Horrible, Horrible, Horrible experience. This company is the worst ever. You will never get an agent on the phone that is located here in the US. You will gey someone in India or South america that does not speak English. After hours on hold trying to resolve the most simple issue the frustration kicks in and you end up hanging up. They are trully horrible. I purchase a phone via internet several months ago and still no service. They have sent me now 2 Zincards and nothing works, Worst of all is that not only are they not willing to replace or refund the phone or creit for the monthly service i have already paid for. Please run fast to waste your money this is a rip off. I have filed several complaints with the BBB and the state attorneys office in Miami. They should not be doing business.

Purachased a new phone to replace a damaged phone. I could not transfer my old number or minutes to my new phone. I have been on the phone with them for 4 days trying to get this resolved. They keep transferring you to another person. Here is their corporate # 1-800-876-5753. Maybe if everyone calls this number, they will get their act together.

NO CUSTOMER SERVICE! I bought the phone in march because it was the cheapest pre-paid service. All was o.k. till I went out-of-state in arpil. It started charging me EXPENSIVE roaming charges. When I got back to CA, it continued to charge roaming charges. It took me a little while to catch on because I don't talk much and text a little. I called cust. serv. WAITING A VERY LONG TIME. All they do is say they're sorry but they can't refund anything or give you gratis minutes. They had me code this and code that but the roaming charges stayed on. I called back and WAITED A VERY LONG TIME, again, and at the end of that call, my phone doesn't work at all and I still have hours of pre-paid time. I called yesterday and today, waited 2 hours both days and no answer. CLASS-ACTION SUIT!!!!! They don't deserve our business. DON'T BUY THIS SERVICE.

I've used tracfone for about 5 years, no real problems. Yeah you have to jump through a few hoop. Their phone selection could be better in the Motorola offerings. It is kind of a bite when you buy a new phone to get hit up again for the double minute card when you've already paid for it a couple of times and all you want is a piece of new hardware!

I never write reviews, but the large number of negative reviews prompted me to do so. I purchased a TracFone for my son to use for emergencies last summer, and we've been very happy. The price is unbelievably cheap, and by searching the internet for promo codes, I have always gotten great deals on his minutes when we add them (which I've always done online). In addition, I am not too worried if he loses his phone, as I am not out much money or worrying about someone making a bunch of calls on our account. We did run into a technical problem with his phone, and I called customer service. I was on hold for about 5 minutes, then had a really helpful CSR who was anxious to please and fixed our phone's code problem in about 5 minutes. We did have to enter a fairly lengthy code a couple of times, but then we were done. My husband and I use contract phones with a large provider (sadly we have to use our phones more than we'd like, so TracFone doesn't suit our needs), but we're thrilled by how the TracFone has worked for our son. The TracFone is super inexpensive, so hey, we expect to have it be a little more work now and then. It's affordable wireless and very low risk.

Is it possible to give 0 stars? I have had nothing but issues with activation of my tracfone. It has now been 6 days and the phone still will not send or receive calls. I have called twice a day every day and each time I am on the phone for about an hour and then they tell me to wait 24 hours. This same thing happened last time I activated the same phone, I was hoping it would not happen again and it was a fluke. It is very frustrating and if I had to do it all over again I would have gone with a different company.

No one actually talks to you-just the ‘all agents are busy) crap. Easier to go to WalMart and buy one of theirs and get a different phone # I guess if hey don't want to keep the customers they have…….

I've had TracFone since 3/2005. I'm on my 2nd phone. Although i save a lot of money, i'm less than thrilled with their customer service. With a lot of patience i get the service i need, but i dread calling them for any help. Talking with them is much like talking to a robot on Mars. They work from scripts that aren't flexible to individual circumstances. I feel for all of you victims and am praying that i continue with my ‘good' luck. I've been thinking of switching to StraightTalk but the reviews are even worse. Don't think i'll take the risk for a few $ in savings.

