THE NET 10 CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE! I HAVE SPENT OVER TWO WEEKS AND FIVE HOURS IN A DAY TALKING WITH AND MOSTLY BEING PLACED ON HOLD FOR 90% OF THAT TIME, TRYING TO GET A PHONE ACTIVATED JUST TO FIND OUT THAT THE SIM CARD IS DEFECTIVE AND THEY REFUSE TO SEND ANOTHER ONE OVER NITE. THIS IS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. THEY DONT SPEAK GOOD ENGLISH AND ALL THEY DO IS REPEAT THE SAME THINGS OVER AND OVER. I HATE THE COMPANY FOR THEIR LACK OF PROBLEM RESOLUTION WITH THEIR OWN EQUIPMENT AND SERVICE. THE FLOOR SUPERVISORS ACT LIKE THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING AND THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY THEY CAN CHANGE OR DO ANYTHING DIFFERENTLY TO ASSIST YOU. THEY DONT HAVE ANY MEANS TO ACCOUNT FOR THEIR MISTAKES OR SCREW UPS BUT THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY IN LESS THAN 2 SECONDS. WHETHER OR NOT THEY CAN PROVIDE YOU WITH THE SERVICE YOU'VE PAID FOR, THEY TAKE THE $ AND TRY THEIR BEST TO GET AROUND JUST HANDLING THE SITUATION AT A LEVEL BOTH PARTIES CAN AGREE UPON. THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY AND WHO CARES IF YOU ACTUALLY GET THE USE OF THE SERVICE OR NOT; THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY NOW AND THERES NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT. ALL VIEWERS: DO NOT GET NET 10! I REPEAT, DO NOT GET NET 10! IT WILL BE ONE OF THE BIGGEST PURCHASE MISTAKES YOU'VE EVER ENCOUNTERED!!!

just got the t401g, and i am happy with their service. Howecer the t401g charges more per text than they say (5 cents instead of 3). well, i called them and they said they upgraded the phones or something, and the t401g has 5 cents. What gets me pissed is that they upgrade the phone but not the package which says three cents per message. Nevertheless, they have good service and i am happy with what was provided.

A little clarification for Barbaro: What is exclusive to Target is the ‘Net10 Unlimited', which works as a separate company. Their website is net10unlimited.com. But now, the ‘regular' Net10 has added two new plans as of recent: a $25/750 Minutes Monthly Plan and a $50/Unlimited Minutes Plan, which is interchangeable, if needed, with any of the other ‘regular' Net 10 plans. A bit confusing, I know; I just wonder where Net10 is going with this. One thing is for certain: Net10 is more valuable than ever with these additional monthly plans.

My wife and I both use Net10 and have been very happy until the need for Customer Service became necessary.I decided to go with the Unlimited Plan, and purchased a new phone with full keypad. According to the booklet that came with my new phone, any minutes left on my old phone would be lost unless transferred to another Net10 phone (my wife's). Unable to find how do this process on-line, I called Customer Service. My opinion of Net10 went downhill on a greased slide from that point.Once I waited what seemed like a lifetime for a rep to ‘help me', the phone was answered by a very polite woman with such a STRONG Indian accent that it was VERY difficult to understand what she was saying (We are English speaking and live in New England, U.S.A.). As difficult as this was for BOTH of us to navigate, it was made a THOUSAND TIMES WORSE by the fact that the other Customer Service reps were so loud that I couldn't hear the woman I was TRYING to communicate with. It sounded as if there were 50 other SHOUTING reps in the same room with her. She was very polite and kept trying to help me, but I finally got so frustrated with this situation of asking her to repeat EVERYTHING SHE SAID 10 times, I just said ‘thank you for your help', and hung the damned thing up. What a shame. Both of us have been VERY happy with Net10, but this has us both considering changing our service to another carrier. Here's a little suggestion to the Net10 Executives. Try calling your own Customer Service Department with a REAL problem. Rate the service you were able to receive (I would rate it either an F or D-).Without EFFECTIVE Customer Service, you have NOTHING worth my hard earned dollars. Net10 Executives need to put on their big boy boxers and fix the TERRIBLE customer service issues.

