although net10 does offer 10 cents a minute and 5 cent texts with no roaming charges, if you ever want to upgrade to a nicer phone, forget it !!! The phones they advertize on their website to work in a certain area will not always work and when you try to get a replacement phone it's next to impossible !!! (5 week wait and still counting!)

I've had this phone for 5 months but I've had it with the service. Not only was I not able to activate my phone on the internet but I have to call customer service each time I reload. Typing in my PIN number never worked for me so I had to suffer exasperating calls to Customer Service which always takes forever to connect to. When you have an issue you get passed on from one Call Center in Asia to another. Each time you are passed to a new person you have to explain your issue all over again. I bought a brand new Samsung Net10 phone for 49.99 (not refurb) and now I am shopping for a new phone already after 4 months, I feel I didnt get my money's worth and for all those exasperating episodes with CS, I feel ripped off. Run away from Net10. Don't touch it with a 10 foot pole if you have other choices that will work in your area. Run, run, run!

I bought a Motorola EM326g slider phone directly from Net10 with an accessary kit. The phone has many nice features, mp3, bluthooth, camera.I can't access the web browser as it was advertised to do. I have called customer support many times and still have no result. This is why I give them only 3 stars. Along with never being able to find airtime cards less than 300 miutes. I have tried their website and 5 local stores. I don't talk or text that much in the alotted time given.

Our family has 3 net 10 phones. We had small problems that were always fixed right away. In Jan. 2010,I bought a 79.00 net 10 phone from Net 10, (you can get it at WalMart for 49.99), that has internet, can send and recieve pictures ect., except for none of that works. I called ONCE they said no problem they would have it fixed in 24 to 48 hours and gave me a ticket number to call back, I called after 48 hours, they said my ticket number was canceled by mistake, give them 24 to 48 hours, in another 48 hours I emailed them, since you can't get through on the phones they said 24 to 48 hours it woukd be fixed. I can't beleive it. I want to take my 79.00 phone and stick it up there…….

Can't believe it.

NET 10 is great for the person who dosen't use their phone all the time, and can live within a plan of 150 min.to 250min a month anymore dosent make much sense to me why you would be with them anyway, also if you need a lot of things instead of there simplicity NET10 is not for you because Customer Service is not the greatest.

I been with net10 for 4 years and have transfer my # 2 times with no problem, everything was fast! I just upgrade my old net10 phone for a new one the samsung t401g and is great! 3cents a text. I agree that their customer service sucks the people can speak clearly and they try to speak so fast and all the noise in the back…. So I alwas call in Spanish and from a land phone to save minutes. Spanish service is great I guess because there's no accent to it lol.. And usually takes me 10 mnts max to fix a problem never had a major one though! And they always give me extra minutes! I guess is just like anything some people like it some don't. But is the best Pre-paid service right now because you can pay from $15 a month to $400 for 2 years. I always get the $30 = 300mts for 60 days not to short on mints not to expensive! I do believe the people having bad experience though! They should have people with good English, not trying to be racist or anything like that but some peple have trouble understanding and it would be much easier and faster. Well that's just my opinion…

I have had their service for only 5 days and have had received more problems from them than my last carrier in two years! My old phone got turned off but I had to wait for them to turn on my old phone! I paid for the unlimited service but they gave me a 300 min plan! I ran out of min and could not use my phone! They finally turned it on but when I tried to get my browser fixed the things they wanted me to do ended up deleting all the numbers off my phone!! I've never been so furious with a company! That's only the tip of the iceberg. I could talk all day about their awful customer service!

Customer service is the worst. Your calls go to some other country and sounds like a frat party in the background. Very unprofessional and not responsive to problems. How does 8 hrs of phone time sound to fix a simple problem??? Add to that promises made by three employees on three separate calls only to be denied by other employees. I finally realized empoyees tell you what you want to hear just to get you off the phone. They don't give you their true names, so no one will know who you are talking about. Trust worthy they are not. don't expect resolution of problems, do expect deceit. When I threatened to write a letter to the company about them telling me to needlessly buy more of their product to fix a problem they created, a ‘manager' Michelle replied ‘I don't care'. That sums it up. RUN, DO NOT WALK AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE BAD NEWS. BORDERLINE FRAUDULENT.

