We have been having trouble with leaving our home town and then we go into a different state and it says for emergency use only. You are suppose to be able to use them anywhere anytime. We never had a problem till we got updated phones. The older phones did not do that.

Can we rate in minus stars??? Anyway, 3 sim cards and two phones later I still have a non working phone and over $200 dollars in charges on my visa. This company is a fraud and I would erge all of you to stay as far away from Net10 as possible!! Two tin cans and some sting would be a better idea!

My Alltel gets no bars in my house. Works sometimes, but cuts out. My Net10 gets 4 to 5 bars, and even works in the basement !!. When my 2-yr. term is up with Alltel, they’re gone !

It is what it is. Nothing hidden. 10 cents straight minutes. The only thing that is a draw back is that it cannot access the web. Ease of use on the phone. I got a Motorola V175 phone. Since I am not of the generation of the need to be on the phone, it suits my purposes.

I have used trac-fone for a few years and it was okay but didn’t have an unlimited plan. I bought the Net 10 service 3 months ago and just now enrolled in the unlimited plan. With tax it came to a little over $86.00 So far so good. My past experience is that when things are working well these services are okay but when things go badly it really gets frustrating. It”s usually easier to just throw the phone away and start over than to deal with the customer service. If this really turns out to be an unlimited plan and I can renew it each month, without problems, I will be happy. To this point I would offer a recommendation.I will be the first to complain when things go badly.

I just recently ended with at&t contract and transferred my number to net10. Transfering the number was sooo easy.On the internet, I entered all the information and numbers from my at&t acc, and in the morning I found my at&t phone searching network. I put the sim card into new phone, couple procedures and I got my number here. Now is the bad part:I bought a cheap phone LG300. It’s looked just what I need – not a gaming console, not a camera or a computer, jus a phone, for calls and messaging. The problem is, that when I call or somebody else calls me, they hear their own voice echoeing many times. And that’s from all networks – t-mobile,sprint and at&t. I can hear them clear. So I guess I’ll need a new phone, because I don’t want to waist an hour or so, talking to the customer service and then send the old phone, paying out of pocket for shipping. Not worth that.

I have read all of the reviews here and from what I can tell, I must be one of the lucky ones! Maybe I should knock on wood because I have been using Net Ten’s phones for years and I love them! I do understand about their customer service being pretty poor though. I let my phone’s minutes and time expire for several weeks and when I had to reactivate it they couldn’t do it claiming that the SIM card I had in it wouldn’t work in my area. I told the man that I have used the same phone and SIM card in the same exact area for years and when I asked why it doesn’t work here anymore, he didn’t have an answer for me. They ended up having to send me a new SIM card and said it would take up to 7 days to get to me. It got to me in 5 by Fed Ex. It only took about 10 minutes on the phone with them and I have my phone up and running again! It’s reliable where I live in the mountains and affordable for me, because I don’t have to pay more than .10 per minute. I also bought both my Sons a Net Ten several years ago and the phones worked out great for them. I started out with different pre paid phones before I purchased my Net Tens’, and I was very disappointed with them….I will stick to my Net Ten and keep enjoying the money that I save not having to pay costly monthly phone bills! I just wish the ring tones and such didn’t cost so much!

I bought a new NET10 LG1500 a short bit back to use as a ‘private line’ that certain friends could call me anytime on, esp. when I shut the AT&T one I have as my main line off. I was using Cincinnati Bell’s iWireless GSM esrvice (yes, they also have an iWireless service sold at Kroger’s and uses Sprint’s PCS network which sux), but they charge 35 cents a minute daytime and 10 cents at night. Incoming texts are free, outgoing is 15 cents. Problem was that once you left the Cincy/Dayton area, you roam (free) and cannot access #BAL or any wireless net services. Calls and Texts only. I went to the website to activate the phone and port the number. Got a case number, as porting can take a spell. This was at 3AM on a Thursday. At 7PM that day, the Cincy Bell phone quit and read ‘Unregistered SIM’. I got home, turned on the LG from Net10 and it didn’t work right away. I went to the website and logged in and found that it was ready to be ported, but I had to call the 800 number. I did. Her english was not the best, but we made do ok. Gave her all the info and in 15 minutes it was done. Downloaded some ringtones and a couple of pix from the site without trouble. Got a 300 minute card at WalMart, went to pickup, typed it into the phone and 300 more minutes as well as new date 60 days from old expiration date. So far, it has been great. Now if they just had better CSRs that were more fluent in english….. Be well!

Do not buy a phone from this company. Since activating the phone in Dec 2008: it required ‘exception’ action to get the phone to load the 1000 minutes; the minute deduction and phone number systems run separately; the SIM card had to be replaced in January and the system will not recognize the phone; the battery will not hold a charge; and I’ve been told that that phone number which worked for 45 days on Net10 does not exist, even though I have minutes to last through August 2009, nor does the serial number for my phone. The email form results in a request to call the 1-800#, at which time the dance starts again. And I paid for the ringtone, Bluetooth, web-enabled phone. So now I’m out lots of money with a phone that doesn’t work, minutes I can’t use and a non-responsive company.

