I bought the slider phone and I have had no problems at all. At first I had issues with my phone not wanting to activate, but after I called CS it worked fine. Originally I wanted to transfer my old number, but it seemed to hectic of a deal because it said it might take up to 7 days if my old carrier approves, so I just chose to get a new number because I needed a phone now. I love it because it has great service in the sticks where I live compared to Verizon although it supposedly runs off of Verizon towers..why is that??

This is literally the worst service i have EVER SEEN with a cell phone company. IT all started with texting first where i didnt receive then couldnt send. Then my calls dropped and then i couldnt receive calls and last no service. When i called them they sent me a new phone and apologized a million times. Now i have a 2 phones and still no service and they cant figure it out. Tech support there is a joke and i think they brought them off the banana boat because they have no clue what they are even talking about. Everything sounds like a script and they cant help. Worst part is now my number is lost. I HATE this company !!! HATE THEM

so far today i ported from att and all went smooth— took about an hour– browser, pic mail, texts, calls all great, no browser probs at all– wayyyy cheaper than att I gave it 4 stars only because when I called CS they said on the day it expires, its a 50% chance you will lose your number—-Now that worries me cause i had this # for a while and its way cool—50% chance is kinda a grey response, if i auto fill by the end, it will be kept. had anyone gone after the expiration date and LOST their number. The TOS says you have 30 days after it expires, then the # is lost however the rep said its a 50-50 chance.

Is this the old saying you get what you pay for? Even though it seems like a great deal, believe me its not. I think I would prefer to pay a little more for a service and actually get what Im paying for. This service is not worth the problems and horrible customer service you get!!! For those few who have not had any issues with your phones, be thankful. It has been 2 1/2 weeks since my number was ported from another carrier. This is my second phone and I still cant recieve incoming text messages which is extremely inconvenient, I cant use the browser and when I can, its for a minute or so then it shuts down. I also cant check my email even when the browser works and my phone loses calls all the time. Since Ive had this phone Ive spoken with 13 different foreign people that I cant understand and who keep me on the phone for hours telling me to hold while they speak to the other dept and then tell me to give it 24/48 hours, at which time I should call back. The managers Ive spoken with when the other dept let me speak to one, assured me that they would take care of the problem and would call me back in 24/48 hours. Do you think they ever called??? Ive been hung up on twice by those who cant speak English and Ive even brought my phone to Walmart and had an associate in the cell phone area try to reason with these people. He spoke to 2 different people who told him they would fix the problem within 15 mins to 1 hour. Still problem not solved.I informed him the phone still wasnt working correctly and he called again, spoke with 2 more people, one who was a manager and was told my number was not listed as ported, and they would need all the phone numbers of every person that I couldnt recieve a text from. What kind of company is this???? I have never dealt with such poor quality customer service in my life !!! Im glad to see that there are many other people who are having problems and im not alone. Im hopeing that someone from Tracfone, Walmart and Verizon are reading these comments so they can understand what terrible service we as customers have been recieving. They lost me as a customer and when asked about this service from friends, family and strangers I will tell them to stay away from Straight Talk and if they dont believe me to check out the comments section. And the only reason this has one star is because you dont have the choice of zero. /

The browser does work if you shut off the phone (after you have it fully activated and it is working properly) then remove the battery, then reinstall it. I have yet to find a site I cannot go to, unless the site has a security issue… that has been about one out of 20 sites for me thus far…

got the r451c phone for the 14 yr old grandkid about a month ago. activated it in about 30 minutes. didn’t port a number. so far everything works perfectly including text, mms, and data. not sure why ppl are having so many problems with the service. works great for him and full bars all the time. must be a luck thing at this point. last i heard, yahoo mail wasn’t working but he didn’t care because he has a gmail account which works fine. By the way, if you want ringtones and wallpaper get a bluetooth adapter to plug into your pc and have at it. we can add ringtones, wallpaper, and music at will and it works perfectly. bluetooth can even see the difference between internal and memory card memory. we were paying $65.00 a month for 450 minutes of talk and unlimited text and no internet to sprint. the $30.00 plan gives him everything he needs and he has the internet access that he never had before. I hope you all have the good luck with ST that we have. It is a great deal for us.