Tracfone is a ripoff. My family has used tracfone for years, and we continue to use them no matter how much I beg that we get on a network. Tracfone overcharges for their minutes, their phones are absolute CRAP, and their customer service and coverage is okay at best. If you need a phone to use in emergencies, tracfone is okay. If you are a teenager or even just someone who uses their phone a lot, tracfone is NOT the way to go.

if you had a minus rating tracfone would get it. i bought one in jan. 2010 and it worked fine till i added on more minutes in march, since then all i've had is trouble. i've called about not being able to answer the phone cause they are restricted calls (what is that) can not make calls to other phones sometimes you get a weird ring and it does not go thru. the people at tracfone do not care, they do not keep records of problems, if you ask to speak to someone higher up no one is there, but if you yell enough they transfer you to another person who can not help you. they say its the signal in my area my husband has a tracfone and never had this trouble. i use the phone for emer. but if you can not rely on it what good is it. on wednesday june 30 i called hung up by sean once called again recording said to call back another time. sent an email, got answer back i will be contacted within 24 to 48 hours, it took over 72 hours and could not get anywhere with two reps.i travel to work almost 40 miles and would like a phone thats useable. before you invest in a tracfhone call the 800 number and see if they can answer any questions. i bet they can not

Purchased a TRACFONE Samsung T301 at Walmart yesterday. Double minutes for life. Activated and loaded minutes online. Went off without a hitch. Used a online promo code and received an extra 50 minutes and two months.Of course you'll read more complaints than praise. People don't usually sound off when things go right. More likely to post a comment when there's problems.

Had tracfone for about 6 years and three phones. First phone the phone died when I used the car phone charger. It did take a while and multiple calls and e mails before the phone was replaced at their expense and all the minutes replaced after I told them that I would contact the state public untilities with a letter and I also requested a record of all of my phone records. That replacement phone lasted for almost 5 years before the LCD screen started to act up due to the fact that there was a crack developing at the hinge area due to all the abuse of physical activity that I had been doing work outside. I did replace this with at more updated model and it is working very well. The addition of minutes is much more simpler on the newer phone models. The customer service walked me closely to transfereing the old phone number and the minutes to the new phone number. I have been very pleased wtih the service that I have received for the past six years. The tech and customer service have been very courteous and if there is something complicated, I have been referred to the supervisor courteously. I have helped my daughter who has had four tracfones in a succession due to lost phones or desire for a newer model with more features and every time we had very courteous and helpful service from tech and customer service. My wife has had her original flip motorola phone for the past 6 to 7 years and it is working very well. She cares for her phone very carefully and well. She has been pleased with the services and currently is not in the market for the newer phone models with more features. In short, our family has been very fortunate and pleased with tracfone services. I personally have witnessed customer service at places like Verizon stores in the US and the shear anger and frustration of customers in those stores about outrageous charges, incompetent customer services, and hapless managers and these are all American workers representing Verizon. So, I personally don't think that anyone cell company has the corner on poor customer service. In this age of instant service, our expectations are very high and what is received may be something to be desired. Less you think this is only a US problem, try getting a cell phone in a third world country at a cell phone shop in Guatemala and wait for customer service. It can really test your patience even if you have a competent interpreter.

This company has the worst customer service on earth! Recently I had one of my phones die. I keep an older phone as a spare. I spent all most three hours with the customer service reps, attempting to transfer my number from the dead phone to the back up.. I did get my new SIMM in just three days. That was over 2 weeks ago, I still don't have my number transfered to my back up phone. I have emailed them and get the same response call customer service.. Each time I do all that ends up happening is I give them the serial numbers to each phone, and the SIMM card number.. I am put on hold for at least 5 mins. When the CSR returns, we start the process over agian… This has gone on for 3 calls totaling all most 2 hours.. Needless to say I am looking for another provider and will not recommend these people to any one

FINALLY CAN RECEIVE CALLS! We had two older Nokia phones that started telling callers ‘no longer in service'. Tracfone told me that phones and service obsolete, get new phones. We wanted to keep our phone #s and minutes/airtime. Went through the grueling processes/days waiting lots of time even to the point of being disconnected from the customer service folks. When Tracfone would make the ‘test' call the phone would ring; we could call from another Tracfone but not the landline. My husband finally tried making a call to our landline and phones started working. We had been told we would have to get new #s and thought that was in process but never took place. We had not turned off our Nokia phones and they would ring but not having any time/service days could not answer. Sorry for rambling but this is what finally worked after getting the minutes/airtime on new phone: turn off old phone & remove battery; when Tracfone says you are activated, make a call to a landlineHope this can help someone.

Do not purchase airtime by way of e-mail received. After purchasing I found that I could have gotten 250 bonus minutes by going directly to the site and buying airtime than from their e-mail incentive. Instead I only got 200 bonus minutes. Tracfone would not honor the extra 50 minutes because I had already used the e-mail promotion. I requested they take me off the e-mail list. From now on when I need minutes I will go directly to the site and purchase when I find a good promotion. Both promotions expired at the same time. I was ticked because even though I purchased airtime directly from their site they would not give me the additional 50 minutes. Most every purchase you encounter from other stores would have adjusted this difference but not Tracfone.