TERRIBLE SERVICE! I said to my family and friends background noise during support sounded like a crowded food court in a busy mall. I agree with the frat party background!!!! Not to menion they have no idea on issues with these phones and both mine and daughter have same issues. What are the chances on 2 defective phones? This is my Second issue through net 10 with lg600 phone. 1st was our voice mail, wasted 10 of my min trying to set it up, when it should be free website said so. Called support issue was never fixed!Still no voice mail Was on the landline for 48min. left phone on like they said and issue was never resolved! I left it go because I figured it out by googling it. Also got the PROPER manual for my phone on my search, Net 10's version tell you nothing about the phone! Initially I emailed them on new problem after 1st failed attempt with phone. they sent me a code to put in and it disabled my prepaid service. This issues was reported to them on the 22cnd today is the 26th i gave them the benifit that it was the weekend and waited 48 hours during bussiness hours. Now mind you I have had no phone for 4 days. Gave them my ticket #s and they had no idea of what was going on AAAAAUUUGGGGHHH!!!!!! They are on there last chance if new phones do not work I will report them to better bussness bureau. There needs to be a way to end this frustration.

Net 10 has great coverage, easy to purchase minutes and a low price. However, their customer service sucks unless you speak Spanish. You will be on hold FOREVER and then you won't get any straight answers. DO NOT transfer an old number to a new phone. Always get a new number even though it's inconvenient. It's a nightmare for them to transfer an existing number to a new phone and you'll have no working phone for 72 hrs.

You might need to be a little patient with net10. Customer service does stink, but the phone service is great and cheap and very simple -10 cents a minute to talk in the US, no exceptions. How to avoid having to use customer service: Buy new phones. Avoid used or refurbished. They are in many cases free, if you count the $30 of service included with them. Don't transfer a number from another company. Activate on the internet. Usually it is easy to transfer another net10 phone number to a new net10 phone. My only bad experience was when I tried it with a used/refurb. I admit that was a unreal bad experience which I couldn't get fixed until I looked up their executives on the internet and sent them an email detailing my experience. Then an English speaking person called me on a SUNDAY and the problem was fixed immediately. Overall, I am a very satisfied customer because the phone service is so good and simple.

I like the simplicity and PRICE of Net10. I hate their customer service. It usually takes forever to get anyone and then its so noise you can't hear anything let alone understand the rep. My problem is, I have been trying to download ringtones off their site for weeks. They said they would ‘update my software' and that should fix the problem, it didn't. Now I have the dreaded job of calling them back. Pretty soon I'm just going to see if I can connect from the phone and use up a few minutes. Otherwise, highly reccomend if you are like me and my family and only use about 50 minutes a month. Tip: get on the easy $15 a month plan so all your minutes ROLL OVER!

You get what you pay for. I loved the simplicity of the low flat rate, but I dropped Net10 for 2 reasons: terrible customer service and the poor hardware choices. When I left Sprint, Sprint released my number for porting in less than an hour. 24 hours later, Net10 STILL hadn't activated my number AND when I called they told me it could take up to 7 business days. How many people can go phoneless for 7 days?? Keep in mind the FCC recommends that carriers port numbers within 2 hours! So I demanded a supervisor, kept harassing them, then finally, after spending over an HOUR on the phone with ‘customer service' (thank god I have a landline phone so I didn't have to pay by the minute for this call!) they finally ported my number. Their call center is in Manila (Philippines) and their poor English language skills contributed greatly to my frustration. When I got ready to leave Net10, they were similarly difficult in releasing my number. I was on the phone with Customer Service for my new carrier and Net10 simultaneously so they could verify my identity and authorize the porting. We were on the phone for over 41 minutes!! Then, Net10 said they would release the number within 1 hour. Yep, 4 hours later, no release. I called, went through the whole song-and-dance AGAIN, and FINALLY got my number released. This scarred me so much I will never deal with Net10 again. Issue #2: handset choices are very unsophisticated. For texting, a full QWERTY keyboard is a must for me and the Samsung T401G was a huge disappointment. The keyboard is big but has such flat keys, it was much more difficult to use than the smaller keyboards on my old Blackberry or Samsung Ace. The build quality of the phone was extremely cheap also. Call quality was extremely poor. Many of my calls had to be redialed because of terrible reception. Since I live in a large city with great coverage (Chicago), I believe my poor call quality was due to my handset, not the network. Since Net10 forces you to use one of their own handsets, I had to switch. All that aside, however, Net10 could be the perfect choice for a very specific user: someone who wants a phone for emergency use only. If you don't need to port a number and want a phone just for occasional use, then the simple handsets and low prices could be a perfect fit. Just be sure you have a landline for those customer service calls!

