In general, I'd been happy with the net10 service for its convenience. I get the same number every time I'm in the country (80 percent of the time I'm traveling overseas). However, recently net10 activated the voicemail feature on my phone without my direct involvement and I get nothing but ‘I can't's' to get it removed nor does it actually work. The technical support is neither technical nor supportive, but tell me it is a feature of the phone when it does not even have the menu option for voice mail. I do IT and communications support myself, so I do not speak from ignorance.

I have used virtually every celfone service available and have now had Net10 for over two years. It is, without a doubt, the best celfone service I have ever had, not to mention the least expensive. I have traveled all over and have found no area where there is no service and I have never had a dropped call. My daughter has just traveld all over Arizona with her Net10 and had only two dead areas. It is true that sometimes it is hard to understand their representatives but that has nothing to do with the quality of the fone service. Anyone who complains is either a real dumbass or someone who likes to complain about everything. Even Consumer Affairs just rated it the best celfone service in the U.S.

I use net10 for past 6 months and have been travelling in the east coast and never had any problem with coverage. I dont think they use any of the big giant networks like AT&T or verizon because my friend uses AT&T – but my net10 phone able to connect to the network where my friends phone is off line. I love this net10. I pay $30 every 2 months – no contract – it is perfect phone for any one.

I have had Net10 prepay for 5 yrs as a secondary phone and never had a dropped call no matter where I traveled. Net 10 uses Verizon's network so that's a big plus. The website is much better than calling their customer service, which is not good at all. I haven't had any problems with any phone. I started with the low-end Nokia phone, went to LG300, then to the LG600 that I have had for nearly 2 yrs. Now I found out that Net10 has an Unlimited Talk/Text/Web plan for $50 per month, I want to enroll in that, no more prepaid cards and get rid of my landline for good (bye-bye AT$T). However, I want to keep my LG600 phone and current phone #. I hope I'll be able to do it without any problems.

I just bought a Net10 phone and they assigned a different area then the one I live in for my phone number. So I called 3 different times each for at least 45 minutes with someone trying to get a different number. They keep you on hold for the majority of the time because their ‘system is updating'. Meanwhile the call center sounds like it's in someone's basement, you can barely hear the person and the conversation is garbled and unclear. Would NOT recommend this company.

I'm giving 5 stars based on doing the following and not having any problems (so far):1. ordered the Samsung 401 model, arrived on time2. activated the phone via CC (using land line), no problem3. made local and international calls – no problems, good reception4. ordered a 2nd Samsung 401 due to good experience with the first phone5. switched land line number (from Comcast) to the 2nd phone (using land line for all CC calls) – no problemsWe even talked to a CC from Georgetown in Guyana with no problems or delays. Yes she has an accent, but so does everyone in the US …

I love my Net10 phone. We don't want to spend $100+ a month on our phones, so we picked up two Net10 phones for $30 each and they came with 300 minutes. We were just looking for something to get us by, a phone call/txt msg here and there and it’;s perfect. We throw 15-20 on each phone once a month or so and save loads of money. If you're looking for a status phone or something you are going to use as your primary phone, this is not for you, but as a basical casually used phone it's perfect.

I've had Net10 for about 5 or 6 months now. I use it mostly as a back up to my Verizon phone. No problems with it unless I'm in a store then it's no signal. The phone is a GSM phone so thats expected. Net10 shou;d really look into it's customers service problem. I have read and watched about company's here in the U.S. who do customer service for larger company's. They are tele commuting company's who hire people to work from home. Usually these company's pay about ten to twelve dollars an hour. Soo Net10 if you are reading this check it out.

No complaints until I tried to update to NET10 unlimited with a new phone. Same complaint as many above – they can't seem to figure out how to transfer my phone number to the new phone. Today was the 7th phone call to CS in 13 days – still no phone service and I was told to wait another 24-48 hours so they can decide whether or not they will need to send me a new SIM card (unless I want to give up the phone number I have had for six years and get a new one). I thought it was federal law that the carrier had to transfer your number…BTW – do ask for a supervisor immediately, the regulars at the call center (India??) have been no help at all…

When the phone works, the phone service itself is OK. Our phone died. Company said will send a replacement. They did. Activated new phone and it showed zero minutes. It took TWO HOURS of brain damage and haggling with some offshore ‘customer service' people to get 175 minutes restored. First they said we'd have to buy more minutes. Then, after talking with ‘supervisor' they restored the minutes. Incredibly slow and incompetent service. Waaaay more trouble than it's worth.

