people, people, what r u saying? alltel is perhaps the best prepaid plan there is out there. i will say this, if u r a business person and use ur phone to make and receive calls, i dont recommend prepaid service to u. however, alltel’s prepaid service is great. i have been an alltel customer user for 3 years now and i love it. i dont use my phone to call that much but i do txt alot and have unlimited nights and weekends and favorite number calling. dont blame the service of alltel if ur phone sucks, do research and pick out a good phone. for instane, i have an alltel service moto q (smartphone) that i bought on ebay for $100. u just gotta know how to use the service. trust me on this, for unlitmited nights and weekends option get a phone with the internet explorer application or 3rd party browser other than that cheap alltel browser. trust me there r ways around this, i know this for a fact. alltels service is good, i have never had a problem with the customer service. since alltel and verizon has merged it makes the network just much more bigger. so switch over. other prepaid plans sucks and will take away ur money. for example right now im typing this review on my moto q and im browsing the net for free. its all how u look at it, and ur options. well take my word for it, it is worth it. and buy ur alltel phones on ebay or amazon, dont buy it from stores, they do have some better prices in store but look, my moto q was never meant for prepaid service, im probably only 1 who has this. so do ur research b4 switching and buying a phone. good luck.

I had to take my daughter two states away for prolonged medical treatment, so bought alltel because of their (so-called)nationwide service area. When I tried to make a call the “operator” said something about re-dialing the number. Heck, I’m 65 so can’t remember my home phone number. I would need to pull off the interstate to make a call. When I called customer service asking how to correct this problem, he hung up on me. If they won’t take this crap back and return my money, I want to see if they hang up on the judge in small claims court.

I like alltel a lot I have other carriers such as virgin mobile, Verizon, tracphone and At&t. Out of all of this alltel is the best. Only 75 cents a day for 2 unlimited features is sweet. I like texting whenever I want and don’t have to worry about being charged extra. The service is really good with alltel. I think I have only had no service twice which is great. Great job alltel. Keep getting better!

They don’t bother to tell you that you are roaming if you are sitting in the parking lot of the Alltel building in downtown Little Rock! (Or any where else in LR or Hot Springs) Kind of stupid for an Arkansas based carrier, huh.

we’ve had alltel prepaid about 1 1/2 yrs. we don’t have to double dial, i only know what that is because i had to do it when visiting my sister out of state, and that was just the denver area. i’ve been to NYC, OK, KS, IA, SD, NE, MO and never had a problem with that. the pay per day is super cheap bec all the people we call are on alltel also. the customer service sucks. bad. rude, not helpful, doesn’t understand what you’re talking about. i’ve had “surprise” charges and had web access completely turned off so it wouldn’t happen again. they give you a one-time refund, so be sure you know exactly how much you lost. voicemail now costs 10 cents per message you receive. i had that turned off, too. other than that, my husband and i spend about $80/mo for both phones and we are happy enough. we’re nervous about verizon taking over–their contracts are better deals than their prepaid, so we’ll see what happens with that.

Overall it’s pretty good service however im usually roaming in my own house. Also, they have days when they just shut down the towers for repairs but they don’t tell you and it still takes money off your account. Like today for example, i can’t make any calls because im roaming everywhere i go. Last month i went 2 days without texting and they said they couldn’t refund my money because it was not their fault. When you call customer service, no one knows what is going on and they transfer you all over and keep you on hold for hours. But, other than these few days, it has been pretty decent service.

All I have to say about alltel prepaid is that it’s GREAT!!!! I been with alltel prepaid since the first day I got my 1st phone and it’s been my bestfriend. How can anyone NOT love it..I mean if you love to text as much as I do then it’s perfect. If you love to talk to your friend, talk them into getting an alltel prepaid and everyone talks free. It’s simple as that! Alltel prepaid is the best and I know by experiences!