Activated a phone today. It took 1/2 hour from start to making first phone call. The browser was also activated. I used the on-line process to port a Verizon number and then followed the process that was suggested at the end of my online work. CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY WERE GREAT. I requested that they remove the automatic minute update one gets when placing calls. Actually, I called CS before buying a phone to request some information and they were helpful then too. My son called CS today to make some changes on his account, and once again CS was professional and helpful.

reliable coverage, great price…my only complaint would be the customer service, Ive only called them once for setup-and hopefully with the refills available online will not need to go through the trouble in the future, which is bearable…if you have the time to be patient.(didnt appreciate the first calls to them being hung up on by the automated message stating they were too busy)

I have the barebones LG 200 cause I just need a phone that works. This phone works. (The Boost Motorola phone did not and they’re history.) Be aware that the status message:’you have x number of minutes left or you have unlimited minutes’ can be disconnected by customer service if you like.Service is far more reliable than the Tracfone side of the company, probably because the phones themselves are better. Calls ring thru instead of going straight to voicemail. Start with the 1000 minute plan and upgrade if you need. About $34/month with taxes.I can’t speak to the browser/camera users, but if you just need a phone that WORKS, this is it.Dan in metro Phoenix

I would like to mention a little trick i found out accidentally switching my number from co to fl area code. if your on the $30 plan and run out of talk data or text you can simply call cust service and complain that you cannot make or recieve calls they will deactivate and reactivate your service replenishing all three services which will add 1000 mins of talk time to what you allready have and reset 1000 texts and 30 mb of data, of course you have to lie to them but hey as of this post i have 1671 mins on the $30 plan. I am very satisfied with straighttalk service. Straightalk uses verizon netwerk I traveled from colorado to florida via greyhound and only lost service once in the desolate area of texas for maybe 3 mins. Customer service has improved much they found reps that speak better english lol. I would recomend this service over anyone even cricket which i was loyal to for years.

I took mine Straight Talk phone back and went back to Net10. Net10 had fantastic coverage and the guy had Walmart said if I had good coverage with Net10 I should have almost the same with Straight Talk. WRONG! I get a few miles out of the city and I have no service. I’ve even been IN the city and repeatedly dropped calls. 🙁 Too bad. It had everything going for it – except decent coverage. CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW???

I had the supervisor on the phone who was refusing to reactivate my phone because the replacement phone was in route. She even refused to believe the phone been had it reactivated last night. I told her I had the number where the rep. called me to verify the phone was working plus I had the caller ID on my home phone where I placed a call to verify it was working and she still did not believe me. So what happened next the Fedex lady showed up with the replacement phone. The rep. told me if I sent the new phone back my current phone would not be active until they recieved it back. So she reprogrammed the new phone and I am going to send back a perfectly good working phone. Only thing I had programmed a 100 contacts that I have to go back and do one at a time. How stupid can people be. Do not trust me with the new phone but trust me with the old phone that there is nothing wrong with. The lady was in South America her name is Tracy she said. I hope Tracphone reads this because she was rude and she got back exactly what she dished out. My phone is once again working but I am not going to brag because it may be out down tomorow. Friends do notlet friends purchase Straight Talk Phones. Do not embarass yourselves and give one of these for a gift.

Phone is ok and monthly cost is good. BUT it has the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I ever seen. I made a online purchase for a graphic picture. I was charged for it not once but twice because they told me to try again since it didn’t work the first time and they would refund my money. I’ve been on that phone now 6 times trying to get them to refund the cost of the two charges they charged me. Still now refund or picture I tried to purchase. Customer Service is so bad I give it a -1.