For the past 5 days I have been unable to port my number from Sprint, despite daily calls to NET10. NET10 cancelled my Sprint account when they started the portage process, but they have been unable to complete the process for the past 5 days, so I have been without a phone for five days. No one can contact me, and my business has suffered a huge financial hit as a result! NET10 Customer service's response is that I was told that portage might take up to ten days, which is true – they DID tell me that, but they did NOT tell me that the transition period would entail 10 days of having no phone service! I assumed that the switch would be instantaneous, but that it just might not happen for up to 10 days, which would have been no problem. NET10's first excuse was ‘Sprint won't release your old number' – a lie. Second excuse was that portage hadn't been accomplished, because they still needed my zip code. I had given it to them when I initially applied, but I gave it to them again, without arguement. Third excuse, a day later, when I again called to enquire about my continuing lack of service, it was revealed that I had given them a zip code incompatible with my ported number's area code. DUH! I had moved from Miami to Pittsburgh (Pitts), but wanted to keep my old number. Sprint signal sux here in Pitts, so a change in provider was in order, but not a change in number! Net10 asked for my zip code when I signed up, and I gave them my zip code – where I am now living (Pitts). A day later, I phoned about my ongoing lack of service connection, and they said they needed my zip code. I gave it (Pitts)to them again! The next day, I phoned again and was told I hadn't provided them with the correct zip code for my Sprint phone, a Florida zip, ‘where your Sprint phone was activated. Well, In the past 10 years, I have moved 4 times within Florida and most recently returned from a 3-year overseas military mobilization. Sprint had been advised of each move, at the time of the moves, and was provided with updated addresses. I have had FOUR Florida zip codes, so which one should I give to NET10? Their needs/motives weren't explained, so I gave them the last Florida zip code I had used. Now I guess they actually might need the zip code for where I was living when I was ISSUED my Sprint number. Bottom line: NET10 has a REALLY BAD communicatin problem. Certainly, they have been around long enough to have been able to eliminate all the operational bugs. Their prices are the best, but their service is the worst. I am notifying the FCC about this unnecessary interruption in service, and I encourage others who have suffered similar disruptions to also file formal complaints with the FCC. Maybe feeling some heat from the Federal Government will get NET10 to clean up their act.

(‘You are coming in garbled') I have been trying since 11:00 (it is now 4:01) to activate yet another phone. Hopefully this one will be better. Also, the service is terribly. CS lies and are not helpful and could really care less about wether or not the customer is satisfied. As soon as I can, I will be leaving net10 in my dust!

I've been with Net 10 for 2 years without any problem. I just got a new phone and tried upgrading online but couldn't. Called the customer service with apprehension since I've read how horrible CC was. But to my surprise, the number and the remaining minutes were transfered within 30 min., and I didn't have trouble understanding the two reps I talk to (my call got cut off). With how great the deal is, I really can't complain!

NET10 will remain my favorite as long as they provide superb coverage for the low rate of 10c per minute. They other carriers could learn from them. You don't advertise 10c per minute and then rip people off with a daily charge of $1 per day! Just got a new Samsung 401 on NET10 to replace my aging cell phone. Fortunately this one has a qwerty keyboard so texts should go a lot faster once I get used to it. The number port was freaking me out because I've read here that people have problems with it. Guess what? Mine ported with NO PROBLEMS!! I'm so glad, I really didn't want to lose my number. NET10 is waaaayyy cheaper than my previous plan, especially with texting. I also get full bars in my bedroom and that was always a problem before with my previous phone.

As someone else put it – YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR – and customer service isn't one of the items. If you get a NET10 phone be prepared to solve your own problems because Jose at the call center can't. At some point it just isn't worth it – the time, the frustration, the lost money. Life is too short to have to spend so much of it with these jokers.

Amazingly dreadfully horrible customer service. Got two phones about a month ago. Finally, as of today, one of the two seems to be working properly at the moment. The other one is still messed up. We have spent literally hours on the phone with ‘customer service' — probably close to 15 hours at this point — in one month. The problem with one phone is still not resolved. The representatives are uninformed, difficult to understand (heavy accents), sometimes do not seem to understand what we are saying, have to check with the supervisor repeatedly, will not transfer you to a supervisor if requested, cannot seem to solve the problems. I don't think I've ever encountered customer service as terrible as Net10. I do not have a strong enough vocabulary to express how frustrating and awful their customer service is. Reminds me of the old Douglas Adams computer game Bureaucracy. Only not as much fun.

It seems you take the good with the bad with Net10. They have the clearest priced and most affordable call rates (especially for long distance and roaming), with no hidden costs (my favorite part) but their customer service is a serious downside. Having never needed to deal with them directly, I love the service and my phone (Motorola W377) and will keep using them. I hope they resolve their customer service issues, they'd be a clear standout among prepaid options if they did.

Just switched over from another prepaid carrier. NET10 is much cheaper with the same or better network coverage than I had before. I like: no daily use charge. Simple plans, always 10c per minute with no long-distance or roaming charges. You always know what your balance is, no guessing or running out of minutes unexpectedly. Available everywhere so it's convenient. Low-low texting rate of 3c per minute. Great phones AND you get 300 minutes + 2 months free. I dislike: nothing so far.

I got the LG300 too, and with 300 free minutes, so like Clarissa said, the phone was basically free. Plus there was no activation charge. I haven't had to deal with customer service, so I can't comment about that, but I was surprised to see how good Net10 reception is. When I got Net10 I knew exactly what I was getting, basic cell phone service with no roaming charges and free 411 calls thrown in. Although I haven't made any international calls yet, I like the fact that I can make international calls for only 15 cents a minute. Texts are only 3 cents, but that doesn't matter to me. I never text. For me a phone is for making calls and a cell phone is for making calls when you need to.