Alltel is the most uncustomer service company I have ever dealt with. First of all activating this prepared phone is the most frustrating thing I have ever had to do online. Alltell is not willing to help their customers, they are only interested in selling, selling & forgetting you after the sale. STAY AWAY FOR ALLTEL

I bought the prepaid phone on Nov. 20, 2008. Activated it the same day. On Dec. 26 it started losing signal, two days later it wouldn’t get any signal. When I called customer service they told me it was not something they could fix over the phone, it was a physical problem and that if the phone was still under the 1 yr. manufacturer’s warranty it would be replaced. This is a little frustrating, becuase I have little kids, I need a phone if I have an emergency. I sent it in, and they just sent it back today saying that the phone had been ‘misused’ because the charging port had some bent wires. No, it does not have a problem charging. I took very good care of this phone, I did not misuse it. I even have the plastic shield on the screen still! I’m so disapointed. And, I can’t get a refund for the minutes that I have on my account and I now can’t use. It won’t even work for calling 911. What a waste of money!

NO STARS!!!Awful!!I had the worst time ever activating this stupid phone! It was a gift for my son (he is in an area where there is no metropcs). I was bounced around from person to person, on hold forever, being told the system is down,my ESN number cannot be accessed, no record of my number and i order this phone from THEIR 800 number! I had to beg someone to help me and the phone is still not working well! I am very angry and feel cheated I am sending them there phone back and they had better give me my damn money!!!!

I went from paying 70 bucks a month for verizona with a plan that had unlimited nights and weekends + unlimited text messages to around 30 bucks a month for the exact same thing with alltel prepaid. I love it. It’s so much cheaper, since I only really use my phone for texting and breif phone calls. If you mainly want a phone for text messaging, I’d say this is better than any plan out there.

I’m 15 years old; don’t judge me by my age though. I’ve had alltel for about a year. Its FANTASTIC if you text more than you call. If you call more than you text, get verizon or some other company. Other than that, Alltel is pretty good; I just found out that when you dial *369 to get your balance, they charge you $.10; so if you have it, don’t call to check your balance til after 9. etc. They don’t have the phone selection I would like for pre-paid phones. :/thats a bummer. But, other than that, no complaints.=]

I purchased an Alltel prepaid phone from wal-mart this past september, I bought the phone in Nebraska now that I am back home in Indiana the phone is useless,I was told that their is no service or I guess Satellite to use the phone here. I would like your comments and I lost or threw away the reciept. So I guess I am stuck with a phone that I paid like $80.00 something with the prepaid minutes and it is useless. Sincerely Cathy

VERY poor outsourced-off shored customer service. The initial activation fee and ADDITIONAL Re-activation fee (if you don’t re-up for a couple months) alone makes the other pre-paid competition more worthwhile. If you have ANY issue with the phone or service you’re up the creek if you need assistance unless you’re prepared to endure multiple disconnects and hangs up after holding forever… then when you finally get through to be transferred to different depts (You’d think some answers would be easy to resolve but guess the answer was not in the script)… and with every transfer you waste yet More time repeating the same info (full name, address, last 4 SSN, reason for your call…etc) Great way to flex those muscles of patience. Any paying customer should be a valued customer and just because it’s prepaid does not justify giving mediocre (at best) customer support. Don’t know about you, but my time is valuable and I’m taking it to a different provider who will respect it and my $ better.

like it. Its just a hassel when you don’t use your phones, for a year and try to put mintes on them, You are charged 10.00 To put a couple minutes by american roaming network, And when you finally get intouch with altel, you have a promblem getting the 10.00 back in bank. that was my only problem with my phone. other than that its great.

I started using Alltel U prepaid on October 15th, 2008, and so far, I am very, very pleased. The rates, for the way I use a cell phone, are great. I text often and only call one person (and I call them for hours daily), so their pay-per-day plan with unlimited texting and favorite number calling is great for me. I am not in the Alltel area so I do have to double dial but that isn’t a big deal for me at all, especially because you can just add that double dialing right into the contact list so you don’t have to dial it again anyway. I have called customer service numerous times for different things and they have always been courteous and helpful with anything I needed. I rate their customer service to be excellent. I have had a few technical problems with Alltel U (like my account being at an inactive state regardless of the positive balance) but they happily fixed the problem. The only possible downside to their customer service is that the representatives tend to be foreign and do not have English as their primary language, but it’s not much of a problem. Currently, I do not have any complaints. I plan to stick with them as long as possible.

