I bought my phone after researching hard and this is the best overall plan if you need a emergency phone and can spend for a $100 airtime card plus the to go package . Though cheap it wasnt a easy deceision as I am disabled on Social Security Disabillity ( no i am not destitute like so many who I feel for and write this caring about ) I just needed this becuase I am so sick I feel unsafe without one with me 365 days a year when going to the Doctor or alone in bed incase I cant get up to far from our land line . Problem is the phones are all refurbished on the prepaid and if they break you get very poor customer service help mine arrived with problems and I call right away but they ran me in circles and kept telling me it was ok when I should of returned it right away . It wouldnt take a charge ..then did , then didnt . I just wanted to mail it to anywhere . I think Nokia would of done it . I for warranty work or a return its now 60 days old and dead with all my people calling and they just think I have it off or am out of service . I cant go out right now but with a aide or help and its nearly impossible then as I am mentaly confused in pain . I have no family to help . Really needed this it is a emergency phone now with a number all my Doctors have . Anyway you absolutely cannot get warranty help not even at their stores for sure not at the independant dealers . Its sad becuase this is the phone used by 99% of those disabled out there but they wont help them . I will buy a new phone its easier then argueing or crying for them to take it for warranty work by mail like they sent it to me . I will have it sent in the mail like the first one but its hard on 500 a month SSD to buy a phone when you have one and its supposed to be warrantied . I wish they would of just said no the first instead of keeping me on hold forever then trying to sell me plans . I spent 3 hours on the phone and they just passed me around like a joke it seemed with me explaining my situation in tears unable to talk that long hoping they would actually recognize I was for real and couldnt get this serviced other then by mail . They literly ran me around for 3 hours after being told I had a head injury with severe pain and couldnt hold a phone up and this was for medical emergencies . Would I buy one again ..yes I have no choice until I am broke . Do I trust these phones to work NO and if its delivered by mail the warranty should be able to be handled by mail at least for the disabled that cant go around like they would like . I hope they read this and do something . Many elderly and disabled people rely on these for saftey and its sad they cant do warranty work through the mail for those who really cant go to a store when they sell them in the mail over the internet . Its bad enough to wait the extra time and being disabled all this technology is hard to comprehend its just that you need a way to call 911 if you collapse in public becuase the world is so bad nowadays John Q public wont just run you around but might rob and kill you out there . Corperate America at least just steals your money . This phone is a good alternative and if it works and money is not tight buy it for a friend thats disabled give them a cheap model for 39 bucks dont buy a expensive phone its not worth it and try it when you know its ok then buy the 100 card not before . They usually run a 39 dollar deal with a free 25 dollar card thats what I will do again since I cant get my warranty work done due to being terminal unable to go into a t-mobile owned store ..most of them are a long ways away ( my case only 20 miles each way ) But they wont take them at the dealers only the T mobile owned store and they dont even want to honor it they even tell you just buy another phone . Prepaid buy the cheap one not a razr or stripe they wont back it . I had the Nokia 6103 . Prepaid appears to get the factory seconds they want to just dump . Mine was obviously poor quality when i got it but when your so sick you cant even get food on your own , buying this just for emergencies what can you do ? Eat teh 65 dollars and buy the cheaper phone and go on . They wont even let me give this phone to another disabled person who can bring it in they required i come into the store as the original owner even after explaining my situation to them . I imagine you all think i am nuts or this is sour grapes . Its the truth ,its sad , and its a poor reflection on customer service and our counrty nobody helps anyone anymore .

It's a real burden on your wallet after a while; somehow im always losing minutes from rounding up calls and once you get down to the last ten minutes, it says your balance is to low to complete the call. Honestly I feel like I was cheated out of a lot of money. NOT the best service for your phone or wallet..

I have had att, cingular, and t-mobile. The others ripped me on price. I buy 100 bucks at a time, and it costs me 10 cents a minute. No bills, it seems to last me months and months. If I use it alot, I know I will recharge, if not, I have a year of time. Works for me.

