To Stinkbomber – Dialing *228 and pressing 2 does not screw up your service? I'd try it but I do not want to mess things up and wait with CS for 3 hours. The service works great and they say if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I rated this high because of the plan. For $30 its 1000 minutes and 1000txt along with data… Not Bad for VERIZON BACKED SERVICES!!!! This is probaly the best prepaid phone you can get. Its $45 for unlimited everything. If you want a prepaid phone go into a walmart and get a STRAIGHT TALK phone. VERIZON PROVIDES THEIR SERVICE and it works anywhere a verizon phone does. TO UPDATE ROAMING CAPABILITIES FOR STRAIGHT TALK AND VERIZON PHONES CALL *228 and press 2. Do this every month and it will save you on roaming charges!!!

pezzz -Your browser has to be fixed or if not then the phone should be replaced. I's not sure yet if you can receive international calls/SMS with ST, but I'm sure ST does not support calls/SMS to International number. Angela -What specific phone model do you have? a-OK -I'm glad your phone worked right away. HONIGAL -It could be the phone itself that's not working. Message to KM -You're right about that. km -You've got your answer already. Detailer -You need to call Customer Service and describe the situation with them. They will look into your location to see how your network coverage in the area is working. James -I'm happy you made a smart choice. And about the ring tone, you will need to download them only from Straighttalk.com. SJB -‘Prepaid wireless is awesome!' Brent -If you have any problem with the CS, you can call 18008765753. pbailey -ST customer service really has got to improve. Message to E.C -ST does not have roll-over of minutes, but since the system is still new, minutes rolled-over. But I think it doesn't happen anymore. Message to E.C -The monthly auto-refill is done every 30 days, so it's not always on the same date every month. Thanks! e.c -There is no exact call or text messaging rates with ST. It’s simple; it is $30 for 30 days of 1000 minutes, 1000 text messages and 30 MB of WEB browsing; or $45 for unlimited minutes, text messages and WEB browsing.

Ryan -I definitely agree with you, and since the rep wasn't able to fix your problem you can ask to speak to a supervisor. Jasper -Since there other phones in your household this could be the reason why you have two phones listed in your account online. When you call customer service make sure you are speaking to representative in the Technical Department, they'll know what to do. -ST Representatives work in a Call Center; supervisors are around and should be there when you ask to speak to them. Matt -Before getting the R810C, check out the features included on the phone first. You use this link if you want http://tracfone.deviceanywhere.com/straighttalk/home.seam?deviceId=664. Matt -When you've just got the phone activated, you will really need to dial *22890 (*228 if you have the Motorazr V3a). This will let the network program the phone number to your phone. After a test call should be made. Katie -If you are not using the phone for business purposes, then a new phone number will be better. Otherwise here are some tips if you need to port your number: Make sure the phone number is still active with you current service provider. Have your account number from your current service provider, if you have a password with them make sure you also know remember it. When you have these informations, the transfer will be easy. (You can call your current service provider to get your account number and password). Thanks. Guest49 -There are transfers that are completed in just a few minutes. However, if there are delays depending on your current service provider; it could take a few hours, a couple of days, but the maximum is up to seven days. Candace -Call customer service for a replacement phone. If you got it from Walmart and it's been less than 30 days since you bought it, you can get it replaced with them for faster service. Austiniter -ST does not have customer service representatives from India. But I agree when you say you can save more when you purchase your service plan at Walmart.