I've heard a lot of good things about Net10 but since I live on my phone, the 10c/min, 3c/text would not be economical for me. I was super happy to hear of the Net10 unlimited plan. Been a customer for a little over a month now and so far loving it!

Bought the Samsung 401 and it is a nice little phone. I switched from tracfone, which has been my only wireless service provider, when Net10 offered 750 minute card for only $25 with 30 days of service. The only hassle will be adding a new card every 30 days; but doing it online should be smooth sailing. I bought the phone at a local retailer and ported my old tracfone number on-line. Having everything switched over took a matter of minutes. People should stop complaining about customer service reps who do not speak perfect English….we live in a global village so get over it. And, why not do these simple tasks for yourself? Read a little and take a few minutes of your own time and the process should be fairly straightforward. For such small amounts of money compared to the major wireless providers, I don't know what these people are expecting. Switch to another carrier and get an expensive contract that you are locked into for years if Net10/Tracfone are so bad; and the customer service will likely be no different.

NET10 is a ripoff! I WAS a loyal customer for about seven years until last week when my old phone quit. It was worn out and I bought a new phone then activated it and transferred my remaining minutes from the old phone. Except the new phone wil not work! Over the last week I have spent about 6 1/2 hours on the phone with ‘talking parrots' from all over the world who only speak a few english phrases and can only understand even less. They have given me an ENDLESS run-around trying to stall me until I hang up, or endlessly having me enter new codes that don't work; literally DOZENS of times! The new phone is defective and they refuse to admit it. They even accused me of stealing it! I have been ripped off and next I will be complaining to the Better Business Bureau, our state attorney generals' office, and the retailer where I bought the phone (Target).

I don't understand all these negative comments. I've been with Net10 since May and had no problems. Customer service is iffy, but they came through. I have family members using Net10 or TracFone for years and are very satisfied with everything. Right now I will be upgrading my phone (Samsunbg T201G) for the Motorola W408G and will go with their 750 Minutes/$25 Monthly Plan.

Terrible Customer ServiceSIM Error Message [Tue Oct 05 2010 08:07:45 GMT-0400 (Eastern Daylight Time)] My number was ported on Sep 14th and I have received a total of 4 different sims & my phone still says unregistered sim on the main screen. I have spenthours on the phone with customer service to no avail. Last Tuesday,9-28, the rep said you were sending a 5th sim. Last night I called customer service and was told that the 5th sim had been canceled. Why couldn't someone have let me know that & why. Then that rep's computer crashed and she said I'd have to call back. I called back and was on the phone for approx. an hour and the rep picked up the phone (I could hear the boiler room noise) then hung up and disconnected the call. I have had enough of your poor service, please refund the cost of my Net10 phone.*ESN o IMEI:* 358308010692189

everything was mediocre until I did not receive my minutes for this month, but my bank account was charged. After 40 minutes on the phone (most of it on hold) I canceled my account with them, because they had no record of the mistake. $15 down the loo… could be worse. But their costumer service should be loads better– and people with the same problem as I need to be recompensed. You're taking a gamble, accepting their fantastic rates yet receiving little support if there is a problem…

This has got to be the worst prepaid phone service ever. I can never get any service no matter where I go and it cuts my off as a new minute starts, so my minutes get wasted. Also I get phony texts that never have anything on them so when you open them you just waist the fee. I WILL NEVER USE A NET 10 PHONE EVER AGAIN.

I switched to Net10 in October 2009. September this year the battery died. Customer service told me the batteries for my phone was expensive and it would be cheaper to purchase a new phone. I purchased another Net10 phone and requested next day delivery. I called a few hours before the cut-off time for next day delivery so I was not worried. So I called customer service the next day to inquire around what time FedEx would be dropping off my package. The customer service operator did not have any proof of my order. After speaking with a supervisor, she told me my order should be delivered today. Well, no phone and again, no one from Net10 seem to have a history of my order. I thought saving a few bucks going to prepaid would be worth it. Boy, was I wrong.