If I could go below 1 star, I would. I am going to write a detailed review here – but in short:- it took them 7 weeks to port a number… during which time my original phone was shut off (the number was released by my previous provider in under 2 days)- 5 phones calls to CSRS who knew nothing, and simply read off a script.- 17 emails.I agree with sooo many of the frustrations expressed in the other emails here, and wish I’d never had anythign to do with this sad sad company. Enought said ?

All cell phone providers rip you off. You don’t get the amount of minutes shown on a card. A 1 minute and 1 second phone call deducts 2 minutes. So you end up paying for a full minute that you didn’t even use. Does anyone know of a provider that works differently?

I bought a new Net 10 phone to up grade to a nicer phone. I had my old minutes transfered to my new phone, great only problem is my new phone is not actived after 20 hours. All I get is the run around with these people. Hey they got what they pay for right. Now I have two phones that are worthless. I can only hope I dont miss to many important calls, but they dont care!! Not a happy camper.

The only reason I am giving Net10 a 1-star rating is because they don’t have a zero rating to choose. I have never had so much trouble with anything in my life. I am now on my 3rd phone in 2 months and am still having problems. I have also had to have my phone number changed once. I cannot tell you how many hours I have been on the phone with customer service, and no one seems to be able to figure out what’s wrong. I think I have spoken with every customer service rep there is, and even one supervisor. I will be so glad when my minutes are gone so I can move on to another company. I will never, ever use Net10 again and would never recommend anyone else use it…not if you want to keep your sanity. I have nearly lost mine!

Net 10 is the best prepaid service i have found period.I have the motorola w375 and i love it.I never lose a call and i always have a strong signal even in stores. The only drawback is offshore tech support. But i get around that i use the website to purchase my minutes and also you can browse online via ie or mozilla and get your ringtones and graphics.Saves on minutes that way and you can also mms your self wallpaper and gif screensavers also midi ringtones. They delete mp3 ringtones in mms message so dont try it.But overall its a great service and afordable if your not a person that lives on the phone.Remeber i see alot of complaints about battery life but remeber net 10 bounces off other towers thus your phone stays in high power mode this is so you can have the best signal at all times. So i dont mind recharching every 2 days to get a signal and no drop calls.I plan on upgrading to the lg 600 later with blue tooth i am told you can link you computer to that phone and do your own tones.Via the bluetooth you just need a blue tooth dongle on your pc.I would definately recomend this service but keep all your deals on the website and stay away from tech support in india.Buy minutes and downloads from the site not your phone and you will dave alot of your minutes. Also they disable usb support in this phone witch i understand they want to make money on your downloads.Ringtones cost 30 min= 3.00 but you better figure 35 minutes total 5 minutes is the download 2.5 minutes for each minute downloading.Wallpaer Screensavers 20 mutes 2.00 or 25 total of your phone. If you use website if you use mobile web it can run ungodly cause you have to browse for what you want 1 ringtone that way costed me a 100 minutes so use the website via pc to save your minutes.I have used net 10 for over a year and i hope i can stay i have explained the best way to save your minutes also if you call tech support call from a landline it will be along call.

I bought 2 phones direct from net 10. One shipped with the wrong battery (they sent a motorola battery with an lg phone). The other phone activated but did not have the 300 minutes. I called on the cel (it let me call net10 with no minutes). They added the time but deducted the time used to call about the problem. So I call to complain about that. The person was quite rude and put me on hold forever. While on hold, the phone just died. I looked it over closely and realized that there was a crack in the side of the phone. I now have 2 useless phones.

Trying to port my T-Mobile phone number in failed. The site barfed and ate my money and didn’t give me my minutes, just webserver diagnostic output. Trying to move service from my broken Net10 Nokia 1600 to a new, identical Net10 Nokia 1600 failed with a non-sense error message (phone number is wrong, but you don’t ever input it; it has it on file, shows it to you, and it’s correct, but insists its wrong). Customer service, whether by phone or email, reads the exact same script to you every time. These goons literally cannot transfer service from one phone to another. I’ve been on the case for three days for about 3-4 hours a day now. Every review is either love or hate. I loved these guys too until I got stuck here. The bottom line is it’s absolutely the most ghetto service you can get. Everything has a strict no refunds policy. You get 300 minutes when you buy a new phone — but not really. Don’t count on it. If you buy minutes and don’t get them, sorry, too bad. If they make a mistake and you lose your phone number, oops, too bad. You run out of minutes or service period, your number is recycled the same day. The only way to use this service and not be disappointed as is a disposable phone. When it breaks, throw it away, get a new one, and activate it with a new number.

