Red Pocket Drops T-Mobile Service

Red Pocket has been around for several years and was, aside from Proven Wireless, the only non-Tracfone MVNO which offered service through all four of the main carriers. However, it appears that Red Pocket and T-Mobile have had a bit of a falling out recently and all T-Mobile plans and services have been pulled rather abruptly from Red Pocket’s website. According to Prepaid Phone News, customers of Red Pocket’s T-Mobile service, referred to as GSMT, received email notices recently informing them that they had received a “free upgrade” to AT&T’s service. GSMA SIM cards are in the mail, apparently, and GSMT customers must call Red Pocket’s customer service line at 1-888-993-3888 to activate the new service as soon as they receive the SIM. It is unclear exactly when the GSMT service will be discontinued. Some Howard Forums users have reported their service ended yesterday, while others still report having service. What is abundantly clear is that if you’re on a GSMT plan, you need to transfer ASAP in order to avoid losing any service. While GSMA-specific plans can’t hope to match the low-priced GSMT plans formerly available, customers on the all-device flagship plans shouldn’t have any troubles at all. Red Pocket’s customer service line is totally swamped, and I wasn’t able to get through to get any more information, so if you do need to call them, expect a long hold time. I am a little startled at how rapidly and disorganized this switch seems to be. Red Pocket is a pretty stable MVNO, generally, and it has been around for nearly 10 years. The company only started offering all four carriers last year and has had numerous GSMT-specific deals over the last few months. It is likely that a billing issue of some sort is at the heart of this, but we will likely have to wait for answers. If you’re one of the unlucky GSMT customers, you’ll want to check out your GSMA or flagship options here and be prepared to make the switch.]]>

I can only imagine. If you get any more information, let us know! I’ve had little luck finding out anything definitive.
