Wind Mobile now up and running
PrepaidReviews.ca, we touched on the Canadian spectrum auction, held in 2008. It was quite a saga, with various rules to govern different parts of the auction, including the block reserved for newcomers. Late last year we learned that one of the big spectrum winners, Globalive, would operate under the Wind Mobile brand, and would turn on service at some point this year. That happened late last week. Wind, which offers no-contract plans, will now cover most of Canada, setting up direct competition with the incumbents, Rogers, Bell, and Telus. In addition to offering no contract service, Wind also extends a hand to those with a poor credit history. Their postpaid plans require a credit check, but they also offer all of their plans, with no modifications, on a prepaid basis. That means if you want their Always Talk plan — $35 per month with unlimited incoming text and calling within the WIND HOME Zone — you can pay for it before the month and get the same service as those who pay once they’ve received the service. This also extends to their data plans. You can head to shop.windmobile.ca for information on phones and plans. Expect to see a review on the .ca site soon.]]>