I don't know info that ‘excellent customer service' rating is based on, but in truth Tracfone service is terrible. I needed to call just to add minutes (every time) because, well their phone service stinks too. Average call time about 1 hour. And if one more rep asks me if the gold bars are aligned on my battery, I'm getting out my hammer.

Wow if you read down the list of all these reviews there seems to be a general consensus: Tracfone customer service sucks! To those that still think tracfone is awesome… get out while you still have your sanity!! If anything goes wrong with your phone you are screwed. Customer service is beyond horrible. Expect your call to take minimum 1.5 hours and that your issue not be resolved. Expect to have to call back several times before your issue is resolved…if it ever is. The people they hire are idiots. If they don't understand your issue they keep repeating the same answer over and over again. You spend more time on hold then talking to these people. Asking for a supervisor is useless, they are just as stupid. This could be such an awesome company if they could just hire people with high school degrees and get some better organization in their customer service. I am a very even tempered person and am very polite to people even customer service representative. But these guys pushed me over the edge! I would have canceled my service but I just bought the 200$ card that I have barely used and apparently there is absolutely no way to get a refund…thanks Tracfone!

Don't buy T-mobile, they don't give refunds, move from one plan to another when adding or removing one of two phones from service. Not on mandatory service plan for service, had own phones which were previously activated with T-mobile. Home phone service is a joke also. Tried it with no service even when they said it was activated, it was not and was charged for the activation, never worked.

I had a tracfone for 2 years with no problems… great coverage and reasonably reliable, albeit cheap, reconditioned phones. Then I went to replace the old phone and transfer the number to the new phone… It was a nightmare being unable to make or receive calls. Multiple calls and several hours to tech support and giving/receiving the same info from 3 different representatives whose answers were: ‘wait 72 hours, wait 48 more hours' etc. After a week with no service I finally asked to speak to someone in the U.S. for a refund. The refund supervisor told me to try adding different codes into the phone, and within about 2 minutes she got it to work. Maybe they could train the tech support crew to do the same thing???

I think that the people who are unhappy with Tracfone are those who dont do the research before getting one. They offer the most basic phones, often refurbished, with no extras. This allows them to be so cheap. It means they have to cut corners in places (customer service is one) but it keeps their rates down. All prepaid services have the same problems, I like Tracfone because its the most affordable option out there.

I have had TracFone since Dec. '09. Have not had any of the issues or problems some have encountered. I like my Samsung T101G; reception and call quality are excellent. Added minutes with no problems. Downloaded a ringtone and a graphic, both with no problem. This phone has double minutes ‘for life'. And with TracFone you keep your minutes as long as you don't allow your service days to run out. I do wish I could set up sms txt alerts with my Bank, etc. But, when I tried I got a message back that says ‘Sorry this service is not part of your plan'. Oh well, I am usually near a computer and I can use the web browser on the TracFone. The only other thing is- I wonder: can 911 operators see my location with TracFone, just in case I ever do have to call them in an emergency and I am not near a landline phone? Overall I would recommend TracFone. Good value and economical service for those who are not heavy texters and/or talkers.

Try ANY other carrier before attempting Tracfone. We lost $44 in buying a phone and phone card on which we could not make one call to Panama. 1-1/2 hours of time, several calls to Tracfone with promises that it'd be working in 24 hours, 72 hours, whatever. Never happened. After almost one month of frustration and not being able to use, we're done — except to try to get the word out that this should be a phone of last resort.

Sixth year with Tracfone and the few problems I've had were because I didn't do something correctly and they had to help me out. I've had three phones (because I wanted a different model – all new) and no problem transferring over. They had to help me with setting up voice mail but that's it. My kids laugh at my phone but I laugh back while telling them what my actual monthly dollars spent is. No contracts for me – and hey, I talk to everyone who has one of the fancy, schmancy phones and contracts.