We bought a Net10 phone back in Feb. As far as using it in the US it is great. We signed up for the International Service and the International neighbors. We have had nothing but trouble. We keep losing the numbers and nobody can tell us why. I was on and off hold one Sat at a friends house as we don’t have a land line. The customer service rep said the problem would be fixed on Monday and if not I could call him, he gave me his ID number and said he was in Miami, needless to say he never called back and when I called and asked for him was told they could not connect me to him as I was talking to South America, they solved the problem with one number and disconnected another one and had to connect me again. Guess what have now lost both numbers again. We have decided not to even try for numbers again but have friends from Canada call on our Canadian phone and we will call them back. So far everyone I have talked with is hard to understand. Don’t even bother e-mailing them you also get the same answer, they are trying to solve the issue and please call customer service as they must talk to you directly. After wasting about 2 hours of minutes and over $50 on our Canadian phone, we gave us 20 free minutes. Big deal

I understand what some of you are saying. I bought one at CVS. I used it for 5 minutes or so after it was activated and the display went black. I called customer service and got lucky, someone who spoke semi-English answered. After some over-the-phone testing, he came to the conclusion that it was in fact broke. He told me to send it back to Net10. I didn’t because I couldn’t be without a phone. So I bought another one. Same model, etc. I just figured I ate the $30 and would use the defunct phone for spare parts and transfer the 300 minutes that it came with to the new phone.I called customer ‘NON’ service and got someone with such a thick accent I could barely understand her. I gave her the #s from the old phone and the #s for the new phone, asking them to transfer the minutes. She said something about ’10 minutes’ and I had to tell her NO, I have 290 or so unused minutes to transfer. I was asked to ‘hold for 2 to 3 minutes’ about 15 times till I couldn’t hold anymore because I was at work. The minutes still haven’t been transferred and they had all my information except my shoe size. There’s no reason why they wouldn’t transfer the minutes other than to rip me off as far as I can tell.I tried to go online to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau but they don’t have NET10 as one of the options to pick regarding cell phones/carriers. I’ll find another way. So be warned people. I think as long as your phone is ok from the beginning and you never need minutes transferred, you’ll be alright. Anything at all goes wrong – good luck!!

The actual phone service is very good in our area but we have had atrocious problems with their customer service! The initial problems began when the arrow on my phone began sticking and draining the battery every day. I called customer service and they sent a new battery even though I explained it wasn’t a battery issue. I called customer service again and they said they would send another phone but they sent a Trac Phone that isn’t compatible with Net 10 service. I called again, they said they would send another phone and they didn’t. Ten days later I called back and they sent ANOTHER Trac Phone. By now my phone service is shut off and they can’t promise my same number. As of today, I have received my THIRD Trac Phone even though I am using Net 10 and AGAIN they have PROMISED to send a Net 10 phone. None of the people we have spoken to have been rude, but they seem to only care about following the script and getting you off the phone. This includes managers and managers, managers. I am so frustrated and am not feeling confident I will ever see a Net 10 phone!!!! Phoneless and Frustrated 🙁

If it works it’s good, but if it doesn’t, expect no help. I’ve been a customer for approx. 2 years. Just recently, Net10 will not connect to landlines in a small town where my relatives live. I and another Net10 customer have had the same failure from two different sending sites. After over an hour on the phone talking with their customer service people in another country, they decided the problem was resolved: 1) my cell phone was good, which I already knew. 2) The failure to connect to the landline was not their system problem and that the person I was calling should complain to their local telephone company.I decided to call that company, and after providing them with enough data, they determined that the problem was with a third company that leases service to Net10. The classic Catch22, nobody will help and Net10 doesn’t care that you cannot connect to anybody in this small town.

I’ve used NET10 for over a year. I’m leaving it this month because I bought a quad band gsm and will jump ship to ATT. Net10 service is terrible in Southern Louisiana; to the point of standing on the side of an interstate in a major city and having no coverage. Forget getting calls in most buildings. My understanding is that NET10 only uses one of the US GSM frequences and that freq is not used in this area as much. In Texas, NET10 service was great; and I had coverage almost all the time. Texting to and from International locations was fast and mostly problem free.NET10 could be a much better service by allowing you to use a net10 sim in any gsm unlocked phone – something you can’t do now; and improving their network.

My husband and I decided that we were tired of paying for a plan with minutes that we don’t use. So I shopped around for a pay as you go phone. We dicided on Net 10. What a big mistake. I called to port over numbers on phones. One went over the very next day, but the phone did not ring. The second number is still not activated. It has been 17 days. And they are still giving me the run around. They keep telling me that it will be ready in 24 hrs. There is some techniqual problem, that I won’t understand. The phone has been ringing since the second day. But yet I am still unable to answer it, because I can’t activate the phone. They say they are waiting for a response from thier corporate office this will be made a priority, and it usually takes 24 hrs. It has been 17 days and still I am unable to activate my phone. I am speaking to people in the Philipines, and they put me on hold to speak to another department, that is in Guatemala. And all of them are waiting for authorization from a corporate office in Florida. I was told this morning that my phone will be ready to active in 5 hrs. I called back in 5 hrs. and not they say it will not possible be ready for 48 hrs. I have spoken to numerous people at this company, they are all hard to understan, and appear to be following a script. They all say the same thing and respond the same way. I feel that all I have gotten from this company is the run around. If there was a problem with porting in a certain area code or prefix,(which is what I finally was told is the problem 10 days later) I should have been told this when I first called and set up to have this number to ported in. Now all I want is to get the number actived so that I can port it to the original company that we had in the first place. But, they can’t even give me a straight answer of when that may even take place. Do your self a favor. If you are planning to switch to another cell phone provider, make sure you ask up front if there is a problem with porting in a certain prefix and area code. Hope this may help somebody. Wish I would have know. Also, to let you know that Net 10 is a part on TransPhone.