I've had T-Mobile Prepaid for about 3 years and am very pleased with both the service and my phone. Aside from having to replace it when I accidently washed it, my Seamens phone has been excellent. I'm cheap, so I really like prepay because “I” get to decide what I spend for cellular service, not them. I'm in the market for a new phone now. I've checked a lot of the others and am going to get a new phone with T-Mobile again. All in all, I'm very satisfied!

Absolutely outstanding plan for folks like me that use 100 minutes a month. We have four SIM chips, four unlocked phones, and I usually put #100 on one of them every six months or so. Four phones for $200 a year? Can't beat it. CUstomer service is great to help you set up a phone (I bought some on Amazon/ebay). Coverage is decent. All around great deal unless you are chatty Cathy.

I cannot beleive, i waited this long to get one. I got one for my wife, who truly rarely calls at all. It was a great buy, she can call internlly, without having to worry about billing or purchasing international cards. The money saved is incredible. I highly recommend this to anyone, who rarely talks on the phone, or even if you do, you buy minutes as you need them, without the hassles or headaches of a contract. Best deal on the planet!!

I'm looking for a cell phone provider after AT&T took over Cingular (no problems with Cingular) then proceeded to ruin my life by charging me for service they never provided, sending me on wild goose chases with c/s reps sending me from one place to another and keeping me on hold. Every time I called it took at least 1-2 hours of my time to get absolutely nowhere. After it was all said & done, I was told I couldn't be refunded for the 5 mos. of service I was charged but never received, that they would only refund “one month” When I asked WHY? I was (eventually) told “that was their policy.” Oh, REALLY??? Of course I can't put them in collection for the money they owe me, but they would do it to me in a heartbeat. Anyway, sorry to go off on a tangent… the reason I'm writing is to thank everyone for their reviews, I think I will give TMobile a try. Was going to try Alltel, but there were too many negative reviews. *** ALSO *** I read several complaints about buying phone cards that had already been used, & I read something about that. I guess some people will write down the numbers by the bar code, and then use it themselves. That makes the card useless, but you won't know that until you buy it & try to use it. They were doing it with gift cards, too. So before you buy it, ask the checker to veryify that it hasn't been used.

They lose a star for patchy reception in certain spots outside the metro area (I live in Seattle). However, although customer service can be a bit confused and misleading, if you ask to speak to a supervisor you CAN get confirmation on important issues, including the most important to someone like me, who uses the cell phone VERY rarely: i.e, the fact that once you've spent $100 (for 1000 minutes) THOSE MINUTES WILL NEVER EXPIRE AS LONG AS YOU TOP UP WITH A MINIMUM OF $10 PER YEAR. I set up my phone on December 31 so that I could always remember to top up with $10 at the end of the year. Voila! Everything rolls over and I'm good for another year.

T-Mobile > Tracfone I used to have Tracfone,but they would cheat me out of my minutes,and their phones are prehistoric. Who still uses a Nokia 1100? Then I noticed e-mails from angry customers threatening to sue the company,and asking other customers to sign petitions against Tracfone. Time to switch!

I recently started using T-Mobile and am very pleased so far. I purchased a nokia 6103 with a free $25 card new from the T-Mobile site (the deal is no longer available) and a 1000 minute card off E-Bay. Total cost $154, with a $10 rebate from a buyers site, so my net cost is $143. I don't plan on using my phone more than a hundred minutes a month, so I calculate my monthly cost to be just under $12 per month, with my minutes at about 12.4 cents/minute. My advice: buy a new phone, not a used one, and don't buy the cheapest phone. Buy a 1000 card via E-Bay (currently you can easily obtain one from any of several reputable sellers for somewhere between $89-$93). I've yet to have any problems either making or receiving calls.