Alltel has some bugs, but it all makes since in the end, yeah they do charge you a minute if someone reaches your voicemail Alltel or not, but so what? Just answer! I have had a small problem with them so badly that they finally fixed it and gave me 200 Bonus minutes for free! $20.00 of free minutes! Start a new phone online and you get 60 free bonus minutes, so yeah, they work. If you have the blinking R on your phone its friendly roaming which means just dial *228 and press option 2 and you will lose the blinking R…Friendly roaming is the same as alltel and free calls if you have that plan. By christmas alltel is expected to be Merged with VERIZON!! Free calls to aLLTEL and VERIZON when you have mobile to mobile!!! Way to go alltel!

The service I had received from Alltel wasnt bad until about a year ago when suddenly my phone would flash roaming in areas where it never did before. After that it was almost impossible to make calls. This number can not be called from this phone is what I heard most,I never could figure that one out. Other times a recording would come on mentioning something about Verizon and that the call couldnt go through. Somehow Alltel changed the service for the worst and I wouldnt reccomend Alltel to anyone.

for the last two months, the service has been horible. the customer service reps are idiots. they cant fix anything, they hang up on you when they say what they have to say, it took seven people and a week to fix the problem of charging my debit card twice every time i loaded money from my debit card, and yesterday 10/16/08, it told me that i didnt have money on my account to make phone calls, so i loaded 10 dollars on my phone to get a text staing that i had more than 11 dollars on my account. then today, after making one call that lasted maybe five minutes, my account is now negative 2 dollars and some change. and whats with updating the system at 4 p.m. when most people are making phone calls after work or school? i have to call government offices that close at 4:30. im not happy with alltel at all.

I love my Alltel prepaid. I just pick up a card every two months, add my minutes and as long as the card is added before the 60 day deadline, my minutes carry over every time. I have several hundred minutes that have accumulated over time because I do not use the cell very often.I travel all around the southeastern US and have only encountered two dead spots…one around B’ham, AL and one in east TN. A bit frustrating but not a deal breaker for me. I can used Tracfone while there.I’ve always had good customer service. I’ve changed my number and it took less than fifteen minutes on the phone to do so.I am a happy customer and will stay with Alltel.

I LIVE ABOUT 2.5 HOURS SOUTH OF ATLANTA GA. IM ALWAYS BACK AND FORTH ON I-75 TO ATLANTA. ONCE I PASS CORDELE GA I CAN NOT RECEIVE ANY PHONE CALLS. EVEN WHEN IM IN ATLANTA I CAN NOT MAKE CALLS UNTIL I PASS BACK THROUGH CORDELE GOING HOME. I CAN RECEIVE CALLS BUT NOT MAKE THEM. I HAVE TO TEXT PEOPLE TO TELL THEM TO CALL ME AND SOMETIMES THE TEXTING DOES NOT WORK. THATS A BAD THING IF YOU EVER GET LOST IN ATLANTA. I THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE I WAS ON THE PAY PER DAY SO I CHANGED TO A PRE PAID PLAN AND STILL THE SAME THING. THEY SAY PICTURE MESSAGES ARE $.25 BUT THEY FORGET TO TELL YOU THAT THEY WILL ADD AN EXTRA $.10 BECAUSE OF DATA TRANSFER. SO THAT EQUALS UP TO $.35 TO RECEIVE AND SEND A PICTURE. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THERE COVERAGE AREA. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ALLTEL TO TRAVELERS. ALSO IF YOU HAVE A PAY PER DAY OR PAY PER MINUTE, IF YOU DON’T ANSWER YOUR PHONE AND IT GOES TO YOUR VOICEMAIL THAT WILL BE $.10 EVEN IF THEY DIDN’T LEAVE A VOICE MAIL. SO THEIR PLAN IS TO GET ALL YOU MONEY REGARDLESS !!!