My husband and I bought 2 net10 phones a few months ago. After my husband switched to another company because he wanted a special cell phone Net10 doesn't have, I decided to take my husbands old net10 phone but wanted to keep my number. So I called the customer service and described my wish. They send me a new SIM card for my husbands phone (took about 4 business days) without any extra charges. When the card arrived I called customer service again to transfer my number to my husbands phone. It took about 4 hours till the number was transfered. All customer service representatives were very friendly and very accurate. One of them had a heavy accent but since I myself am not a native speaker, too, I didn't really mind. All in all I am very happy with my phone, the costs, and the customer service.

Wish they had a 0 Star rating..absolutely the worst c/s fiasco of any company anywhere/anytime!! Gave my phone to a friend after I ported out (thank goodness) and it's been a week with calls daily to c/s trying to reactivate it..nothing! C/s has many excuses: can’;t find MEID/HEX number, call back in 12-24 hours, it's all ready activated, ask politely to speak to supervisor and get hung up on..3x! Run, don't walk away from this company.

Very affordable, very reliable, very nice handset I've got now.

Good: Inexpensive phone and minutes for low usage. Used them for 3 years+Bad: My replacement phone did not work, and 6-8 long calls and numerous hours dealing with customer service in spanish (colombia) as well as english (guiana?) to try to fix it. Very poor follow up on my calls-even with a case record #. I have done numerous response to one problem: code promise to receive new sim card next day (call 1); no record of new sim card needed (Call 2); sim card should be received within a week what is my address? (call 3); hang up call when I mentioned the conflictive answers (call 4); to No sim card needed, phone should work tomorrow. (Call 5). Generally polite spanish call center.

I feel for those people who had bad experience with Net10 as was my experience with my previous carrier…hence the switch. I must say that I've been with Net10 for a year now and I have nothing but positive thing to say about the phone and the service. The best part is that I save about $40 a month, have better reception than ever and I love the convenience of being able to buy airtime right from my phone!

The 1st time I tried to add minutes it started a cycle of failed updates using the site online, then techs on the phone also failed, nothing worked until I talked with a supervisor, she was excellent. Now,months later,I just today added a card, the phone said ‘unavailable' but the process went well online and took only a short time to complete. I gave 5 star rating because of the supervisor's performance,I am saving good money by using Net10,and,I see no need to dwell on the early problem.

We started off with Net10 several months ago (from Tracfone) because my daughter wanted a phone with a qwerty & Tracfone just hasn't caught up with the times as of yet. So, I shopped around for the best prepaid deal (I REFUSE to sign a contract with a cell phone provider; just not gonna do it) that included a qwerty & Net10 is what I found. Let me say, that it did not start well. We activated her, but the T401g was supposed to get $.03, not the $.05 she was being charged. I HATE calling CS, but that's what I had to do & it was a very frustrating experience. The CS's are polite enough, but they are hard to understand not only due to the thick accents, but more so (in my humble opinion) due to their crappy headsets & heavy background noise. Anyway, we went thru the whole riggamoro, and after entering several codes we got it down to the advertised $.03. THEN, when I tried to add minutes about a month or so later, I did it over the internet & it didn't take. I once again had to call CS, which I can't express how much I hate to do(it's not them, it's just one of my quirks), BUT they fixed the problem. Very polite, nice; just took a few minutes of my time & she was off to go. After that, I bought airtime cards & they worked like a charm; no CS, YEAH! So recently Net10 has added these monthly plans to compete with StraightTalk–the $25 (750mins) & $50 (unl) plans. After more research, I decided the $25 monthly plan would be a more cost effective route for her. Added the $25 card online (can't find in stores yet), worked like a charm. No problems, she was upgraded in seconds. Now, with my husband, he just got a promo at work & has started using his cell a LOT more lately, so we were talking about moving him from Tracfone to StraightTalk, BUT after researching into the $25 Net10 plan, I thought this might be a better deal. Now with ST, you do get more, IF you are going to use that amt, it would probably be better to go with them, but even with all our xtra cell phone activity, for us, the 750 mins will probably do the trick, so we decided to change my husband to Net10. The thing I like about Net10 compared to ST is if you usage does go down, you can go from a monthly plan back to a certain bundle of minutes. ST, you don't have that option; it's only monthly. Anyway, bought my husband a qwerty phone yesterday, ported his cell # this a.m. It was complete in mere seconds, literally; superfast. Now we did have the $.05 text issue once again. I tried the #'s I had been given for my daughter & they didn't work & then the phone locked up, so DON'T USE OLD CODE #'S. They only work for the specific situation, so if you try to use old code #'s, you'll probably lock up your phone, as I did. I called CS. Got a young lady who spoke very clear English (no background noise, so if you have to call CS, a.m. may be the best time). She unlocked the phone & walked me thru new codes to get the $.03 text & now it's working like a charm. Ya'll that have TRULY had a bad experience with Net10, I'm sorry. My point to this is, in the beginning, yes I probably would have given them a 1 star, but now after being with them for a while & dealing with their service & getting over myself having to call CS, they really are a good company. I only give them a 4 star because of the whole $.03/$.05 problem. It apparently happens a lot, so if you get one of their $.03 text phones, just do it knowing you are going to have to call CS & get it corrected, but in the grand scheme of life, it really isn't that big of a deal. It'll get fixed, and life will all be good again. I personally am still on Tracfone, but I don't use my cell that much, but I do want a qwerty, so probably will transfer myself to Net10 within the next few months. With the new services they are offering they are making themselves very competitive with other prepaids. All in all, they are a really good company.

