pros: cheap to start, excellent sound and reception, tough LG phone with long battery life.cons: button placement is inconvenient for 1-hand operation, rip-off time accounting.I really liked the service until today. all of a sudden my account only had 11 minutes left, down from 150+ yesterday (a big number). yesterday i called 2 regular numbers for a total of 19 minutes. where did the rest go?I called 611 to find out. Unfortunately CSR ‘Lovely’ kept reading scripts in a noisy call center (i could hear her colleagues). so after 5 minutes i had no information and now have only 6 min. left.looking in the handset’s statistics i have a total call time of 3:50:27. with the remaining 6 it is 3:57= 237 minutes. i sent/received ~20 text messages (high estimate). they are 0.5 min/message = 10 minutes, for a total of 247 min. out of 300! 53 missing.i purchased this phone at wal-mart as a promo pac with a free carry case and earphone/microphone. perhaps the missing time is their conniving way of charging a customer for the ‘free’ extras?previously I was considering buying more net10s for different area codes but now i’m done with it 🙁 i’m probably going back to the expensive but proper Cingular.FYI when i first bought the phone the PUK and PUK2 numbers were not included in the package. u have to call tech support to obtain them. default PIN1 is 1234 and PIN2 is 5678. those 2 support calls were nice & quick – no script reading.

Pros: Cheap up front. Easy to use website where you can activate/register your phone. Cons: Rounds up to nearest minute for each call. Lousy coverage (I-55 between Chicago and St. Louis, couldn’t connect). Muffled voices. I can tell they use ATT towers as primary.

I have had net 10 for about 2 months. About 2 weeks after i activated the phone i started receiving calls from starnge numbers and when you answered or called back nobody would talk. I called customer service only to be hung up on by 5 different customer service reps. I was furious. When one lady actually took the time to help me I was told they don’t block numbers and my only options were to ignore it or change my number.

if you are going to port a number to net 10, forget about it. I have called at least 18 times over the past week. I have been put on hold many times for 5 to 8 minutes each time, and the problem still isn’t fixed. phone doesn’t call, and can’t add minutes. no one there seems to know what they are doing. don’t buy this product, save yourself sooo much grief, and get a regular plan at one of the big carriers. you’ll be glad you did.

Nothing but headaches since we received our phones two months ago…can’t get tech support to be able to help with setting up my voicemail..husband’s old phone number was not able to be ported correctly. Spent HOURS on the phone with their so-called tech support to help with issues to no avail. Could not understand many of them and they constantly put me on hold to talk to their supervisor. Each call was at least one hour long with them. I’ve given up and will deal with the issues before I will call tech support again!

I have had net ten since May ’08. I have now gone threw 3 phones and 3 separate sim cards. The customer service can’t activate the phone, can’t get your old number on the phone and can’t speak English. They have no idea what they’re talking about. I have been without service for about 3 mo. of the 7 mo. I’ve been with the company. Thanks net 10. you suck

Worst service ever had. Rarely get a whole sentence out before call is dropped. Also when I make a call, the person I’m calling said another persons name came up on the caller ID. Apparently the person that had my phone number last. I spent 45 minutes with a rep and it still is not fixed. Gave phone away. I need reliable service. No wonder it’s only .10 a minute.

Sure, a prepaid phone is nice, in theory. But since having a Net10 phone, I’ve received dozens and dozens of phone calls from different area codes nationwide that are docking my minutes. These calls are also coming from within the area code that I live and work in. What are the calls I am being charged for? Robo-calls… you have an important message from ‘dish network’ or do you have a home mortgage? It is ridiculous. Minutes and minutes… just wasted. The calls come from id’d numbers and they come from unkonwn numbers. I would not, under any circumstances recommend these phones to anyone. Spend your $30 a month on a phone contract. It’s worth it.

I love net10! I have had like every phone they have made. I have also tried many other prepaid services but they either did not have very good survice or the minutes were too expensive. With net10 I got the best of both worlds. I also mostly text and it is way cheaper with this phone than AT&T to go phones. It dosn’t have any roaming charges which is what kills me with the other prepaids. I’ve had to call customer survice a few times but they have always worked out my problems.

I’m based in the UK and only spend about 30 days a year back in the US. If I use my UK mobile there, I get charged anywhere between $1.50 to $2.50 per minute which means I tend not to use that phone over there. Before I head over there, I top up my Net10 phone with £30 of credit, they give me back my unused minutes, I can call anywhere in the US or Canada for 10c per minute, or back to the UK for 15c per minute and it saves me a fortune. I have found their customer service people to be very good and always polite and helpful and I always get good call quality on the eastern seaboard, primarily DC which is where I spend most of my time. Overall, I wish I had found this service years ago and I wish they would start up in the UK because here, we get ripped off with high call costs and lousy service. For me, this is the greatest invention sinced sliced bread and I cannot praise them highly enough.