Well i currently have the Alltel Prepaid…( nights and weekends and texting for .75 a day) First, Price is great for service…. 2nd call quality is ok when you’re not roaming but i always am when i live right in the center of the city… But i got a cheap phone first.. had lots of troubles with texting.. lots. lots. lots! That is the MAIN reason i got this phone, All i really need is texting… So i was VERY unhappy that the texting portion was CRAP. So i went in to the alltel store and they basically told me its cause of the phone… ok so i But the LG Scoop right then and there. He said this would fix my problems and it sould be fine.. so i spent the 200 bucks on buying a new phone and new service… repaying activation and all that BS… well at first it seemed better… but then maybe a week later… i think you know where this is going… it went right back to its old ways…. I used to average 7000 messages a month on my old plan at tmobile…. and now.. maybe 400… that says it all…It will send me errors and reject messages all kinds of stuff… Since going to the store didnt seem to do anything, i tried online support… they said go to the store… i’m not going to go up there so they can just tell me to buy another phone… I’m Definatly not going to sign a contract with them and get a phone that way. They should offer prepaid as a taste of how good the contract service is… but no their prepaid service is crap and i’m Going back to T-mobile so i can get and recieve all my messages and i’m going to pay 260 dollars to get sidekick service started up.. Why? Cause i know their network is awesome i always got all my messages and picture messages and the monty fee for that is only 29 dollars… that includes unlimited text email web browsing and all that stuff… what i need. so forget you Alltel, I’m warning all my friends and family who keep asking me how i like it to stay away. ITS CRAP!

I just bought the phone Friday and wanted to activate it online. As I tried to activate it online , when asked for zip code that I reside in I entered that in which is 77550 for Galveston TX. (409) area code, that would not work. I also entered a zip code (77036) an area in Houston which of course I thought would work because it is the fourth largest city and is a very big area. I thought that would enable me to get a phone number with one of those area codes in that area and that did not happen (713, 281, or 832). Instead that gave me area codes and numbers for cities that I have never heard of and never knew exisited in Texas. I did not activate the phone becasue of that reason. I want a number that is easy to recognize by the people that I call and a number that is easy to remember by people who call me. So I am upset because I wasted my money.

I bought the scoop and love the phone. I like the service… have the 1.25 a day plan and purchased the 5.99 unlimited web per month BUT just found out that they are still charging me airtime when I access the web before 9pm and I don’t think that is fair… 10 cents a minute on the net on a cell phone can rack up fast since it really isn’t all that fast!!!! I also don’t like that they charge when someone calls you and it goes to voicemail…. I refuse to answer just so it don’t cost minutes but hey they charge any way…. The double dialing is when you are using a tower that is not theirs but that tower connected you to Alltels network to make the call. The flashing R is not roam, the solid R is roam. You won’t get charged roaming if it is flashing…. which is good news but was upset when I saw the flashing R for the first time and wasn’t explained to that it wasn’t roaming…..

Awful Service. They used to be good and prepaid services didn’t expire. Without notifying us, they changed their poicy and we had a balance of over $20 expire overnight. When I called the person on the phone was very rude. I have had Alltel phones for over 10 years, now I’m going to change services. It must have something to do with the Verizon takeover.

I’ve had Alltel prepaid since May. In four months of use, the only thing I can really complain about is trying to deal with the C.S. reps (not all mind you, but I’ve never been hung up on before by someone who couldn’t answer my question) but I now would think twice about calling. I have also had to do the double dialing thing when out of my home area. When traveling I was very pleased with the coverage, it showed roaming, but when checking my account, there were no roaming charges. I previously had Tracfone, and I love Alltel U’s Celltop, Axcess Search, etc. Using the four unlimited options available:nights & weekends, mobile to mobile, texting and favorite number, I feel absolutely spoiled. I liked it so much that I got the same phone the Alltel Hue by Samsung (awesome phone; camera, video, expandable memory) for my husband with the same plan. I set mine up online and I bought his in the store. I did get free activation online, that was the promotion for that week. I am concerned however about the impending merger with Verizon. Verizon will be taking over Alltel from what I can gather. Verizons prepay plans are more expensive and everything expires, that is a croc. I was just reading the plan info on their website. But for now, I would highly recommend Alltel U pay-per-day.