Recently purchased a GPS with bluetooth capability which prompted me to consider upgrading from the LG300G to the LG600G. Unlike most of the posters here I've had no problems with Net10 service, but reading about everyone's horror stories didn't exactly encourage me to rush out to purchase a new phone. After receiving a prompt and courteous customer service reply to my query concerning the transfer of unused minutes, I tentatively purchased the LG600G. With some trepidation, I followed the ‘transfer account to new phone' steps on the Net10 website. After performing the initial steps, I was informed that this ‘procedure could not be performed at this time'. Undaunted, I logged off and immediately logged back in, repeating the initial account transfer steps. I got a bit further when I was prompted to contact customer service for a new sim card. I'd read this from another user's review, but for the life of me I can't understand why a new phone would require a new sim card. I pondered this while closing the new sim card prompt. I didn't expect the OTHER set of instructions that were revealed when I closed the prompt. At this point I figured I had nothing to lose by seeing where these new instructions would take me, so I proceeded. I was led through a short sequence of pressing specific keys on the cell. I typed the codes that were produced in the appropriate website fields. Finally, I was prompted to turn off and immediately turn the new phone back on and press a specific key 3 times. Guess what…my new phone was activated, my account (with 600 carryover minutes) was successfully transferred and an additional 300 minutes were added from the purchase of the new phone.Activated the bluetooth feature with no problem…I'm one happy camper.Looking back on the experience, I can see how people could be sidetracked trying to transfer accounts themselves and become lost in the ‘customer service vortex'. If Net10 is going to continue allowing users to transfer accounts between phones themselves, they might want to identify and eliminate any website glitches.

I got net 10 because I thought it would be more affordable than gophone. I was paying 25 cents on gophone and 10 cents on net 10 sounded like a steal. I bought the samsung t401g and I LOVE the phone, but I am sick of the problems with net10. As soon as I tried to activate the phone I had problems. After I finally got it activated, I began to text and got the standard 0.50 units instead of the 0.30 that was advertised with the purchase of my phone. I had to contact customer service, it was a major pain, but eventually they helped me out. They WERE polite though unlike some I've spoken to with other companies. Now, every time I sent a picture message I get charged an extra unit. Customer service just seems to ignore that issue when I bring it up. For some reason, my text messages won't show up for some reason (it says there's an error) so I get charged for nothing, then I try to reopen the message and get charged again! This happens alot, and I don't really like getting charged multiple times for things. Another thing I don't like is the internet browser. I'm not really interested in using it, but you can't even change the function of the button, so basically every time I press the right soft key, even by accident, I get charged 1.0 unit for nothing. If you are overcharged or charged for something on net10, don't bother trying to get your money back, because they won't give it to you. It's a shame, because I love the phone and the rates but I really don't feel like being charged multiple times for things and being charged for accidentily pushing a button. Like I said, customer service is a hassle, and although polite, won't help you. Especially when it comes to being over charged.

porting is seriously a pain in the butt. I knew that my old provider (Verizon) usually completed the transaction in under two hours, unfortunately the Net10 website kept telling me ‘my number was still being ported'. I got tired of waiting, so I called Net10, who blamed it on Verizon not releasing the number, then I called Verizon, and that CS rep told me they released it the DAY I requested it.Called Net10 back to tell them about my number with the Verizon Rep on the phone, and Net10 admitted their mistake, finally.I ordered the LG600 from their website which apparently ‘worked' in the city I'm in. Turns out, they sent me a T-mobile SIM, which doesn't work where I am. The Net10 rep proceeded to tell me that she was sending a new SIM via FedEx, and it should be here in 3-5 days, yadda, yadda, yadda. Hopefully she wasn't lying. Also, up until now my Verizon number had been working, which meant that something wasn't right in the port. After the FOURTH phone call to Net10, my original number doesn't work. Just waiting on the SIM now…PS: For any porting problems call 1-800-876-5753. DO NOT CALL CS, unless you have 4 or more hours to kill.

Net10 offers a great service especially for people who don’t use their cell phone much. By prepaying $15 a month you have 150 minutes of talk time 24×7/365. You buy a phone from them, but most of their phones come with 2 months and 300 minutes included. That’s it. No hassles or billing surprises. Unfortunately that doesn’t tell the whole story. Net10’s customer service stinks. Their reps are always polite, sometimes to a fault, but English isn’t their first language (they are based in India, I believe). The phone connection is inevitably lousy as they all use the same cheap headsets. There is often background noise of other reps talking in the background. Worse of all Net10 has a very rigid policy and procedure manual which is simply non-negotiable. For instance, their “Easy Minutes” program automatically debits your account whenever you need more minutes or days. But they can only start that on the day you place an order. So if you already are manually paying the fee and you switch to “Easy Minutes” you will loose the days still remaining on your account.Another example, my phone needed replacing so I purchased a new one with 300 minutes and 60 days a day before my time was to expire. I assumed the 60 days would then be added, but no way. The days and the minutes go exclusively to the new phone and would not be applied to the old phone until the new one arrived in a week. Hhhuuu? I bot the days but they didn’t belong to me, they belonged to my yet to be delivered new phone! No amount of begging, pleading or cajoling did any good. I even went up the ladder to the second level supervisor. But this is not the worst. When I tried to get the new phone registered, they switched me from AT&T to T-mobile. Well I had traveled 37 states some of it on back roads without ever being out of service with AT&T. I wasn’t willing to give that up. I asked for AT&T, which required them to send me a new SIM card. What they didn’t tell me was that because of that, they released my phone number I had used for 3 years. When I called with my new SIM card they only then announced they had given away my old phone number. I tried to appeal the abysmal customer service but to no avail. No amount of begging, pleading or cajoling did any good. Ggggggrrrrr. If you can live by their rules, you probably will like the service. Just don’t expect any kind of customer service at any time. They simply will not compromise.