All 3 of my teenagers have had Net10 for about 4 years. I have had to call customer service several times for various reasons, once to transfer a phone number and minutes because we upgraded the phone….no problems at all, several times called them because we went past the due date and had to get codes to reactivate the phones, again no problems. I am about to upgrade 2 of their phones to the Motorola W375 with the VGA camera for christmas. I don’t expect there will be any problems for transfering their numbers and minutes. I order all minutes off the website, only once did the transaction not go through but a simple phone call to customer service resolved it very easily. Yes you have to be patient with the foreign operators but that is not an issue. We live outside of town in middle of nowhere and for the most part get great service. I have been extremely happy with Net10 and will continue to use them for my teenagers. My oldest recently switched his service to Boost Mobile and has constant problems with getting service in this area, when he buys a card for minutes at Walmart they charge extra to activate it, it costs him an extra $10 on top of the $75 by going through Walmart. I do not use Net10 myself because of the amount of minutes we use each month but for teenagers or people who do not use alot of minutes it is a fantastic deal and decent phones for affordable prices. I have also bought Net10’s reconditioned phones off the website and it lasted 2 years, for $30 bucks it was a steal.

I am on this web site because I am trying to find another prepaid phone service. I’ve been with Net 10 for about 6 months. The reception is great, the coverage is great, no dropped calls and you can’t beat $79 a month for being able to call all day any day. However, before I went to that plan I could never just buy a phone card and add the minutes myself. They never would ‘take’. So, I would be on the phone with someone who was friendly but from some other country and conversations could be difficult due to that fact. I did the unlimited plan for a couple of months. I tried to update my debit card info online and couldn’t. They charged the wrong card twice. I’ve called. I’ve spoken to 4 people this week, spent about 50 minutes on the phone and have gotten nowhere. This is not worth the trouble for me. I even gave the customer service guy my debit card and said, here, just add 300 minutes. He couldn’t do that because there was a hold on my prepaid phone. It is ridiculous. Now I have a nice $79 phone and nothing to do with it. I guess my toddler will enjoy it.

I bought a phone with 300 minutes at Walmart. I had trouble right at the start with activating it. The guy was barely able to speak english and could not recall the serial numbers to me correctly. He quickly became agitated and RUDE and said mam, you have one more chance. The next day the phone locked up and again a lady in customer service was very RUDE and said they would mail me a new SIM. I took the phone back to Walmart. I would never recommend Net10.

Bought the LG600. The sound quality is awful. We tried twice to get some help and they keep changing the ‘satellite’ it works off of. still, crap sound when I am on a call. The other party sounds great but who ever I am speaking with can’t hear me well. I really dont even want to bother making the third call to get my money back. I might as well chalk it up to 50 bucks down the drain. I am sticking with Virgin Mobile.

I have had a Trac Fone for years and I decided to switch to net 10 because of the cheaper rate. I spent almost $80.00 on a phone & when I got home I tried to activate it & transfer my trac fone phone number. That was two days ago and thats how long I have had no phone service because they deactivated my trac fone but have not ported it to my new one… I am totally pee ooo’d especially after reading some of the reviews here. Looks like I should just go get new service some where else right now instead of being strung along.

I have had Net 10 for several years with no problems until now. I usually refill my phone with minutes on their website with no problems. However, about a week and a half ago, I decided to spend $400.00 and purchase the 4000 minute block to avoid having to refill so often. Also, they were offering a free 1000 minutes with the block. The web transaction went glitchy, came up with error messages, etc. The minutes did not load to my phone, BUT, the $400 certainly was deducted from my checking account. 45 minutes on the phone trying to resolve it netted me a help ticket # and a promise to have it resolved within 24 hours. Several days went by and no new minutes. I then sent an email to them via their website with the purchase receipt number and the help ticket number. Their response was that they were not able to find any evidence that I had made the $400 purchase. So, after sending them a reply, along with 4 attached screen grabs showing their withdrawal from my checking account, the screen from their own website showing that the 4000 minutes was purchased but not delivered, etc., my next step will be to send the evidence via snail mail to someone higher up the food chain at Net 10. Next step after that will be small claims court. Net 10 is a hair away from losing a long time customer.

My wife and I have been with Net10 for 4 years now. We live in NW Georgia and we have excellent reception. We highly recommend this service to everyone. Come on, $30 a month for two phones, try that somewhere else and you won’t even get close. My Dad has been with Verizon for years now, and he told me yesterday that is is fed up with the high prices. He is getting my W375 Motorola and switching to Net10 in a couple of weeks. I just recently bought the LG600 because I like an external screen. No way will we go with a big name carrier again. TOO Costly, so it’s Net10 all the way.

