Not sure why many complaint; I’ve been a member for 6yrs and replace a few phones without any trouble transferring the number and the airtime. Better signal than wife’s T-mobile service. Best deal on prepaid cell phone service!

THe service is awful. It took 8 calls to get it set up correctly. They do not speak or understand english well. I would NOT recommend this phone just because of customer service.

CS from India would be fine if I could understand them, or if they understood the product instead of reading from a script while remaining clueless. They get testy when I ask them to repeat things. I state the issue precisely, and they read a script that has a couple of the same words in it. They have no real understanding of the product or service.Cost of phone & airtime: excellent.Internet set-up of service & transfer of existing Tracfone #: Did not work; kept telling my existing number was not valid.Owner’s manual: 2 meager pages, lacking much basic information. Similar Samsung phone from T-Mobile has a 144 page manual.

I imagine that in order to make their prices so low they cut a few corners, and one of them is CS. With this in mind I’ve always been happy with my experience with them. I use my Tracfone as a backup and for the amount I use it there is no cheaper way to have a cell phone, such a great deal.

I was really hesitant about going with prepaid, and with Tracfone because of all the stories I’d heard about terrible CS etc. I have to say that so far I’ve been really happy, I haven’t had any problems that weren’t resolved quickly (all fairly minor though). And as advertized, its really cut down on my cell phone costs each month (about half). Good experience all around.

Don’t waste your time with Tracfone’s monthly ‘Value Plans’. It’s ok to use the prepaid ‘service’ (or lack thereof); however, the phones are disposable. The Tracfone customer ‘care’ center is another waste of time. The representatives can’t speak english, and the background noise and interference will drown your supposed technical support. Be prepared to dump your telephone number, like a bad habit, when upgrading to a more competent service provider. The phone number is non-transferable, and not worth the headache. Good riddance.

First I’d like to point out that the information listed for placing international calls is out of date. Calling internationally is just like dialing from a landline now, and charges to 150 countries are the same as domestic charges. Now my review: I’ve had fairly good success with TracFone’s service. Calls are not dropped and sound is clear. Customer service is greatly variable. Until recently, service calls were routed to a call center in India, and I found the people there to be quite helpful, working with me on issues until they were resolved. Now it seems that there is a call center in the US. I called tonight regarding minutes not received on a value plan and the representative with which I spoke kept insisting that their records stated that my minutes had been credited to the phone. Perhaps so, but my phone was not registering the minutes and this person did nothing to help resolve the problem. If they do not appear within the next 24 hours I will be lodging a complaint with a supervisor and will give serious consideration to changing providers.

have had tracfone for 10 years or so.. the calling service has been fine.. HOWEVER, do not EVER try to download a ringtone or ANY other purchase from tracfone.. as i have read.. their customer service is anything but….the download never appeared on my phone, and the minutes WERE deducted from my phone for the purchase.. BUT tracfony ‘customer service’ would NOT refund the minutes used for the purchase.. will be switching soon… CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NON-EXISTENT……CAVEAT EMPTOR !!!

I bought a Tracfone. Great price. But terrible customer service. Yes you can reach someone and they are very polite but incompetent. I’ve been trying to get my voice mail up and running for 5 days and have spent at least 10 hours on the phone with their technical support team and I’ve gotten NOWHERE.Lesson learned: when it’s too good to be true, it is!

I have had my Tracfone for over a year. Just after the one-year warranty expired, it no longer showed the service bars. I could neither make nor receive calls or texts. The next day I called customer service and spent a near hour with them, to no avail. The website didn’t fix anything. Today I talked with them for over two hours, only to have them tell me at the end of the conversation, that there was nothing they could do and I would have to buy a new phone. I was disappointed in their customer service, and the speed of their help. I am changing companies.

My family has been with Tracfone for over 10 years and our experience has been positive. Their low-cost plans are perfect for occasional or moderate users. Call quality and reception have never caused us any problems. Customer service is a big of a drag (wait time, imperfect English) but the reps I have spoken to have been courteous and ultimately got the job done. Their phones are practical and reliable but nothing fancy. You get what you pay for, and for Tracfone’s budget-friendly price I would consider their service to be a fair and affordable deal.