Okay, so it’s said by most reviews that pretty much Alltel sucks well that’s true, but remeber PREPAID ALLTEL sucks not the 2 year contract or 1 year contract ALLTEl. Yes I certainlly understand and definitelly do not doucbt that PREPAID Alltel is just a pain in the behind and simply if you really are looking for a great prepaid deal I don’t eally recommend Alltel for that cause but on the other hand regular Alltel is simply great. I dont’ neccerally know about how your local Alltel area is but I personallly have 8 phone accounts with them and 1 wireless account and the maximun bill is about $460.Sounds very cheap I know thats why I simply love it! Quick reson Alltel bought CELLULAR ONE in our town. Some tips I would reccomend are: 1. To be very sure if PREPAID ALLTEL is available in your area. 2. To know that by many neagtive feedbacks is prolly required to dial a number twice at ceratin points. 3. Customer representatives are sometimes not the answer to your question but remeber it’s not their fault that PREPAID ALLTEL sucks and that they do not have magical talents to fix your problem at a snap of a finger. 4. If online simply doesn’t work go to your local store cahnces are that ot wiill turn out better, but if some buy online that means there’s no stores within a 20 mile range wich means bad service DUHHH. 6. THIS ONE IS FOR ((!!MORE THAN FRUSTRATED!!)) BELOW ME, ((“don’t take this personally but I had read reviews online and they say that Alltel’s 800# was not very good.”))…by saying; DONT TAKE THIS PERSONAL you pretty much are saying please do, take it personal so that stir things up a bit…((“She got defensive and snippy so I got snippy and told her that the reviews also said that the reps needed customer training.”))….well that was very NOT nice from you…((“She really did not like this.”)) OVIOUSLY NOT, what the hell were you expecting her to do just to put a big smile at your remarks? NO of cource not and from the strat to the end you really meant to take your frustation out on her, so do not act like you were surprised because you know what you what was coming. AND LAST, IF YOU READ FROM REVIEWS SAYING ALL THOSE NEGATIVE THINGS FROM PREPAID ALLTEL WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU BUY A PREPAID ALLTEL PHONE????? 6. LIKE I SAID IF YOURE LOOKING FOR GREAT DEALS ON PREPAID,, ALLTEL IS NOT THE BEST>>> ALTHOUGHT GETTING REGULAR ALLTEL IS JUST BASICALLY THE BEST!!!! KNOW THAT YOU KNOW DO NOT GET PREPAID ALLTEL IF YOU PREDICT THAT ALL THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO YOUR ACCORDING TO REVIEWS!!! HAVE A GREAT DAY =]

I got this because i needed nights and weekends, and figured i could also use the “free number” well, a couple months ago, my phone started acting up, they told me i had to pay RETAIL price (two or three hundred bucks) for a new phone and they don’t repair phones. Turns out the problem with my phone, was actually just how they work the service, it shuts off every hour that you speak on the phone. THEN! it started charging me for “voice mail” calls that i wasn’t even making, two or three times a day… for .10-.50 cents! Very disappointed in customer service, and phone service !!!

I just recently started with alltel prepaid. The one thing I was upset about is that because the towers in my area are controlled by Sprint, I have to dial the phone number twice for it to go through. Even if it’s set up for speed dial! No way around it according to technical service. I guess it’s not so bad if you can remember everyone’s phone number! I’m definately going to be shopping for a different service for my area!

Apparently when you leave the home calling area and bounce off another tower, you have to dial 1-area code-number-# key TWICE to get the call to go through. VERY COMPLICATED and NOT DOCUMENTED ANYWHERE. When i switched to monthly, said goodbye to $100 in pre paid minutes they refused to put towards the new plan.

Today I will make the third (3rd) trip in three days, from my home to the Alltel store, in the hopes that SOMEONE there will be competent to check the correct boxes on the computer screen to give my son the bonus features he wants on his pre-paid phone. We signed up on Saturday (pay-per-day with three unlimited bonus features), asked for and were told we got unlimited nights and weekends, mobile-to-mobile, and text messaging. On Sunday morning, my son tried to make a phone call and got a message saying that his balance was insufficient (5 cents). We drove back to the store that afternoon and found out that the rep who signed us up had given us unlimited calls to one phone number instead of nights and weekends that we asked for. The new rep put the money back on the account, and told us that all was well. Sunday afternoon my son checked his balance just for kicks, and it was $5 less than it was after we got the account corrected. We registered at the Alltel website so we could check his account activity, and found out that the second rep had taken away the unlimited text messaging, and given him what we DID NOT want – unlimited calls to one favorite phone number! I hope they can get it right today, if not I will cancel the service and get my money back – all $133.47 of it! Overall, it’s expensive up front, primarily because of the $35 activation fee and because we got a high-end phone, but please, unless you know that the reps in your local store can read well enough to check the boxes next to the features YOU want, please order your service at the web site so you’ll know what you’re getting.