I’ve had Net10 cell service for the last 4-5 years and really liked the prepay option. BUT their customer service is incredibly poor. They will tell you just about anything, promise all sorts of actions and not follow through. Plus, in purchasing a new phone you are unable to transfer your number. No matter what the customer service person says, they WILL NOT transfer your number. I’ve even gone back to the store where I bought the new phone with my stories about their customer service. The clerk called them and was also promised the transfer once I recieved a new SIM card. Well it’s been over a week and no card. I’ve even contacted TracFone and they promised to do something and in more than 2 weeks I’ve heard nothing. I will never buy another product from Net10 or TracFone. And I will never give them a good recommendation.

Net 10 offers great service and prices but you don’t even get some of the good features you’re supposed to get, like internet. Not only that, even on the browser, you may have 5 bars and the phone will say: ‘connection failed’ The service charges more minutes than it is supposed to. So when you buy a ringtone, ADD 10 MINUTES TO THE PRICE! The ringtones don’t even play as long as other mobile services like AT&T or Alltel. The ringtones are not worth the price. So if you want ringtones worth the price, get a net10 phone with Bluetooth like LG LG600G. So, the phone is okay to me, I guess.

Customer service was extremely helpful.I don’t talk on the phone a lot, so this is really a good plan for me. I only need to get a $30 card every 2 months to keep my minutes going. This is not a good plan for people who use their phones often. It gives me the features I need, and I’ve had no coverage problems anywhere that any other service provider hasn’t also had problems.I’m very happy with it.

I have had Net10 for almost 6 months and have had no problems. I bought the LG200C and am very happy with it for a basic phone (battery life and features). I live in the middle of no where and only use my cell when I go to town. I was fed up of paying for minutes on a contract I wasn’t using. I have only had cause to call customer service a couple of times, but they were prompt and courteous.I like Net10 because their pricing system is basic and works out about the same per minute as contract plans (despite the lack of free night and weekend minutes). I would recommend Net 10 as a cheap and good alternative to contract plans, especially if you don’t use your phone much.

Net10 is really good only if you talk a lot. $30 for 300 minutes/2 months. That’s a great deal for the minutes. But I don’t talk a lot. I use about 20 minutes a month, so having a ton of minutes is pointless to me. Since I talk so little, what really matters to me is the service end date, and Net10’s service end date is too short and isn’t worth it. Net10 should offer better end dates.

Beware: If you want to update your phone and have the number, minutes, and days transfered to the new phone. It doesn’t happen automatically. They did transfer my phone number, but I had to call them two times to get the minutes and days transfered. Then, get this, they transfer the minutes, but told me it would take 15 minutes for the days to transfer. Tried again an hour later, and was told it would take 3 or 4 hours for the days to transfer. Tried again the next day and was told they would give me 30 more days (my old phone had 23 or 26 days left, can’t remember), so thinking they were going to give me a little extra, I said ok. Then when I turned my phone off and back on again as instructed, they had added only 20 days. But, they said my days would not expire for another 3 days after what was showing on my phone. At that point I gave up and hung up. What’s three days anyway?? All this just to say, be sure you write down all the days and minutes you have coming, or you probably won’t ever see them again. They took them off my old phone, so I had no record. Good going Net10, will know better next time.

ZERO STARS: Awful Customer Service: BUYER BEWARE – Our original phone was stolen in June. We reported the loss the same day. We were told that when we bought a new phone, the remaining minutes would be transfered. Now, in August ’08 we tried to transfer the minutes from the stolen phone to the newly purchased phone – Net10 doesn’t have any records of the old phone – they refuse to transfer the minutes. The company’s ‘terms and conditions’ do not mention any such language. Convenient. They have stolen the money that was spent for minutes on the old phone. We will never do business with them again.

I have had service for over 6 months, not a single issue. The customer service is indeed retarded but you only have to deal with that once when you set up voicemail. Adding minutes is simple & flawless online or by prepaid cards that are availiable anywhere. The coverage is excellent as I have never had a single dropped call or even low reception bars.(Ca) There sure are alot of negative reviews here, but if you use less than 150 minutes a month you will not find a cheaper or better provider. I say get rid of your other ripoff plan and go Net10 and get ready to save some serious cash.

I don’t want to ever give 5 stars since I haven’t needed to call customer service and don’t know what that would be like, but so far I have found this phone to be fine for my needs. It was easy to activate and later add minutes from a card purchased at Target. The add minutes cards are sold at many stores which is convenient. It was easy to figure out regarding adding contacts. I like that I can pull up a number on the cheap non-flip open Nokia model and it stays up on the screen to call throughout the night (I live in the country and get a bit nervous at night sometimes so I have it set on police). The battery lasts a long time without recharge! I don’t make many calls but have it turned on fairly often. On the other hand, after now having the phone a few months though, I am receiving private calls which, when answered, deliver a series of beeps and take off a minute each time I answer obviously. I have received two or three private or no number calls within a few minutes time. One I received last night at 11:30pm. We’ll see what happens with this… I may call customer service and then all could go down hill?