I’ve had Tracfone happily for years…then I had a problem…when I added minutes the phone would not activate. I called & talked to people all over the world who would probably be able to sell me a phone but were obviously unable to help with a problem. I repeatedly asked for someone in the USA and finally got transferred. The lady fixed the problem & told me that since I had no signal where I was that I should check it next time I got to a signal & I would have the time extended for the almost two weeks it took to get activated. Then I started the round of people in many parts of the world with no success getting the expiration time changed. They told me they could not transfer me to the USA and when I finally got the supervisor’s supervisor the woman just kept repeating that the phone was activated on the 25th & she couldn’t see where it was activated on the following 8th. Then she went on a long, hard to follow, recap (the phone line was terrible & she kept fading in & out…is that irony?) so I said…cut to the chase, are you going to fix the expiration date or not? She said she couldn’t change the date but she would TRY to see if I could be compensated for the time I had no service. Admits on one hand that I had no service & says I did on the other. Told her to never mind, I was online while holding & find there are a lot of options to Tracfone.Tracfone service is the WORST, had the service been better I’d still be a customer.

Zero stars for this company! I just finally hung up after wasting 2 1/2 hours talking to 4 different customer service reps, the last one repeatedly putting me on hold while he tried to reach yet another rep, so he could process my phone return and credit. The Samsung slider I ordered was non-functional. I was unable to place any calls (kept saying ’emergency calls only’), and would not hold a charge. The replacement phone they sent me was a refurbished LG that didn’t even have a camera. When I called customer service they insisted it was a comparable phone. 3 of the 4 reps were very difficult to understand, and 2 of them accidentally cut me off. I chose this company after researching several prepaid companies, but I’m not sure how they have any satisfied customers at all!

At Best these Phones and service is C-R-A-P.Judging from all the background noise, it seems their customer service opperates out of the main concourse in a Bangladesh train station, which is the only reason I can come up with for having to repeat such a ridiculous amount of information over and over again… Perhaps their goal is to frustrate you to the point that you just hang up.There is a difference between being a value and being just plain cheap CRAP.Trac Phone takes your money, gives you crap and sends American customer service Jobs overseas to unhelpful morons.NEVER AGAIN!!!!

My daughter and I both have tracfones. Most inexpensive of all the prepaid even prior to the double minutes for life campaign. Never had a problem with coverage, customer service is fine, had a slight problem accessing the web last time we got new phones; it took them a while to fix it, but they loaded us up with lots of free minuted for our trouble. My husband has been with nextel & t mobile w/tons of problems & they’re more expensive. Could have better phone selection, but I’m not complaining.

Horrible customer service! I asked them to activate it the next day when my verizon contract ran out, but they activated it that day! Now I have to pay verizon $75 for early termination. I tried to explain to customer service what had happened, but all he said was ‘Your phone is activated’ about 5 times! It reminds me of the commercial ‘This is Peggy!)

After three years with Tracfone I am leaving. We bought a phone for our son for Christmas. It came with unlimited double minutes. We activated the phone then entered a 60 minute card. We waited over three hours for the minutes to double and they didn’t. We called tech support and after 30 minutes of punching codes into the phone we got the minutes. Several days later a friend informed him that his phone was not working because he had tried to call him and got a message about his voice mail not being set up. We attempted to set up the voice mail but were informed that the phone needed to be re-activated. We called tech support again and were informed that someone had transferred the minutes to another phone and that we would have to call back in the morning because the department that dealt with that was open only from 8 to 6. We called back and had to explain the whole thing over again. After about 30 minutes we were informed that the department was closed for the holidays and we would have to call back on Monday. I called on Monday and spent over an hour on the phone only to be informed that they believed that we had transferred the minutes ourselves. After being routed to three different people it became clear that they were not interested in helping the customer, only protecting themselves. I will never use Tracfone again.

Love tracfone! They may have some older phones, that’s true, but if you’re a tracfone customer then you’re there for the price, you can easily get away with spending like 20 bucks a month with Tracfone and still not have to deal with a two year contract.

I purchased the Trac Phone and it quit working after two days. I called customer service, which is in India and couldn’t understand what the person was saying. I called back three times trying to get someone who spoke enough English to communicate. They told me that there was no longer any warranty on my phone because it was in the store too long before it sold. They said I need to purchase a new phone. I’ll try a different company this time.

