Just found out today from a Wal Mart associate that NEW and BETTER phones are coming out on March 24! It's going to be a Blackberry and a touch screen! Can't wait! So far I have had terrific service with this phone, however I will say that it is a BIT of a challenge to call customer service. BUT,,,, they are very nice and THEY do speak english, just with a bit of a accent!! 🙂 This is a great plan with a terrific price!

This cell phone carrier, is the worst I have ever had, it is part of tracphone, yet I have no service were i live, even thought my wife and daughter have tracphones that work with full coverage. Call to resolve problem was on the phone for 2 hours, they were to get back to me, no one called, i called them was on the phone for 1 hour, final response from them is your on your own. What kind of customer service is that.

Someone had told me that ST has 8 new phones coming out in 2010 (March, April, May, June). If you want to see them, just follow these instructions: www.google.com, ‘Straight Talk new phones 2010', click on the heading ‘Eight new phones in HTC Product Roadmap for 2010', then just scroll down to see them all. I have not found their prices yet. I may not want to know the price. detailer04To verizon.net

I just got the phone a couple of weeks ago. I didn't port my number because I wanted to test things while I still had T-Mobile (prepaid) through August. It's not as cheap as the prepaid was for me. But I got a better phone without having to play Craig's List tag (‘I have the phone,' then never being able to connect….'the phone is sold,' after agreeing to meet multiple times….no responses to emails or text, poor condition, stolen, bad ESN, etc), I don't have to keep track of expiration dates or how much time I have left, and I have access (poorly) to the web, which I didn't have on the T-Mobile account. I activated online and it was flawless. I called CS one time. That was turn turn off the annoying announcement before each call which told me how much time is left. I had no problems at all talking to JosĂ© (his real name). Five minutes and it was fixed. $30 a month gives me more time than I should ever use since I was using only a little over 1600 minutes a year on T-Mobile. I'll still withhold final judgment until I travel across the state in a couple of weeks (just after the refill). But so far I can only say it's all been positive.

I have had this service for about 2 months now and am very impressed with the service. The major pro's are no contract, verizon network coverage and great price. Con – The Samsung R451c is quirky. If you put the phone in quiet mode, it changes the ring tone back to the default ring, everytime. Even if locked, the phone will unlock itself unexpectedly; this makes it easy to turn off the phone when in your pocket. The buttons on the side are too easy to hit, causing me to drop calls. The R451c is pretty good for texting, OK for pictures but that is about it. Get Straighttalk for the great service at a great price but don't expect miracles from the telephone.

I'M VERY HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE. I DONT WANT AUTO REFILL. EACH MONTH I BUY A CARD FOR 30.00 AND MY MINS. TEXT AND WEB TIME ROLL OVER. ITS GREAT THEY DONT TELL YOU THIS !! MY QUESTION IS IF I DONT GO TO WALMART FOR A NEW 30.00 CARD CAN I BUY THE NEST 30 DAYS ON THE ST WEB SITE WITH MY VISA CARD FOR A 1 TIME PURCHASE WHEN MY NEXT 30DAYS IS UP. IM VERY GOOD ABOUT MARKING MY CALENDAR. ST TOLD ME MY MINS RUN OUT IF I REFILL AFTER THE TIME OF DAY I ACTIVATED MY LAST 30 DAY CARD. SO I WRITE DOWN THE TIME AND DATE ON MY CALENDAR AND NEVER MISS THE 30 DAYS. HAS ANYONE FOUND THIS EASY TO DO JUST BUYING YOUR MINS. FOR THE NEXT 30 DAYS THROU THE WEB SITE OR CALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE? THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR THE FEED BACK AND A SUGGESTION WHEN READING EMAIL USE THE VOLUME KEY TO SORT OF PAGE UP OR DOWN. IT SAVES ALOT OF TIME INSTEAD OF THE ARROW KET WHERE YOU HAVE TO SCROLL OVER EVERYHING. ALL THE BEST, DJ

I've had the Samsung R451c from Walmart for a few weeks now. The reception is terrible!!! If I want to actually talk to someone one the phone I borrow someone else's because I hear too much static on breaking up on mine. And I live in the city! Plenty of towers. I called customer service twice about this. The first time, whatever they did erased all my minutes. The second time I did get my minutes back but they could not fix the reception problem. They were nice enough, and yes difficult to understand, but just not knowlegable. Now I do like the it for texting. It's great! Fast and reliable. The mobile web is also very reliable. Nothing too fancy in it but better than what I had on my old verizon phone. Also, the camera does not have video or flash but takes pretty decent pictures. So if you like to actually talk on a cell phone this is not for you.