Net10 advertises 10 cents per minute ALWAYS, no extra fees EVER… until they decide to start charging extra fees. I found that they add 1.5% for E911 fee. When I called about this EXTRA FEE I was told several different things. First I was told it was a tax that my state charges. That’s not true, the state just mandates that Net10 pay them, but they don’t say that Net10 has to collect it from us. That’s like saying we have to pay their income tax! Then they told me it was only $0.10, which is a lie. The cheapest card I can buy has a fee of $0.45. Then they told me that it was only collected in states where it is mandated. I found a web page that says that Virginia does not have this tax on prepaid wireless phones, and yet Net10 is still collecting the fee from me. I admit that this is not a big charge. But they made a deal with me when I bought the phone that there would be NO FEES! READ MY LIPS…

I have had Net 10 service for about a year. Although the service is ok I dislike not having good monthly plans that include nights and weekends. Also Net 10 does not have very good phones to choose from.

My son gave me his Net 10 phone when he decided to get a different phone. I live in an different part of the country from him. I bought minutes to reactivate the phone; customer serive said I needed a new SIM card. It came 4 days later. I replaced the card, went online and set up an account to reactivate. I entered my zip code, but it gave me a number in the neighboring state, which means a different area code and a long distance call from a landline phone. I call CS to request they redo the number, and it still came from the same area code. They tell me they have no control over this. So now if anyone calls me from their landline phone they incur long distance charges. What a crock. I will use up the minutes I have and toss the phone in the garbage.

Net10 is an excellent phone service. I was a verizon wireless customer for 7 years before I switched to Net10 about 3 months back. I wish I had known about Net10 prepaid service earlier, I would’nt have wasted $50 every month on Verizon for the 400 anytime minutes plan and the 2 yr contracts. With Net10 I save lot of money (it cost me only $15 per month for 150 anytime mins). I make my lengthy calls from the Comcast landline IP phone which is free 24/7 within US/Canada.Net10 call quality is excellent, its better than Verizon. Its coverage is also better. Customer service is top rate. They are very polite as opposed to some snooty customer reps I dealt with in Verizon wirless. Best of all I am not locked in a 2 yr service agreement. After I switched to Net10, about 5-6 friends of mine also dumped their Verizon/Sprint wireless and switched to Net10. I love Net100 service quality, pricing, reliability and customer service. I would give them 7 stars if it were possible.

5 stars SO FAR; bought at Dollar General in central Texas for $25 w/300 minutes, in other words free Nokia plus $5 instant rebate! Went home to put it on charger long enough to activate before sending Wife to northern N.H. for birth of 17th grandchild (not mine, both of us widowed and just married 5 years). (We normally drive up but gas made it impossible this year.) Followed online instructions, but wouldn’t activate. Called customer service and GUESS WHAT! Got accented rep who spoke VERY GOOD English, walked me through endless list of codes to enter and PHONE WORKS. Bought because our Go-Phone coverage map looked very marginal at best where she was going, but Net10, using any available system looked good. GUESS WHAT! PHONE WORKS! And just as expected, ATT Go Phone doesn’t. So far, so good. But here at home will be about 50-50 usage depending on who we call.

I agree with other–Zero Star!! Terrible customer service. All they do is repeat what you say and you never seem to get anywhere until you get so frustrated you want to curse!! I had enrolled in the auto-pay and they deducted money but didn’t add the minutes. I had to call ‘customer service’ and went round and round with them for probably an hour. They didn’t deduct money last month so now I’m looking elsewhere. I wouldn’t consider using them again!

Very misleading product description. Deceptive business practices. CANNOT DOWNLOAD RINGTONES, They say use your browser, right costs you about 10-18 minutes to download a single ringtone. Third party ringtone providers are blocked. Net10 disabled alot of very good attributes of this phone. Motorola should be ashamed for allowing NET10 to tarnish their good name. Worth a lawsuit for false advertising due to deceptive business practices.

There was no ‘zero stars’ on the rating. My daughter’s phone broke the 1st week of July. She was told by net10 they’d send her a new battery in 3-5 days. 2 weeks. Nothing. I started calling the 11th of July. They said they’d send a new phone on 7/29. She finally got a phone this week. STILL DOESN’T WORK! Now, they are supposed to send her a SIM card. WE HAVE BEEN WAITING A FULL MONTH. Half the time the people we speak to don’t speak English well. I am thoroughly disgusted. She has used net10 for 2 yrs with no problems. But now we’re both fed up. Phone was under warranty! Now, we just want her money back. She’s 14, and spent her own hard earned money ($80. + tax) for a phone that hasn’t worked in a month. I wouldn’t recommend these jerks to anyone!! BUYER BEWARE!

great idea but extremely poor execution.First let me warn you that the ‘customer service’ consists of foreign country operators which most of the time you can not understand (but extremely polite)I tried to move my current cell number to their phone, after 2 weeks the service to my cell phone was disconnected and when i call net10 was told that would take up to 30 days for my net10 phone to start working with my old number, which was of course unacceptable, i cancel the whole thing and went back to my ENGLISH SPEAKING ATT&T provider. If you buy the phone at wal-malt for $30 with 300 free minutes and are able to activate it without any problems, use the minutes and be happy.