Ive been with Net10 for about 2 years now, and I actually really like it. Im a stay at home mom, so I dont have much need for a pricey cell phone plan, being as I really only use the phone to call home when Im out, for emergencies, and for texting a few relatives and friends. I switched from Net10 to Virgin Mobile about 5 months ago, because I really wanted a phone w/ a qwerty keyboard. VM's service was horrible. Calls were dropped, texts didnt go thru, it was bad. And considerably more expensive, being as you had to buy a seperate ‘texting plan' in order to text – whereas Net10, your texts just come right out of your existing minutes. After only 2 months w/ VM, I switched back to Net10, with the new Samsung T401G w/ qwerty keyboard. The phone is both inexpensive and functional. I get great reception, Ive never had problems w/ texts not received, or calls dropped. I will admit, Net10's customer service department leaves alot to be desired, but, so do MOST customer service departments nowdays. Net10 is an excellent option for those that simply dont want to deal with the monthly expense of a cell phone plan. if I dont feel the need to have a cell for a few months, I just dont buy more minutes. Simple as that.

Phone is great (Motorola em326g)…but, phone accessories and customer service are TERRIBLE. Phone came with a 2GB memory card that did not work right out of the package. Unbranded card (like all of the accessories). On hold with customer service forever. No resolution after 30 minutes on the phone!! Please hold, please hold, please hold, please hold, please hold – uggghhhh Such a shame….this could have been a five star review. Low quality parts and poor customer service will prevent me from recommending this company to friends.

net10 seems to me to be a scam, especially if you need it for international long distance.1. when the access number is dialed and then the int. number the phone will cut off after about 2 mins. meanwhile minutes run down at international rates. After maby four or five tries you MIGHT get thru.2. if you call customer service they will leave you hanging on the line as long as you can tolerate, again with minutes running down.3. if you do get to talk to someone it is very rare that they will be of any help at all, or even understand your problem, another way of keeping your mins. running down.Of the 600 minutes I purchased with this phone 75% of these were spent trying to contact net10 to solve thos problem WITH NO SATISFACTION WHATSOEVER. DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE CHEAP RATES,THEY ARE A RIPOFF AND SHOULD GO OUT OF BUSINESS.

is it just me or does anyone else out there find it impossible to purchase a phone from net10's website using a credit card??? i have tried countless times over the past 3 weeks to buy a phone on their website to no avail. when i submit the order, i get a message stating that there was authorization problems with my credit card. i called my credit card co. and they told me everything was in good standings on my account. they even told me they could see that the purchase on my account was pending net10's approval. i even had several of my family members attempt to purchase a phone online using their computer and their credit card and their orders were rejected too. i called net10 about this numerous times only to get the usual runaround , being put on hold to speak to their supervisor and being transferred to other depts. i am really beginning to suspect that something is wrong with the company and maybe they are preparing to go belly up.

NET10 is a great service!! Their new plan called NET10 Unlimited I found at Target and they offer unlimited talking, texting, and data all for $50/mo. Of all the plans I've signed up for, this is by far the most bang for my buck. The phones are really cheap in price, not quality. I've never had to deal with bad reception or dropped calls. Customer service is very receptive to questions and inquiries. I'm a happy customer and I'd recommend this plan to friends and strangers alike!

(whom I could not understand) indicated a bad connection , but having taken all the information….couldn't help me and told me to call back. The 2nd call….again…gave all my information and once again put me on hold to contact supervisor…then on hold again transferring me to another department. No one should have to go through this. After experiencing this not sure if I want to stay with Net 10 or recommend this service to anyone. This was so time consuming and I DO NOT have the time to do this…adding minutes when necessary. While I will agree the customer service people are hard to understand, my husband and I have had several phones with them and have been customers for a long time. Every time we get new phones the process to transfer numbers and minutes from old to new phone is quite easy. Have had no problems yet. And just recently I received message that I get 100 extra minutes with the next 3 airtime minutes I add. Was a little skeptical but yesterday added my 200 minutes (new to Walmart) and actually got my 100 extra minutes. Will never go back to contract phone again.