Cher, take your phone back to WalMart when your firt card is about to run out, they are supposed to warranty it for I believe 90 days. If you deal with ST about this, you will be dissapointed, they may ask you to send the phone in for repair…and you will need to keep it activated to keep your number. You will be paying for service an have no phone for 30 days. They make their money off the phones, and shorting you minutes if you call them to activate before your months is out, your new time starts on that day, not at the end of your month. I called yesterday about setting up web access and the site was having problems, they also never emailed me my password. No way to set up without calling them, better have an hour or more each time you need to call. What's with all the background noise when you call them? Are they all sitting shoulder to shoulder on a bench or something? Terrible sound while on hold, phone cuts in and out while on hold with ST. Does not do this, thankfully, on regular calls. If they ever get their customer service up to par this will be a decent service with expensive, cheaply made phones. May not stay if web won't work where I don't have to call them anymore.

At Alec Hey man I copy everything that you said in your review and paste is in mine because I like almost everything that you said in it. I have so much fun stuff that I can do with my Samsung Finnes, I don’t even have time to enjoy all of them. So, people, STOP Complain because remember, when you call Verizon, AT &T and T-mobile and the other big guys, off course you must find someone who speaks good English because YOUR money is enough to pay them. But, straight talk only charges a few bucks to gives you the same service that the other guys charge hundreds for, therefore, since you don’t have a contract with straight talk, GO BACK TO THEM if you like good customer service. Ok, let’s put it like that, which one is better: The service or the customer service? I think I like the service more than the representatives because I’ve been using the service for two months now and I don’t deal with their representatives. Therefore, I couldn’t like it less when I do the math: $45/month for unlimited everything, with now contract. I've been browsing through these reviews and I have to wonder what some of you are thinking. I've been using Straight Talk for coming up on 9 months now and I have yet to have any kind of problem. I've even had to call CS a number of times to sort out some minor issues that creep up with any cell phone provider, but again I have yet to have any kind of a problem. Sure, the folks on the other end of the line speak a little differently, but then maybe they say the same thing about us. I remember dealing with a major cell phone provider (post pay) many years ago now, and they all but destroyed my credit rating because they kept billing me AFTER I told them to disconnect the service, and AFTER my contract was up. But they kept billing me, and do you know what the American person on the other end of the phone told me? They told me that my business wasn't important enough for them to care or do anything about the charges. This was said in plain english, with no accent. Just think about how politely the person on the other end of the line asks you to repeat yourself, and try to put yourself in their shoes. They are paid to help you, and if you're irate, angry, miffed, etc., it makes their job a lot harder, and it gives the rest of us, who are trying to enjoy that low low payment of only $45/mo for unlimited everything, a bad name.

HI, I was just reading these post and woundering if you people ever call any other customer services??? Ummm they are no better….LOL called verizon the other day and the lady had no english skilld but I delt with it…I am switching to ST next month..My friend love the service..Got A Samsung slider with keyboard…I cant wait to pay $45 instead of almost $100…

After 3 hours tonight, got website to work and customer no service went ahead and activated next months service instead of just helping me set up web access so I could deal with them on the website…so I could understand them. Type is easier than broken language and lots of background noise. I lost 5 days of already paid for service just now and they dont care. ONLY use a credit card with these people so you have some recourse and if they gouge you something can be done with payment via the credit card company. Do Not use a debit card, they then have your money. Asked for a manager to resolve tonights problem 3 times, put on hold three times and disconnected from CS 3 times after being placed back on hold.
Consumer Review
Giving this company a 0 is even to good for them. When calling the customer service they do not speak english and they forward you to every department (which I have come to think its the person sitting next to them) They have no clue about their products and cant even simply activate a phone… The lady before me is sooo right.. They will not refund you any money for anything even if it is their fault… To think that products are sold like this in America and we have to try and speak to someone that can not even speak our language is messed up… I would never remcommend this service… GO TO BOOST!!!! For 5 dollars more a month for unlimited everything you get what you pay for!!!! If you are not sitting on the phone for over an hour and you actually get someone to fix your concern you are lucky!!