Pros: Instant cell phone use. My mom was put in the hospital unexpectedly. I was able to go to walmart, purchase a cheap phone, and have it up and running before i left the store. We activated it at the cash register. I was able to call relatives on the way back to the hospital. Minutes seem to last a long time at 10 cents. When you run out of time and you purchase a card of minutes, it automatically extends your days for you so you don't run out of days. I really like the phone. I don't want a camera or internet service or a toy. Just a phone. The only thing i don't like is that occasionally some fool texts me and i get charged for it. I don't have the choice of whether or not i want to accept or refuse the text. And, I cannot deactivate the mechanism that i know of. I'm going to the net 10 website now to check that feature out. BUt that is the only thing i don't like. If you want just a basic phone without the bells and whistles, this will work just fine.

Phone service fine. Doing ANY business with Net10 is HORRIBLE!! I've used it for just over a year and won't go into the list of issues but I suggest: DO NOT buy air time online – it has never updated correctly and has taken an average of 5 contacts to resolve, and hours on hold. I think that if you physically buy a card and add air time you may have better luck. It has taken 4 to 5 calls and perpetual waits to do anything. One time put my phn on speaker phone and went about my day and finally hung up 6 hours later !!!! (Heaven help those that don't have a land line. IT seem that getting service via the intent is a dead end also.

Got ANOTHER automated response telling me that I would need to replace my SIM card and that it would take 7-10 business days (2 weeks) to replace.By that time I had already returned home from my trip and no longer needed the phone.I then tried to get a refund and was told that they do NOT issue refunds.I was basically robbed. I am leaving Net 10 because I have never been able to simply add minutes to the phone by going online or using the add minutes funtion on the phone. I have always had to have my wife call the Spanish-speaking operator to sort things out because I can't understand the overseas call center's English-speaking operators' thick accents. If adding airtime was not so difficult, I would be perfectly happy with this phone. Sorry Net 10, you've lost this customer.

Just purchased a 401G samsung with querty keyboard. Had tracfone previously for several years, only changed because the phone could not display photos being sent by friends with with much more expensive phones that were sending pictures w/3 megapixel cameras!! this phone could get the photos as I sent one to myself. had to call customer service so the phone would deduct.3 of a minute for texts instead of .5, still tough to understand the reps. Have to be patient, They answered the phone immediately and after inserting all th ese codes, the phone now deducts the correct .3 of a minute. Haven't had much trouble with Tracfone in the past as far as phone service, most dropped or just no service was in hilly areas which is not a problem where I live in Florida. I would recommend this company.

I was without phone service for 31 days, spent over 20 hours on the phone with customer service (mostly polite but hard to understand – obviously connected to India or Mexico each time), and the issue is still not resolved the way it should be. I filed a Better Business Bureau complaint and that has helped me get better customer service, though still not resolved. I also got the phone number to the corporate office in Florida and that helped. Net 10 was a good, affordable cell phone choice at first, but trying to upgrade, transfer the phone number, minutes, and service created this mess, even though their website says it is a quick and easy process.