Net10 is not good if you live in a rural area. You might have to get in your car and ride up the road a couple of miles to place a call. BUT, compared to signing a contract and paying those huge bills, I will stick with NET10. I get good connections as long as I am in the city. May be just particular to my area. Thank God for the old stand-by house phone. For 15 bucks a month, NET10 gives you your money's worth. At least I know I won'tbe overcharged or get any unwanted surprises. As for customer service, I have never had a problem other than understanding the accents. But I encounter that with other services. If you don't want to be ripped off and don't talk all the time, you should be fairly pleased with NET10.

The worst customer service I've ever encountered. The number assigned to my phone was a long-distance number, which I discovered after I received a $95 phone bill. I've tried three times to have the number changed to a local number and three times I have received another long-distance number. When I requested the area code that I knew would be local for me, they said the department that handles that is ‘busy' and I should hold. I've been on hold now for an hour while that department is ‘busy.' I know it's just a dodge to get me to hang up and go away. If you use their service, double check the assigned number!!

The computer program that they claim runs the system and keeps them from making common sense changes to your account must be archaic and sadistic in nature. We spent 3 hours on the phone only to be told they were free minute and they could not replace free minute we complained and were passed from person to person and finally told that it was fixed and the minutes would be on our phone in fifteen minutes we said we would wait the fifteen minutes and they hung up on us and the minutes never showed up. -5 Stars. After pestering customer service for weeks, they finally gave me an 800 number to use for calling a number in Brazil. No other way to make a call to Brazil since their dialing instructions don't work. Of course, can't make calls to any other number in Brazil, only the one that's been programmed. Customer service stinks, can be in queue for indefinite time. Techs are clueless and are based in Phillipines, Columbia, and heaven knows where else.

Horrible! I bought the Samsung T401G model because texts were only $0.03 (according to the packing). Yet, every text is being charged at $0.05 When I call to get this fixed, I'm told that they're showing me being billed at the 3 cent rate; despite the fact that my phone shows different. No one at Net10 cares about fixing my problem. The only good thing is that I'm not stuck in a contract and I can port the number. As soon as my prepaid card is up, Net10 will be history. I just regret that I didn't do enough research before selecting them!

I have had my Net 10 phone for about 4 years. I live in the country so cell phones don't always have a good signal. I have as good a signal with Net 10 as I did with Cingular and AT&T for a WHOLE lot less money. At this point I don't have to buy any more minutes till July of 2010 which beats the heck out of all the other contract carriers at 50 bucks a month. But my cell phone is not grown to my ear like so many people I see. These phones are pretty straight forward and I believe they have a place for people that don't want all the bells and whistles and don't want to mortgage the house to pay for them. I love mine.

They then sent the wrong phone for my return! They sent a STRAIGHT TALK phone. I do not want a straight talk plan!!! Now they will not resolve the problem!! I am getting no customer service help!! Every time I call, I have to read off tons of serial numbers, case numbers, and ticket numbers. Then they transfer you to someone else, just to spend another hour giving all the same numbers to this person!!! Frankly I am sick of it!! Lucky I am laid off or I would not be able to spend all that time on the phone with customer service!! NOT HAPPY!!!!

It doesn't matter how many times i have tried to get them to relize some of the phones with SIM cards stink, they only say ‘well there must be a malfunction in the phone', we can send u out a new one. The problem is also they dont tell u that it is refurbished, and u still have the same problem wiht the ‘NEW' phone.

Then I only received 10 minutes of air-time instead of the 300 I was supposed to receive. Again after many calls (more than an hour), I was told that I received the minutes (basically calling me a liar). So I cancelled the phone

They take hours of notes and update you account every two minutes that takes 5 to 10 minutes but on the next call to these morons they have no notes on file. I purchased two net10 phones in trying to get on an unlimited plan and the first phone was an incorrect model. I bought the correct model for an unlimited plan (Motorola EM326G) and tried to get on an unlimited plan twice on the phone, the first time I was on hold for 45 minutes and hung up, the second time the woman had no idea how to help me and had to ask the supervisor several times and finally I was told I had to wait 24 hours to get on an unlimited plan and then try again with no explanation and she quickly hung up. Still fighting to get on an unlimited plan several days later. Everytime I call, I can hardly understand anyone as they have VERY distinct accents which I can barely understand, the website is of no use if you are trying to purchase an unlimited plan because there is really no help on the site to set one up. My aunt bought me a new Net 10 Samsung phone on Jan. 1st. I've been trying to activate it for about 5 days with no luck. I called the customer service number on the red card. They transfered the minutes and cell number from my old phone to my new phone, but they didn't activate it. I called again after business hours and got an automated voice that led me through steps to activate it. At the end of the process, the voice said, ‘Your Net 10 phone is now activated.' I looked at the screen on the phone, and it was NOT activated. Every time I try to dial a number, a message pops up saying, ‘Check Call Restrictions – 34.' The numbers are local numbers. I don't know why, but this phone WILL NOT activate. This is really irritating. The freaking clock won't even set.