I have been using T-Mobile's prepaid service for about 1 1/2 years and all I can say is that it's a pretty decent prepaid service. TM's prepaid service is a lot cheaper than most prepaid plans–ESPECIALLY VERIZON'S INPULSE PLAN!!! Verizon's Inpulse prepaid plan eats the hell out of your money–even when you're NOT using the phone. I don't understand some reveiwers complaning about how expensive TM is. These reveiwers most be purchasing the $10 and $25 cards instead of purchasing the $50 card. You should always purchase the $50 or $100 card because once you've spent $250 in refills on the TM plan, you go Gold. Once you go Gold, you get 460 minutes when you purchase a $50 card and with the $100 card you get 1000 minutes that last for 1 year. How is THAT expensive? The only problem I have with TM is that their coverage is not all that great. If you're looking for a decent prepaid plan without all the “hidden fees” and daily access fees, go with TM. Just purchase a phone, minutes, activate service and you're set.

I have been extremely happy with T-Mobile prepaid service. I've used Tracfone and Verizon prepaid, and though both were decent, I feel that T-Mobile gives me the best value. For $100 (less if you buy a card at Wal-Mart) you get 1,000 minutes which are good for one year. I have had zero problems in terms of coverage. There customer service is first class: friendly, knowledgeable people who are native speakers of English! I also recently discovered, to my delight, that when you call 411 for a number, after giving you the number you can opt to get it text messaged to your phone. I also love their My T-Mobile website. You can fill out contact information for your phonebook and get it sent directly to your SIM card. As far as the phones go, not real sexy selection with the prepaid kits, but they're decent phone. The Nokia I have is a very good phone (Nokia makes very solid products). But because T-Mobile is on the GSM network (as is Cingular/AT&T), you can purchase any unlocked GSM phone, slip in your SIM card, and away you go. I just bought an unlocked Motorola RAZR and am looking forward to it coming in the mail.

I love T-mobile-To-Go. I've been a customer for over 2 years now. I researched all the prepaid plans out at that time and T-mobile had the best phones & rates. I'm not a heavy cell-phone user-probably under 100 mins a month; up to 10 text msgs–so I have not had to buy a refill in several months. As a GoldRewards customer (once you've purchased $100), the mins don't expire for a year AND they roll over . I've upgraded/switched my phone about 4 times now and all you have to do is switch the SIM card. So EASY. The few times that I've contacted customer service, they were very helpful. No problems whatsoever.

Just so there isn't any confusion, with the ToGo phone, there is no credit check. However, with the Flex Plan, which is their pay-by-month no-contract plan, they DO run your credit. I was told by customer service on the phone to go to a T Mobile store and set it up, but when I got to the store they asked for my SSN and then ran my credit. Resulting in me not getting the phone…obviously since I have prepaid to begin with. If you ARE eligable for the Flex Plan, it seems like a really great plan.

i just got t-mobile to-go like an month ago.i like the phone,but to do text messaging and pics it realy sucks. i just bought a game for my phone and it took away about 30 mins($7.50)if you send text messages or pic then this plan will problay cost you more money than a normal plan.lots of people have been saiying that $100 would last them a year but thats only about 84 mins a month. i think that i would need 2 1000mins for a year.($200)that still is about half the price of a normal plan so go with t-mobile. i only gave it 4 stars because the texting rate realy sucks.i use texting about 5 times a week or more but i gues that i am saveing money.

T-mobile has the cheapest pre-paid plan considering that they almost never drop calls and their service is always good (in st.paul minnesota). However on all the review sites i've been to, the RAZR is listed as an available phone, but on the site it's not (???). Besides the Sidekick which is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY overpriced, their selection kind of sucks. I don't know what's up with that because if they had more cool phones they would own the prepaid market.