I bought a NET10 Motorola W375 phone with 300 minutes built-in. The W375 has camera phone, MP3 ringtones, FM Radio and is a good looking flip phone.Part of the review is because of what NET10 does with their better phones and part is their actual service.1st the battery life is no where near the 7.5 hours talk time they rate it at. Good luck if you make it to 2 hours of talk time. Even if you don’t use it, you’ll need to recharge it every day.2nd NET10 disables most all of the advanced features on all their phones. The camera phone and multimedia features are not usable because the USB port is disabled. Also they modify the iMelody maker from Motorola (in the phone) to wherre it’s virtuslly unusable. The Motorola people can’t help you much as NET10 has changed the functionality of this app considerably. You’ll even have to get special drivers just to charge the phone from your USB port! Also the internet capability and downlownloadable ringtones and graphics are a complete joke! The only internet is what NET10 gives and that’s almost nothing. Each MP3 you get will cost you 29 minutes of airtime plus the time it takes them to download. A real rip off! You can’t get them elsewhere because NET10 locks you out of other sites and methods. I downloaded 4 of them from NET10 and when I got them, 3 of the 4 were not even the ones ordered. So I wasted 120minutes plus airtime. You also can’t even participate in the sites that use MMS to text voting or such as NET10 restricts that too! They even warn you in their agreement that they will terminate your service if you try to use these sites. Again NET10 wants to keep you buying everything only from them then doesn’t provide those services. My W375 Motorola phone might as well have been one of their cheapy brick phones since all the advanced phone features are disabled. It’s only good for use as a voice phone. I notice this is something recent with NET10 as 1yr old reviews state they are using the features. At least the W375 does have good volume and feels good to hold and looks good. So if you are going to get NET10, don’t waste your money on their feature-rich phones. They won’t be able to use those features. Just get the simpler phones. If you want features, stay away from NET10!The service itself seems to be good in most of the Mesa Arizona areas I’ve been in. I don’t go into roaming ever so am not really qualified to discuss how well that works. The pricing plan is certainly the simplest and cheapest of any of the pre-paids I looked at. There’s no surprises there at all. Also you won’t find many real promo codes online like with Tracfone. Net10’s prices are good but not many choices to get them better except by adding very large minute packages. The pricing is the only reason it got 2 stars in my rating.Ordering from the web site is a bit clunky and prone to errors. They really need to revamp the site as it’s not very good for ordering from and since customer service is not very good, getting these problems fixed can be a nightmare. Next, the email customer service is polite but useless. They will say ‘Thankyou for choosing us’ a lot but rarely actually answer your questions. I’ve only called the phone service once and found that so totally frustrating that I bailed out before getting the problem resolved. If you are looking for VERY basic service at a good price, NET10 is for you. If you want any extras, don’t bother with NET10.

I recently bought a net 10 phone & tried it out for a while in the SW PA region. I do alot of driving on my job, so I was able to ‘test’ a large area in a very short time. The signal was very comparable to that of my Verizon phone, and even better in many locations. I liked it enough that we my wife and I are getting rid of our Verizon phones. The only disadvantage with Net 10 is that the phones are older without many of the features which I have gotten used to, but this is quickly overlooked when I think about the fact that we will be saving over $50 per month! Plus, many of the phones pay for themselves (thirty dollar phones which come with 300 minutes, as much as a 300 minute card costs)! As for all of the negative comments below, I don’t understand why so many people needed to call customer service in the first place. The directions provided with the phone for activation and troubleshooting are extremely simple.I strongly recommend Net 10.

Stay away from Net10 if you need a mobile phone. Tech support eventually ends up handing you off to TracFone so without even trying Trac I would have to say stay away from them as well. Easily to most frustrating experience I have had with any phone service. Ported a phone number to Net10. Phone started ringing 4 days later. Could not activate the phone to use it. Tech support said wait until this afternoon, then wait until tomorrow, then wait until the 24th…3 more days. Meanwhile everyone who calls gets ‘The wireless subscriber cannot be reached’. Porting numbers and activating mobile phones isn’t this hard, I owned a Cellular One store. We now build and install IP PBX’s and phone systems. Net10 is less than par with the worst ILEC. Try Virgin or Go.

Great coverage and decent customer service! Hey folks, you are getting a low cost phone with low cost .10 per minute service and yes sub standard customer service. If you want a billion dollar company and premium customer service then pay for att or nextel. I need an easy to use, easy to recharge, low cost phone and I found it with NET10. Customer service has always helped me and solved my issues within minutes. I called them prior to buying the phone and asked them which phone worked best and had the least problems…. they actually told me which ones to stay away from. I am completely satisfied with my low cost high coverage service. Those of you that are complaining about net10, I wonder why you are trying net10 if your other carriers were so great.

