Brightspot Mobile Shutting Down in Dec

Last month, we talked about some rumors that Target was planning on shutting down its T-Mobile prepaid wireless company, Brightspot Mobile. Well, it looks like the rumors were true and Brightspot will indeed be shutting down by December 31, 2015. Current Brightspot Mobile customers are being encouraged to switch to T-Mobile prepaid instead. This announcement was reportedly sent to Brightspot Mobile customers via the following text message:

“Brightspot and T-Mobile are partnering to bring you even better wireless plans. No need to take any action now as Brightspot service will continue through the end of this year. Look for more info in the coming weeks on how you can easily transition to T-Mobile plans which offer more value, 4G LTE data and can save you money.“

Currently, the Brightspot Mobile website looks fully operational and I don’t really see any indication on the site that the company is closing down. However, I can’t say that I’m surprised by the move to shutter Brightspot as the company was plagued with all kinds of issues and didn’t seem to be all that well advertised to me. Either way,  if you are currently a Brightspot Mobile customer, then you might want to start checking out T-Mobile’s prepaid plans or considering other options to port before the December deadline.]]>