Until I decided to port my Tracfone number to Net10 I had never had any problems with customer service. I've been waiting for three weeks for them to complete the port and send me a new SIM card. I've spent many hours on the phone with the Customer Service Reps and their supervisors trying to overcome the ‘Unregistered SIM' message that is keeping me from making calls. I will give them 24 more hours to fix the problem. If they can't, I'll walk away from the phone number that I've had for years and go get a contract phone with one of the major carriers. Now I understand why there are so many rants on this page about the lack of Customer Service from Tracfone/Net10.

I'm sorry to have to give this rating. I've had my net10 phone for almost 2 years now. Never had a problem with it until this morning. Last month I purchased a $30.00 card (300 mins) online, got a text message saying that I now had DOUBLE MINUTES FOR LIFE and ended up with 600 mins for the month. Today I purchase a $20.00 card online. No double minutes. Call CS and speak with a gentleman who couldn't understand what I was saying or my name or how long I had been a Net 10 customer or when I had purchased my minutes last month or how many minutes I had used over the last month or how to spell my name (I had to repeat it 6 times)even though he had my account directly in front of him on the computer screen, etc etc etc. He gets a ‘supervisor' who tells him that I couldn't have possibly had double minutes that they do not offer that promotion. So I asked him to explain to me, how it was possible that I bought a $30.00 card which is 300 minutes but actually had 600 minutes, which I used all of them down to 12 minutes, which is why I purchased a $20.00 card online just 10 seconds ago. So he is being very polite but I'm getting heated up because I didn't send myself the freaking text and I couldn't have given myself 600 minutes last month (which they can see on their computer how many minutes you use monthly). The guy called his supervisor again and came back on to tell me that ‘if' i received the double mins that it would have only been a promotion for the one month. I explained to him that the text message reads ‘DOUBLE MINUTES FOR LIFE' and as far as I know, I'm not dead. Then he goes on to say…All I can repeat to you is that Net10 does not offer DOUBLE MINUTES FOR LIFE. argh…I told him that I wasn't even bothered by not having the double minutes anymore, I was more ticked off by their denial of something that actually occurred…and that his supervisor was full of BS and next month (once I use up all of my minutes I just purchased today), I was going to go with a different company. Walmart has a new Smart Talk for $45.00 per month Unlimited Talk and Text.

I think people who complain are more likely to write it down. Those of us who are satisfied are less likely to tell anyone about it. I activated the phone and wanted to port my old number from my AT&T cell. They told me it would take up to 7-10 days. I was not happy about this, but called AT&T and Verizon and was told the same thing with the caveat, ‘but it really doesn't usually take that long.' My AT&T phone was disconnected within an hour and a couple of hours later my cell number was correctly ported to my new Net 10 Samsung T401g phone. In the meantime, I went to the Internet to purchase accessories and signed up for the Easy Minutes plan. When my phone was activated, the 300 minutes I got for buying the phone plus the 150 Easy Minutes I signed up for on the Internet were on my phone. The only issue I have not resolved is that I notice I am being charged 5c a text instead of 3c a text. 2c a text savings isn't the reason I bought the phone. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the CSRs are difficult to understand due to heavy accents and my text rate wasn't correct right out of the box.I can, however, get a strong signal in more places than I could with AT&T which is the reason I left AT&T. I don't have to strain to hear anyone on the phone–even in the wind.

WHY IS THERE NO NEGATIVE NUMBERS FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE? 1 STAR IS 5 STARS OVERRATED FOR THEIR USELESS CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THE SUPERVISORS, WHOM I INSIST ON SPEAKING WITH BECAUSE THE PEONS ARE COMPLETELY USELESS, LACK ANY CS SKILLS AND SEEM TO ONLY HAVE BEEN TRAINED IN ‘RUN AROUND' TECHNIQUES.

We are trying to locate a cell phone that once you purchase the first time minutes we won't have to purchase any more unless we need them and the service date rolls over month to month without having to purchase additional minutes to keep it active. The phone would be for ‘Emergency's' only and left in the car for that purpose only. Can anyone help me locate some type of plan that would provide this type of service

It took more than an hour to reactivate…customer service is awful with so much background noise and no english fluency..and no understanding of what you are calling for even after telling them couple times. i have decided to move on to another provider as soon as my minutes are used up in a month or two. Cheap phones cheap service..call quality is fine…customer service sucks..!!