NET10 is really trustworthy. I have been using them for a while and were always impressed with the simple pricing plan and the fact that there are no ‘extras' added when you buy your minutes, unlike so many other carriers. Now I am impressed once again: I bought a new handset, carried over my old number with no fuss and started using it. I noticed they charged 5c per text even though this phone is supposed to be 3c per text. I know the standard rate is 5c but this is a lower rate specifically for certain handsets. Anyway, a few minutes with CS resolved the problem with absolutely zero quibble from the rep. Very friendly too. Thanks NET10.

I bought a net ten phone for my 11 year old son 2 years ago. I went to up grade his model and roll over minutes. That went o.k but trying to keep the same number! Then that phone broke so we decided to use the original phone. We were told to buy more min and to wait an hour. No luck. Now we have to wait for a sim card. We have to wait a week. We need his phone to work now! Net ten customer service sucks ass. And they don't speak english well. Its all fine if you keep on the time to get your new minutes and don't ever get a new phone or try to keep the same number. As soon as his minutes run out Im done. After this it seems that contracts arent so bad. I hope they really read this and fix the problem.

My experience with Net10 has been superb: pricing is good, service is excellent. Customer service can be a challenge. Here's a tip: If you speak Spanish or know someone who does, call on the Spanish line. Since Spanish is their main language, communication is very good, unlike the English line that connects you to India and other non-English speaking countries. Also, Net10 is not only 10 cents a minute. One can get 900 and 1500 minute plans at 0.0666666 cents a minutes (less than 7 cents!) with 90 and 180 service days, respectively. The Easy Minute plan is also an excellent choice: 200 minutes for $15 and 500 minutes for $30 (but no rollover, I think). All of these plans are on their website only. Contracts anyone? Not here!

Got a Net10 phone to take on a trip. It worked in that I could make and receive calls. But I could never get the voice mail activated, and after spending literally hours on the phone with Net10 customer service, gave up in despair. The customer service reps always spoke from a canned script (which involved lots of stall tactics), and although polite were never able to resolve the problem. Several times I was told to hang up and wait 4 hours for the phone to be reset. It never worked. Then I'd call back and spend another hour or two on the phone with them, only to be told ‘Call us back in 24 hours.' I was ready to buy extra minutes and keep using the phone, but the absolutely horrible customer service put me off. Next time I'll go with a more expensive prepaid that has US-based customer service and some sense of accountability.

I've always used net 10 services and like the simplicity of the rates. It meets my needs and then some. However, the customer service department is terrible. It is often difficult to understand the representative on the phone. The selection of phones to choose from is very limited and not consistant with the growth of other wireless phones. While other wireless companies often discontinue outdated phones and upgrade. Net ten does not. As a loyal customer, I hoped that I would be given a better selection of phones. A touch phone would be nice.

I've had a Net10 phone for 3 years. Reception has been pretty good everywhere except in mid Nevada. I like the small size of the LG phone but it's easy to lose out of a pocket as it slips on the rounded edges. Battery lasts 3-5 days on average. The biggest problem for me is the short expiration time of minutes. $30 for 60 days. I'd be way happier with a 90 day expiration. It ends up costing 15 a month which is a bit higher than I like. I've never had to call CS and after reading stuff here, I hope I never have to. Overall it's ok but, I'm looking for a service with a 365 day expiration on minutes like STI mobile or the 7 eleven speak out phones. I fell like I'm always adding minutes that I'll never use. My current minute balance is 1000, so that means that I haven't used up the minutes from my last two 300 minute recharge cards.