I have had about 3 phones. I use the minutes up and then I buy another one for 30 bucks with 300 minutes. I finally reloaded a phone with family dollar card bcuz I wanted to keep the same contacts and I had no problem at all w/$30 card. The phone is a piece of crap and sometimes when I don’t answer it I have to take the battery off to make it stop vibrating. Sometimes the caller id doesn’t show a missed call number but it shows a missed call, but all of those are bcuz of the cheap nokia phone I chose. the calls are great 90% of the time & for $30 for 2 mths u can’t really complain. My kids can reach me when I’m not home and I never had a problem making a call when I needed to. I will keep them as long as they sell ’em and I am getting my daughter one just to keep up w/ her when she’s not home!

So far, so good but have not used Customer Service. Bot the phone, activated it, no problems, not getting strange calls. If you see strange numbers, delete them to keep costs down. You might try finding out where they’re from at work on that phone. I noticed the cheapest card on the website is $20. Even if you don’t use all 200 min, if you otherwise have a good experience with Net10, it’s cheaper than the BIG BOYS. I’m about to add my first minutes and am going to use a credit card. If I don’t get the minutes, I’m not paying; you can have the credit card company refuse the claim but you need proof. What I would do is print the page that says you paid, then print the page that shows you didn’t get minutes. Keep it for your Visa/MC company. Also, it seems Net10 is notorious for customer service so I would use another landline phone or pay phone and call them. In my area, pay phones are $.50, equivalent to using only 5 minutes. I’m saying all this without actually having the experience but it’s what I’d try.

ACCESS2000WIZ:I am not sure how you figure that airtime isn’t always .10 per minute. It isn’t very hard to ‘clearly’ see that if you are paying $100 for 1000 minutes, it is only .10 per minute. You said:’Net 10 Air Time costs – not always 10 cents per minute!’I copied your example for the 2 year card below. You said:’Two years: = 720 days / 30 = 24 monthscost (@ $15/mo) = 24 months x $15 = $360You should only be paying $360Net 10 wants to charge you $400 – bad deal’This is NOT a bad deal. You pay $400 and get 4000 minutes. It still works out to .10 per minute. Just because you are paying more than $15 per month doesn’t mean that it is more than .10 per minute! Please tell me how you figure that it is more than .10 per minute, because no matter how many times I do the math it always comes out to… (drum roll please) .10. ‘Monthly’ cost has NOTHING to do with what you are paying per minute! The larger denomination cards are for those who use ‘more’ minutes, not someone who wants to keep a budget of $15 per month. You are trying to compare a monthly charge with minutes you are getting per card and that is like comparing apples to oranges. You are MISLEADING those who may be mathamatically challenged into thinking they are not getting their money’s worth. There is a difference between a ‘monthly’ figure of $15 per month, which seemed to be the point you were trying to make (NOT the fact that you are not getting the service at .10 per minute)and the actual value of the card itself.EVERY CARD IS WORTH .10 PER MINUTE!You should have said that not all of the cards equal $15 per month, and then you would have been correct. If that is your budget, and you or anyone else doesn’t want to spend more than $15 per month, then your conclusion that only some of the cards work out to $15 per month is right.BUT, no matter which card you buy, you are always paying .10 per minute. It doesn’t matter how long the card is good for if you plan on using all of the minutes on the card. Someone who buys a 1000 minute card because he/she uses a lot of minutes, still pays .10 per minute. It doesn’t have anything to do with how many days the card is good for since the minutes roll over as long as you buy another card before the expiration. So when you say it is a ‘bad deal’ that is FALSE. Anyway you cut it, it still works out to .10 per minute.Next time make sure you know what you are trying to tell people before giving them false information!

Right now I am waiting for them to send me my 5th phone. first one exploded while making a call, second one got VERY hot when I would make calls from it, third one would take up to triple or more time away every text I made or call I did. now this 4th phone is shutting off on me during calls or in the middle of texts. When I call in, I ALWAYS get someone that does not speak good english and you are on the phone with them listening to the same thing for an hour.. so I email them and last time I got the BBB involved and they are sending my 5th phone out.. if I could afford to get another phone company, I WOULD…

Save your money. Seriously. It is not worth the aggravation. Everything was going fine for several months. Then late last year I went to add an airtime card and it never updated my minutes or advanced the service date. So I called customer service, which is a call center in India. Now I have not had any rudeness from them as other have said here, but they are either very stupid or they are trained to seem stupid by not going outside a certain routine. So anyway, they insisted I call from another phone. This is a problem since this net10 phone is the only phone I have! I borrowed a friend’s phone to call them back. They had me going through menus and entering codes. Then they proclaimed it was all fixed. Except that nothing happened. No minutes update and no service date advanced. The phone still worked so I continued to use it. Then about a month and a half after adding the airtime card, I suddenly get a bunch of minutes added and the service date advanced. So today I went to make a call, I have nearly 800 minutes and service end date over a month away. Yet my phone is shut off and the recording claims my service date ended. Note, they deducted minutes from my phone to listen to a recording that says my phone is shut off!! So I added an airtime card to try and get it back on. And that airtime card didn’t take either. So I tried to call customer service and it says sorry you have to have an active phone to call customer service! It said if you want to add airtime press one, so I did, and did get a service rep that way. I asked why did my phone get shut off there are minutes on it, and why isn’t my card taking? She asked the pin number of the card and then got my phone back on. But still was unable to answer why my phone was shut off in the first place. The minutes still weren’t added and service date still not advancing so I called them back. Again, they want me to call from another phone in order to enter these codes into my phone. I don’t see the point and since I don’t have access to another phone right at the moment I just said forget it. I think something is wrong with their programming but they don’t seem to be trying very hard to get it fixed. If it’s not fixed by the time I use up whatever minutes I actually have (I don’t even know), I’m moving to another carrier. So FYI, the 10 cent a min really isn’t worth this kind of aggravation. I’m not sure I’m even getting 10 cent a minute since they cut the phone off early and don’t update the minutes when the airtime card is added.