Absolutely horrible service… Outside of my home area, I usually have to re-enter the phone number that I am trying to call – which isn’t much of a problem when I have the number memorized; when I don’t have the number memorized, I have to hang up, write the number down, dial again, enter the number again and THEN the call is made.

I went to Alltel from tracfone and it was better as far as being cheaper with better service area but the technical support and phones are about average. They need to include an airtime account balance and due day on the phone. otherwise you need to call and find this out not a big deal but its inconvienent. The fact that you need to dial the number twice when your out of your home area is very bad. Even with a hands free set you need to actually dial the number twice if your driving -very dangerous! as far as customer service Im tired of trying to understand someone from India explaning things to me that I cant even understand.

My husband and I got a prepaid plan for each of our phones. Mine worked alright with the exception of having to double dial and his almost always got a recording. Toward the end of the first month and after talking to a cs ( haha yeah right) person his phone was doing a lot better. Then came time to pay for the next months service and as soon as we did now both phones no longer work. I called tech support and got hung up on twice. The are telling me they have to reprogram my phone but the rep that I bought them from says there is nothing wrong with the phone. So I asked to get my money back since we just paid for it and he said they dont do that. So now here we are with to pos phones that dont work and 150 dollars less to be able to get another one. I think that alltel is a joke. They mis rep themselves as being the best since they use all towers. If you are thinking about them for your sake I wouldnt suggest it.

So far so good. We choose the pick three daily plan. Unlimied mobile to mobile, unlimited text, and unlimited nights and weekends for 1 dollar a day. So for 30 bucks a month. Any other usage is straight 10 cents a minute. I won’t be using it for any of the features I haven’t picked, so It’s straight 30 bucks a month.

Had my 1st prepaid for 3 years. Everytime I reached 59 minutes and 59 seconds, the call was disconnected. I thought, well old phone. This month I purchased a new RAZR3 prepaid and same thing, disconnected the call at 1 hour of time. Called Alltel and they say it’s a “Safety” feature and said the policy could not be changed. So, I pay them upfront and extra for a “favorite” and, basically, they’re saying I cannot use my minutes as I see fit. Now, how many of you are loosing minutes because you have to call back on a call that you have already paid for, in advance, and was disconnected after an hour? Seems to me that Alltel is really racking up on those minutes!!!! I’m not happy with their answer that the software program cannot be changed. This ONLY happens on prepaid phones, not regular accounts. Prepaid accounts are being discriminated against!!!!!

I had a bag phone for years that worked great in rural areas in SW MI. All phone companies are dropping analog service now. So I went into Alltell to get a digitol phone for me pre-paid service. To get a simple phone with a good signal they suggested that I purchase the LG AX 390. I have only used it for a few minutes in the last month as I only need a cell phone in my business about 3 months per year. They told me that I would have to pay $169.00 for the LG which I thought was a lot of $$$. So I went to their web site and found out that pre-paid customers who had an analog phone could upgrade to the LG for $99.00. The dude at the Alltel store had no clue that alltel had this offer going. So I saved $69.00 by purchasing it online.I can get buy on $100.00 per year on pre-paid. Today I was trying to use my Alltel online U-pay account , but they have changed my password and user ID. I have wasted over 2 hours now trying to contact a human at alltel to get help with logging on to my account online. After going through many recorded messages that tell me that I should log online to add minutes to my account.I am livid at how much hassle it is to get customer support from this company….

Had service for a year and a half with little problems. I moved out of my home area but still in an Altell area. Now it charges me for Altell to Altell calls. Have tried for 3 weeks to get this problem resovled. Don’t call customer service unless you have at least 30 min. It takes forever to get to talk to a real person and they put you on hold many times during the call. Took my complaint to local office and got a little help from the local Asst. Mangager but the problem persists. (It took 15 min. of trying to talk to a real person at the local store, very flustrating.) Tried local again and told they couldn’t help me. Have yet a third problem ticket open with tech. support. Come on guys, get this fixed. I am tired of spending hours out of each week to fix your problem!

