MetroPCS launches in Shreveport – Bossier City

said that it would be working on the network on Interstate 20 headed to Dallas. It seems they’ve gotten some of that work done, as yesterday they announced a new market in the Dallas area: Shreveport – Bossier City. This will help them run service straight into Dallas.

“Shreveport – Bossier City is a key market for MetroPCS and as a new member of this community, MetroPCS will demonstrate its commitment by offering consumers a fresh approach to wireless, as well as contiguous service to Dallas,” said Tracy Lange, vice president and general manager, for the market. “Our flat-rate, unlimited, low cost service plans make MetroPCS an affordable, worry-free and planned expense for all consumers who are looking to reduce extra spending and streamline their budgets. With our unlimited service, users can save dollars each month by eliminating their home phone and have only one phone – their MetroPCS phone. We believe we will be the natural choice of wireless service for Shreveport – Bossier City residents.”
As we mentioned last week, this will not be an AWS market. Like Dallas, it will be part of the PCS network. Metro will have 15 authorized dealers in the cities, with five more planned before year’s end. ]]>

YEah well you know what? It’s freaking AWS. That’s what the lady said when I went today to get my samsung r410 hooked up with service. I thought shreveport’s location was not supposed to be any different than any other metropcs location? Apparently I HAVE to buy a new phone as ANY phones from ANY locations will not work on the AWS network????So also that negates the being able to activate any CDMA phone? Is this True? Or was she just trying to make me buy a new phone??

Yeah, this is AWS…I flubbed press releases, and I’m sorry.
I’m not sure that the MetroFlash service will work with the AWS network. Theoretically it should. But I suppose they can do whatever theyw ant with it.