I have a question to fellow net10 subscribers:Are there any good deals on refill cards that gives you something cheaper than .10 per minute?Sofar I’ve come up with www.pinzoo.com and i’ve also seen something called: www.net10discount.com (this last one looks a bit shady.. but 600 minutes for $49.99?!? is this too good to be true?)I hope someone please responds, as I have less than a week left on my phone and want a good deal to refill (otherwise, why not just buy ‘another phone). If walmart or bestbuy had the $15 cards I would just break down & buy that.. but online seems the way to go, as your just buying a refill pin # and don’t need to ship an actual card.

I called the Net 10 service center at 1-877-836-2368, I found out at the end of the call of forty minutes, most of which was on hold that the call center is in the country of Beliz. The representative spoke very low and there was multi conversations going on in the back ground, I could not understand him very well at all. To receive a refund I must pay return postage and give this person in Beliz my credit card number, I had used the card to order the phone so it should not be neccessary to give my number to someone abroad. The representative kept saying he was transferring my call, yet it sounded like him that returned to the line each time and asked the same information over again, this happed at least 3 times. I felt like he was trying to discourage me by having me hold so long I would give up on the refund.

This is the second year I have purchased Net 10 and love the idea BUT I complained to them about receiving calls about warrenty expiration on a vehicle I do not own. Those calls stopped and shortly after, now I am receiving calls (about 2 per day) asking for Guadalope. When I return these calls it appears they are from a company who may be a telephone calling company. How long does Net 10 hold a number before passing it on? Is it possible someone is calling to use up our minutes???? Or, could it just be coincidence?

bought my first net10 at walmart in Yuma Az three years ago. I am a snowbird from Canada. I have a motorola flip phone. It’s great. Way cheaper then using my Canadian service while in the United States. I can also renew my airtime online when back home in CAnada. Although I cannot use the phone there at least i keep it active and keep my number. Would recommend it to any Canadian who spends time south. Also I can phone home to family in Canada for only 10c a minute.

Two stars for adequate phone service, zero stars for customer support. When you call, they will put you on hold numerous times. They will ask you the same information multiple times (zip code, SIM card number), anything to delay resolving your problem. After I switched to a better phone, they permanently deactivated the old SIM card. Unfortunately, the new phone was defective, but my old SIM was kaputt. After replacing my old SIM, they wouldn’t transfer my remaining minutes without my buying a new block of airtime — effectively forcing me to burn up old minutes or watch them expire unused under the new airtime. Go ahead and use Net10, but ANY TIME you have a problem, just throw away the phone and buy a new one ($19.99). You waste your time trying to rationally discuss your technical problems. And yes, they don’t speak English very well.

Excellent phone! I’ve had my phone almost a year and this is the best cell phone service compared to the big name contract service providers that I’ve had. I haven’t experienced any drop calls and unlike other prepaid service providers, Net10 only charges a flat rate of 10 cents for all calls INCLUDING roaming. Most prepaid don’t even include roaming or charge outrageous fees. I love the fact that Net10 has rollover minutes and rollover service so whenever I purchase additional minutes my old minutes are added and my service time is extended even longer. Two service months are added with a 300 minute card which is $30 and the months extend even greater with the higher minute cards. You don’t have to worry about ‘topping up’ or adding more minutes every 30 days like Virgin Mobile or other prepaids require in order to keep your service activated. The reception is great also. I can hear much better on this phone compared to my old Palm Treo! Text messages are 5 cents/min incoming and outgoing. You can’t be that rate also. The phones are not too fancy but there are some that you can download ringtones, graphics, etc from the Net10 website. The Net10 site also provides easy payment options that allows you to debit a monthly fee from your bank account for minutes started at $15/month for 150 min/month and so on. There is also a $79/month package that gives unlimited calling and texting. I think that’s the best deal especially if you text a lot. This is the best prepaid deal that I’ve found and I searched a while before settling on Net10.

I have a track phone because I just did not want to deal with ANY contracts. I’ve had my phone for four years and have NEVER had any problems at all. I have traveled from Louisiana to Texas to Chicago to NewYork and back. I’ve never had a dropped call and service has always been great the few times I’ve had to use it. Maybe the problems some of you are experiencing are because of your locations? My daughter dropped and broke my first net phone on yesterday. She purchased me another one and no problem having my information transfered to the new phone. I agree the ring tones aren’t the best but my daughter has been able to download others from other medias. Great if you ask me.

