T-Mobile makes it easier for prepaid users

We’ve been touting Verizon a lot lately. They’ve been making headlines, and it’s all consumer-friendly news: making sure service continues through the dog days, introducing mobile money transfers, providing a quality work environment, and fighting spam, just to name a few. Heck, we just had FiOS installed, and we love it. However, they’re not the only mobile provider who is making customer-friendly headlines. T-Mobile is at it again, just a day after introducing free WiFi calling. Now they’re offering WAP-based payments for their prepaid subscribers (!!). “Handset-based refilling allows customers to add minutes to their accounts wherever they are, whenever they want,” said Vesta’s CEO, Doug Fieldhouse. “With our mobile payment capability, purchasing minutes for a prepaid phone has never been easier.” We couldn’t have put it better ourselves, Mr. Fieldhouse (which is why we chose to quote you). It makes complete sense. If you’re going to have this WAP technology available, why not use it for as much good as possible? So now you can refill with no cards, no PIN, no number to call — just the good old series of tubes. Ah ha, but there’s always a catch. In order to take advantage of this, you 1) need a WAP-enabled phone and 2) need to subscribe to the WAP service.