This is a great deal for the price. We ordered 2 phones for a grand total of 283 and some change. We could not get them activated online, so we called the next to customer service. Our phone call was answered right away…and phones activated, everything worked just fine for the first 4 days…then, it was pure hell…the phones stopped working-was on the phone with customer service/technical for 2.5 hours….and they still could not get the phones to work…so we were told a tech would call us within 24-48 hours to try to fix the phones. Not acceptable, so we have returned the phones via UPS and have done a credit card dispute…you will not speak to an American or anyone who can speak ENGLISH properly..and it has been a real pain trying to deal with them, to let them know the tracking number of the package. Not helpful at all….customer service needs alot of work, and they need to bring those jobs to AMERICA! I DO NOT RECOMMEND STRAIGHT TALK….

Purchased a R451C model at local Walmart, along with a $45 unlimited card. Activated the phone on-line via internet. Followed the activation procedures and had no problems activating this phone. I ported my old TRACFONE number into the new cell phone easily. Make sure you dial (*22890) when porting to activate the number and then place a call to complete your activation. Your old phone will stop working first, and then you can continue with the port. Nice slideout keyboard makes text message typing easy. Digital camera works good, (No Video), only pics. I was able to access the internet and start browsing with no problems. Good solid phone, but not as sturdy as the TRACFONE brick I was carrying around before. My old phone could handle being dropped, the new cell, with the sliding keyboard and camera, probably not a good idea to have this hit the pavement. Get a clip on case for it. So far…a good investment.

Purchased the samsung r451c from Walmart, love the phone! I ported from Verizon, and after waiting 32 hours, called 800-876-5753, had the phone running within 5 minutes… Now, with that said, I’m guessing with proper instructions no call to them would be needed… Here is what to do if the phone is not porting after 24 hours… Dial *228 and press ‘1’ after you are connected. This brings you to Verizon’s standard software update and phone activation. The phone worked immediately upon rebooting after dialing *228 and following instructions. The browser did not work, and I followed instructions on another posting here— if your browswer is not functional, shut the phone off and then remove the battery. NEVER remove the battery from a cell phone that is turned on, they usually will ‘brick’ when you do that, and then you have a real mess! Upon putting the battery back in and turning the phone on, the browswer is now fully functional.. I have been able to go to every website that I can access from a regular computer… I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, because these instructions should be in the packet that came with the phone.

I received my Samsung R451C yesterday. I activated it online and got a new phone number. The phone activated right away with full bars of service. The only problems i encountered was i could not receive a picture message and i could not get on the web without a network error pop up. I let it fully charge and tried again after making a phone call that it said activated the phone and then everything worked. Before texting or anything, make a call first to activate the phone. Then try out the features. I love the phone and i havent had to deal with customer service, so far i am happy with the idea of saving $55 a month!

We bought our new Samsung from Walmart and have nothing but trouble from the start. Number took forever to port, CS stinks, why can’t they hire Americans if WE can’t call internationally? But hey apparently we CAN because we keep getting foreigners that don’t speak understandable English, the background is muffled and they do not know what they are doing!!! Plus they get irritated when you ask them to repeat what they’ve said. Still haven’t gotten browser to work and I’m sick of hearing wait 12 to 14 hours and then if it doesn’t work, call us back!!! That is sooo irritating!!!!! It also drops calls all the time and that is annoying! I don’t even know why I’m giving them 1 star!