I want to upgrade to unlimited net10 plan and the customer service all told me I will have to purchase a seperate net10 unlimited phone to use with the unlimited plan. 2 phones I have to buy in two months just to upgrade for unlimited service? I dont think so net10. You just lost a long time customer today. These guys at net10 are thieves… take your money elsewhere if you need unlimited minutes. Plus text messages will fail frequently but net10 will still charge you for failed delivery of texts which really eat away at your pre paid minutes. I do not recommend Net10. I have had Net10 for several years because it is cheaper than other prepaids, but as they say ‘you get what you pay for'. When trying to add minutes to my phone, the phone blanked out. It took the 143 minutes I had on it and did not add the 300 minutes I had purchased. When I called customer service, I was on the line for over 40 minutes (shows you how patient I am) and never got anyone to take care of me. I went to their website for technical support, wrote my concerns and when I checked the status they said I had to call. I called again a couple of days later, they only wanted to credit me the 300 minutes I purchased, but did not want to add on the 143 minutes I previously had. Mind you I was wasting minutes for the second time on my other prepaid phone while I was trying to get service. After 62 more minutes of being on the phone (minutes that were basically lost-they were not crediting me) they only gave me 104 minutes of the 143 and I lost another 62+44 minutes on calls for service. Is this their way of making more money? Having the phone blank out, not crediting the full minutes, plus taking more minutes from another phone if you don't have a landline phone while you make customer service calls? I am not a satisfied customer right now and I can honestly say that unless you want continuous headaches dealing with this company, I wouldn’t try it. The only thing that I have left to say is BEWARE!

I had a Net10 phone, my first cell phone, for over three years before it broke. During the time that I had it, I was mostly happy with the coverage and the plan — at least it was straightforward. I never had problems with lost minutes, service cut short, etc. My biggest drawback is the price: 10c a minute is pretty steep for a plan with so few features! Now I've switched to Consumer Cellular, which I like more, but I'd still recommend Net10.

Now it wants to lose its signal while I am in a good reception area. My son has net 10 and has no problem in the same area. I am going to buy a new phone and hope for the best!

Just checking back to this thread after discovering it recently. As mentioned below, I've used this particular Net10 Nokia phone since 2007 with no problems – never a problem adding time or with service reception (rarely does it drop a phone call).Since people are posting that they now have trouble adding time, I thought that it might be peculiar to the newer or reconditioned phones. Mine was bought brand new off the shelf at Walmart in 2007 and I've never had a problem adding time via a prepaid card from Walmart or over the Internet at the Net10 site.I just added some more minutes today – actually all I really needed was more ‘time' since I have sufficient minutes – and I did so via the website as I usually do. Chose only the $30 add-on w/300 minutes, 60 days, used my credit card, and within seconds they added the minutes and the days. In fact, they added an extra 100 minutes on as a bonus, which I wasn't expecting and actually, really didn't need. I looked over the online buy again, and it didn't say I'd get a bonus, but I did. They did offer more minutes for $5 or $10 but I didn't add that to my total. It's nice to have a 100 extra minutes, for sure, but what I really would have liked was one extra month of time! So to wrap this up, I continue to have pretty good luck with the Nokia (no camera, no ability to download ringtones) and w/Net10. Until I get some major screw ups, I'm going to stick with it.

Just got the Samsung T401 and it seems like a great deal (reconditioned with 500 total minutes included) plus free accessory kit for $41 from Net10. We had the issue with it charging us 5 cents a minute instead of 3 for texts, but when I (finally) got ahold of customer service they were able to walk me through all the codes to fix the charges. And, when I asked them to credit back the account for the overcharging, they gave us back more time than actually used, which was nice. I'd give this a rating of 5 because the phone is very nice quality, especially with the QWERTY keyboard, but it was very hard to get in touch with someone at customer service (although he confirmed at every step that charges were corrected and new minutes were added back to my phone) so I give it a 4. It's a great plan for our teenage son.

Most of the time it says Network unavailable or Emergency calls only, which is a real problem if you had an urgent call to make. The last straw for me was today when I added airtime on demand, they took my money, yet I received no minutes! I called for tech support and have been on hold for 2 hours, when they said the wait time was only 15-16 minutes, yea, right!! Look people, I am very suspicious of most of the negative reviews listed on this blog. I've been with Net 10 for four years and had very few issues at all. I think that it is entirely conceivable that most of the negative responses here are posted by company competitors. Net 10 has received high marks from professional review sources. Of course their phones are on the low end of available features, but if you insist on having super fast texting, a loud ringer, or a speaker option that is loud enough (3 deficiencies of my current phone), go with a standard plan service that has more expensive phones. Otherwise, be satisfied with clear connections for the smallest price that I've found. For all of you legitimate complainers: don't give up on Net 10… try another phone and keep it simple. Don't expect them to do much more than to correctly port a number and transfer minutes to a newer phone. If you demand top drawer service and phones, you MUST be prepared to pay the exorbitant prices that face you if you if you go with Sprint, Verizon,AT&T, ET AL. If a solid performing communication device (not some glitzy object that you hope tells the world that you've ‘arrived') is what you need or expect, then look no further than Net10. Simply stated, it offers the most bang for your buck, Period.