I like my Net10 phone. It’s all very straight forward, 10 cents a minute with 5 cent text messaging. There is a limited selection of phones available, and Net10 doesn’t offer wireless internet. The phone is very standard, but I pay considerably less (about 60 percent less) than I did on my AT&T bill. So if you are willing to compromise on your phone’s capabilities, in order to save money, then I would definately reccommend Net10.

I think net10 is great. I have had most of the big name post-paid plans, and I have found net10 to be the best. I currently spend about $18.00 a month (that’s cheap). I have traveled from Orlando to Boston, and I have had excellent coverage. This coverage includes the back woods and not just the highways as with sprint based pre-paid plans. If you are a motor mouth, I would not recomend net10. Ten minutes tends to add up if you are not careful. In response to customer service complaints, I have not had any problems. I have called customer service a few times and I have found them to be quite helpful. They do have issues with an accent, but so do alot of major companies in the USA. In my opinion I find Net10 better than MOST companies, sure customer service is a drag..but all in all they aren’t very bad..its going to vary from person to person..For people who complained about not recieving minutes; they have support links on there site for this, stop complaining and keep calling, remain nice and calm on the phone and if you have to ask for free minutes for your inconvience, I once got 20 free minutes just for asking. as far as coverage goes, you can only get good coverage where ever AT&T can. If AT&T doesn’t work for you out where you live; neither will Net10.Net10’s Easy Minutes plans are simple and if you don’t recieve your minutes, you CAN get them by READING THE DIRECTIONS ON THE PAGE and taking action. It says if you don’t recieve your minutes to manually input them through your ‘My Account’ page or to contact customer service.I’ve owned my phone for 1 year now, and the only problem I’ve ever had was one time when I tried to lock my keypad and I was deducted 0.5 units, I sent an e-mail later and within the next 24 hours I had gotten my units back plus 20 more.I would highly suggest to anyone who doesn’t talk a lot to try out Net10. If you didn’t like Tracfone, I know you’ll like Net10 at least. Let’s face it; 1000 minutes for $100? that’s a great deal as opposed to Tracfone’s 400 minutes for $100.

the service and reliability is ok but the fact that the phone turns itself off every evening at 6 P.M. is no picnic. I know it is a power saving feature but there is no way to change that setting on the phone and when I let family members borrow the phone, they think that I havent paid the bill and the phone is disconnected. The thing that I am really angry about is that every time that I add 60 days of service with a three hundred minute card the company takes away two or three service days from the end of my end service date. I have had the same phone & number for three years and they still keep doing this to me. I purposly bought the phone on the fifth day of the month because I do not get my social security check until the third of the month and I wanted to be sure that my money is in the bank each month before the due date. I also wanted the due date to be the same each time, i.e — 5th of every other month and just buy the 60 day service cards.Customer service has been less than helpful. The last time I talked to them about this they just kept on telling me how some months have 30 days and some months have less days and that is why they keep taking away days from my service. I was getting nowhere in my mission to get my due date re-established to the 5th day of every other month so I just asked the service rep to please make sure that they do not take away more days and make my due date the last week of the month. Well, here we go again. My due date was 07/01/08 so I added another 60 day 300 minute card that day. They have now stolen more days from my service, as my new due date is 08/28/08 rather than 09/01/08 as it should be or 09/05/08, in order to be in accordance with the actual date that I bought & activated the phone. I think someone within the company is skimming service days from me and other customers in order to add them to their and their friends cell phone services so that they get free service on our dime, no pun intended. If I am not able to resolve the problem when I call the non-english speakers this time, then I will call the Federal Communications Commision and report the illegal activity. Perhaps a call to them, from this regulatory agency, will help them adjust my service due date to coincide with the first week of the month when I get my tiny social security check, just the way I had planned it all along.

Net10 is good if you don’t have to deal with customer service. They barely speak english and they run you around and around. They tell you to call back then you have to repeat the whole story again. They delivered me the wrong phone and had to deal witrh them for a month before they reissuded the phone. They even wanted ME to pay to ship it back!! URGGGG They are brainless. Then I couldn’t download ringtones they kept telling me I can get them in 10 min..in 20 min..in 30 min..in 1 hour…every call was a different time. I never did get a ringtone.

Seems like any other company–if everything works the way it is supposed to, it is great. BUT, if you have any type of problem WATCH OUT.My phone stopped working after only having it for 2 months. After 1 hour on the phone they decided to ship me a new battery (which took a week to get here). The new battery didn’t work either. After another hour on the phone they decided to send me a replacement phone (which only took 3 days because I threw a fit). Then, it took me 2 phonecalls and 1 1/2 hours to get the phone number transferred from the old phone to the new phone and another 75 minutes to get the minutes transferred over (tell me, how hard is it to add minutes to an account?).The customer service is SLOW and seems completely incompetent if you have any REAL issues. And, the process the Customer Service agents use to get to any account information is ARDUOUS (which I believe is the company’s fault)! The agents were polite but hard to understand–probably the nicest hard to understand incompetent people I have ever talked to.I haven’t had any problems with making and receiving calls when my phone is actually working. Hopefully all my technical problems are solved and I can have a 5 star experience from here on out.