I purchased a Straight Talk Samsung R451C from Walmart late last week and I am thoroughly impressed. I have been using prepaid service for a number of years, and my largest complaint of prepaid cell service as a whole is the coverage area. I live on a lake without a clear line of sight to a cell phone tower. This means that I don’t get very good cell phone coverage at home. However, the cell towers that Straight talk uses, plus the quality of the phone means that where I didn’t have very good cell phone service at home before, now I can use my phone anywhere on my property. This is a definate bonus for me, not to mention that the previous unlimited prepaid plan that I was using was $5 more per month plus taxes. The setup was just about as simple as could be: create an account, enter the ESN of your phone, enter your account information from your current provider to port in your number, place a call to activate your phone. I had my service switched over with my old phone number ported in within 1 hour, and most of that time was spent entering information on the web. I was on the phone with my girlfriend at the time with my old phone, and as soon as I placed the call to activate my phone, the call was disconnected on my old phone and went through on my new phone. Easy as could be. The one thing that I wish the Samsung R451C has that it doesn’t is games. I do miss the occasional game of Tetris on my phone, but I really think that I can deal without this in exchange for having a nice phone with a full QWERTY keyboard and very good cell phone coverage.

StraightTalk customer service completely sucks and it’s unbarably obvious that the customer service is outsourced to another country where english is not the first language. Beware of the auto refill, which doesn’t start at the end of your service date but starts immediately upon enrolling in autorefill. we bought the phone then added a minutes card that was also purchase. i thought i would save myself time by signing up for auto refill and ended up loading double everything at once. i called customer service which did not help. i’m so mad i’m even considering getting rid of my tracfone. tracfone is going to ruin their reputation with this crappy service they are providing with straightalk.

As with new phone services you may experience dropped calls during the first month or so of release. Boost mobile had the same issue where after 10 minutes of useage the calls would consistantly drop. Straight talk has had a few issues with the service at this point, but will likely be resolved given a little time. I have activated many of these phones and only a few had a problem. Straight talk has yet to implement an automated phone system and speaking with phone representatives was just fine or equivalent to any other prepaid service. You have 90 days from purchase date with Walmart to return the handset (less the card), and with Christmas your 90 days begins from December 26th. Connection Center may say 15 days due to people abusing the system (using minutes then returning phones) but the policy is 90 days with the reciept. Contract phones are 15-30 days.

I was very happy at first, the phone is nice and the quality of the cell service is good. Once I spoke to customer service I was less than amused. WARNING: If you purchased a card for service, then sign up for Auto Refill, you best do it at the end of your thirty day, otherwise they charge you double. I understand the idea of the card and refills, but when a service says ‘Auto Renewal’ you think as in when this ends it will renew. No so and the website doesn’t say that anywhere. Outsourced Customer service basically said ‘To Bad, so sad’ and I spoke to a supervisor as well. Not a good way to start. For this alone, I would say no.

The Samsung 451 unit is a fine phone that should not, in any way, be mistaken for a smartphone. You can easily customize ringtones and wallpaper withOUT having to buy anything – just put ’em on a little SD card and you’re set! You can have different rings for different contacts, etc…it’s a breeze. Sound quality is fine, incoming and outgoing. Construction is evidently sturdy – I’ve dropped mine a couple of times with no ill effects. The first couple of weeks, there was an issue of connecting to Yahoo Mail, but that seems to have solved itself (or maybe they made changes – I never called about it). I did have a problem with the voicemail set-up (it thought I had already set it up, but I hadn’t…and I had no idea what the security code was!), but one call to the tech support line (at 6:30 Central, on a Tuesday…got right through) solved that with no problem! No, I don’t think the guy lived around here – but he re-set the voicemail password and was pleasant, so I don’t care. I migrated from a smartphone, and while I wish I could have that screen and that HTML browser back, the monthly cost for this makes this the winner. The 451 is a decent enough phone, and I am VERY pleased with the signal strength, coverage, and service I have experienced from ST.

LOL! Gotta love it. To set the record straight, Straight Talk has been in existence since June. Correct arithmetic places them at almost 6 months. They have had almost half of a year to fix what is broke. If you have not had a problem with activation then you are just plain lucky. Most people have had problems with this junk service.

