For prepaid users, an unlocked phone is like a golden ticket. With a free and clear device you can jump ship as many times as you want until you find the perfect carrier with the best coverage and prices for wherever you’re currently located. But, unlocked devices tend to cost twice as much as others, and many prepaid carriers don’t sell devices off the shelf unlocked. So, If you’re in the market for a $100 unlocked Android handset, then Blu’s new Studio C smartphone is definitely worth a look. Released late last week, the Studio C is a $100 budget phone that packs some pretty decent specs which will be totally functional for most users and allow for some decent taks and multitasking. Here’s what you can expect under that shiny casing:
  • Android Lollipop 5.0
  • quadcore 1.3 GHz processsor
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 8 GB memory
  • microSD card slot (up to 64 GB)
  • 8 MP back camera
  • 2 MP front camera
  • 3,000 mAh battery
The Studio C is compatible with several US GSM networks based from AT&T and T-Mobile including Cricket, MetroPCS, Straight Talk and any others utilizing AT&T or T-Mobile bands. I haven’t had a chance to actually play with it, but the few reviews on Amazon were extremely positive and getting a Lollipop device for $100 is pretty awesome. You can buy the Blu Studio C on Amazon now in pink, orange, mint green, white or gray. The device ships unlocked and comes with a manufaturer’s warranty.