At first I was really happy to have the Net 10 phone. It was a gift and it came with 300 minutes. I was so thrilled with it, that I had bought my husband one as a gift. Six months after owning it until now, I've had nothing but problems. Customer service is awful. Spending a couple of hours on the phone with them seems to be the norm. My husband refuses to call them. For the last three months he has not received any minutes, but yet we keep paying. Why? Because our service will deactivate if we don't. It is such a total pain. When we decide to go to Verizon in three months, I am going to lose out on a ton of minutes. What a waste. I will never recommend Net10 to anyone.

I have been a Net10 subscriber for 4 or 5 years. I have rarely had any problems with the Net10 service. The rates are fair and there is no $1.00 daily usage fee. The higher end phones have cheaper text rates. TracPhone with a double minute card and buying a large minute card would give you a little better rate. I seldom get dropped calls and have coverage where AT&T does not (in my backyard!) I have had 4 different Net10 phones. The first was a very low end Nokia that just wore out after a year. Replaced with an LG flip that I washed in my pants. A lower end LG didn't work properly so I traded it for a Motorola slider which is OK but I can't load music on the MP3 (yet). Customer service is fair and foreign but if you ask they will hook you up with a rep that can get the job done.

if it was possible to give negative stars, I would have. I have a tracfone which is great but not so cheap, so I thought since tracfone and Net10 are owned by the same company they would be alike. NOT. One minute I would get all five bars for a signal and the next no bars and obviously no service. but sometimes I'd have all five bars and no service. Called them to get money back (since i purchased it refurbished on their website & they have the '30 day money back' guarantee) and Customer Service barely know English, I was asked three times in a row if I was a Net10 customer. It is not worth your time or money. DON'T BUY IT!!!!!! and just like another reviewer wrote about calling customer service and trying to speak to a supervisor, I was put on hold while the supervisor ‘was on another line' for over 30 minutes. p.s. the 30 day money back guarantee is a lie, you won't get your money back.

Purcheased net10 phone to carry for emergency's only.Activated phone on line, no problem. Decided after the first month to sign up for easy minute plan and did in fact receive my minutes/service time correctly. The next month no time/minutes added although money had been taken from bank account. Had to call cs to get phone reset with correct minutes/service time. Next two months, money deducted yet again no minutes/service time added. Numerous email to cs who informed me I had received correct credit on phone yet I am looking at phone and nothing added. Ended up calling cs and luckily got a nice young man who spoke english well enough to understand him and after 28 minutes on the phone, I received my correct minutes/service time. Point is if I have to go through all this every month, what is so easy about their easy minute plan?????I like the phone and get very good reception with it even though I only use about 30 minutes per month yet it is needed for emergency use as I am disabled and feel secure having access to a phone at all times. I know this company could do a better job than what they are doing. I plan on to cancel the easy minute plan and buy an airtime card and hopefully this will work a little easier for me….

I purchased a net10 phone in Bangor Maine on April 2. I assumed it would be more economical than changing my canadian blackberry phone over to a US plan. WRONG…the price isn't my issue. I activated the phone online, and then on Sunday realized I could not call Canada on it so logged on to activate international calling-I kept getting the message that my ‘serial #' was NOT in the system. The serial number worked fine during activation on Friday. I ended up having to call Net10 and was in their que on hold for over 30 minutes..I sat watching my minutes tick away (its a prepaid phone)…eventually a CSR came on the line. Her english was so broken I could not understand her at all due to her heavy accent. I eventually (while watching my minutes decrease) asked if I could speak with a representative I could understand (without an accent)..and was rudely informed she spoke english just fine. After much back and forth and having to get her to repeat over and over what she was trying to tell me, she finally said my international calling would be active within 24 hours and that I would receive a free text message telling me so…I am not active its 3 days since my call I've sent 2 emails to Net10 and have received no replies. How frustrating and to think I paid for this poor customer service. Last night I called from a land line and I was on hold in the que for over an hour so I eventually hung up..WHAT KIND OF SERVICE IS THIS …do you not want me to buy more minutes from you during my trip across the US????

The Operator assured me it had been registered and then made an additional entry. That was 12 days ago and it still doesn't work. I bought the LG600 phone at Big Lots for $24 (20% off for friends and family day.) I activated it, received a new phone number, and used it for several weeks to be sure I would like the service. The service worked great, it was using the same AT&T towers as my old contract phone. I called customer service to find out how I could ‘port' my old cellphone number to the LG600. A very nice lady in South America (with a charming accent) took all my information, talked me through the process, and said I would need a new SIM card to change the number. The card arrived at no charge via FedEx in about a week. I inserted the card, followed the steps on the Net10 website, and in a few minutes I had my old phone number back and the phone was working great. All this at about 1/3 the cost of the contract phone service. Also, these minutes roll over instead of evaporate if not used! In my experience thus far, Net 10 has been a very friendly and professional company to deal with.

DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY UNDER AT ALL!!!! I just got my phone disconnected after being on hold for over 3 hours with a ‘upper supervisor' (you could hear normal cubical CR phone calls going on in the background and NO upper supervisor will leave you on hold for 3 hours and have the TIME to stay on the phone playing those kindergarden games). Now, we are back on the phone with them once again with someone who seems to have at least a level 1 IQ (im being nice) trying to get my phone reactivated since it is my work phone (which they knew from the start). This is now my 5th or 6th replacement phone from them within 8 months and have had HORROR stories happen with everything from getting broken ‘new' phones to SIM cards that are either programed wrong (since I have to keep the same number,,,,which seems to be hard for most of these CRs to understand…but brains do help even for these people) or just do not work at all. So…here I sit, no mobile phone….since the big time ‘supervisor' fake ended up saying I was trying to ‘Scam' minutes off of them when I said that I deserve SOME type of compensation for what I have been through and sent my phone ‘case' (with the 2 notes they have probably taken which are TOTALLY incorrect) to their fraud dept…yes, you read it right..their FRAUD department! Do you want to call that a joke or what! Now, I am still having problems getting my normal minutes back at all. As soon as I have a day off of work again, new mobile phone here I come! The ONLY reason why I don't give 5 stars is because of CS, which can be a bit of a pain. Otherwise it's a great service, cheap, reliable and widely available. Easy to top up, no problems with call quality or coverage. Indeed most other carriers I've used in my life can learn something from NET10. There's a lot to be said for the simplicity of their pricing and the ‘no hidden fees' approach.

As a mother of an 11 year old, I am constantly worried about my child…what she's doing, if she's safe, if her ride from school picked her up…I had been contemplating getting her a cell phone but was nervous about spoiling her too soon. She's only 11. But with our technology-driven economy, I was tempted to do it and just deal with the consequences (aka her talking on the phone with friends, texting, surfing the web…and all the other unnecessary things that come with a cell phone). My friend told me about the Net10 service and how happy she is with it. Of course, she's the one using it…not her kids. Because of the current economy, she had to cut costs in all areas and one of the ways she did this was by switching to Net10 – because of their reasonably priced plans. So I decided this would be a great communication device for my daughter. I can keep in contact with her all the time, and I control the number of minutes she gets…the best part is, you pay as you go! GREAT GREAT GREAT deal.

There are unresolved service issues with the Samsung T401G slider phones. If you are signing up for unlimited web/e-mail, plan on only using 300 minutes/month, then not accessing web/e-mail until the next month. We signed up for the unlimited talk, text and web/e-mail on 2 Samsung T401G slider phones (purchased from Target) and switched from t-mobile to Net 10 about a month ago. We paid $50 each for the first months unlimited service and it took 3 – 5 days to port our numbers to the net 10 phones. Plan for this downtime of no cell phone access. Despite having the ‘unlimited' plans, minutes were deducted for all 3 services until all 300 minutes were depleted and we were no longer able to use the phones without coughing up more $$$. It took 5 frustrating calls to the customer service ops fix to the deducted minutes issue with talk/text. Case numbers were not created until last week (3 weeks into the drama), and we need to spend 15 minutes each time re-explaining the problem to the random CSR who picks up the phone each time we call in for assistance. One month later, neither of us are able to use the browser without having the minutes deducted, and we spent 35 minutes again this morning trying to get resolution. The good: Sound quality of calls is good, reception is better than t-mobile, no dropped calls, we can now text on the qwerty keyboard. The bad: We really do have better things to do with our 3 or 4 hours a week with untrained, uncaring and rude CSRs.The ugly: We are both patient, live and let live people, but when we are frustrated, can be extremely outspoken. We are both in situations where we have frequent opportunities to influence people's cell phone service choices. Will it be ‘sign up with them, they are great' or ‘Run the other way, it's terrible'? Time will tell.Advice: 1. Don't buy the Samsung T401G phone unless you have plenty of time to work thru the issues with CS. As of right now, it appears this phone is not capable of unlimited web browsing and once you have exceeded your 300 monthly minutes, no more web browsing for you. It won't even let you add more time, even if you cough up the additional cash.2. If you do have problems, insist the CSR create a case number. Create a Net 10 file folder for all your Net 10 problems, document everything including the serial number, and the case number, dates/times called in, names of CSR's/Supervisors. You will need it.3. Don't bother calling the CS in the Phillipines or India…wherever their center is. Deal only with CSR's in the U.S. That number is 800.876.5753. Program it into your phone. Eventually you will have it memorized.4. Plan to follow up with net 10 CSR's every 24 to 48 hours. Even though they will take your phone number, they will not be calling you. It is up to you to call them and make sure they have not closed your case (ours was closed 2 or 3 times…it's easier to close a case than actually FIXING the problem).Good luck!

Although I would like to write a good review of Net10 because I like their low fees and friendly service, reality dictates that I give them 1 star. I've had two different Net10 phones, a Motorola 326g and LG 600G. I live in Seattle and am on the T-Mobile network. People are constantly complaining to me that I'm cutting out, or that they can't hear me for as long as 15 sec at a time, which I'm on the phone with them, especially so on the LG. In addition, it took me over 3 weeks and about 3 hours on the phone on numerous occasions, just for them to get my voicemail activated. Even though the customer service reps were always polite with me, I felt that they wasted my time and were not able to help me. I plan to use the rest of my minutes and switch to a different company.