What a freaking nightmare. I have spent 4 hours in the last 30 days on the phone with their customer service and it still doesn't work right! Always one more person to talk to and then you have to start all over again. This is a great pre-paid phone plan – if you never need service. The phones are all rebuilt and they don't want to honor warranties – 1 hour to have them agree to replace and another 30 minutes to have them agree that it was under warranty and then at the end of the call they ask if I dropped it to try and get out of it! They send the replacement phone 3 days later, but have it set-up so that I cannot use the same phone number (another hour plus on phone) and then I have to wait 3 days for a new SIM card. Get the new card and then even more service phone time and I think I am all set – until I go to add minutes! The phone or website wont let me add time. (by the way they apparently keep your credit card data and don't show that in your web account) An hour and 20 minutes today and then I got escalated to a manager (must be a super-manager, because 2 out of 3 agents today were also ‘managers'). They would be happy to charge me and add minutes for me, but not to get their service working. I find it ironic that it takes more of your time then the time you get with TracFone. If they fix my problem I will probably stay (it is a good plan), if not I will drop them – it just isnt worth the negative time.

I purchased a TracFone about a month ago and after going through the lengthy activation of entering code after code into the phone (all codes were entered correctly & accepted), it would not work. I called customer service & spent over 1/2 hour on the phone with someone I could barely understand. After he led me through several more codes to enter, he told me the phone was defective & they would send me another. I did receive the replacement quickly, but it too failed to work. After another 30-45 frustrating minutes on the phone, I decided to return the phones & get my money back. While I was able to get the money back for the phone, they refused to refund the money for the additional airtime I purchased, despite the fact that I was not able to use the phone. I understand not refunding unused airtime that a customer chooses not to use, but to refuse to refund airtime when a customer is unable to use it because the phones don't work does not make sense to me. I even commented that it seemed ridiculous for a large company to risk bad word of mouth over an issue like this. No one really seemed interested in hearing what I had to say. They just kept saying ‘Thank you for choosing TracFone' and sent me an email saying that they were happy that the matter was able to be resolved successfully. I let them know that it may have been resolved to their satisfaction but not to mine.My recommendation: Stay away from TracFone!

You may hear people saying they like their TracFone, but wait until you have to deal with their customer service. Be prepared for Hispanics with limited English skills who can’t even do simple math. I am ready to dump my TracFone bought at WalMart after only a few months. My wife says I am being too critical, but last night she had her own horrific experience with their customer service. She finally slammed the phone down on the rep. She could not understand him, and he was giving some kind of answer that was in no way related to my wife’s question. She finally agreed with me that their customer service has gone down the drain. A friend told me to go with T Mobile. WalMart does not show this service, but other retailers do. Good luck if you bought a TracFone. It's a shame to read reviews from people who think we should just accept bad service in everything. Sorry, I was not brought up that way.

It's amusing to see all the complaints about customer service. Guess these folks don't get around much. Most customer service is outsourced these days, so if they don't speak perfect English, so what? Besides, I suspect most of the people complaining here aren't English majors themselves. That said, the one time I had to call CS, they were fine. Very polite and eager to please. They took care of my issue and that was that. It's also worth remembering that most people don't post good things; they only post things to complain. So if you see lots of complaints, keep that in mind.I like my Tracfone; I talk and text and save money. My phone isn't my life. It's a phone. No biggie!

So far I have not experienced any of the problems that have been posted on this site. I activated the phone on line, no problems with losing minutes, called customer service once and received prompt service. Tracphone is not meant to take the place of any of the major contract players. It is an inexpensive way to have cell phone service. It reminds me of being in Germany there were no required contracts just buy the phone you want and add minutes and away you go, too bad it is not like that here in the US, it is more like the old Ma Bell monopoloies here.

I saw HSN pushing the TracFone… they do not indicate if the Fone is new or used, they do not tell you what refill 400 minute cards cost, so cost-per-minute is not known.. double minutes is meaningless if you do not know the price. HSN seems to have a nack for finding bad manufacturers and services, and pushing their products.. Coincidence, or not, I am not sure.My impression of the poor customer service is NOT that the reps are foreigners, that is not what makes or breaks quality service. It is the commitment of the company they are contracting with that determines if service is meant to be service or to get rid of the great unwashed. It is not MY opinion, but the carriers that throwaway phone buyers are bad credit deadbeats and drug dealers… so why give good service?Read the terms of service on the site….. they got a way to wiggle out of anything, shut down service for any or no reason or explanation. So I will heed the warnings, and check out Cricket, Boost and all the other pre-paid phone offerings for the backup phone. My REAL cell phone has 800 min a month for 60.00 bucks…. mothnly bills are consistant, customer service is pretty good…. if you whine a little, you will get what you were supposed to! Yay Sprint….. far improved customer service comparted to just 5 years ago…. but your STORES suck swampwater…. they are evil. My recommendation for dealing with ANY type of tech support? Use a Speakerphone landline… so you are not srillign the handset into you head…. get work done, I pay my bills while on hold.KUDOS to of all firms… MICROSOFT… they spent 4 hours re-doing my computer…. the folks in the Philippines were WONDERFUL and fairly easy to understand. Dialect is far lighter than Missisippi or Texas! So, lets not rag on the PhD who is supplementing their income by sealing with whiny Americans…. let's give them a break, and they will do as much as they have the authority to do.