Starting with porting a landline number, ST CS could not fill out the port form correctly and took 9 weeks to port number. Finally Tracfone took over and the last 3 of the 9 weeks was handled by them, finally got a phone working. Now after 1 month of use, can't log on to the website, have to call customer noservice to get a password emailed to me. Email bounced back to them as they didn't get that right. Can't check end date as web site is down now. For 5 calls the last two evenings got a recording than no reps were available, and to call back later. Asked for a manager several times, got 2 out of about 12 requests answered, others put me back in que and then disconnected or got the same message that no one is available to take my call…meaning not on hold for manager but back in the initial que. CUSTOMER NO SERVICE is the word here. IF you activate early for the next month to not lose your number, you lose your remaining days. IF you wait until the last minute to get all your days in, you may run out of time and lose your number. If I was to do this again I would not port a number and I would buy a cheaper phone for talk and text only. Then if I had trouble I wouldn't worry about losing a number that took months to port. I could go on but who will bother to read this book! This phone was my wife's Christmas present…me? I use the house phone and net10, and text from yahoo.

Overall Ive had straighttalk for about 2 months and I have to say that I love it!! I've had the 45 dollar unlimited plan and Ive bought the lg slider phone and the full keyboard one and I loved the phones and the service. Ive had only one problem with the english speaking rep…He hung up on me when I demanded a supervisor! but since Im bilingual I decided to call back and talk to the hispanic reps instead and they resolved the problem!! Thank God there's spanish speaking people!!!

I have had my straight talk phone for about six months now. I have the slider phone with the keyboard. I have not had any problems at all with my phone or service. I have service everywhere and have had no problems getting on the internet. I use the internet daily on my phone. I've uploaded pictures and check my email. I also am able to get on facebook, myspace and shop. I have not tried to get ringtones or graphics for it so I have no comment on that. I love the phone and the service.

I had straight talk for 3 months, I was a complete supporter of this company until this month… I gave them 5 starts on every review I gave, and sought out places to advertise for them because I loved the company so much. Up until this month, there were no problems… starting about half way through the second month, and never ceasing in the third month, was a service problem… I feared problems with straight talk the most because they are incapable of fixing anything… all the reps are good for is activating your phone… thats it, they cannot fix any problems at all. So my service started getting really bad where I have full bars. It would be at full, and then drop to 0, and then raise back to full, and drop down to 0 again… It repeated this about 6 times in a period of 5 minutes and during this 5 minutes, i could not make or receive any call. If I was actually able to make a call, it would cut out constantly and eventually drop the call. It did this almost constantly through the 3rd month… It got unbearable… Also, I discovered that a microphone problem that I had been having was happening to many other people. I thought it was a phone problem, but after using a bluetooth headset, I discovered that the same problem existed. Someone else did the exact same thing… So it's a service problem… Straight talk ended up being a stress that I didn't like… I never knew whether or not my service cards would go through, or if anything was going to work… It wasn't worth it, and since cricket is going nationwide in the beginning of april, i figured it was a better idea to switch back to a company that has been open for 10 years, as opposed to a company who has only been around for mere months… Basically, if you have straight talk and if it's working well for you, then go for it. But be careful, because if any problems develop, you have no hope of getting them fixed… and you will have waisted your money…. Thats what happened to me

Customer service over the phone is the pits. No one you speak with is originally from America and they are all very difficult to understand. I was put on hold repeatedly. I was referred to a supervisor for simple issues. I was on the phone for a hour at a time every time I called. Now I need to add minutes online. I am trying to register an existing phone. There is not a location for that online and I fear I may have to make another phone call. Having a contract phone is almost worth the extra cost if you have knowledgeable ‘English' speaking individuals to help you.