Terri -You can call *22890 or *228 and select option 2. But if that doesn't work, call CS at 1-877-430-2355. Me -Dialing *228 will not screw up your service it is done to ‘TO UPDATE ROAMING CAPABILITIES FOR STRAIGHT TALK AND VERIZON PHONES' as what Stinkbomber said, but remember ST(straight Talk) does not apply roaming charges. Stinkbomber -Thanks for the review! Renee -The shipping was fast probably because it was purchased at Walmart.com, not at Straighttalk.com. jerry -Your review is greatly appreciated. Have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year! jibril -ST doesn’t have 24/7 CS as of the moment, and I've never heard of any plans of having it yet, but I really hope they would. Thanks! Russ -Porting numbers will also depend on your old service provider, so since you have Verizon and ST uses Verizon network, the transfer was easy. Me -You're right about the R451C, but I'll check the site you mentioned. Christi -I hope you'll enjoy the service. boubacar -I'm glad you happy with your ST phone. brandon _If you want nationwide coverage thru Verizon at an extremely low cost then I recommend it! kim -Not sure what happened when you activated your phone, but I hope ST customer service would really improve. Don -There's something wrong with the phone's programming with the network and has to get fixed. You better call CS so they can look it up and fix it for you. moe -Good thing you said that. Tonya -Walmart can get you a refund for the phone but not for the Service card/plan you bought for it. But here are some tips: You can ask customer service to turn off the message you get before every call you make. Voicemail-call *86 and if you're asked for a pass code, the default will be the last 4 digits of your phone number. MMS/Picture messaging- This feature is related to browsing on the WEB and downloading ring tones online. The browser is the main one, if it doesn't work then the other 2 will not work as well. Ring tone downloads- You should also ask for a refund for these ring tones if the payment went through. **If you get any problems at all. Call customer service and if somehow you cannot understand them you can ask to speak to another rep. If a rep would tell you that they need to put you on hold, ask them why. There should valid reasons for placing customers on hold, so that you would know what real problem is during the call.

I have the Samsung 451 and love the plan, but the only problem I have is with incoming calls. When someone calls, about 30 seconds into the conversation, the call will be dropped. CS says that my phone is working fine after they did a diagnostic test with it. Anyone have any ideas what can be done to correct this?

I don't know what the problems are. We have two ST phones, possibly getting a third and fourth phone. Way better than our VW family plan! Cheaper, more flexible and more minutes on each phone. Both phones were activated within an hour of buying at the store and registering it on the website. Easy as 1,2,3, (w/o the number porting since we give out our google number instead and update the new number on the google website) and never had to talk to customer service. Very good wireless service, easy, excellent reception, prepaid, no hassles, no pushy sales reps.

Love the phone and service. I got the flip phone, cheap me, and activated it through C/S with no problems and later I fooled around with the phone and locked myself out. Called from another phone and within 3 minutes they had me all set to go again. Boys must play with new toys they say. I have T-Mobile also and at 1st they were good but now I can't even get a signal half of the time especially in my apartment. Still under a 2 year contract with them then it is goodbye. I bought the straighttalk phone and love it. I drive OTR a lot and so far no problems anywhere. Love the phone, the C/S service, they are friendly and knowledgeable. As I traveled I would check my signal strength against T-mobiles and I always had a signal with straighttalk and not too pleased with T-mobiles signal strength. It would usually fade in and out when in the country but not with Straighttalk. Buy it, you will not be disappointed. Merry Christmas to all and to all A Blessed New Year.

I've got 2 ST phones I've been using the past 3-4 months. For those of you who dont want to talk to Customer Service in India, call their US Headquarters Office at 800-876-5753. I did so whenever I had issues and they've always fixed the situation. The network is Verizon Wireless which ST works on. Coverage and clarity is great, unlimited talk-tex-web now for $45.00 a month. Go to Walmart and buy the pre-paid card for $45.00 plus sales tax, as if you purchase the card online you pay not only sales-tax but a multitude of regulatory fees/surcharges which add up to around $10-12.00. So go to Wal-mart and purchase each month and save.

The phone is fine, reception great, love the price. Ported our numbers – no problem. Took a day or so for my husbands and less than an hour for mine. Customer service is absolutely ridiculous! I was going to refill my phone online, but there were 2 phones listed in my account (I've had the service 2 months and have only had 1 phone). I didn't know which one to refill so I called to have them do it. CS helped me sign up for auto-refill – Yep, my phone ran out of service. He filled the wrong one AND I GAVE HIM MY PHONE MEID #. Spent hours trying to straighten that out then checked my balance and found they had charged me twice! More time on hold with CS! Then I refilled my sons card online and – his service ran out anyway. Spent over 2 hours on hold with CS who said it might be 24 – 48 hours! We spoke to 4 different people to finally straighten it out. He was without service for 28 hours but it still counts against his 30 days. Many reps are difficult to understand and they don't understand you that well either – which is a problem, they put you on hold repeatedly for long periods of time saying they are ‘updating their system'. One rep Ramona, put me on hold for 10 minutes and I had to hang up, call again and start over with the next one. HORRIBLE! My son asked to speak to a supervisor and she gave several excuses to why he couldn't, then finally said they were all in a meeting. I think the cs reps are working out of their homes and have to email or call someone each time to instruct them on how to help us. That's why you have to wait so long. Maddening. My husband has had no problems, my son and I have.