It’s the last day of the year and I’m making my wishlist for 2011. And it includes tracfone. Not all good for tracfone, but that’s cause I want better than 2010. There wasn’t anything real bad, but if it’s the one thing I’ve seen happening is that in the fray of everyone getting hyped about smarter phones, tablets, and unlimited plans, the little people who don’t make a lot of use of their mobile phone, are getting lost, and the only company taking any notice is tracfone. Which is why I’m with tracfone. They’re the only company that can offer me nationwide coverage, really small, and cheap plans, and handsets that are so cheap I can’t really attach any value to them as they’re that easy to replace. But with no other company trying to edge them away from their pole position as prepaid wireless provider for the small-users, it’s unlikely to be getting any better, or cheaper. So that’s my cellular wish for 2011 – for another two companies (at least), to start making inroads in the tracfone prepaid supremacy.

I’ve had Tracfone for more than 5 years and have not had one single problem with the phone (a Motorola Flip phone with double minutes)or the service. You can purchase minutes in a number of ways and I’ve not had a problem with adding minutes Via buying them on the internet, in a store on a card, or through the phone itself. I’ve never had to use customer service, but from reading these complaints here, many of them seem to be pretty unique problems that I doubt any other prepaid service would be able to handle easily. Your investment is minimal and seriously people, how many companies actually have customer service reps in the US, all the big telecoms outsource most of the customer service, and they charge considerably more than any prepaid plan. A rule of thumb is not to buy the cheapest phone from any vendor and expect it to last, that’s just common cents. But that’s just my 2 cents and with double minutes that’s about what my minutes cost, and I have no contract and have never been without service, or the aggravating billing (with the extra taxes and hidden costs from the telecoms).

I have been a TracFone customer for at least 7 years. I like it because you don’t have to pay extra for the days you use it, like some other pre-paid plans do. Yes, the customer service people are usually in some other country, so it might be a challenge to talk to them. But I’m used to listing to people with accents, so it wasn’t a problem for me. If you can’t understand them, you might try to ask to speak to someone else. Yes, it takes a little time, but they are through and they make sure that they hear you correctly so they don’t mess up your service! I’ve never had anyone be rude to me. I have had a few challenges, but most often because I didn’t understand what I needed to do. Here are a few tips. (1) do your homework and figure out what features you want in a phone before you buy one; that way you’re not disappointed; (2) if you buy a phone with double minutes, it might be better to call them to activate the phone rather than online. (just a guess…I’ve never had that problem and activated my double minutes phone online.) (3) if you are buying a in the store, check online first to make sure that the model you want to purchase can be used in the area you want to use it in; for instance, if you are buying a gift someone, make sure the one you want to purchase in the store will work where they live. If not, you won’t be happy because you will have to buy a different phone! (4) if you bought a new TracFone to replace your old TracFone, DO NOT activate your new phone. If you do, you will only delay the process because they will have to send you a new SIM card. Just call them and they will activate your new phone and switch over the number at the same time. My daughter just bought a AT&T go phone, so we will see how hers works out compared to mine!

Was seriously not sure if I was doing the right thing getting my mom the Tracfone Senior Value Cellphone-was this going to cause extra hassles with her connecting to the net by mistake, or a hundred times of explaining basic concepts or worse still, her wanting to know my every move! 🙂 Well, I couldn’t have been more surprised at how well she adapted to it. The Samsung has the easiest navigation menu and large text, so she can see for herself exactly what’s on screen. The minutes remaining are displayed on screen, and all I do is check in with her if she still has enough. She doesn’t bug me, cause now she can call her friends and meet up when they’re out on a jaunt! The best part for me is not having to study her bill and explain what the costs are for as there is no bill (or contract). Coverage seems to be good-I’ve never had a problem reaching her. All round, a service that to me would be worth far more than the +-$10 it costs me monthly. Well worth looking into.

I was tried of contracts and too expensive phones so it was nice to lower my bill, avoid a contract, and purchase a new phone for under $60. For me, maintaining a budget so I’m ready for the holidays is a big plus.