Love everything about my LG290C Slider, but wondering why my battery life has become so short. I can only use it a couple times a day (pretty short conversations) and before the end of the day, my battery is dead. Anyone else having that problem? Also, can you buy a new battery at Walmart for these phones? I've downloaded a few ringtones to my pc, then transferred them to my phone using record audio. Pretty sweet to be free! (o: Would love to find a site that's REALLY free to download ringtones. I tried myxer.com but didn't work on my phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've had my phone for a month now and really like it. I have the 100.00 samsung quiry phone that I had to get if I was going to use it for texting. I've downsized from ATT and my wonderful blackjack. But paying 140.00 less a month was worth it. I have only used online to set up phone and pay for my monthly service, so I havn't had any problems with customer service. So worth the money.

Love the service and phone, but WATCH OUT WHEN YOU REFILL YOUR TIME! If you refill before your end date, you lose any remaining time you had left. No where on the website do they tell you this. I was ripped off by 15 days worth of time because I was trying to think ahead! Customer service will not refund your loss, or your time. They will not work with you even though they say nothing about it on the refill page! Trying to calm down about being ripped off! Learn from my pain:(

they have the worst phone service ever. i have purchase a straight talk phone thinking that i was getting a great deal for my money. they fail to tell the customer that everytime your time runs out you have to re-activate your phone and you don't get to keep the same phone number…..well i have never been so pissed off at any phone company before. the straight talk phone that i have works fine just the service sucks. they have de-activated my phone before it was expired and when i tried to re-activate it they said that they would have to re-activate with a new phone number. well i just got off the phone with straight talk (aka:verison) after being put on hold over and over again, 2 reps, 1 manager and 1 technical support….i kept getting tranfered to someone new untill i found myself yelling at everyone that had come on the phone with me. I spoke to 1 of the reps and asked for his manager and he refused to let me speak to the manager untill i threaten to blog on reviews about their services, the worst part is that most of the reps barely understand english which makes it really hard to get the proper help that is needed. what is funny is that the only one that did understand and spoke english clearly was the manager. so my advice to all who is interested in getting a smart talk phone ‘Don't Do It'. The worst of everything is that i can't use the phone for another 24 hours…if they don't fix my problem i will contact the head boss of verison to get this matter fix!

So far the Straight Talk plan has been wonderful! I have not had to call customer service once, which is fortunate because c.s. is -usually- hard to deal with (for all of you complaining of that). $45.00 a month for unlimited everything is WONDERFUL, and one of THE cheapest no contract plans you can get out there. I have the $45.00 phone at the moment, because I could not justify buying the $100.00 phone after spending so much on a look-alike from alltel before they completely screwed prepay customers over. The only thing I worry about is that they will change the plan eventually! Although the internet is clunky, that is to be expected, but is exellent that it is unlimited! For those of you complaining about losing minutes, this and that-READ THE FINE PRINT. I did my research before purchasing this phone and the minutes. When you activate your phone with minutes, it lets you know when your refill date is-which is the day BEFORE your account goes inactive. If you take the time to buy the card beforehand or auto-refill you should be just fine. Unlimited calling, unlimited texts, unlimited data? What's not to love? (And it's WAY better than old style TracPhone. xDD) And Whistlng Wizards ringtone ROCKS! <3

Please do not get this service my husband and I left boost and ported are numbers to them. We were told that we had great coverage but even at FULL bars it would drop the call. When I tried to get customer service it would drop the call we tried different phones of theres nothing. After 5 days we took one for the team and went back to boost. Then we learned they would not port the numbers back to us numbers we had for 3 years. Please be warned they suck there customer service sucks and we are out hundreds of dollars thanks to them. I could not be paid to switch to them again that bad.

Ugh! My ST Plan is about to expire and I didn't switch back to ATT or Verizon in enough time to get my number ported. Fail! Now I will have to pay ST more of my money just in order to keep my number active. The customer service is horrible. I've never had soo many dropped calls and undelivered text messages. I'm losing business because people cannot get ahold of me. The phones are out of date and Straight Up Crap. Please people, stick with a post-paid plan. This is the only way to get decent coverage. Pre-paid, across the board, is no good.