STAY AWAY FROM VIRGIN MOBILE. Bad customer service, different stories and rules depending on who answers, untrained and unconcerned staff. Even the supervisors seem to have job security” no matter how they treat you. NOTE: They refuse to give a headquarters address. Nigeria? Russia? Secretive and unprofessional. There is nowhere to complain to that will get you anyware. Go for NetZero or Tracfone for real human beings on the other end of the line. I have 4 T-mobile prepaid accounts in my household. First – you have to do the math (duh!) to see if prepaid makes sense for your calling habits. It's very difficult to get a contract plan for less than $40/month, or a family plan for 4 for less than $80. On T-mobile prepaid, $480 per year will buy you 4800 minutes. If you need less than that prepaid makes sense, otherwise go with the contract. Text messages: each text message sent costs 10 cents, and each text message received costs 5 cents. In place of voice messages it's economical, but don't go prepaid if you use text messages in place of an actual phone conversation. Other things to consider: 1. Stay away from the kiosks. Notice how must of the compliants here involve kiosks. Deal with t-mobile directly from their web site, or use auction sites like ebay. One kiosk quoted me a price for a phone almost 3 times higher than the t-mobile web site. 2. You can easily put together what you need for a new account from ebay: a 1900 MHz GSM phone (t-mobile or unlocked), a new SIM card, and an ‘activation kit' (activation code and initial $10 minute card). I did this for my daughter for less than $50 by buying a used phone. I initially went to ebay because I didn't want her phone to be the same model as any of the other 3 in the house but in the end she got some nice features for short money. And T-mobile service was great helping me figure out what I needed even though I wasn't buying any of the equipment from them!

i, like others, use my phone very infrequently. By buying the super cheap pre-paid phone (around $29) and moving the sim card into my first T-mobile phone (which is a better quality phone), and then buying the $100 prepaid minutes, I was able to cut my phone bill in half. Very worth it if you already have a decent t-mobile phone AND you don't use your phone a lot.

i havent yet bought a cell phone from t-mobile.it would be my first cell phone and my parrens say i would have to pay for it myself.i would like to have a real plan but that are to pricy and i could never use up all those mins.ive been looking around and t-mobile looks like the best with pay as you go.i wish that they had more options like more cell phones to choose from,and higher refills. this sight has helped me out a lot and i think im going to buy a phone today.or at least go to the store and ask some questions.

We purchased To Go phones from a retailer. Activating the phones is HELL. The auto system was down for the first two tries. On the 3rd day, I was able to get through a cust serv rep but she couldn't do anything because system was still down. Why does T-mobile sell phones that customers can not activate. If they sell products that don't work then I consider that a SCAM. Don't buy T-mobile. Try other services.

I have had T-Mobile Prepaid for months. Here are my ratings… Phones: Very high quality (regardless of the RAZRs which are low quality with EVERY provider). Fast working. Customer Service: I have NEVER EVER found greater. They are so nice. Always speak English and don't even have accents. I've had to use this about every month. Low holding time. Rates: Prepaid rates are about average. I have a Sidekick II and for all the features, it's only $1 a day, not including calls. With the Sidekick II, the calling rates are somewhat high for me but I don't call much.

I was on the phone for almost 15 minutes getting my phone activated and at the final stage I get a recording telling me the service was unavailable. I tried again the next day and managed to get it activated. No big deal. A few days later I bought a refill card and made several attempts throughout the day trying to add minutes. Nothing. It beeps three times at the end of the 10-minute process and the line goes dead. I can't do it over the phone and the mytmobile website has been down for routine maintenance” since yesterday. I'm starting to have regrets. “

T-mobile is AWSOME!! You don't have to worry about those stupid activation fees. All of their phones start you off with at least $10 (30 minutes) of service when you buy them off their site. And i think the 100 dollar plan is great! Service for a whole year and 1,000 minutes!! I also hear if you pay $170 dollars you get unlimited service and don't have to worry about buying more minutes to keep your phone active. (They also have low priced monthly plans.) I had Verizon formore than 8 years. Since I was set up for no paper billing the monthly was being billed to my credit card. I didn't pay much attention till recently as to how many minutes we were using in a month. Noticed for last 12 months we used less than 200 minutes on average. So switched to T-mobile prepaid after my usual research. Thank you prepaidreviews. you are extremely helpful. So far I am very happy with T-mobile Customer service is excellent. The coverage in chicago area where I live is very good.