Purchased the LG slider phone about two weeks ago. The minutes are great, but everything else isn't. To start with I dislike the message before making a call. I get static at times on clear day in my local area,I can't receive or send picture messages, cannot set up my voice mail; every time I call to check to my messages I call my own phone and leave myself a message. Next, I purchased two ringtones for 2.99 each and I tried to download them to my phone but I was unable to get them to my phone. So I called customer service and told them my issue; I couldn't understand a word he was saying except'let me put you on hold until I can find you a solution'. The foreigner did me like this for about 30 minutes until I got so frustrated I just hung up the phone. This is the worst prepaid phone service I have ever experienced. Does any know if I can get a refund if I just take the phone back to Wal Mart?

First month was just fine.It has gone downhill since then. I went to put more minutes on my phone online and it would not accept my credit card. Tried to call CS 2 hours later still could not put minutes on my phone. There was no problem with my credit card. CS told me to buy a card and use that. Did so the next day. Guess what spend 3 hours on the phone before they were finally able to get the prepay card to work and add the minutes to my phone. They said there should be a problem next month as long as I do it before my current plan expires. We will see. But this is not the end of it. Next day I spend another 2 hours on the phone with CS again to figure out why my browser wouldn't work. They finally said it was fixed and it would be up in 24 hours. 24 hours later I was on the phone again for another hour only to be told it needed to be updated and would be working the next day. Ok next morning I get up only to find I have no service at all! Spend another 2 hours on the phone with CS to get that fixed with no answer as to why it happened to begin with and my browser is still not working. I love the price and the unlimited minutes but am seriously thinking about going back to my old phone pre paid plan cause saving money isn't worth this hassle

I do not know who “Randi” was working with, but I had no problems porting my new straight talk phone on 12/20/09. Between the directions on the web and the help from customer service the process was painless and it took about 20 minutes to set up both phones. I ported a number from Verizon a couple of months ago and I just bought another cell phone and I ported that old number to the new phone, so the number has been ported more than once. This means you can bring your cell phone number with you and transfer that number between Straight Talk Phones if you need a new phone.

I have two ST phones and I am very happy. If you want a smart phone, then get a smart phone. If you want a phone for making calls on the Verizon network and that you can check your e-mail, weather, cnn.com, facebook from time-to-time, this phone is perfect. A lot of people complain about the balance being played to you everytime you make a call. I called customer service, and they turned that off quickly. Bottom line- awesome price for Verizon network. The Samsung R451C has been great for what it is. And if you really want ringtones, don't buy them from straightalk, just take an mp3 file and cut it down at http://makeownringtone.com/ for free. Then use bluetooth from a computer to your phone to upload it.

I bought my first phone in a region that was about 1 hour away from my home and when I talked on the phone it wasn't crystal clear, it was kind of either static or like there was a shadow behind the speaking, I don't really know how to describe it. I thought maybe it was doing that because I was out of my region, so I bought the same phone in my region and still having the same problem. We had difficulty porting my number. My Sprint number was immediately turned off when we activated the service. It was over 24 hours later, the minutes still didn't shown up on the ST phone. We called customer service and they had to do something to activate the phone. Then it worked fine. I've got the slider phone. I don't like the fn, shift, etc. keys, either. It's irritating and I can't get it to work consistently. I have one email that I have to be able to access and something about the way the phone enters information into the password makes it not accept my password. I've tried multiple ways to get it to work. My password is all lower case. Has anyone else had this problem? If you have, and you were able to solve it, could you email me at afoley36To gmail.com. I had a TREO Palm 800W and it didn't work any better than this ST phone and I paid 500 for the phone and 140 a month for the service to Sprint. This phone, once I figure out how to put in all lowercase passwords, does exactly all I need it to do.