I would give less (stars) if that were an option. 16 days after moving my service to S.T. th brand new lg phone that I had purchased started to malfunction. First, half of the display stopped working, over the course of the next 48 hours there was a cascade of problems ( S.T. phone called my home phone every 5 to 10 minutes….. ON IT'S OWN ) that culminated with me contacting c.s. who let me know that I would need to send the phone back and it would be replaced WITHIN 30 DAYS……. 30 days folks……I now have had no phone for the 2 weeks. I know that when you hear the advertisements it sounds like a great deal folks…..I want to be crystal clear about this to you all. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU LEAVE YOUR CURRENT PROVIDER FOR STRAIGHT TALK. If your using carrier pidgeons I assure they are faster and more reliable than STRAIGHT TALK. Smoke signals, two cans and string…….keep them before you switch to STRAIGHT TALK.

Well, after having ST for 4 months and originally loving it, I have moved back to AT &T. Started with the R451c but found that the internet was too restricted and difficult to use. No big deal, I would just upgrade to the Finesse, right? Wrong. While the internet did work slightly better on HTML, I still couldn't access my work schedule, which is just a password protected regular page on the internet. A few other pages I needed either didn't load correctly or at all. I was previously on an iPhone before ST and was hoping the Finesse would be an adequate (although not expecting exactly the same)replacement so that I could save $$$. I think had I not had an iPhone before, then I would have loved the Finesse. The Finesse is just a shadow of the iPhone and the only real similarity is the touch screen, which is sluggish and not very responsive when you are typing on the virtual keyboard. It is very light weight, but that also makes it feel a little cheap in the hand, especially for costing over $300. It should cost less than $200 in my opinion. The mp3 player was great, and the video and photo quality on the camera was also really good. Then one day out of the blue, my phone stopped working even though I was on auto refill. When I called CS they said there was a system problem and I needed to refill manually with another card. No big deal because I only had 2 days of service left on my old card. They put me on hold and the call got disconnected. Called back in and got a different CS in a different country. Then this CS rep told me that I couldn't have my same number even though my phone was just turned of 3 hours prior. BS! I've had that # for a long time, but they told me it was unavailable and that they probably gave it to someone else and I was out of luck. After over an hour and a half on the phone I got no where so I hung up and went in to AT &T who were able to port my number over from Straighttalk. (ST DID still have it and hadn't given it away like they told me) I ended up taking the finesse back to Wallyworld and getting my money back as I had only had it for 3 weeks. As it worked out, the rest of my family just switched to AT &T a few weeks prior, so For $30data plus $5 for texting and $10 to add my phone ($45) I could just add my old iphone onto their plan. Since I pretty much only call the same 4 people and my immediate family, I just added these people to the A-list so we can talk to each other for free. I also only text a little so 200 texts/mo. is plenty for $5. I guess it depends on your situation if I would recommend ST. If you just need a phone to talk and not to rely on the internet part of it, then ST is ok. If you can afford to take the chance that they won't screw up your number, then ST would be fine also. If it is just only you who needs a phone and you aren't on a family plan and you use tons of minutes, then ST might make sense. If you have 4 people in your family who need phones and your usage isn't astronomical then a family plan somewhere might else might make more sense. ($30 all you need plan x 4=$120 which is competative with a lot of the postpaid plans out there) Just don't use auto refill with ST….go get the cards and top up when needed. And if you have anything somewhat complicated go wrong with your account, FORGET IT….CS can only handle the most basic of problems. That is why I left and I'm glad.

Bought the basic flip LG phone with the unlimited card. Couldn't understand the asian cs rep and they could barely understand me. After we finally got my account all set up, next month I went online to refill my service and the lady never gave me a user name or password for my account. Now I'm stuck going to Walmart (which isn't close) to get cards. Called them up and they have no idea how to help me. Phone service was good though. My apartment is a dead zone and I had 3 bars all the time, no cut off.