They love to pass the buck, and noone is particularly interested in solving your problem. Also paying their periodic fee is a pain. It would be so simple to just set up an automatic withdrawl from your credit card or checking account, but they make the set up procedure a pain. You must have current service at the time you sign up. But they will not post date that to coincide with your due date. You must remember to instigate the auto pay on the correct due date, or they will bill you twice every month! Gooood Grieeeef!!!! Therefore 3 stars only

I have the same problem as Rodrigo (post below) with the ID caller, on outgoing calls the recipients caller ID shows the name of my phones previous owner and therefore the people I'm calling ignore the call (they don't know it's me calling). I've contacted Net10 several times about this. One response made absolutely no sense at all (as in, it was actually incoherent) and twice I was told that the problem was with the recipients service provider and that the recipient needed to contact their provider and tell them to update their info. This makes no sense to me as EVERY person I call, regardless of who their provider is, is seeing the wrong name. It seems more likely that Net10 needs to update their info. I don't suppose there's any chance of that happening though. It is a very annoying issue and in some ways does make the phone unusable (if no one will answer my calls, what good is it?). Other than this issue, however, I'm very pleased with the phone and phone service (customer service, not so much).

THE DEDUCTED THE FEE DECEMBER 28, 2009. HERE I AM ON JANUARY 02, 2010 AND I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE MINUTES. I STARTED ABOUT A WEEK AGO BY PERFORMING THE STEPS THEY SENT ME, VIA E-MAIL, TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM BUT THAT DIDN'T WORK. I SENT THEM AN E-MAIL AND WAS ADVISED THAT WOULD REPLY WITHIN 24 HOURS. THEIR REPLY WAS FOR ME TO CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE FIRST DAY I CALLED I GAVE UP AFTER RECEIVING A MESSAGE SAYING THEY WERE EXPERIENCING A HIGH CALL VOLUME AND COULD NOT TAKE MY CALL. THE SECOND DAY I GOT THROUGH AFTER ABOUT A HALF HOUR ON HOLD, ONLY TO BE PUT ON HOLD AGAIN BY THE REP. WHO STATED HE HAD TO TALK TO HIS SUPERVISOR. WHEN THE REP. RETURNED HE SAID HE COULD NOT HELP ME AND I NEEDED TO CALL BACK TOMORRO, 01-02-2010. I HAVE BEEN ON HOLD NOW FOR ABOUT 3 AND 1/2 HOURS AND NOBODY WILL PICK UP THE PHONE. Cons: Customer service is horrid. Getting another country to do your customer service work is nuts. Took me 2-3 weeks to get my phone number ported, and I had no service during that time. Also the phones are hideously low end. Pros: THE best plan. Hands down. I keep looking for a different carrier with a similar deal so I can get a better phone, but there are none. No other company seems to even want to touch it, sadly, and you can't beat $15(150min)/mo with minutes that don't expire and time that is added to current time. It is simply the best plan. Also I got the phone (refurb) free when I ordered it online, only paid for minutes. The phone, cheappy thing that it is, works well. Good reception.

If you are looking to travel, just stay inside the US, I travel frequently and every company has dead zones, but by far net10 has been the best to me. I have the LG600 and my family members have the lower price range phones and they work well. Gotta wonder if those reviewers are living in lala land or I'm living wrong : )Bought a Net10 samsung phone with ‘3 cents texts' on the packaging and had to spend almost 2 hours online and on the phone with tech support telling me that I should be paying 5 cents for texts. Doesn't sound like a big deal but since they advertise on the package 3 cents then why not actually honor that? Also, the net10 minutes that are supposedly 10 cents dwindle down quickly because they use some kind of net10 math where things aren't as they promise. Bad company to use in my experience as is Virgin Mobile who make everything complicated with top-offs, etc. All I want is a prepaid cell for around 30-40 a month that isn't ripping me off at every turn!