Great phone, long-time customer. Their tech and customer service is offshore, but once you get used to them and even trust them they are superb. (I once helped one fix his computer (access Task Manager in XP) so he could help me, and he was totally cool.) Even if you lose your temper with the offshore ones, they still will help you — very professional people. Excellent coverage even upstate NY, even in the mountains; very fair pricing; cheap phones; reliable texting etc. I have ported over numbers etc. and it always works. I lost some minutes somehow and they credited them — even when I was a little ‘hot under the collar’ with them. totally easy to replenish minutes on the website. Cheap re-plenishment plans. Can’t say enough good about Tracfone — they saved me from those contract crooks that I previously used — all the big ones. Lost a lot of $$$ until I got Tracfone!!!!!

So my car breaks down 30 miles from anywhere. I pop the hood, and stand there next to the road feeling like a fool – I know no more about the workings on the inside of a motor, than I do about genetically engineered wheat types…of which I know nothing. Quite naturally, I go through the normal notions of, it’ll fix itself if I stare hard enough, and then deal with the denial that I’m actually going to need help. Once I dealt with the denial, I reach for my iPhone, a wonderful resource of technology, that if not restrained by the shackles of the phone embodiment, it would probably be able to fix the car itself. Yet again, I was foiled. The clever iPhone, with more memory, and speed than ever before, could not be persuaded to get off it’s proverbial tech savvy backside to go get some reception. So, see me pacing up and down the road, occasionally giving a little jump, to see if maybe there is signal one foot higher than myself (you never know). Fortunately for me, an old ford dating back to the days of the first great recession splutters around the corner I just negated. A heavily wrinkled face, stained by years of obvious toil in the sun (with matching red veined cheeks – the mark of a man with a deep appreciation for home-brew), greeted me with a lazy slur. Well, apart from pointing out the very obvious, I also noted my deep disappointment at my iphone’s performance. The man asked to see my phone, as he said he’s heard of this iPhone business. He turned it over and over in his grizzled hands, shaking his head in amazement; “And this is a phone?”. Well, supposedly. I replied. Quietly I was cursing Steve bloody Jobs for putting me in this deprecating position. Pete (as it turns out), then reached for his glove compartment, making me do all kinds of mental calculations (all of them including covering a lot of distance in as short a time as possible), and passed me his phone. It was a normal cellphone that still looked very new, and had the Tracfone logo on the cover. It had four bars of reception as I made the call for roadside assistance. And that was that problem sorted out, along with a message that I was going to be rather late for the meeting. I thanked Pete profusely, and bestowed on him the wonderful virtues of what makes this country great. Much later, sitting at a diner heavily involved with some serious deliberation, I vowed to get myself a Tracfone too.

I was most excited when fedex arrived at the door with my short awaited iPhone. For months I have been deliberating the big step into cellular seriousness. My business is growing by the month, and the better business was alienating me more and more from my usual home office, and desk top computer. My justification was having the office with me all the time. I recall, after having activated the phone for the first time, and sat down to truly appreciate, and play with my new phone, I took out my trusty old lg 290 from tracfone, and laid it on the table out of the way. It stayed there, to much wifely admonishment, for two days before I ungraciously shoved it into my bedside drawer. Not for long however…After two weeks of battling along with my brand new iPhone’s talking quality, I grudgingly delved back into the recesses of that bedside table for my old lg. It actually still had minutes on it. But I took it with me to the office, and am carrying it with me still. Two cells are certainly more bulky than one, but having a working mobile office phone is well worth it. And a lot less bulky than my desk.

I’ve been a customer of Tracfone for 12+ years and had not experienced much difficulty (six calls to get a phone activated, etc.) until the most recent phone I purchased. While the website indicates it is simple to transfer your existing number and service to a new phone, this was not what I encountered. It took well over a month for the number to be switched over. In the past five months, the phone has just stopped working three times. No calls in or out, no texts in or out; it simply ceased to be a communication tool. The past two times required multiple calls over multiple days and endless ‘Can I put you on hold for three minutes?’ I haven’t called about the most recent one, discovered yesterday, because I don’t think I have it in me. There’s never an explanation of why these problems occur, so perhaps whatever is going on could be avoided. I want to like the company, because it is quite affordable for the occasional user, but I just can’t take anymore.