Hi! I just got the Samsung R451C Went to Walmart last night got the phone and went online while it was charging to register and yes, I took the chance to get my AT &T gophone number imported to my Straighttalk account. Regarding the phone:I was very impressed with the phone and all its features, I found out it could handle a 8G sd card for mp3 files which is the only type of audio file it can play and it can't play VDO files and the MP player is working very good, good sound. Today which was the next day I realized that my gophone was not working anymore, I was told at Walmart it could take up to 10 days to get the number imported so I was very low and I recharged it and was not working anymore this morning. But the Samsung was not working either after doing all I had to do last night. Since I had to go to Walmart, I went to see the girl who sold it to me, she took the phone and within3 minutes the phone was working 5 stars for Walmart. Very important thing also to know she told me that Walmart give 90 days satisfaction on the phone (Mountain Home Ar)This is all the Pros. Cons: The speaker and ring tone volume is absolutely mediocre. I had ring tones I had on my Moto Rzr and it worked perfect on the Samsung but I couldn't use them as alarm or other audio functions of the phones. As for the browsing and texting, I resent texting and browsing is more likely known to be real slow and limited but it works. So since it is a phone and the ringer and speaker are so disappointing I can only give two stars these are very important features for me. I got 90 days to return it … I wish somebody had a Samsung R810C that they wants to let go, so I could try it. Trust this could help.

For you people using the Samsung finesse, I just had a problem with my phone. I’m gonna share the experience with you. If you ever come across that type of problem, you can do what I did to solve the problem yourself without calling the customer service or technical support at ST. My phone responds slow when interring text or numbers. So I went to the phone settings option and selected NAM 2. The phone restarted itself and asked me for lock code. I put the code that I changed when I just got the phone. It doesn’t work. I put the last 4 digits of my phone number nothing happened. So, I called the customer service. The girl told me to do the same thing that I just mentioned and they did not work. She said that they gonna have to send me a replacement phone which made all the hair in my head stand up. She said that could take up to three weeks for me to get a phone. So, I said no, let me call Samsung for help. The lady at Samsung said I have to call track phone because they are my service provider. I said no I already talked to them and they were not helpful I only rely on your expertise. So she said I will give you a code to put on the phone. If it doesn’t work you will have to call them. So, she gave me: “6756”. The magic code worked and I have my phone back. When I asked her about the slowness of the phone she said you have to call track phone for this issue and ask to talk to a “level II technician”. So I took a chance to call them anyway. The person that I fount said that this is normal for touch screens phones to be slow. I also complained about the fact that my computer does not recognize the phone via the data cable. He says that all their “phones are not PC compatible”. Therefore, for you the finesse users, do you have those same problems: slow phone and/or not able to transfer files form PC to phone and vice versa? If yes please let me know. And if you know some tricks on how to enhance the speed of the phone, please share them with me and I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance, Paul.

I have had straight talk for a little more than six months now, and I am completely satisfied. Unlimited everything for $45 a moth? Why complain? Yes, the cs may be a little crappy but what service that has customer service isn't? I have the samsung slider and it's a perfect phone. I have dropped it literally over 100 times and it still works brand new? With any touch screen phone you're going to have a problem with it being a little slower than normal for its a touch screen and more apps are being added than normal. Yet, the touch screen phone is a phone I plan on upgrading to because my friend has one and it's perfect also! This is the best way to go if you want cheap month payments, unlimited plans, no contract and decent service!

I wrote a review two weeks ago. I gave ST four stars. My review has changed. It is now 2 stars and that is too low to stay. I will be leaving soon. My phone, which I praised before, is falling apart-literally. The keys are sticking and it froze on me three times last week and once this week. I had to remove the battery to fix the problem. Ok, I thought, I just got a bad phone, I'll exchange it. But then, I contact CS and that's where the biggest issue lies. Last review I mentioned the lack of decent support. Im a FIRM believer in good customer service. I work in customer service myself and know how important it is. I gave them a second chance, which they failed. Two weeks ago, I purchased a ringtone and wallpaper. Never recieved. Was told by CS they would issue a credit and open a case. Would receive in 24-48 hours. Never received. Two days ago, I called again. First time I spoke with someone who said they couldnt help me because I was using my ST phone to talk to them. I needed to use another phone. Ummm…I have no other phone! They need to realize that many people only use their cell. So, in other words, we get no help. Second call. The rep I spoke with said something about something blocking my phone to receive messages from ST. He said he unblocked it and I would receive the ringtone and wallpaper within the hour. Never received, and that was two days ago. Tomorrow I am talking to a supervisor and demand a refund. Their response will depend on whether I ditch them immediately or give them another month to give me time to speak to a T-Mobile rep. Never should have left them.