I purchase 450 mins for my daughters telephone and the mins were never received. We called and email customer service many times from different phones, house telephone and I even purchased a new Tracfone (could not add mins due to mins authorized to daughters phone), which was another waste of my money. And as of 7 days later, the 450 mins have not shown up on her Tracfone. Very disappointed with customer services or the person who and how they thought they programmed the telephone to received. They did not do a very good or intelligent job.

Customer service is a joke. I tried to add minutes online and after 24 hours the time was not added to my phone. When I called to find out why the minutes did not show up I sent an hour being transfered then told no one could trace the transaction. Although you are given a ‘Tranaction ID' to indentify the purchase, I was told the could not trace the purchase. I went on line again and realized that the wrong phone # was entered. (0ne digit was wrong when the info automaticly came up) I called Customer Service again to try to correct the problem and spent forever trying to get a Supervisor. LONG story -short They told me that there was nothing they could do. This error cost me $190 (double minute card and 1000 minutes) Warning!! do not use a Debit Card to purchase airtime!!! Once the money is gone you have NO recourse. At least with a Credit card you can dispute the charge. Someone made out well and received this $190 airtime but it wasn't me. Also very hard to understand Reps ‘english'We need to bring these jobs back to America!

Tracfone has the worst website for making airtime purchases. It is incredibly frustrating. I log into my account and go to buy airtime but it has my old crdit card info. There is absolutely no way to change it. I try to edit the credit card info and it is greyed out. I also try to add another credit card and it is also unable to take my new card information. Customer service is not available so if you can't make credit card purchases online you have to wait until they are open. Please tell me there is a company out there that knows how to treat customers that want their business.

I'm currently on hold waiting for the friggin service representative. It's been two weeks since I recieved the phone in the mail. It took a week and several 20 minute calls to their service department to get my airtime and old phone number transfered to the new phone. Ironically, the phone connection is often garbled, and the service representatives usually have heavy accents. After asking you a few questions and confirming the phone serial number, they'll put you on hold for a couple minutes while they talk to their technical department. Without an explanation, they'll give you a ticket number and ask you to call back in four hours for the technical department to make the needed changes. When you call back as instructed, an entirely new person asks the same questions and walks through the same steps which makes you wonder what the ticket number was for. After two ticket numbers, I insisted on a supervisor. She instantly knew what to do. They sent me a new sim card. Now my voice mail set up doesn't work, and I've spent several days and been through two ticket numbers. When I started this rant I was on hold waiting for a supervisor. The connection just went dead. DO NOT BUY A TRACFONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Impossible to activate/renew without help from tech support, and each time I my service/add minutes, I spend 2+ hourstalking to a rep who sounds like s/he is speaking from the 3rd circle of Hell (and probably is). Enough is enough, and I will be budgeting for a different cell phone plan rather than endure the aggravation of poor tech support.

I bought a tracfone for my 10 year old 3 years ago and have no complaints. It is true that customer service outsources and the reps can be difficult to understand sometimes. However, they have always been extremely polite and knowledgeable in contrast to my US-based cell phone service. I always find Motorola phones are pretty awful, so I don't blame tracfone for that. I just bought my now 13 year old a new Samsung tracfone and are waiting for it to be activated, so we'll see how it goes. But overall, if you don't use a lot of minutes the price and service can't be beat.