I started using Tracfone in 2003 (could have been 2002, I simply don't remember) and have never had a problem with them. I switched over to a Net10 Nokia phone in 2007, and again I've never had a problem with them (no camera, no web service – it's just a phone which I use infrequently but reception also is good on the small Nokia). My coverage has always been good, and in all the time I've used both Tracfone and Net 10 I think I've had maybe one or two calls ‘drop' on me. Pretty good record. I have used Tracfone in Florida and then out west for four years, and then back to Florida where I switched to Net10. Coverage has simply been great.Coming to this site I am a little disturbed to see all the complaints, especially about customer service. They used to use Miamians – now they've gone to the Philippines or India? This is NOT good news! I'm so sorry to hear that. They need to get it back to Florida.I'm also sorry to hear that some people have trouble loading minutes. I wonder if it has to do with poorly made phones they offer now? I've not had a problem – crossing fingers here – with loading minutes whether online or via a card from Walmart. The only issue I've had at all with my Nokia Net 10 is the fact that they seem to still be ripping us off a bit with how they calibrate a ‘minute.' They got sued, I believe, for calibrating a minute (and thus deducting it from your accrued minutes) at the very start of a conversation. I was looking at my minute deduction yesterday and this seems to be happening again. In other words, in calls less than a minute, it seems to be sucking out a minute no matter what your accrued minutes load total is.I don't use my Nokia every day, but all in all I have been very happy w/both Tracfone and Net 10. I was considering upgrading to a better phone, but with all these complaints I'll just stick with what I have, and keep a close watch on any issues that may come up. There's a lot of competition out there now for pay as you go phones. You would think Net 10 would be paying attention to complaints. Because with pay as you go, once you lose a customer, I seriously doubt they will ever try the company again. They need to be reading this board.

I have had Net10 for about a year now. I've been through 3 phones. The first one was an LG400 and I ended up accidentally throwing it in the washer. It still worked after drying out for a day after being in the soak cycle for 5 minutes. Unfortunately, I had by that time already bought a new phone. A Samsung T201. Again, I ended up breaking the phone because of my own stupidity. It had nothing to do with Net 10 or the manufacturer of the phone. I ended up upgrading to the much nicer Samsung T401. I was also able to transfer any minutes I had left on my old Samsung, plus the 300 free minutes that came with the new one and that was taken care of with a 6 minute call to Net 10 customer service. They also transferred my number so I wouldn't have to get a new one. Anyway, on to this phone. The camera on this phone is decent, not great. I've gotten some pretty good pictures with it. The video camera comes out pretty pixelated, so it's not of much use to me. I haven't used or tried the music player. The only other features I really use is the picture messaging and the alarm. Never had a problem with either. The Qwerty keyboard sure is nice! On my other phones I had to sit there for several minutes pressing ‘4433555555666' just to type ‘hello'! Now with the keyboard, texting is so much faster and easier. Only thing is, if you have large hands/fingers, this may affect you as the keys are quite small. Suits me just fine, I have small hands. The other thing with this phone (Samsung T401) is that you have to call (as one other reviewer pointed out & thanks!) the support center in FL and they give you about 5 codes to type in so that it gets your text messaging down to 3 cents instead of 5. I *just* called them and they had that problem fixed in about 5 minutes. Make sure you call from a landline or another persons cell. Also, I bought my newer Samsung for about $86 (including tax), but you can find them online for about 20 less than that, which in my opinion, is quite a steal.