I bought the LG 300 phone at Walmart, went home and activated the phone on my computer. I received my number in about 10 minutes and had 5 full signal bars. Have used AT&T for years, but their $1 a day cost and $.20 text messages got too expensive. Net 10 proved good on my phone, so I bought my teenage son the same phone and he loves it. We live in a very rural area, and with Net 10, their service rotates to the closest tower, so as you are moving, your service stays with you. When a storm took out our AT&T tower, we had no service, because prepaid users other than Net 10 and Trac have to use their own carriers tower. We had no communication. If we had purchased the Net 10 phone, we could have had service from a Sprint tower 10 miles away. So far I like Net 10 and their coverage is very broad…….For now I recommend them to everybody.

To all the people who think that BEING POLITE TO CUSTOMER SERVICE WORKS THAN THINK AGAIN. I was very polite to the reps. who told me that they are in the Phillipines but they continually put me on hold for up to 45 minutes at a time and two people hung up after putting me on hold! I have nothing against them or their accents; I have friends who are from the Phillipines, too! I had to start asking for the rep. names and employee numbers to keep them from hanging up. Their supervisors refuse to reimburse for minutes used even after they promised to reimburse some minutes an earlier day! They also refuse to honor their 30 day money back guarantee if the phone was activated at any time! The Dollar General stores also refuse to accept any returns of any electronic items and the cashier told me that this was due to people trying to return NET-10 phones! I was merely trying to transfer my phone number to the NET-10 phone and the first rep. said that she had to ask a supervisor if this was possible! After a long wait, she said that she would have to deactivate the phone to transfer the number, then transfer the number and then reactivate the phone. She only deactivated the phone and after another 20 minute wait claimed that everything was done. When I tried to call minutes were deducted but I only got a recorded message stating that my phone was deactivated and that I would need to purchase minutes and I had 277 minutes prior to this call and the minutes were going down just to get this message! I was at work as a SECURITY GUARD and I was at a location without any phones and I had told people to call me on the NET-10 phone who needed my help! Therefore, I called customer service back seven times to ask for help and informed them of this and that I was using the NET-10 phone to call them. Two people hung up after putting me on hold! Then one woman thought she could correct the problem but after a long call said that it was impossible without calling from a second phone. I called again and a woman transferred me to a technician who told me that one of the NET-10 reps. had tried to transfer minutes and my phone number to this LG300 phone and since I did not have any minutes on the old phone that the sim card was fried! Further, he said that they would send a new sim card for free and to wait 3-5 days and sometimes it may take a week. Then I asked if the 67 minutes that were exhausted from the 277 minutes would be replaced and he said yes but he estimated the time at 45 minutes. Ten days later the sim card arrived from FED-EX and the postage stated that it was supposedly over-night delivery but it took ten days?!! Then I called customer service right away from a pay phone and was told that no minutes (not to mention days) would be replaced. Then I asked for a supervisor and was on hold for 45 more minutes!! The call lasted for 70 minutes and the supervisor was unwilling to bend and all of this took place from their Phillipine call center! I told the supervisor that I still had the receipt and that I only had the phone for one week before all of the problems with trying to get my old number transferred and that I wanted to return the phone under their 30 day money back guarantee but she said that was impossible since I had already activated the phone (and had two calls to go from 300 minutes down to 277 minutes). She said that their are no returns after any activation!! FURTHER, I HAD T-MOBILE prior to this and they offer a similar prepaid plan. However, you need to spend $100 to get less than 10 cents a minute but the minutes do not expire for a year (compared to six months with NET-10) and the minutes roll over like net-10. T-mobile has much better customer service and they have stores throughout the UNITED STATES too. Their overall coverage may be less than NET-10 but if you ever have any problems that need resolution than you will appreciate a company that operates in the USA and not outsiders in foreign countries who are not willing to honor any return policy or refund minutes and days from THEIR NET-10 CUSTOMER SERVICE MISTAKES!!! If you need a reliable phone and customer service than T-Mobile is a much better alternative to NET-10, TRACPHONE or their STREET-TALK!!! T-mobile does not have any activation fee or cancellation fee either and minutes roll over. Only texting costs more at 10 cents a minute to send with 5 cents a minute to receive. I was also charged ten cents a minute with a NET-10 with an earlier phone; this is my second NET-10 phone and now I regret trying NET-10! I have had service with T-Mobile for over six years after leaving SPRINT due to sprint's poor service trying to fix a defective phone and they were not willing to replace the phone with their one year guarantee!! I work at a call center in TEXAS, USA. I do not work for t-mobile and I do not like everything about T-mobile but they are superior to NET-10!!! I hope that this helps all those people who recommend NET-10 but have not looked into T-Mobile's prepaid plan! Furthermore, by simply putting your T-Mobile sim card into any T-mobile phone you are able to easily transfer your phone number and minutes and days without needing any customer service assistance!!! I have done this and I have called T-Mobile's customer service for other help. They are far superior to TRACPHONE/NET-10/STREET TALK's customer service!! I am also polite to people on the phone as I need to, to be successful when talking to people at my place of work as I am asking strangers in the USA to please help me by completing phone surveys and I am one of the most successful at the company too. IT is not about people who were not polite…so SUPPORT THE USA…USE A COMPANY THAT CAN BE REACHED IN THE UNITED STATES….don't let a company rob American citizens by outsourcing and hiding behind that call center!! Take pride in your country, the UNITED STATES of AMERICA…your voices can be heard but not putting up with these devious tactics from TRACPHONE/NET-10/STREET TALK…a class action lawsuit would be the best thing but switching to a better company also gets our voices heard!!