I bought the TracFone so that I could port over my home phone number and replace a very large bill from ATT with a much more manageable one. While my home phone number was ported over to the phone in a reasonable amount of time the phone never worked. It was very important to me that I be able to keep my home phone number, but when they went through the process of activating my phone so that I could actually make and take calls, despite the fact that I had emphasized over and over and over again that I needed to keep my home phone number, they changed my phone number. Unbelievable!!!As this was unacceptable they told me they would send me a new SIM card with my home phone number on it. They said it would arrive in 3-5 days. Three weeks later I called TracFone to see where the SIM card was. They didn't know and said they'd send me another one. I got the original SIM card I was supposed to get the next day so I installed it and called customer service as there was no phone number associated with the card like they'd promised. I'm sure there's another SIM card on the way somewhere. Who knows when it'll get here. After about an hour my home phone number was finally showing up, but when I placed a call it was a different number and I still couldn't receive calls. They said my phone would be working in about an hour. I waited 2 hours and it still wasn't working. The bottom line is, it's been over a month and several calls to customer service now and this issue is still not resolved. As others have stated, you get put on hold every couple of minutes or so, but the problem doesn't ever seem to get resolved and what's more, you have to keep explaining your situation each time you call. This is a very poorly run company. I would never recommend TracFone to a friend. I have lost more than a month of availability for my home phone now. Who knows what calls I may have missed? I was also asked to activate my minutes when I started this process so the service days remaining are also diminishing while TracFone drags their feet and tries to figure out how to fix their ineptitude. I'm seriously considering filing a complain with the Better Business Bureau. I'm loathe to give this company even 1 star in my rating. Too bad they don't have negative stars.

Wow, I'm glad I never had to bother with the service. My complaint is the phones they sold with the plan. These Motorola's simply suck. It's the worst phone I've ever had in my entire cell phone using history. It might be an ok phone, but the battery Tracfone sends these out with barely lasts 24 hours with a full charge. And this is for all three phones I got from these guys. And yes, I fully charged before using them. Here's an example of why I bothered to get on and type this – I charged my ‘fone fully at 5pm last night, and it's just now lunch time the following day and it's already dead again. 18 hours – wow. Frankly, it's such a pain in the ass trying to keep these things charged that my whole family has pretty much quit using cell phones, so that may be the silver lining. I know they probably do this to cut costs, but come on. It's basically like a land line phone that I can carry around with me, but I have to be plugging it in where ever I go if I want to be sure there's enough charge to actually use it. Otherwise, now I have to go out and buy 3 batteries to have phones that aren't constantly shutting down.

Tracfone is in the dark ages with this, so I am reviewing other prepaid plans. All I read is bad reviews on all the companies. Yes they are difficult to understand, and it takes time, but my problems were resolved to my satisfaction. The first time, I added a double your minutes card. The phone jingled, indicating it had received the card, but when I next added minutes, they were not doubled. I spoke to cust. serv. and they corrected my problem right away. Then I upgraded and had trouble activating the new phone. I called and they were very helpful. This was all more than a year ago, so I hope their service has not gone as sour as all these frustrated customers make it sound. Good luck to you all!

I bought a Tracfone two days ago. After activating it I tested it by calling from another phone and it didn't work. I could hardly understand the man at Tracphone but after a half hour of working with him he said the phone was broken. The next day I returned it to the store and got a new one and had Abagail at Tracfone activate it and transfer the minutes (I hadn't used any – 60 minutes 90 days for $20) from the old phone to the new one. Abagail said it would take an hour. Two hours later, I still didn't have any minutes. I called back and was told they could not find the minutes in my old or new phone. Since they had both phone numbers, serial numbers, activation numbers I thought they could track to see where the minutes got put but the woman said there is no way to check and no one could help me from there and that I should buy a new card. I paid $20 for nothing!! She didn't think that was a problem that I never used the minutes and she said she would transfer me to someone else and her phone hung up. I called back two more times and they could not help me – same story, don't know what happened to $20 worth of minutes. I wonder if Abagail put my minutes in her own phone??? Luckily I remembered I used my credit card for the purchase and in a few minutes my credit card company said not to worry they would credit my account and take it up with the company and ‘I understood every word they said'. We are at the mercy of these so called customer service people who we can't understand and who don't care at all about helping us! I have had trac phone for my teenagers for 4 years. I put them on a monthly plan that was to be updated each month. I first find that the customer service is horrible. I spend anywhere from 2 to 3 hours trying to get something that is easy to do done. My sons first phone broke. They sent me a new one and when I activated it they never transfered the min. I spent 2 hours on the phone with them and they told me that they could only give me half of the time that he had because they could not verify that he did have it when it was showing on the old phone screen before it died. Then the second thing that happened was that on the same phone they were taking the money out every month and I never recieved the min. When I called in after 2 months of not getting the time they only would give me half of what I paid for because they kept telling me that I got the min. The last straw was when they deactivated my daughters phone that was on the 50 min plan each month. When I called in I spent 3 hours on the phone with a rep that I could not understand and the reception on his phone was only able to every other to every third word he said and when he did talk his voice was so distorted that I dont know what he was saying. I asked several times to speak to a supervisor and he would not transfer me. My daughter had 211 min and shut of date of Oct 2010 and was told that I need to purchase more min for them to reactivate the phone. I told him I was not since this was their mistake. They finally reactivated the phone but took away the time that she had to use her min. So I have now gone to Verizon which is a better company and better service. At leasts their customer service people can understand what you are saying and you can understad them.