I just needed a basic phone for occasional use outside my home. The TM prepaid is a straight forward plan. After buying the $100 gold card I find it very easy to keep track of my minutes. In addition there is no access or roaming charge and the cost to phone someone from Los Angeles to New York, day or night is the same 10 cents per minute. And above all no hounding me for a credit card to refill my minutes every 1-3 months. Any questions I have asked from customer service was always courteous and professional. Until a better prepaid plan comes along, I think I'll stick with TM.

There are many more positive reviews here than at the Mobiledia Forums re: TMobile. And it's refreshing! I had already written off TMobile earlier today and have been reading at this site all afternoon (the only other prepaid, out of the long list of options at this site, that sounded good was the Page-Plus). But now I just may consider TMobile again (I guess it boils down to which coverage will work in my area: CDMA vs. GSM). ———————- Previously I was with Cingular month-to-month (contract expired several years ago) and had a good plan, grandfathered-in from when Cing first came to town, $29.99 ($38 w/all the taxes) for 250 day/1000 N&W, and unlimited TEXT msg. I do like the free texting for weather alerts and such, but never even use the phone minutes anymore so that's like $451 annually wasted.

I think this company rocks. I do not have the phones yet but i have sudied for quite sometime now and there are not hidden fees, credit checks, and customer care are probably the nicest people on earth. They give high quality phones at low costs. Their rates are low and very balanced, AND AFTER GETTING 100 DOLLARS WORTH OF TIME, YOU GET MORE FOR YOU MONEY, YOU GO FROM 130 MINUTES TO 150 MINUTES, AND YOU GO FROM 400 MINUTES TO 460 MINUTES. BEWARE!!!! People need to be aware that stores are selling the To Go cards and when you go to put the minutes on your card you are told the Pin has already been used. T Mobile will not do anything and the store will not do anything. T Mobile would not even give me the phone number of the phone who has my minutes. I have the reciept and card.

Look at all the facts. Some plans may start out cheaper than another, but after they nickel and dime you to death with “access” and other fees and charges, it ends up costing a lot more. This web-site provided great information as a starting point for me to conduct my own research, and for my needs T-Mobile tops them all. I started right off saving with the $100 gold card and a basic but good Nokia phone.

I got my sidekick 3 a couple of months ago. I don't really use the phone that much but I do txt allot sometimes I think I used 15 dollars worth but no its like a dollar its like they forget to charge me sometimes. Hands down this is the best pre-paid plan. I have written to T-Mobile to seriously consider issuing a $170 platinum card (2,000 minutes) which equates to an even lower savings of 8.5 cents/minute. T-mobile to go is great. $100 for 1000 minute and it last for a whole year. That comes out to 10 cent/minute. The lowest postpaid plan t-mobile have is $30 and it comes with 300 minutes a month with unlimited weekends. Let's ignore the unlimited weekends. If you get t-mobile to go, than it comes out to be the same as the $30 postpaid plan, without the unlimited weekends. But, for the postpaid plan, if you go over your minute, you get charge 40 cent per minute. So, getting prepaid is good for this part.

I've had AT&T (now Cingular) and Verizon for over 10 years. My first was a bag phone. I did forward all calls to my cell phone because I had dial-up ISP. Finally, my phone company got DSL here. For past six months I've used approx 300 min/month at $40 for 450 minutes plan from Verizon (that's about 15 cents/minute for 300 minutes). Verizon is a very good carrier with good coverage; but T-Mobile's pre-paid plan should save me $180/year minimum. It really will be more like $350 to $400 annual savings, because often I called my relatives long distance just because I had minutes to use up. I drove around my area comparing Verizon and T-Mobile coverage. It was a wash where I live; both phones lost service occasionally, but in different locations. Also, the rates while roaming in Canada and Mexico were better than my rates on Verizon last time I used it. All my comparisons are based on the 1000 min/$100 minutes. All the other negative things said sound more like some teeny-boppers (is that what they're still called) who don't have a clue how to figure amortization costs and depreciation schedules or use a little TLC when handling electronic equipment.