I bought my phone from K-mart, and got 300 minutes with the phone. I only paid $30. This is great for me, because I will only be back in the USA visiting family for 3 weeks. At first, the phone activated (I used the internet) but still wouldn’t would to call local numbers. I was losing minutes trying, too. I called their service, which was open, and the voicemail said to call back during business hours (Grrr). I tried the next morning, and went through the menus OK, and was on the phone with a tech person from Cebu, Phillipines within a minute. She was very helpful, spoke near-native English, and had my problem fixed in about 8 minutes. She had me enter several long codes and read the results back to her. She also had me make a test call to a local number, which then worked, and she then called my phone to make sure it received calls. She credited me for the lost minutes after I asked, and I received verification in my phone within minutes. I am satisfied with the service (wish they had longer business hours — seeing as the tech support is in the Phils. anyway) but a little miffed that getting this phone to work wasn’t so easy that I could do it myself. So I took away 1 star. We’ll see how the rest goes!I had a trackphone last year, and it was good, but I lost it. Net10 seems to be cheaper for me.

I have purchased 3, first a NOKIA cheap refurbished online for me, with gray screen, BECAUSE IT IS THE ONLY CELL PHONE I HAVE SEEN THAT YOU CAN READ IN THE BRIGHT SUNLIGHT! Because I need that capability, I went with Net 10. All of the negative and positive reviews are true. Say whut? How can that be? Poor Quality Assurance over customer service. I also bought a flip phone model for my wife, and a simple Wal-Mart cheap candy bar model for church. Why? Simple economical plan that is easy to budget and no hidden BS fees. BUT I have learned the hard way about customer service, and now do this: I STRONGLY suggest that you do it this way: Buy your phone at Wal-Mart or Radio Shack and have them set it up and activate it before you leave the store. NEVER try to add minutes via the internet, NEVER NEVER NEVER. Buy a new phone card at Wal-Mart, follow the simple instructions, and within 2-3 minutes your months and minutes are added to your screen. No hassle. At least not on the last two phones I bought that way. I played the simm card roulette game for a while when I tried to port my old cell phone number (FORGET ABOUT IT). I also played the stupid games when trying to buy time on the internet. But coverage is the best I’ve had compared to three previous contract providers, and much, much less costly.

I’ve had net10 for over a year and have been very satisfied. Although I wish they had a unlimited min plan, I picked them and continue to use them for various reasons. When I first purchased the phone, it came with free minutes and I basically got the Nokia phone for free. My phone has very good reception and I’ve never had a call dropped. It holds a charge for up to 3-5 days. My service end date is now the end of 2010 and it’s only 2008 now. Customer service has been above average and I never have trouble adding minutes. It’s easy to use and there’s no hidden charges or daily access rates and I’m only charged if the call is connected. Also, I like the 1/2 minute denominations-i.e.,299.5 min. Long distance calls sound exactly the same and costs the same as local calls. Adding minutes are easy you just go to the pre-paid menu and punch in your pin # on your receipt and by the time you return back to the home screen the additional minutes are there. It’s great and you don’t have all the headaches like the other companies. The only drawback is if you talk alot-lot, then it can start costing. I get 600 min per month which costs me $60+tax. It would be nice if they had free minutes when you call other net 10 customers or free weekends…. All in all, I’m very satisfied and there’s no bad suprises. I get exactly what I paid for.

Took the phone across country and had decent reception, better than Sprint when I had them. The phone was easy to set up and customer service was pretty prompt. The best part was 10 cents a minute and no additional daily fees. No answer and you are not charged, you cannot beat that for a prepaid plan. I no longer use but I still recomend quite often. Also if you keep your old phone you can get Net 10 back anytime by just buying new minutes, yes you will get a new number but you have cell phone service in a pinch.

They lie on their website. Their comparison chart claims that one must spend $250 before being able to get 10cent/minute airtime with T-Mobile. That is a lie. Any T-Mobile prepaid customer can get 10cent/minute with any $100 card purchased. Net10 also has inaccurate information about AT&T and Verizon on their comparison chart. Since we know that they are not above lying, we know that Net10 cannot be trusted.

