as most folks want to know what carrier (network) the phone will be operating from.

Is this phone set up for the headset or bluetooth only? Because it sure stinks for calls using the speaker, it’s so low!

Since the phone says 390g, I assume the towers it uses will be the AT&T or T-Mobile local towers that require a SIM card for gsm. The carrier (who gets paid) is StraightTalk, a TracFone company. That responds to Paul. I do not have the phone and wanted to know something about the quality of its WiFi, the browser it uses, the ability to download apps and restrictions. I understand that its WiFi allows TracFone or StraightTalk users to connect with WiFi without using up the minutes allotted on a limited plan. So I’d like to know if Skype, for example, can be downloaded so that–if I get the phone–when I am near a hotspot I can also CALL without using up TracFone or ST minutes.

I can vouch for the wifi. Works great at work (unsecured network) and home (secured Linksys network). This is exactly why I got the phone!

Go to amazon, they have over a hundred reviews there. I know the accidental dialing of 911 is one of them, when carrying it. Button cannot be locked out.