The customer reps must be in Timbuktu or somewhere, and their computers must be 286's with 12 megs or RAM on a 64 mByte HD; they're so slow. Plus if you're lucky, you'll get a rep that speaks OK English. As soon as I can, I'm going over to Verizon. (They're somewhere in South America, apparently, which would be perfectly fine if they could converse with the customers or had some sort of competence in what they are doing, but neither is present). They're very, VERY polite, I'll give them that, but the gross incompetence exhibited by everyone I've spoken to there has me going postal by the second hour of repeated ‘please hold' sessions, nonetheless.Absolutely the WORST excuse for customer service I've ever encountered.

After all I've been through with their service, The coverage is good, as I mentioned, but I come to realize that their service is a good company to have in handy when in an emergency situation when your primary cell has dead battery or something. These type of phones are good to have in your car or glove box. This is good for roadside assistance or an IMPORTANT call in other words. Its always good to have a ‘second plan' and TracFone should be an emergency phone, not a primary-use-all-day-everyday phone.

However, I have to switch because the customer service is so bad. About four times over the years, the phone suddenly indicated that I had no minutes left and the ‘redeem airtime' menu options disappeared. (And no, I hadn't used up all the airtime.) Contacting Tracfone, they always said that it was a new ‘code problem,' and you have to enter in multiple long numbers on your phone to solve the problem. You MIGHT be able to do this by entering in your phone serial # on the website, but sometimes it doesn't work. Then you have to call and endure trying to enter the codes while the customer service person (often with a heavy accent) tries to read them to you. It's just too much nonsense. And when the phone craps out like this, they give you no warning or notification. You have to contact them to solve THEIR problem.

Super cheap rates. I just bought a year of time, which comes with 400 minutes, plus my phone has double-minutes for life, which came with it, and I bought the time online, so I was able to use a promo code (pops right up on their website) so 400 minutes doubled to 800 plus the 200 minute promo code got me 1,000 minutes for $100. That's ten cents a minute. Plus they offer extra minutes on the final screen for a super-low price. A year of cell phone service for $100 bucks? My friends with their contract phones pay at least $50 a month. I figure I'm saving myself at least $500 a year going with my Trac-fone. If I talked a lot on my phone, it might be cheaper for me to get a different plan, with a different company, but I don't talk much. I always have left over minutes at the end of the year, which I don't lose as long as I add another card. I've had one for ten years and love it. (upgraded a few times over the years.) My phone may not be as fancy as some, like I can't get video messages, but I'm ok with this. My phone only cost me $20, not hundreds. Also realize that Tracfone does not own their own towers; they bounce their signal off other carriers. Some models work with Verizon towers, but most are now AT&T. So don't blame them for poor signal

Coverage is crap..same location, other users with AT&T, and StraightTalk, which supposedly is on the SAME network as this RIPOFF Phone, were able to get out fine..No bars on the TRACPHONE, worse than T-Mobile, no bars on that one either…..I wasted 10 bucks, won't waste any more. Going to StraightTalk.

If I could give no stars I would. Their customer service is the worst I have ever encounter. I was on the phone for 2 hours (put on hold several times) and then they still weren't able to help me. They said they would put in a report to investigate the matter and they never did. I called back later to check and was put on hold again for another 30 minutes. I finally had to tell them I didn't want to talk to them anymore, since they didn't seem competent enough to talk to me. I really don't see how the review of this gives it such a high rating and says it has good customer service, because it's simply not true.