One of the people gave a name and email address of someone at their customer support for issues and apparently he is extremely helpful, especially trying to get the web to work on the phone when you purchase it. I guess this is a pretty common problem because a lot of people are complaining about it. Try sending an email to Elston at elombilloTo tracfone.com. Nikki

Well, I am on my 4th week, 2nd phone and 5th phone number and still they cannot get the browswer to work. Though it sounded like a great deal and seemed it, I tranf. from trackfone to the ST and have had nothing but problems with getting on the browser. Oh once the browser worked and well by the time I got up the next morn. My phone number was changed without me knowing it. I have called nearly every day to have this problem resolved and still nobody has an answer except it has to be esculated to a different dept. in the next 24 to 48 hrs. I feel if the phone says it will give me the browser it should give it to me, not jerk me around as I have been for the past month. This IS the cheapest and best way to go as far as min., if only they could get the problems workd out. I think for my problems and inconvience I should be compensated. I have called the corp number 1-800-626-4883 and have gotten sent to various voice mails or mail boxes that are full. IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE THAT CAN GET THIS ST PHONE TO WORK PROPERLY? I would say again, a month, 2 phones, and 5 numbers is way too much for a hard working 58 year old woman to have to deal with a petty phone problem…..DON’T GET THIS PHONE UNLESS YOU WANT PROBLEMS! Though some have said theirs works great in my area, why not mine…is there something in my body that makes it not work? At least I see others are having problems with the browser, so IT IS ST’S, TRACFONE AND VERISON’S PROBLEM. FIX It. Far as I am concerned you have advertised wrongfully!!!!!!

I am really frustrated with this company, after it took over 2 weeks to port my number to verizon to straight talk everything was fine, I started with a 1000 minutes card and I used it in about 17 days, now Im having a huge problem every day, I called to add an unlimited card, after it was added the phone magically drops from the network DAILY and I have to spend hours waiting for them to reprogram the phoneI do not know if this is a technique to cohibit me from using the (unlimited minutes) but between the time talking to them from a land line and the time the phone is off air I have been able to use about 50 minutes in a week and everythine I call them they give me the same answer, ‘ we do not know, but it won’t happen again’ however, 2 hours later I am on the land line again calling them because the phone once again fell off the network. I hope someone besides users is reading this blog, it’s a shame that 2 of the most powerful companies in the world (WALMART & Verizon Telecommunications) are offering such of poor service and do practically nothing to help customer. If any of you guys feel wronged by this companies please let’s get together, let’s post our e mails here and have our voices heard it is unfair to pay for a service that is unreliable and inefficient. here my e mail let’s work together pfila21To yahoo.com

I have changed my rating from a 1 star to a 5 star. FINALLY ST and tracfone have fixed my phone, it was just a matter of getting ahold of the correct person at corp. Two people called me within 30 min of me leaving messsages to confirm that the browser is indeed working properly. So,GO AHEAD AND GET THE PHONE! I have the Samsung and they say they have been having problems with the browser. So, call corp and you WILL get good results in a short amount of time. So, glad I persued this or I would have have still been payn out the you know what for phone service….yipeeeeeee my browser works!!!!

The 3 stars is b/c I keep having web browsing issues. It actually started working for about a day, then it stopped and I was getting the same error message I had before: cannot resolve hostname. I called 800-876-5753, which is the corp. office (DON’T call the reg. C.S. #), and was disconnected before the call was resolved. Frustrating!! But I just called today, and the guy had me turn off the phone, remove the battery, then replace it and turn the phone back on. Now it works, at least to access yahoo, which is the only thing I’ve tried today. So, we’ll see. I like the phone, but then I’m coming from a dink Motorola that didn’t even have a camera on it before. So… Also, when the phone wasn’t getting online, I couldn’t send texts with pictures in them, either.

I just got off the phone with the Rep, and was told that this cell will not work if it is taken out of my registered ZIP code, not the AREA code, but the zip code. I live in a fairly decent size city, and I would be out of my zip code within a few miles! And after reading all the negative comnents, I think I will be bringing it back for a refund.