But as of the last year, I've had problems every month with my minutes. I always have to troubleshoot online or over the phone to get my minutes added to my phone. This past weekend, I purchased a $20 net10 card (I had already used $15 worth the week before that I'd purchased with a credit card) at Wal-Mart and the minutes have not shown up on my phone. I've spent 5 hours on the phone with customer service and have been dropped every time (3 times) I've asked to speak with a supervisor. I've been told the minutes have already been activated, therefore, there is nothing they can do. They have stolen $20 from me and are refusing to work with me in order to get me my time. It is such a shame. I used to never have problems with them. Now I'm just being bounced around from person to person. I highly discourage anyone from using Net10 or TracFone (they are part of the same company)

I just had the worst experience with NET10:I received a prepaid phone but never got it activated due to their mistakes. It took 8 days to make the transfer/port. The transfer was made incorrectly. They needed to send a new SIM card. Did send the card to an incorrect address. It's been 18 days and still waiting for the phone to get activated!

To the person looking for the EM326G review: I actually know quite a bit about their different telephones, and can tell you a bit about that one.The first thing to notice about it is that it is cheap, and has every single feature you would want from even a $60 phone: 2 games, airplane mode, fairly decent alarm, you name it. Also, the internet browsing is absent, so the phone doesn't eat up your minutes when you inadvertently turn on the browser: since Net10 only allows you to go to their website anyways, and the browser is therefore fairly useless in other phones. However, there are also a few immediate cons. First, when you call someone, the phone is really quiet: and if you want it louder, you have to wait until the other person picks it up, then click ‘Menu', ‘Options', ‘Speaker options', ‘Turn speaker on', and wait for the ‘Speaker being turned on' message to fade. Takes about 5 seconds, if you are successful the first time. If not, you accidentally place the call on hold, takes about 12 more seconds to return. In other words, it eats your minutes up just like that. Another reason you might want the speaker feature is because its radiation emission level is almost 2.5 times the normal cell phone level: barely inside the maximum level allowed by federal regulations. The next thing you notice it is that its charger is not standard. So if you need to charge it somewhere and do not have your charger with you, good luck finding a one that fits.On the other hand, I lambasted its description with the first impressions: it has a few good features that come into your notice eventually. First of all, it automatically blocks the keypad after 60 seconds (if you are on the main screen), so you shouldn't call someone on accident. Second, its idle time is really long (like 10 days), so if you don't have your charger, you can prolong the life until you come back. Another not-so-noticed feature is that the internet browsing Finally, a few last impressions: first, the maximum ringtone volume is really low: I miss calls all the time unless it's fairly quiet around me. Second, you can click a menu number instead of having to scroll there: a pretty useful feature. Finally, the middle button (‘OK') is missing: so you have to use only the left/right soft keys.

I've had Net10 for 5 years, with two phones – an LG100 that fell apart after a few months and a Motorola that lasted over 4 years with no problems. Customer service (through the website – never called them) was actually speedy and effective. And for my needs, extremely cheap – I rarely pay more than $15/month (one 300 minute card every 60 days).

I have been a ST customer since last October but to save a few dollars at my current phone needs I am transferring my ST number to Net 10. Although I am not doing the transfer today I called Net 10 CS to inquire about my Net 10 phone and the logistics for transferring the ST number. The CS lady I talked to today was extremely knowledgeable on all my questions and her English was as good as mine. The same excellent experience I have had with ST CS all these months. For all those that bad talk ST or Net 10 CS I have no answer why your experience is so different than mine. Maybe yours aren’t true.

Excellent Net 10 CS experience

Net10/Tracfone sucks. Pure and simple. I owned a Tracfone for several months and kept getting collection calls for Maria. Worst of all, the Caller ID read ‘Mal Darvin' whenever I called anyone.I contacted Tracfone and after waiting an hour for someone to take the call I was informed that the problem wasn't with Tracfone but the Caller ID of the people receiving the calls!I let the plan expire and went out and bought a Net10 phone, not realizing it was the SAME COMPANY as Tracfone.I went to activate the phone on-line and they gave me an area code out of town. I called to get the number changed. Three hours on the phone with them over three days and they never could make the phone ring with the new number! So I took it back and got a full refund from the store.NEVER AGAIN WILL I DO BUSINESS WITH TRACFONE OR NET10. NEVER!