My first e-mail sent Saturday, April 24, 2010 I am very unhappy. I'm a new customer and have experienced total lack of knowledge with your CSR's. I have spent over 90 minutes, 8 separate phone calls, talking to 8 different people and not one person resolved the issue. It’;s simple- I purchased a 60 minute pre-pay card and a phone using the website. The phone arrived, I activated it, received 20 bonus minutes and that's all. Not my 60 min.'s pre-paid nor the double minutes for life as promised for buying the motorola W376g. I am wanting to cancel, return the phone, get all my money back and go elsewhere. I have never experienced such inept service with a cell phone provider. When I requested to speak to a supervisor I was told ‘They are in a meeting', and ‘the supervisor is too busy', or other such excuses. Twice, I was transferred to a supervisor, only to be left on hold for over ten minutes each time. I had to hang up and call back, start all over with a new inept CSR and try again. It seems TracFone is daring me to try to use my purchase and TracFone will do its very best to stop me. I will be posting a copy of this complaint on every website that does cell phone reviews and warn all others of your gross negligence. I will also include your reply. I doubt that you will even get back to me in a timely manner as it is now Saturday a.m. Should I have to call the 800 number using the 20 min.s I have left to resolve your problem? I do not have any other phone so that is the only option left to me. Will I be reimbursed for my troubles? At this point the only thing that will satisfy me is free cell phone service for life.TracFone replyThank you for your interest in TracFone Wireless. We are responding to your recent inquiry. The order number is: xxxxxxxxx I also want to know why my bonus 20 min.s have been reduced to 16.2 minutes. I have not placed any calls. I received unwanted spam text messages including 1 from TracFone. Is it your predatory policy to charge me time and money to read and delete unsolicited spam text?I expect reimbursement for my wasted time dealing with trying to correct your problem. You did not address this in your reply. What are you going to do about it?TracFone replyThank you for your interest in TracFone Wireless. We are responding to your recent inquiry. We appreciate your business.Sincerely,TracFone WirelessMy responseSunday, April 25, 9:00AMI received your reply requesting me to call your Sales Support. As I only had the 16.2 minutes left on my new phone and no other phone available I was forced to call your company using the new phone. I provided the Sales Support Representative with all the information needed and several times I told the Sales support Representative that my minutes were running out and to expedite the problem resolution. I keep getting a response ‘I am checking on the system to verify information' Eventually the time ran out on my phone and the call was dropped. I now have no phone service and no way to contact your miserable company other than e-mail to resolve YOUR PROBLEM. So far, beginning with Thursday, April 22, I have made one 20 minute phone call to activate without success, forced to go online and activated with success but only received 20 bonus minutes. I did not receive the 60 minutes I paid for and certainly not the double minutes as contracted by your company to guarantee for the life of my service with your organization. I made 7 phone calls on Friday, April 23 and no one person was able to resolve the issue. I was placed on hold for over 10 minutes, twice, while waiting to be transferred to a supervisor.I have sent two e-mails requesting problem resolution only to get e-mail responses that ask for more information and never a commitment to fix the problem. Total time I have spent in my efforts to get a reasonable problem resolution is now over 2 hours and I have nothing but a ‘dead' phone, having exhausted my precious 20 bonus minutes with no satisfaction. I am now sending my last e-mail with the expectation that you get proactive, research and fix the problem without my continued participation, having to hand hold your inept process and slowly spoon feed your people with the same information over and over and over again only to never get anywhere but completely mad that your company is a pitiful excuse for wasting customers time and stealing money with total disregard to the paid customer. Contract law specifies that there exist consideration on the side of both parties. You are in violation of contract law and you have not provided appropriate consideration to support your side of the contract. I have provided my money and pre-paid for services never received. Your failure to adhere to a fair and legal contract now leads me to seek satisfaction in other means. This will include legal remedies if your company chooses to ignore me and fails to fix your problem in a timely manner.

Consider that you can buy a phone for $20, 800 minutes for $90 (using the double minutes card that came with the $20 phone) and you have a great cheap solution for occasional users. That is around 11 cents per minute. Add to it that you can get 3 texts per minute which means that texts are under 4 cents each and you have a real winner. As far as poor english speaking tech support – have you called Verizon? I have dealt with tech support one time and I was satisfied. Don't expect $100/month support from a plan that costs so little – quite being a bunch of spoiled-I-want-everything-for-cheap crybabies! Check the coverage maps – they beat BOTH Verizon and AT&T and the Motorola $20 has as good reception as my Blackberry on Verizon's plan. Go spend $20 and use the free minutes that come with it – if you like it buy more…if not give the phone away and be glad that you are not in a 2 year contract! Get real here…Tracfone gives you more than you pay for.