To Genny – It is not Verizon’s fault. The problem lies between Straight Talk and Walmart. Straight Talk’s parent company is TracFone.

Juan….yes, you can get facebook, or at least I can I have the Samsung R451C. I would give Straigt Talk 5 Stars if their website was working. I find it frustrating that with the 30.00 plan you cannot easily check how many min. you have used. The phone I have has a call timer so I use that to see how much talk time I have used but I have no way to tell how much text or data I have used. (There is a Data Counter also but I’m not sure how to read it) I have had plans in the past and hated the surprised when I received my bill, switched to Tracfone which I loved but I just didn’t use it as much as I would have liked. (I did alot of research and it is the cheapest way to go if you don’t use your phone to much) With Tracfone my sim card was AT &T, I didn’t always have service in some remote areas. With my ST Verizone phone I am finding that I have service in all areas. When I purchased my phone they let me know that I had 30 days to try it out and if I didn’t like it I could return the phone. (I have no plans on returning it) When calling CS I always call with very low expectations then I am usualy completly satisfied with the service I received sometimes not always with the first call but I just keep calling until I get someone that can correct the problem. I’ve never had a problem not getting my answer just may take awhile. I would highly reccomend Straight Talk especially the Samsung R451C.

You can call Straight Talk and they will remove the announcement at the beginning of the call of how many min. of talk time you have left. I may have them add mine back due to the fact it took forever for customer service to figure out how much time I have left and the website is not working.

Went online and signed up my new phone 11/10. I signed up to have my number ported over. This means no temporary service while they are porting. I called every other day to check the porting status. Every time they said it will be another 24 hours. Very annoying. I finally called on the right day and they got my voice and text services working. It took 12 days before I could send/ receive calls and texts. My data still doesn’t work. I called and they said the infamous… 24-48 more hours. Their customer service is a joke. All they can ever tell me is 24 (to 48) hours. I guess you get what you pay for.

love st got it 2 weeks ago samsung r451c. i cancelled my verizon contract paid the early termination fee and now instead of paying alittle over $100 monthly i pay 45 bucks actually around 47 but still a nice saving. i r451c i can check my email go on facebok and text like crazy. The only downside is there phones aint the latest tech but for me i dont really care about that cause it does wat i want it to do check email make calls and text. for some people they need the latest tech handsets and straight talk aint for you . And remember all cell phone carriers have bad reviews prepaid or contract . you cant satisfy them all. and as for the ring tones i have downloaded over 200 ringers from the net to my laptop then xfer them to the memory card works that way . i cant seem to get myxer.com to work it pauses on the download on the phone so i just download ringers to my comp/laptop and xfer them to my phones memory card. havent tried backgrounds but should work same as the ringers .

I thought this would have been a good choice but after be patient with customer service for ONE month and on my third Samsung r451c, the browser still does not work. The odd thing is, I got my wife one of these phones and her browser works. I can only assume that there is a problem with the Samsung phones. I have spent countless hours on the phone with customer service and they can never tell me what the problem is. I am now giving up on Straight Talk and either staying with AT &T which I have been with for 15 years and tired of there high prices or I will look for something else. I will say that the phone service seems to work very well with Straight Talk. I just wish they would resolve the browser problem.

DO NOT SWITCH TO STRAIGHT TALK!!! NO NO NO! Awful customer service. I am on DAY SIX of them porting my phone from Boostmobile. Every single day, if not 2 or 3 times a day, I call them to check on the status of my port, some CS reps say it will take a few hours for them to fix it, but most of them say call back in 24 hours. Its simply RIDICULOUS to TAKE a FULL WEEK to port over a phone number. None of the reps are in America. NOW they are telling me it could take up to TEN DAYS ARE YOU KIDDING ME! This is CS CELL PHONE HELL! I wish I could rate them as ZERO STARS!!!!!!!! TERRIBLE!