I have had my Net10 phone for 23 days and it still doesn't work. Every time I try to even set up my voice mail I hold the 1 key and get a call failed message. Customer service is totally useless. I have gotten a new sim card, they even tried changing my zip code as though that would help. I am losing my days should my phone ever work and they refuse the give me back my lost days. This company is after your money. I haven't yet been able to make 1 telephone call and I did purchase their $60 Motorola slider phone because my old Motorola shows 4 bars while the one they sent me, show a little dot. That's it. Every time you call customer service, they will have you turn the phone on, then off, take out the battery, put in codes and even though nothing ever works, you must repeat this idiotic motion every time you call. So if you have money to get rid of, find a good organization here in the United States that could use your help and donate it to them.

I think that the happiest customers are the best informed ones. This goes for all prepaid plans, just read around and it seems the same everywhere. These companies are trying to offer an extremely affordable service (compared to anyone like AT&T or Verizon) and they need to cut corners somewhere to make that happen. That said 10c a minute for all calls (local, long distance and roaming) and 5c texts is the clearest, most transparent, least ‘evil' plan I've come across. If you want the latest smart phone, want to make international calls or transfer lots of data, pay the money and look elsewhere. If you use your phone a medium amount a month (about 300 minutes) and want to keep a lid on your cell phone costs, look at Net10, they offer the best value in that range.

I've had Net10 for almost 3 years, and until recently never had a complaint. I was perfectly content with my service. But then I decided to purchase a new phone to replace my old one, which has seen better days. I bought Samsung model, which promised me a new lower rate of 3 cents a minute for all text messages. I called customer service to transfer my number, and the first gentleman I spoke to was clueless and eventually disconnected me. I called back and spoke to another man who was very competent and fixed me up. But… I am still being charged 5 cents for all my texts… I'm definitely not looking forward to calling customer service again, but hopefully I can work this problem out.

I have a net10 for almost a year. I'll tell you a few little things, which will help you better understand, how the things work.First of all – if you have generally bad reception in your area DO NOT REFILL AT HOME OR THREW THE COMPUTER! You will end up calling to them and, like somebody told here – entering zillions of codes, which doesn't work.Buy a card, go to the good reception area (where you have all bars in AT&T or T-Mobile, cuz they are using those operators), and enter the code on your phone. The phones with internet access, usually uses AT&T, cheapest ones – T-Mobile and all of them, if there are no AT&T or T-Mobile reception, jumps some other network. The bad reception creates all the hassle. Like in my apartment, where even Sprint has one bar at most. Then phone starts to search for next carrier – that's when you get – no service text on the screen, while there may be few bars on the reception…Otherwise, it's just great cheap service, if you, like me using couple hundreds of minutes, and are not ready to get fantastic 39.95 deal and use maybe 1/3 of what you paid.

I've been with Net10 for over a year and have always been pleased with their service. However, recently I ordered a new phone from their website. Received it, yet they sent me the wrong SIM card. After spending 80 minutes on the phone, the problem was not resolved and they had to send me a new SIM card… they also told me they'd give me more minute for the trouble of being without my phone for those 5 days. And that generous amount was 5 minutes… what a slap in the face!BTW – the call center is located in Guyana, South America.

I have an LG flip phone. I programmed one for a lady, who bought it at Meiyer. It has done well, but going off network is a real problem. I'm unsure whether it is a bug or being kicked off by the local carrier. Up to today I might have recommended it, but only for those who want no contracts. I was royally screwed by Sprint when I had them as a carrier. (When I tried to get a cheaper plan, I was unemployed) I was offered one for $10 per month and 50 fewer minutes, only to learn that I had to pay $10 extra per month unless I signed a contract. Due to the drop in minutes I ended up paying the equivalent of 14 months in one year!)

I HAVE HAD NET 10 FOR A YEAR NOW AND AM SATISFIED. PHONE WORKS GREAT AND COVERAGE IS ALWAYS THERE. ONE THING TO REMEMBER IS THAT NET 10 USES THE PREDOMINANT CARRIER IN YOUR AREA, HERE MINE IS AT&T…

My advice is Do Not Buy a Net 10 phone.Mine shows No Service in so many places and especially when I really need it. I am stuck with minutes andthey won't transfer over to my Tracphone which works real well for me.I was hoping they would transfer since both are owned by Tracphone. I will lose 600 minutes, but I am tired of trying to deal with this phone and theservice of Net 10.

Very good phone for what I paid. I bought the NET10 W375g specifically for a trip a was taking. My current phone do not have reliable coverage outside our home area. Anyway, first off I got 300 minutes and two months service free with the phone – a good start! On the trip itself a always had good coverage, call quality is decent and I experienced no problems with the handset itself. I didn't try and link the phone to my laptop or anything like that – just used it for calls and texts. I was very impressed with the phone and also with NET10's service. I'm seriously thinking about switching over as soon as my minutes on my current phone runs out.