The hours of operation for Stright Talk porting is Monday Thru Friday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The customer service representative will not give you that information. They will only advise you to call back in 24 hours. The truth of the matter is the people who activate the ported number are off duty. They should tell their customers the truth so we don't call asking for an update regarding our phone services. The customer service department is untrained, unaware, and don't care.

I don't get the negativity, I bought the phone (Samsung R451C) Friday night, charged it Saturday, Activated it Sunday night with number portability from an AT &T account and the number ported just fine within a few hours; then I called and enquired, they were very polite and helpful and got me connected and verified everything in about 10 minutes. I am happy, I can now conference call without worrying about eating up my minutes and I am no longer chained to my desk for conference calls, call quality so far, is great, as I would expct from the Verizon Network. Thank you StraightTalk and Thank you Walmart and Thank you Verizon. And the phone features work as vertised, Thank you Samsung. $45 unlimited talk, text, internet, only feature I gave up (that I have noticed so far) that matters (sometime) is video. This phone is easier to use than my AT &T Tilt for core functionality.

For Pat Price Did you port your number via the ST website or through CS? See the comment just above yours re porting on weekends. I have a ST number but intend on porting another one over.

Really, the hardest part of my ST purchase was opening the blister package. I was loged on and making calls in about 10min., using online activation, limited only by my typing speed. I did have to call CS to have the ‘minutes remaing' announcement turned off, but he did that as we spoke. Local western PA coverage is same as my Verizon service, which I cancelled only due to the high monthly cost. The phone so far has proven to be very good, although not as fully featured as some. For a monthly savings of $30 or more, I can live with that.

I have heard the telephone system works well but getting them activated is a major problem. I attempted to activate my phone on 03/05/10. My former cell phone company released my number to be ported to my Stright Talk phone immediately (within two hours, thank you AT &T). My AT &T phone was deactivated at that time. I have been waiting approximately three days for my new Stright Talk phone to be activated but have met with negitave results. I have called customer service several times and the only advice they could give me is wait another 24 hours. I did not tell Stright Talk they had to wait an additional 24 hours before they could debit my bank account. I paid for the service and know I would like to recieve it. As for customer service it should be renamed customer ‘NO' service.

I feel for everyone having trouble, because I went round and round with Net 10 a couple of years ago, trying to port a number from Verizon and I'm not sure my blood pressure has ever totally recuperated. When porting a number remember you need to do it with a new service card pin # and do it by CALLING them. Even one of their CS reps told me NOT to do this online. Online might be OK if THEY assign a number to your phone. I spent a whole month trying out their cheapest phone with a number they assigned me to see if I liked it. I also kept calling CS at ST and AT &T asking many questions to MAKE SURE everyone knew what THEY were doing before I changed. I also don't have a job. Most people don't have the kind of time that I do to change carriers. I called straight talk and set up the port with a service card in hand. You shouldn't even have to call AT &T for ST to request your number, but I also had my internet service with them. AT &T are getting REAL familiar with their customers switching to ST. They really don't care that you are switching your landline because landlines are not the big business that they used to be anyway. I also had to call AT &T before I started all this because they had to give me a different number for my internet service. Someone had to come to my home to disconnect the landline # and activate a new number for my internet service.