The low stars is because I don’t have the $30 version yet. Some of these complaints suggest they can’t get the website. Do both the phones ($30 and $45) feature web-browsing? I haven’t bought one yet. I plan to get an Atlanta # and buy my minutes in Georgia too though I’m never there. Don’t want to pay sales tax for them here. I won’t port this phone for fear of losing a snail phone number. But I’d hate to have to do it later, when they’d probably charge. I haven’t dumped my snail phone yet and don’t intend to immediately.

I am sorry to say that while their concept of the AT &T version of a prepaid plan looked good on paper it has been nothing but a nightmare for me. Regular Verizon when I had it was not a problem but this straight talk service was rolled out before they got all the kinks worked out obviously. As a couple of you guys above stated you get transferred to various countries where English is not the native language thus you can’t understand ’em…(i.e. Bogota, Columbia and all of India)!!! I had AT &T prepaid and got my phone cause my wife trying to save money got the Razor and gave me hers. I am patient beyond belief but their Cust. Svc has managed to get under my skin and that ain’t easy. Even if it worked for 99% of customers(which it doesn’t)success is based on how well issues are resolved with that 1%!!! Those of you who had no problems consider yourself lucky…luckier than me and all the rest!!! Straight talk if you look at these reviews you better get on the ball cause you’re gonna lose people to AT &T even though they cost more than you there’s alot less aggravation!!! Having lost my job and looking to cut back my piece of mind is worth 15 bux extra!!! When my card expires I AM GOING BACK TO AT &T!!! You may say good we want miss ya but on the contrary that’s why you got in the game to get a piece of the pie, but by rolling this out you did more damage than good…we don’t care where the call center is but we wanna be able to understand who we’re talking too…is that too much to ask for???

Cons: 1) Every call you make, whether or not it lasts for a full minute or just one second, counts as one minute of usage. So, you don’t actually get the full 1000 minutes paid for- bogus crap in my opinion. 2) Setting up voicemail is annoying, because you HAVE to go through every step: recording a personal greeting, etc. If all you want to do is set the pass code, then you’ll have to wait and go through the other options first. I tried to just set the pass code and, when I tried the voicemail, it started up with the full menu of options as if I hadn’t done anything yet. ALSO- the default pass code, before you set it yourself, will be either the last four numbers of your phone number or simply 9999 (something I only found out after calling tech support). 3) Every time you make a call, you have to listen to it telling you how many minutes you have left (instead of getting straight to the call). Pros: 1) No contract 2) Ability to replenish minutes by phone, online and with minutes card.

ST has impressed me so far. Ask yourself this question: What do you have to lose? It is worth a try! 1)Buy a phone at WalMart (can be returned 15 days after purchase). 2)Buy a $30 monthly plan (without cancelling your carrier-or see if it can be put on hold for a month). 3)Port your cell phone # over *via the ST website and calling CS* to get the status (it took me *about 1 day* & some carriers allow you to port it back within 30 days). I haven’t held for more than a minute when I call CS-and they correct any problems quickly. My coverage (making/receiving calls & texts) has been great. You will know within 15 days if it is worth it. I know within 2 days that it is unlikely that I will go back to the carrier I left. With more minutes (ST unlimited vs. current carrier’s 1400 shared ‘not including text’), my wife and I could save $500 a year!