I did transfer an existing number and had problems with web browsing, it was resolved in a couple days. I have upgraded phones, transfer only took a minute and my new phone was working and browsing. I will say I like the Motorola phones and accessories better than the Samsung. This last upgrade was to the Samsung. I am having trouble finding a car charger and USB cable. This was not an issue with Motorola. Again, this is the phone though and not the service. I have very few dropped calls and the service is better than Sprint and reception better. I feel once they grow their customer service will improve. As far as growth, Wally world can not keep the phones in stock.

This phone is working great so far! It was activated instantly, and the customer service, while having a bad reputation, helped me through the activation process (the automated system for some reason, redirected me to customer service for no reason). The phone is great, texting and calling is just as expected, and it is affordable. My one gripe is that it tells me (in creepy computer lady voice) how many minutes I have before each call. I cannot figure out how to remove this…. I would rather have an option for text on the screen. The one gripe aside, this has proven to be a great phone.

I still can't use the browser (read this is a problem for a lot of people who port their nos.)but it has been about 5 days since I had the service. The one and ONLY thing I do NOT like is how EVERYTIME you make a call, a recorded message comes on saying how much time you have left for ‘this' call. Ridiculous! Am I going to use it to make a 10 hour call? This has to be stopped. Maybe it's the price we pay for having the Verizon network and not paying the verizon price. I will kindly stick up for the customer service reps who are just doing what they are told to do! So far, everyone I have had to speak with was friendly and understandable. This is a pretty new venture and the bugs still have to be worked out. The price cannot be beat! Thank you ST, TF and WM. p.s. hopefully my web browser will work eventually. I switched from $print to Straight Talk last week and have been completely impressed. I bought the cheapo LG100C (US$ 29.95) with the $30 plan and ported my number. In less than 24 hours my line was connected. Very impressed. I can buy a nicer phone anytime as they offer 8 models. Try that with $print and it'll cost a fortune as they tie you down for 2 years with an upgrade. For 4+years I had a lousy $print signal at home, joking that if I had a heart attack I'd have to go to the other room to call for help… Straight Talk utilizes Verizon in my area, a strong signal. Other $print disappointments such as they wouldn't honor my Berkshire Hathaway Employee discount when I switched to 200 min basic plan, wanted extra for nights to start at 7pm. Did I mention they renewed a 2 year contact? I decided to pay the $140 cancelation charge. I took the plunge, not really knowing what Straight Talk would be like but felt it couldn't be worse than $print. I can honestly sing the praises of Straight Talk now. For $33 (tax & fee incl) Internet is included with Straight Talk and when I checked my balance the first day they doubled the minutes and internet! Yesterday I signed on for ‘Auto Refill' every 30 days (can use a credit or debit card) and after 12 consecutive billings they'll give a free month of service… do the math. The only unhappy moment was calling Straight Talk Tech Support which had a long wait on hold and when I got a live person she drug out the call by apologizing and thanking repeatedly. It bothers me not that this is a Walmart marketed product either. I am a child of the ‘Walmart generation', raised by parents who didn't have alot of money. Straight Talk is another amazing value.

And anyone who is worried about poor reception you can buy a phone for $30. That's affordable! If you like it you can then port your current phone when you pay for your renewal. Straight Talk is going to crush it's competitors eventually. I always knew the big wireless companies overcharged and Straight Talk shows you it can be affordable. Nothing is perfect though and if you don't have the money or the credit rating to buy whatever you want don't be critical of ST, who provides a very affordable option for you.

I've had this phone for 2 months. My second month I was enrolled in $30 plan and because I now have 41 minutes left for the next week (!!!!!) I rang CS to change to unlimited. She gave me the option of adding a $30 card now or just putting me on unlimited now with a new 30 day date. I chose unlimited now, doesn't matter that I lost 41 minutes. From dialing to saying bye, it was about a 8 minute call which was excellent. We even talked about how it was snowing outside my window. The accent was a little thick but I could understand her. I've checked my balance online and it now says Unlimited bucket. ST is a fantastic service, and their CS is really not that bad – obviously some people only like to hear American accents – I'm not bothered either way.

Is anyone from Straight Talk listening? Is anyone addressing Str. Talk’;s major problem? WHAT IS BEING DONE TO CORRECT THE NIGHTMARE? At this point, customers have the RIGHT to know.