About breaking strains, winter tensions, and how to hide a horse in a haystack, I learned the importance of knowing what ‘nationwide’ coverage meant. With tracfone it means ‘nationwide’ coverage. That includes all different types of networks, and I’m sure if tracfone could, they’d include radio waves to their coverage. But choosing a tracfone that operates on the at&t network, and you’re a rail worker, you’re not going to be impressed. If, on the other hand, you chose a phone that runs on the verizon network, you would be happy. I’m not entirely sure why this is. Maybe because verizon is larger, and has more towers, or maybe the type of signal just carries further, and better. It’s not always right that way. If you were, just staying in the city, I don’t think it matters. But for me being out and about – CDMA.

I bought my dad a Tracfone. I thought it was going to be fine for him. The first one just stopped working completely. I then bought him another one and after about 6 months, the buttons stuck on it. My dad called customer service and couldn’t understand the girl he talked to. He asked if they could send him a new phone since this was his 3rd phone and didn’t feel his he or his son should have to pay for another one. They refused to send him a new phone. That was the end of Tracfone for him. I purchased Boost for him and it has been really great and he loves it. No more having to buy minutes and you absolutely cannot beat the cost. Boost is really a great phone company that was recommended by one of his neighbors who has been using Boost since their beginning. Tracfone – you and your customer service stinks. Your customer service people were rude to my elderly father and spoke so fast he could hardly understand them. WAKE UP AND GET SOME DECENT CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS. Also, my dad tried to speak to a supervisor but the woman on the phone refused to transfer him. The same thing happened to my dad’s neighbor and that’s why he changed phone companies. We’re happy now with Boost and they have great customer service.

THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE WORST EVER. YOU HAVE TO BEG TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR. MY WIFE WHO HAS BEEN EXTREMELY ILL FOR THE PAST 2 YRS LET HER PHONE TIME EXPIRE IN JULY OF 2010. SHE HAD 1,020 MINUTES LEFT ON IT. SHE EXPLAINED TO THE PERSON SHE SPOKE WITH. THE FIRST WOMAN SHE SPOKE WITH AT TRACFONE TOLD HER THAT HER MINUTES WOULD NOT BE CARRIED OVER. SHE EXPLAINED SHE HAD BEEN CRITICALLY ILL FOR THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS BUT SHE WAS STILL TOLD NO. SHE HAD TO BEG JUST TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR. THE FIRST SUPERVISOR TOLD HER HE WOULD GO AHEAD AND CARRY THE MINUTES OVER. SHE HAD A TRACFONE THAT WAS BROKEN WHICH HAD 240 MINUTES ON IT WHICH WERE NEVER CARRIED OVER TO THE NEW ONE SHE BOUGHT SO SHE HAD LOST THOSE TOO WITHOUT REALIZING IT. HE WANTED THE SERIAL # FROM THE BROKEN PHONE AND WHEN SHE WENT TO PLUG IT IN, SHE ACCIDENTALLY HIT A BUTTON THAT DISCONNECTED THEM. SHE CALLED BACK AND ONCE AGAIN SPOKE TO ANOTHER SUPERVISOR WHO WOULD NOT TRANSFER TO THE FIRST SUPV. SHE SPOKE TO. AFTER EXPLAINING THE ENTIRE STORY ONCE AGAIN, HE REFUSED TO CARRY OVER THE 1,020 MINUTES SHE HAD ON THE PHONE THAT THE TIME HAD EXPIRED ON. WE WILL NEVER, EVER AGAIN USE TRACFONE. THEY PUT THE 120 MINUTES FROM THE NEW CARD SHE HAD BOUGHT AND THAT WAS IT. MY WIFE WAS LAID OFF FROM HER JOB OF 26 YEARS WHEN SHE WENT ON LONGTERM DISABILITY AND IS ON A FIXED INCOME (YES, SHE WAS A CUSTOMER SVC SUPV. FOR 28 YRS WITH THE SAME COMPANY) SO SHE KNOWS A LITTLE ABOUT IT. I INVESTED EVERYTHING WE HAD IN A BUSINESS THAT FAILED SO IT ISN’T LIKE WE HAVE MONEY TO REPLACE THESE MINUTES. I JUST WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW THIS AND PLEASE WHATEVER YOU DO – DO NOT USE TRACFONE

Tracfone is, and has already been a very wonderful product and service to me, and my family over the years. To date, it really has been the only wireless provider that has kept small margins, and small plans to the public at large. No other provider seems at all interested in the small users. The whole mobile market seems to be inundated with massive, large scale cell phone users, that are only interested in unlimited plans, and mass consumption.Personally I don’t want to see myself, or anybody in my family to spend that much time on a phone. Secondly, I can’t afford those real big, real cheap (!?) plans.More often than not, I suspect what happens is that people get the unlimited big plans before they actually need them, and then shape their phone needs around the plan, as opposed to shaping the plan around the needs.