The phone however had a problem connecting to the web and it took 3 calls to the support line over 19 days to correct the problem. On the third call, I decided to call during the morning (9am central) hours and that is when the best people were able to correct the issue. I switched from Tracfone to Staight Talk. Everyone in my family has been using Tracfone for about 4 years now and has been a good service. I found that ST is owned by Tracfone so I expected the same. I had the Tracfone Motorola W376g and bought the Straight Talk LG290C. Very nice features compared to my last phone! My daughter purchased the Samsung and besides having the keyboard, I was disappointed with the lack of features compared to my LG. She bought it just for the sake of the keybord, so she is happy with it. I had no issues transferring my Tracfone # to my ST phone. I like the ST plan better because I was paying $40.00 a month for 450 minutes with Tracfone, and now I’m getting Web, 1000 text’s, and 1000 minutes with the $30.00 plan from ST. The only issue I am having is getting ringtones and graphics from the ST website. I can log on and buy the latter, but for some reason they do not come through. I have purchased them and my bank statement shows I have been charged, but ST cannot seem to figure out why I have not recieved the ringtones and graphics. I have read some of the other reviews and have noticed some asking about removing the pre recorded message about time remaining when you place a call. (you don’t get this message with the unlimited plan). I called ST Corp To 1-800-876-5753 and they removed it in 2 minutes. Also, someone was asking about the word ‘Home’ on the main screen being removed. I also asked ST about this and they said it could not be removed because that is your status indicator that tells you if you are in ‘Home’ or ‘Roam’ mode. All in all, I am very pleased with ST and their customer service.

My whole family moved over to this plan to save money over ATTo T. So far we really love the phones, r451c, and everything works fine. The only problem was porting over grandmas phone (lg220), her number was entered incorrectly and they stole the number from someones active line! We got that cleared up after about 90minutes on the phone. The lady got her number back too (she had it for 10 yrs). I’m only giving 3 stars since they don’t have the best phone selection and the customer service, while not the worst, is not the best. They kept trying to get me to just buy another card to fix my problem..ugh. I’m just happy to be saving over 100 a month.

I can send/receive verizon customers text. But any other carrier i can only send and not receive. I called customer service (india which the people there had american names) which stated that there is a problem on verizons end with this specific issue i was having and there is a big meeting from verizon to work it out with the other carriers and the problem would be solved in a couple days. I find it hard to believe because she didn’t sound very convincing. I think it has something to do with my at &t number that i ported over. Did i hear someone here say just get a new number and the problem is solved? Anyone else having this issue??

This wireless service is nothing but bad. The most exspensive phone (99$) is not too user friendly. It’s hard to understand what people are saying. The customer service is horrible. You have to keep calling back for help if you have an issue. Straight Talk claims that it will transfer your number over from a different service. I lost my number in the process. I was told I will not get my number back because it was terminated. So I lost my phone number and the 33.00$ that I was told will not be refunded to me. There are no refunds for minutes even if your unsatisfied with service! Spend your money elsewhere! You get what you pay for!

Tell you what I did I called them every thirty minutes until they got me up and running. each call was to a different country. Now they cannot get my web to work. I get a message that reads ‘You do not have access’. Does anyone know how to not send your number when making a call on the LG 290C slider. My 20 dollar net ten phone would allow me to do that. Ordered the R451 at their website because the Walmart site said it wasn’t sold in stores. Of course the next day I actually went to a store and there it was, grrr! It showed up 3 days later and I did the activation thing including asking for my old number to be ported over from Virgin Mobile. That didn’t go very smoothly and required 2 calls to CS. So 2 days later everything was working fine and I was happy as a clam, finally I had a cell that worked everywhere I went! Then suddenly 4 days later I stop recieving text messages from anyone outside the verizon network. I was able to send them fine but not recieve (I tryed from Sprint, ATT, and VM phones). So I contacted CS and they of course blamed it on the ‘other phone’, I courteously asked them not to be ridiculous since I was certain that they couldn’t all be busted. They ‘escalated it to corporate’ and gave me a contact number. Well after 3 more calls , the last one 2 hours long, I gave up and got a new number. I have a funny feeling that the problem liesin Verizon’s system. The number I was using had started as a regular Verizon phone about 8 years ago, it was switched to Verizon’s pre-Paid service 2 years later and then switched to Virgin Mobile a year or so after that. It makes me wonder if there wasn’t some remnant of my old verizon info getting in the way. Any way they re-activated my phone with teh new number, including resetting my end of service and minutes back to as if it were a brand new account. Everything is working fine now , hopefully it stays that way!