HORRIBLE! UNBELIEVABLE! DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE FOR ANYTHING!! I started this service on December 10th, when I was able to successfully port my previous Sprint cell phone number to my new Straight Talk phone. The phone broke within 3 days. That's not a problem. Cell phones break all the time, right? I replaced the phone no problem. HERE IS THE BAD PART: When I tried to re-port my previous phone number, the one that had been on the previous Straight Talk phone 12 hours before, I was told that THEY ARE UNABLE TO PORT THE NUMBER AGAIN. So, basically, they can port your number ONLY ONCE! As soon as your phone breaks or you try to replace it, you WILL NOT be able to keep your existing phone number. Period. 3 Supervisors in Bangalore were positive that they are not able to do it. All they said was ‘your number is lost'. This, despite having 20 days on the original calling card, AND having signed up for auto-rebill. So my account was fully paid for and active. They are just simply unable to transfer the same number from one of their Straight Talk phones to a 2nd phone. IF YOU HAVE A NUMBER YOU WANT TO KEEP – DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!!!! Luckily, since the whole thing happened within a 12 hour period, I was able to call Sprint back and my previous number had not yet been re-assigned. Sure, I had to sign another 2 year contract but at that point I was happy to do it. BE WARNED! BE WARNED!!!

I live in Indiana and in an area surrounded by trees and in the valley, so with all carriers I have tried, if I was lucky I might get one signal bar inside an old mobile home, then have to take the phone outside to talk. But with ST, this is the best signal phone I have ever had. I have 2-3 bars inside my home and talk on the phone from the sofa in my livingroom. I have the Samsung R451C. I decided if the browser wasn't going to work then it was going back in within 30 days. I had the LG VU from ATT and I was paying 85 dollars without internet (what a f'in rip off). When I got home I decided not to keep my old number because my brother recently just got the Samsung slider phone and had to wait up to 10 days to port his number and his browser didn't even work. With the new number my phone was activated honestly within 5 MINS!!!! UNREAL! The only problem I have with the Samsung Finesse is that it doesn't show contacts name when people call just phone number… when some one calls me it shows the number, even when I have that number saved as a contact in my phone. It will just show the number and no name… However, when I call someone or look at recent calls I made it shows the name and not the number. please help. I just got this phone if you could help me out that would be great! I highly recommand straight talk if you don't want to pay the dumb price of other carriers. I LOVE the Straight Talk Service. Price can't be beat. My dealings with customer service have been just fine. HOWEVER… the R451C SUCKS for texting. It has an ‘fn' key which is like a ‘caps lock' so if you want the number ‘2' you have to press ‘fn' key then ‘2' key then ‘fn' key again to shut off function. But it automatically shuts itself off if you type a punctuation mark. So when you have to know when to hit it twice and when to hit it once. HORRIBLE!!! It's easier and less button pushing to write ‘I went to work at two' than ‘ I went 2 work To 2'

i transferred my number from virgin mobile to straight talk about a month and a half ago… and i have had problems the entire time. first it was that i couldn't receive text messages from a few select ppl and they told me a couple times that if i can send myself a text it is working fine. I finally talked to someone who was willing to help me and his computer crashed halfway through. the next guy i talked to looked into it and told me there was a issue with my phone number and that i would have to wait until my 30 days of service was up and change my phone number. so… i called them back and they told me that it would be no problem to change my number and the lady i talked to kept me on the phoen for 45 minutes and told me that i would have to wait for the ‘perfect time' for my phone to start working with the new number again. she charged me early for this transaction and my phone didn't work all day that day and the next morning it started to work but i still had my old phone number. so, i call them back (which you can't call them on your actual phone and if you do they tell you to call back when you can call them on another phone) the guy tells me that there is no history of them charging my account for another 30 days of service and gets me all set up with another number and i think i am ready to go he tells me that if my phone stops working in an hour or so to call them back… i get a call about a half hour later from a number i don't know and i answer it… this guy insists that i am pranking him and that the number is his girlfriends and that she has had it for 2 years now. THEY GAVE ME A NUMBER THAT ALREADY BELONGED TO SOMEONE ELSE! by the time i realize this they are closed for the night and there is no one to help me :| so, i am going to cancel my service and go somewhere else.