Some customer service representatives, managers included, are horrible, ill-mannered, and in dire need of customer service training. Initially I was able to call Jamaica repeatedly and without any difficulty. Suddenly my service was disconnected and I was told very rudely that Jamaica is not included in the plan because they did not sign up. I was then rudely denied a refund of my lost money. I would NEVER recommend this service to anyone. Everything is a problem: you constantly have to add minutes to your plan to prevent complete deactivation, you have to change your SIM card for some other reason, then the service is suddenly no longer available in your area. RIDICULOUS! WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME!

They also said when i bought 600 minutes they would have 5 cents a minute and 2.5 cents a text, but i didnt buy my 600 minutes yet. My phone hasnt failled me yet and i dought it will. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! DO NOT BOTHER WITH NET 10. Bought 2 phones. Tried to transfer old cell #’s to new phones – they moved the SAME cell # to BOTH phones. Called cust serv – hours (seriously) of agonizing stupid people asking the same questions over and over. After a week – got new SIM card and after 2 more hours talking to cust serv, finally got the 2nd phone to work. After only 2 weeks of it working, NET10 did something in their system and once again, I had an ‘unregistered SIM’ nonworking phone. Called cust serv – after 1.5 hours of being asked the same quest’s by 3 dept’s and repeatedly being put on hold, they said they’d have to send me yet ANOTHER SIM card. I should have a working phone in about 5-7 days!! NICE!!! When I asked why I had to hold for so long or what was taking so long to figure out, I was told that their system has some problems and he was waiting for all the notes on my phone to become available. He said their system has ‘errors’. Well no duhhhh!!!These people are WORSE than dealing with DELL over the phone!

Pros: easy to understand ‘contract’. You buy minutes, use them, get more before the date runs out. Easy enough. They are connected to TracFone somehow but I could never figure out just what I would be paying TracFone and what I would be getting for it. Net10 is so much easier to understand.Cons: Not many phones to choose from. Choices are somehow limited to where you are going to use it.We got 2 phones at the same time (Motorola V176). Ordered them online. I got one phone set up quickly and easily with no problems. The other, I did something wrong and had to call customer service. I couldn’t understand much of what the guy was saying because it was so dang noisy there! But, somehow, when it was over, the phone was working and it had 300 more minutes than the other one.I set it up online that we can use the phone to get more minutes. As long as you do it before the date ends, all is well. One phone, we had to add minutes before it had run out (but the date was approaching). Easy to do, easy to understand, easy to know what you are paying for. Can’t get any easier.

Whatever you do, DO NOT purchase the cheapest phone. While I do appreciate Net 10’s flat rates I do not appreciate the fact that it is near impossible to actually hear anyone while you are using the cell phone. Nor do I appreciate the fact that it takes at least three attempts for the call to go through. I do realize I opted for cheap, not really caring about having the ‘best’ phone (though I’m not sure it’s possible on a prepaid plan) but I would like to be able to actually use the phone. Texting is difficult to the point of frustration. Even my cheap phone with T Mobile prepaid was better than this. Had I had a better experience with Net 10 I might have upgraded to a better phone but at this point I wasted my $30 and will go back to paying more with T Mobile or will find a different prepaid plan altogether. Perhaps it was my fault, buying the cheap phone to begin with, but overall I am not impressed with Net 10. I was hoping to write a good review for them since it is true that the people who take time to write reviews are usually complaining but sadly, add me to the list of complaints. Even with a cheap phone I should get better service than this.

I am very happy with my Net10 service. I have been with the company for over two years. In that time, I have never had a dropped call or been without service. I have a Nokia 1600 and my wife has a LG600g cell phone. Her phone does drop calls every once in a while, so I think that the phone may be the culprit in many of the complaints that I read here. I have called customer service many times, and I have found them to be very helpful. It doesn’t hurt to be nice and ask them how they are today. People that work with the public take alot of abuse for situations that they have no control over. Your approach does make a difference. Most large companies outsource their customer service now days, have you tried calling Delta Airlines lately? I was with a post paid plan before I went with Net10 and they sure had no problems charging hidden fee’s. At least with Net10, you can dump the service if you are unhappy. Get your wallet out if you try this with a contract plan.

The best thing about NET10 is definitely the price (4 star price) but NET10 has issues with poor sound/call quality (2 star for call quality). The phones are low quality compared to other devices (2 stars). Customer service is good and helpful but the reps can be hard to understand (3 stars). When trying to resolve issue like bad pin numbers, it can take over a month to resolve problems (1 star for bad problem resolution). All in all, these phone are best for people that don’t spend a lot of time on the phone as service & sound quality issues can be very frustrating. I am looking for a cost effective alternative WITH good sound and minimal dropped calls.