I buy two (2) $100 Gold Cards (2,000 minutes) & I’m all set for the whole year! As the above reviewers stated, I also want the option of upgrading my prepaid phone to a model of my choice and transferring my unused minutes on it. I would be in hog heaven if T-Mobile did that and a customer for life!! And oh yeah, T-Mobile phones are all decent phones from the least expensive on up! Sweet sweet deal indeed!

I didn’t know this plan existed, I only knew that I didn’t want to sign a contract, and didn’t want my credit card charged every 90 days. God bless my older brother who gave me a basic starter kit that included phone, all accessories and a $10 & $100 gold minutes as a birthday gift. My very first cell phone!! Customer service was very courteous and helpful and after reading the instruction booklet I was on my way! I am not a power user as after six months I still have about 700 minutes left. TM To Go is simply the best!!

I've had T-mobile prepaid since the time they were known as Voicestream… that's a long time! I've been very happy with their service and have never had a problem with any of the Nokia phones that I purchased with the service. In fact, my original phone that I got about 10 years ago still works. I've upgraded my phones since then just because I like cool new things. I'm considering filling up a couple of these old phones with $100 worth of T-mobile prepaid service each and donating them to the local domestic violence shelter. If anyone needs reliable service, it would be a domestic violence victim. T-mobile has always been as reliable as a sledgehammer. I am also a disaster-relief volunteer. I live in Tornado Alley and sometimes travel out of my area to assist in relief efforts. I have never had a problem with coverage or roaming, and on some occasions T-mobile provided us volunteers who were T-mobile prepaid or regular customers with free service while we were on a relief mission. A lot of other prepaid providers didn't do that for their customers.

This is the best plan if you’re not into sending text messages, talk less than 30 minutes a week or for emergency use only. My husband purchased this plan after I had a flat tire & had to walk to a phone booth at night…dangerous to say the least. Some weeks I don’t talk at all, saving me more rollover minutes. As the previous reviewers stated, the best bang for the buck is the $100 gold card that gives me 1,000 minutes for the entire year. Next year when I purchase another gold card (at a discount), I will also receive 15% additional minutes. No contracts, no accessing my credit card, no nickel and dimeing me to death plus great coverage, this is perfect for me!! Clearly for those who use about 350minutes or more/month this is not a good plan. But if you are using less than 200-300min/month this is a better deal. I had 4 phone with family plan 700 minutes and paid about 1116 a year. We hardly hit 350 minutes/month. We switched to prepaid plan with 4 phone, paying 100/phone for 1000/phone for a year ($400). We are using about the same minutes per month and we save $700 a year Do the math to see how much you can save before you change your plan. I am glad I did.

My advice check your minute usage, they stole an hour from me once and gave it back claiming a computer glitch on their end, they stole 24 minutes, claiming I made a 24 minute call while in church with the phone turned off! Don't listen to complaints of “I broke my phone” and “I lost my phone” because TMobile does not make phones – blame Nokia or Motorola or your own inability to protect a delicate device. The fact is no other company has a lower price and allows you to swap SIM cards with all GSM phones, including phones from Cingular. Get a prepaid SIM card from eBay for $5 or $10. Buy the $100 card and get 1000 minutes for the year. Buy a used TMobile or Cingular phone from Craigs List and you are all set. I use it, and so does my 12 year old, its the best plan, and I am not a Mobile phone dealer anymore, this is not a paid advertisement!

This is a great phone plan for those of us who are not power users, and need a phone for the occasional call. Service is great and reception very good. It beats paying $35/mo and finding ways to use those minutes, and there are no overage surprises. Those complaining about the per minute costs just don't get it.