I finally talked my mom into letting my get it i have the $100.00 phone and i absolutely love it. it took forever for me to get it acctivated because the ppl kept messing it up. but i have my same number which was under at &t and is now switched over. The price is amazing i get everything unlimited for only $45 dollars every 30 days thats great compared to $25 dollars a week because i kept running out of mins. on my cell old cell phone, I am very happy and i enjoy my cell phone!, the only down side i have to it is that when i tried to get ringtoens it said i had no mins which wasent ture cuz i had unlimited everything, but i guess i have to have actuall mins on the phone to do that, idk i will find out in a few months, but all i know is that i love this phone and the price is great Straigh talk is one of the best and i didnt even have to have someone sign a contract i love it!!!

FOR: SanDiegoJeff Straight Talk phones do not roam. They will work ANYWHERE in the U.S. where there is a Verizon OWNED cell tower within range of the phone. They don't work on the entire Verizon network, just on the Verizon owned towers. So the C/S rep told you wrong. I've had ST for about 2 weeks and so far it has worked everywhere I've been except a small area in Md and WV on I-81. The service seems to be no better or worse than the Verizon phone I used previously. For the money I am saving I am very happy with the service. People need to realize that regardless of the phone or carrier, somewhere, somebody is going to have a problem with one or the other. We're talking about cell phones for crying out loud. When somebody tells me not to buy something because THEY don't like it, well I'm more likely to buy it anyway. And I won't name anybody specifically but some of the comments and questions posted here are just idiotic.

So, with regard to signal coverage. My parents bought their phone in Bonita Springs, Florida and when calling Clarkston, Michigan I've never had an issue with dropped calls or even a ‘bad' signal. They landed in Hawaii today and called me with crystal clarity. Just thought I'd pass that along if anyone is thinking of purchasing a phone in these areas.

To ScottPhxAZ You might want to update your PRL (*22891). It may be that Verizon has updated its tower listings in your area. Another person said the same thing and had his phone software updated apparently by CS. Shortly thereafter that person reported his number was terminated – no apparent reason. Try the PRL update and see if that helps. I and others would appreciate your inpute with success or lack with the PRL update.

I am so glad that ST has CS reps who know what they are doing. Every time I called they answered my call quickly. I admit that they are like robots and slow, but they speak good English, if you give them respect. Don't let their strong accents fool you, they are smart cookies. Don't be afraid to say ‘Say that sentence again'. They understood everything I said. I ported my (AT &T) landline over to ST last month and it took a couple of days after AT &T released the number. Once your landline stops working, it shouldn't take more than a couple of days for ST to have the number for your new phone. I did this by spending the time necessary with CS on the phone. I was scared to do this on their website. The words UNDER CONSTRUCTION kept appearing on their web page. I also ported a Net 10 cell # to ST and 10 minutes after I hung up talking to CS my number was ported. When they give you a ticket # don't loose it, in case your port doesn't go as smoooooth as mine did. I was very nervous about trusting them with my precious phone numbers, but I was pleasantly surprised. Don't be afraid to call them when your phone service is disconnected from your other carrier. That means they have your number and can port it. Get your ducks in a row with the company you are switching FROM so there won't be a delay in releasing your number. The phones may not be high end but they get the job done and you will be so proud of yourselves to be receiving unlimited minutes for only $45 a mo. You do have to go online (or call CS) to type in your pin from the card you buy from Walmart. I'm not comfortable having it automatically deducted each month yet, so I'll be setting an alarm in my phone to remind me of the date for refill. If you are a busy person you may want the automatic deduction done for you so you won't have to remember to add a pin # each month. I would buy the 220C from Walmart around the corner. There are other phones you can order on Walmart's website that would be better for texting. For some reason they don't have them in the stores. If you buy the 100 you won't have browser or external caller ID and it's only $10 less. I have noticed that the phones need to be charged more often (after long conversations), so make sure you get a car charger extra.

The service was good for approximately two months until the phone showed ‘no Service'. Three different trouble shooting phone calls could not resolve the problem. They were courteous at all times and sent a prepaid envelope to return the phone for repair or exchange. Since I had already been without phone service for several days I did not want to be without service any longer. It took three days for them to port my number back to my previous carrier. I finally selected Verizon and it took them less than a half hour to port the number over to their service. I have a brand new phone that works well and local support is available if I need it.