As far as phone service goes it’s ok for me. One hint, if your using this as your PRIMARY phone, do your self a favor.. if you EVER have to call customer service, do it on a land-line! Net10 will jack your minutes for calling customer service, and you will be there a while (mostly on hold), transfered to this rep. or that rep. and if you have a problem, it’s not generally a quick fix. BTW, do they every fix the activated phone caller id name issues? I activated a phone, registered my info, and the old customer’s caller id name still exists in their sytem… 2nd time I’ve complained about it, average time for them to register this complaint: 45 mins (which is $6.75 of your net 10 minutes). I’m debating whether to just let the phone expire & get a new number for which I reactivate or see if they finally fix the caller id issue.. really, if they’d just fix the name, or delete the old name, they’d have a regular refill customer.. Why on earth do you want to screw with a potential loyal customer?!?

We purchased NET10 last May for a relative in a nursing facility under Hospice care and needed a private phone. That phone died and we purchased a second phone. We wanted to have the minutes and number changed to the new phone. I called the tech service listed on the red card provided. I received a tech I couldn’t understand and she was speaking in a low voice. She was very impatient, condensending and rude. I asked to speak to her supervisor and she put me on hold long enough for me to undecorate the Christmas tree. The supervisor was curt, but apologized. I realize this is an out-sourced tech service in South America, but would like to see your techs trained to use the common courtesy of the country they are servicing. Even though eventually my request was honored, I was frustrated and iritated with your tech support.

I have only had NET10 for a short time and at this point, the phone service is okay for what I need it for. However, I use mine infrequently. I have 151 minutes remaining and have been advised that I lose those minutes today if I don’t add 300 more minutes. (I say 300 because the cheapest card I’ve found so far $30 – 300 min. or $60 for 600 min.) Although I’m trying to cut costs, I don’t mind paying when I need it, but not demanded to buy or lose what I’ve had for a short time. That is the biggest problem I have with Net10 – losing minutes. I’m sure that is where they make their money, but its sad in this economy to have to buy when you don’t need to – there should be another way. Having to buy every month you might as well go with a contract. That’s what I didn’t want. No offense but it is very difficult to communicate with customer service, and you do stay on the telephone with them for a long time (but to be fair to them other telephone co CSRs are that way too.)

Do NOT buy a Net10 phone. It isn’t as simple or evil-free as they make it sound. I bought a phone to use for emergencies only, and was told at the point of purchase that since there is “no contract,” I would never be obliged to buy more minutes than I actually need, nor would there be a schedule under which I’d have to buy the minutes I did need. This was all false. I found AFTER purchasing the phone that you are REQUIRED to either buy huge amounts of air time in advance in order to keep your phone active, or to buy a MINIMUM of 200 minutes a month – again, just to keep your phone active, not because you need the air time. The only way you can cut the cost down to merely $15 a month is to enroll in a “plan” that automatically bills you $15 a month for 150 minutes – even if you only need 50 minutes. Net10 will end up costing you MORE, not less, if you use it as your only phone. I am now stuck with 300 minutes I’ve already paid for, and six days in which to use them before the investment I’ve already made is just lost. “no contract, no hassle, no evil” is a joke. Don’t fall for it!

‘Bill’ mentioned something about NET10 adding new phone choices. I’ve read up on one of those new phones, and it did NOT get good ratings. Hopefully theres a Net10 phone out there that will allow downloadable ringtones from any website one wants to get them from. And that those ringtones are anything OTHER than freaking Polyphonic!Oh, and ‘Dave’- most arent complaining about NEt10 itself, but rather the cheap quality PHONES they offer. Most of their phones are very cheap quality, with hardly ANY features (not even a freaking Calendar on the V-176) and sorry, terrible sounding ringtones! But its true, how can a minimum of $15 a month be beat for keeping a Net10 phone active? Especially since the reception/coverage is pretty decent too! 🙂

How can you beat it? $30 bucks for a basic phone with 300 minutes, hell if you do not like it throw it away when you have used up the minutes! I have had very good luck with customer service and sure there are normally foreign reps that take the calls, but they always make sure that they take care of you before the call is over. The coverage is pretty good and dropped calls are rare.No surprises and I think its a good cell plan for someone that is not a heavy user like myself. I was with Alltel before and Net 10 is not only cheaper but better service and easier to use. No 2 stage dialing like Alltel

coverage is all right, but when i ordered a ring tone, it took a week to get it to me. they charge you for texts that fail to send and the phones are all really crappy. good for someone who hardly ever uses their phone. wouldnt recommend it for anything but the cheap rates.

I just started using Net10 coming from a sprint contract phone. I love the value although the phone quality of choices could be better. I had no problems getting activated or adding minutes to my phone. The sound is great in my opinion. I could never get great reception in my home with my contract phone and my Net10 phone keep a full ‘bar’ status 99% of the time. The ringers are a bit cheesy but it works. If you want a basic phone, it’s a great value.

I’ve had this service on 3 phones for 3 years now and had only 1 problem. When 1 of the phones broke I had to order a new one and then transfer the phone # to the new phone which took a few hours. Other than that everything works just fine. Those of you that complained that they lost money while trying to refill their phones most likely input a wrong code #. This service is a great value if you are a light talker. This is the best prepaid cell service you will find.

I had great service until just recently. I just have one question. Have any of you had troubles with numerous unauthorized charges being placed for minutes on your credit card…like say $400.00 in a single month?