The price is hard to beat, especially if a full-blown monthly plan is more than you need. But I have to question if the savings is worth the trouble of dropped calls, poor coverage area and deplorable customer service. But most of all I am completely disgusted that Net10 disabled the ‘connect to PC’ feature on the Motorola W375 before they sent it to me, disabling the ability to download photos to my PC or upload my own ringtones. What good is a camera phone without the ability to download the photos? I carefully read everything before purchasing this phone with Net10 and nowhere did it state this. It is obviously a ploy to force you to use your minutes to purchase their ringtones, and believe me, you will go through minutes to get these things — you get charged minutes to access to web browser, then have to slowly surf through a poorly indexed list of options and menus (using still more minutes). Then when you find what you want, you need to purchase it using still more minutes. It is not unusual to burn up 50 or more minutes trying to download one wallpaper or ringtone. Just as disappointing is the customer service. Every time I called (3-4 times) I ended up with a rep that I could barely understand because their English was so poor. Not to mention, they knew less about the phone and my problem than I did. They offered little in the way of actual assistance, just kept repeating the things I was saying. In no case did my calls to customer service yield a solution, rather I muddled through them on my own and found solutions via Google. Would NOT recommend — in this case, you get what you pay for!

The Nokia 1600 is a competent basic phone. It was obtained at Wal-Mart for $30 with 300 minutes of air-time using the Net-10 cell phone system, which at 10 cents a minute, made the phone free. I had no other phone to easily access during the trip to the U.S.The quality of the sound was surprisingly good. The sound was a little on the base end of the spectrum but much better than expected for a free phone. The 1 – 4, 2 – 5, 3 – 6 …. buttons are on rockers so you must be carefully to press them nearer to the edges rather than in the middle or you may dial incorrectly. The buttons are not recessed, or covered in any way, and I did not lock the phone, so the buttons continuously got pressed in my pants pocket any time I bent over, or leaned against anything.I nearly ran the 300 minutes out in a week and purchased a recharge card at Wal-Mart. I loaded the card, and it immediately came up with the added minutes, and added 6 months to my current expiration date, which was still 7 weeks in the future. I like how it adds to the existing service end date instead of making a new one based on when the minutes were added.Adding contact names and phone numbers was easy, and I found the menus fairly straight forward without having to open the instruction book. I did open the instruction book to find the overseas dialing number, that I also added as a contact name.I traveled from Rockville Maryland to Charlottesville Virginia, and had a good signal and the same sound quality over the entire area.I selected the Net-10 network because they claimed it was 10 cents a minute with “NO EVIL” and because there were a lot of countries you could call for 15 cents a minute. To activate the capability to call overseas, I had to locate a computer and go on the internet. The website said to wait for a text message (up to 3 days) that informed me that the service had been turned on for my phone. I waited and never received the message. I called their help number and with difficulty understanding the operators English with a heavy accent, was told that the service had been turned on for my phone, and that I should call from a land line in the future incase they need to diagnose my phone. Great if you have a land line, but the purpose of this phone was to give me a phone to start with. After this I tried dialing overseas. You have to dial their special overseas number, then select English or Spanish, then the message tells you to dial 011 country code, and phone number. Probably 80% of the attempts to call overseas succeeded, and the sound quality was just as good as local calls.Another problem I experienced is I tried to order a different phone from Net-10 from overseas, and have it delivered to an address in the states. The website would not accept credit cards that do not have a billing address in the states, even if they are a U.S. Credit card company. This is unfriendly to your military or families living overseas. I then tried my dads credit card, with his permission twice, and it would not accept it either. It did however go to both his and my credit cards and block out the value of two phones for over a week. Fortunately they did not ship the 4 phones. Overall, the phone and system work pretty well, and in the two weeks I used the phone, it did a pretty good job. I was not looking for anything fancy such as picture or web capability, I simply needed to contact business people and my wife overseas, and for that it worked fine.I like knowing that it would cost me 10 cents or 15 cents a minute without haveing to check the time of day before dialing. In Hong Kong I have a cell phone that allows me to call the states for 3 cents a minute with no calling plans or additinal fees. Net 10 is the closest thing to my overseas phone. The U.S. is starting to get a clue on how to run good cheep cell phone systems, but they still need to drop the price, and improve the tech support. Give them another 10 years and they might get it right.

I carefully researched all possible prepaid cell phone companies and ended up deciding for Net10. Look, it’s 10 cents per minute without any other charges – there is no money for good costumer service. I travel a lot around the US and true, the service is adverse at times, therfore Net10 is best only for those who don’t live in rural areas where not many Sprint antenas a built (Net10 rents Sprint antenas for reception). If you live in a city, you are pretty much covered. I would also encourage you to buy the mintues from ebay, rather than from the Net10 side, since very little is invested into Net10 website or their billing system, so it’s risky. It’s ain’t the best, but if your concern is $, then Net10 is the best.

I am very pleased with my net 10 phone. I have had net 10 service for almost one year, and I have never had a dropped call. If you top-up every 30 days, you minutes roll over. My reception is as good or even better than when I had a post pay plan. I also think that the customer service is great. They Repeat your question and then they actually take the time to give you an answer. The only negative is that if you are a heavy minute user, you can get more minutes cheaper from the post paid plans. That said ‘happy talking’

Customer Service is ok not great. Great bargain. Great coverage. Web site not great. My complaint is is collection agencies looking for previous owners of the phone number. After 6 months they are still calling me. I now only answer calls from numbers I recognize.