First off I must say since I have “joined” alltel’s service I don’t want to switch because they do have a unlimited texting “feature”… I text a lot. Unfortunatly, the phone I have is a POS. Its a Samsung snap. It turns off when it wants to (and refuses to turn back on til it wants to), adds/deletes contacts, rearranges pictures, freezes, deletes LOCKED text messages. My phone also roamed for 3 days straight in my house. I didnt like that you have to pay money to let people leave you a voicemail.

THIS SERVICE IS HELL–and that is a RATING OF -ZERO STAR. had the contract service for 2 years and was happy except for a few months of constant overbilling in which I had to spend hours going over my bills to get it right. My 2 yr. contract ended while my elderly mother was out of state, my tech savvy bro set up her U phone with much contact with sales agent and online work. I set up mine with a dealer at home…we were activating our existing phones. She was stranded in Denver in a blizzard and none of her children could contact her for 3 hours. She could not call out because of the 1, #. In our home area it is fine, but she needs it only for travel. Not only is the 2-stage dialing inconvenient (gotta remember the number) but when I tried that from outside my area, I was told my account was not authorized to access that number. IT WAS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT I COULD CALL TO AND FROM EVERYWHERE I WAS ALLOWED TO WITH MY FORMER PLAN..many times I just get a busy signal now that i am out of town. If I don’t get a busy signal…I get the message to use 1….#; i do that and get the same message…so I enter the same BS twice.Denver is out of my home area, I had no problem from anywhere in US with the contract. This was supposed to have the same coverage. Mother is in the hospital; we had to get a TMobile phone for me to be able to talk anyone. That was $100. I have tried to call cs with a land phone and always busy, advise me to hang up, try later. This is all UNACCEPTABLE….Two emergency situations requiring contact and nothing but stress and frustration…anguish. I REALLY CANNOT RELAY THE ANGER THIS HAS CAUSED.(a first I was not able to receive calls while here with the Alltel daily plan, now I can– but still not call out).

I bought this phone for my dad for christmas, and we have had it “activated” for less than 4 hours. First off, it wouldn’t activate, so I called customer service and he took me through it. Then he did a test call to me, and that worked. Well a little while later, we tried our first call…all we got was a busy signal EVERY time. So I called C.S again, and they told me the first guy messed it up by calling me and doing the test call instead of me doing it first. Well then I needed a new service code or something so they put me on hold for nearly 30 min. Another girl came on and beat around the bush with it, nothing worked, so she said she would send me to another dept. for the new code or something, and I asked if it would take long and she said, “not at all” Of course not because no one answered!!!! I sat there with my dad’s christmas present all messed up and no one to help me out. We were in the middle of “fixing” the problem. Then, I tried calling back but I couldn’t get through to the Alltel number, it was always just silence or strange dialing sounds. So I tried calling with my Us Cellular phone, and I got through!!! So then I got to thinking, did they block my call? SO I dialed with the initial phone but made my call private, and sure enough, I got through, but then when it came for a customer service rep to pick up, there was nothing again. I’m so upset, my dad was so happy to be getting a phone. We are taking our business elsewhere.

This a good plan. The coverage is the best in the country. We live out in the middle of Kansas and the wife’s T-Moble Cell does not even hookup from our house. There is dead spots in her frequent areas she like to call.Alltel 15 cents per minute is just the plan for me when I leave the house. Too bad she can’t me on her cell from it. Oh well, at least we got our land line. I got my phone from Wal-Mart. The LG AX275 model is $59.94 and you get $10.00 credit and 60 free minutes when you activite on line. There is no activation fee of $35.00 with the Wal-Mart phone. So for $85.00 I got the best phone with country wide service, with no problem of having to pay rooming charges or anything else. The $85.00 included the 133 min. from the $20.00 card. I will later increase to $100.00 and get a year’s time of 365 days. It was easy to get on line and hookup. Highly recommended. I did check out other cheaper plans, but where was their coverage. 12/22/07