THE TROUBLE WITH REVIEWS LIKE THESE ARE THAT BITTER PEOPLE TEND TO TAKE THE TIME TO LEAVE REVIEWS WHILE PEOPLE WHO ARE HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE DON’T BOTHER. I’VE HAD NET 10 FOR TWO YEARS. HAD ALLTEL FOR 4 YEARS BEFORE THAT. ITS THE EXACT SAME SERVICE FOR ME IN THE CLEVELAND AREA. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS I PAY $15 A MONTH WITH NET 10 AND USED TO PAY $50 FOR ALLTEL. I USED TO GET 500 MINUTES AND FREE NIGHTS AND WEEKENDS BUT I WASN’T USING THEM ALL OF THE TIME. THESE REVIEWS ARE JUST PLAIN STUPID.. CHARGE TOO MUCH FOR TEXT MESSAGES? THEY CHARGE .05 PER. THEY CHARGE MORE IF YOU SEND/RECIEVE PICTURES IN THEM. EVEN IF YOU TALK ALOT THEY HAVE A CHEAPER UNLIMITED PRICE THAN ANYONE AT $79 AM MONTH.

I would never, ever recommend Net 10 to anyone!! I got a phone two years ago and initially I could not get it activated. I called customer service where no one spoke English fluently and I was told to turn the phone on/off, take out battery, take out SIM, and so on. This lasted for about a week and finally they told me that they could not help me and that the phone was activated in the system so it had to be something I was doing. I was pissed! I lost my receipt so I could not return the phone. All in all, it took me 6 months just to get the phone activated. They ended up sending me another phone because they said that mine could not receive tower signals. 6 months was waaaaaayyy too long just to get a phone activated. The service was lousy, the ringtones are crappy, customer service is……..purely pathetic, and I was frequently overcharged for airtime. If I were you I would steer clear of Net 10 at all costs.

I had more than one Net10 and was happy until I bought a card to add time to my phone. When I tried to add the time there was a message that it was not available at this time and try latter. I was leaving for a few days so called later only to find that my time had been taken by someone else! After some nice people tried to resolve my problem they just said, ‘To bad, nothing I can do for you.’ I changed companies and have found a better deal. You can too.

Customer service – I am new to Net 10 switching from a monthly AT&T service plan. I have called Net10 customer service 3 times and they have succesfully answered my questions and resolved problems quickly and in a professional manner. I don’t use my cell phone that ofen and decided to give Net10 a try. I was not thrilled with the phone styles available through Net10 however the savings I anticipate while using Net10 vs. the cost of my old monthly plan far exceeds the need for me to carry a stylish phone!

Net10 is really good if you don’t use the phone a lot. I use it every other day. I don’t do that much calling. Just short calls and text messages to my wife. The only things that frustrate me is they charge too much for text messages. And if you are in a rough spot and it fails to send, it charges you to send it again. And i don’t think it should charge you to read them and send them. And the phone choices are nil. But all in all they are good.

Poor customer service. Put on hold four times while they always have to transfer you to another department. Then put on hold again while you get transfered again. Hard to understand personnel. Was unable to resolve my problem.

Net ten is a really good service, no dropped calls and works every where i go. Unlike cricket they suck, how they hook u is unlimited talk for a low price. But there phones are cheasy and they have the worst service i have ever had. And my new phone i purchased from them broke in 2 months that is pathetic. Net ten is more expensive for me than cricket, but it is definitly worth it. As they say u get what u pay for. I suggest never switch to cricket, the worst service ever. Net ten is the best.

I’ve had Net10 phones for more than 2 years now with no problems. The $30 card is for 60 days so it’s really no different than buying a $15 twice a month. I live out in the middle of no where but have gotten better service with these phones than I did previously with Nextel or Centennial (Michigan user). These are a lot cheaper than other plans and I like that minutes rollover. The only cons are that their Web site has a delay when purchasing minutes and is not always available and I wish there were more ringtones available.

Horrible phone, horrible service. I could not make or receive calls. The customer service people had heavy accents and were hard to understand. Net10 was a total waste of time and money. I gave the phone away.

I dislike the plan at this time because you people took away the only plan that was worth anything. ANd us small people can afford. It is really hard to come by $30.00 instead of $15.00. Times are really hard. And most everyone from Mason, TX bought this plan because we can afford to buy $15.00 at a time. Even the employees from the Dollar General are having to drop the plan (phone in general) because lack of funds. I myself bought it because my mother and sister are sick and I could call them easily. Now, I have had to do without the air time due to the fact that you all took away the lower costing plan. So, PLEASE BRING BACK the $15.00 plan. It’s hard to make ends meet. I have a daughter that is about to deliver. But can’t us my phone. And when the phone is damaged, we, the people, have to buy a brand new phone, stay on the line for around 45 minutes (waisting our minutes), have to pay to text, which is a crock, and then explain why we need the phone replaced and the minutes. my son’s phone broke a couple of months ago and he had 450 minutes left on that phone. We can’t afford a new NET10 phone or to call NET10 to place them on another phone, such as mine. I really think that for the less fortunate people that you should bring back the lower plan. I can get minutes on muy T-Mobile phone for less than 10.00 but I chose the NET10 and recommended it to others. Because it was so low.