I ordered the 1000-minute package almost a mouth ago. The phone service is alright, and the mobile web it also okay. But beware of it's refill! I kept getting refill reminders from the company, and the Walmart close to my home ran out of the refill cards, so tonight, I went to Straight-Talk website to refill my account, although my service would expire on 12/19 (it's 12/16 today), and I still had several hours left. I thought my new service period would start from 12/20 (or 12/19), but I was told that the next expiration date for my service will be 1/15! So, I've lost 4-day worth service! This is a ripoff! So, be careful when to refill. Then, there is another catch: the refill would take effect in up to 4 hours!

I purchased 2 phones this past weekend. Both are Samsung phones purchased at Walmart with the full slide keypad. 1 has the number provided by the company. The other I ported my old number from Nextel. The phone that had the number assigned by Straight Talk had no problems. Everything worked fine, including the mobile web, and the coverage was much better than I had with Nextel. The phone I ported my number to had service issues. It took 10 hours for the number to port. I had to wait about three more hours before the new phone stated I had anough minutes on it to use it. During that time my nextel phone was no longer in service. Once that time was up all the services worked fine except the browser. I got an error message for the internet. It took two calls to Straight Talk over a 24 hour period to before I was able to check the web from my ported phone. Now it works fine also. From reading the other comments and my experience this weekend, it appears the ported numbers have more of an issue. The rep stated that there was a disconnect between my ported number, the serial number on the phone and the towers. They ran me through the checks on the phone and determined the phone was in working order. The problem was corrected in the time quoted. As with any new service I do expect growing pains. However, I am glad my wife got the phone that worked correctly from the start. That would have been bad the other way around.

I was quite nervous about porting my existing phone # because ready through all these reviews it didn't seem like people were having much success but I thought even if it takes 7 days it would be worth using my old #. Well, It took only 15 minutes for it to port over and worked like a charm.. maybe I am just lucky? The customer service answered right away with not much wait time and yes it was harder to understand her since she had a strong accent but she answered my questions and was nice. Phone and text for $30 a month, can't go wrong. Porting my number took 14 hours. Not bad considering I lived without a cell phone for 17 years of my life. I've also been unable to access the web from the phone which from what I read, is happening to alot of people porting their numbers. I don't really care though. Won't use it anyways. Bought a ST phone and $30 service card , activated the foolish thing supposedly on the meager website, spent 4 hours talking to someone who was either a Martian or from some other distant planet accomplishing nothing, have the ‘not enough money' message when I try to call out…It's evidently not the service itself or the phone in most cases it's ST's horrendous customer accounting. What I did was opt in for the automatic debit and at the same time added the $30 card. I know for a fact that the card number I gave does NOT have enough in it's account to allow them to double charge me (service card + debit) so it hung up their system. Now really, what does this tell you? It indicates to me that there is an internal conflict between their system wanting to charge me another 30-days of service when I already supplied a $30 1-month plan card. Now that bites. So, for the time being I am in limbo, phoneless, and much more gray than i was before I made the mistake of dallying with this horrible company. If anybody here has a better explanation of why the phone won't activate and squawks ‘not enough money' please tell me. It's a ‘flaw' (to their distinct advantage) in their customer account system, it has to be. And THAT is enough to make me cancel my debit card for fear of fraud.

StraighTalk now has a smart phone!!! I'm excited about the new Finesse StraighTalk smart phone for several reasons. First, it's cheaper than an iPhone and comparable to other smart phones. Second, it will be running on the Verizon network, ranked tops by Consumer Reports Magazine, which sublets service to StraighTalk. Third, this is the first smart phone available to consumers on a pay as you go basis… meaning no contracts, no hassles and no gouging!!! My take is that the big evil cell phone providers may just find some religion this Christmas 2009 due to StraighTalk's bold move into their turf. I can only expect to see better, faster and cheaper cell phones going pre-paid in the future. It certainly doesn't make much sense to plunk down $150 a month, give or take, for a smart phone, when you can get just about the same service, including unlimited text, talk and data for $45. The number 1 on everyone's 2010 New Year's Resolution is to take a very serious look at their phone bills and consider the StraighTalk Finesse.
