Get a Phone and 1 Year of Service for $200

freedompop

FreedomPop and 9to5toys have banded together to offer consumers a pretty sweet deal. I’m not sure when this promotion ends—presumably when supplies run out—but for a limited time, 9to5toys is selling a Nexus 5 and one year of subscription to FreedomPop services for $200. Here’s what you get for that money:
  • Unlocked Nexus 5
  • 1 year of visual voicemail ($30 value)
  • 1 year of tethering ($48 value)
  • 1 year of usage alerts ($24 value)
  • Unlimited talk and text via Freedompop, plus 500 MB data per month (Normally $20 per month)
The Nexus 5 will come pre-activated with FreedomPop services, but customers could cancel and switch to any CDMA or GSM service they choose. This Nexus 5 has 16 GB of memory and will ship with Lollipop 5.1. The device overall has some pretty nice specs and is a revamped version of last year’s flagship from Google. You can check out the full specs here. FreedomPop is a freemium MVNO that offers customers free limited services every month. The company uses both Sprint’s network and Wifi. In order to activate the included Freedompop services on your new phone, consumers will have to give a credit card number. After the year is over, customers will be charged about $20/month to continue service. You can, of course, downgrade to the free service at any time. Like several other carriers, FreedomPop uses both a carrier network and wifi signals to offer connectivity. FreedomPop is a Sprint MVNO.