I have been pretty happy with Tracfone. Whenever I’ve had any kind of problem or question they have been helpful on the phone. You have to be patient with their operators who speak English as a second language and want to follow their script. Would you rather do that or be screwed every month by Verizon? I am an adult and use my phone only when I need to talk to someone when I’m not in my office. I spend about $120/year on my Tracfone vs. what would be $480/year with Verizon or ATT.

Why can I not put NO STARS for this crummy parent company of Common Cents and Net 10? They have liars for supervisors, it has been five days since I asked to have my number ported from CC, and STILL no phone! The CC service has expired because of the pre-paid minutes ending yesterday, and Net10 blames it all on them! There is NO DISCLAIMER on the outside of the box saying it can take up to 10 days to port. (Is this where Net (10) is named from?

Tried to enter pin # for 120 min phone card. Would not accept pin:( Back to cust. service, put on hold for 30-40 mins. at which time I hung up. I think i’ll quit while i’m ahead. Too much trouble. They tell you this is the most simple phone system out there. Maybe if you never have to deal with cust. service. Wish I would have found this website before wasting my time. Garbage. Forget it!!

Just like many of the other people on this list….I sure wish I had found this website before I bought a Tracfone. Their customer service is the absolute worst I’ve ever seen. I’ve been on hold with them for over 2 hours on 3 different occassions regarding the same problem and still do not have it resolved. I needed to reactivate my current phone, keeping the same phone number but when I bought a new airtime card, they said I couldn’t reactivate the phone because it had been deactivated too long ago. So what happens with the money spent on the airtime card they made me buy to reactivate? It’s down the toilet, cannot be transferred to a new phone. Then they said they would check with a ‘special department’ to see if the could reactivate the phone but they’d have to call me back in 24 hours to let me know. (I honestly didn’t expect them to call me back) They called back and said I was good to go. RIGHT! They lied, it isn’t on. Now when I call back they are telling me I have to buy another airtime card because the one I have is ‘not valid’. I feel stuck because tracfone is one of the only two choices we have in the area we need service in. This is a horrible company that could care less about you so if you haven’t purchased a Tracfone yet, DON’T DO IT!

Awful customer service, it takes literally hours to get things done. I lost my first phone and they said I could buy another phone and transfer my minutes and number to the new phone. I was asked if I wanted to deactivate the old phone, just in case it was actually stolen. I was assured that my number and minutes would go to my new phone. I bought a new phone, it was a reconditioned phone. I thought I was buying a new phone. Just a warning, some of the reconditioned phone state that they are reconditioned in tiny print. It took 5 hours of fighting with customer service and I only got ½ my minutes and they had given my old number to someone else! I think when my minutes run out I’ going with a different company.

I disagree that the customer service with Tracfone is good. Having been with Verizon for 8 years, there is no comparison. I only switched to Tracfone to save $. I also do not agree that their phones are easy to use. They are not user friendly or intuitive. My verizon phone was so old and was a zillion times better than this new tracfone is. I would love to find another pay as you go and ditch Tracfone.

This is the worst company I have ever done business with. Customer service calls were always hours long. My phones were puchased via the internet and were delivered separate from their sim cards. Upon installation the cards got mixed up. Not only was Tracfone not able to fix this but they told me I should just live with the problem. I did until it came time to add more minutes. The confusion and problems ended with my phone being deactivated because ‘I tampered with the SIM card’. They said I could get my phone # and minutes if I bought another phone. I resisted but after many customer service calls, hours on the phone, and even a letter to the company, I gave in and bought another phone. Then after another hour+ customer service call they told me I couldn’t get my phone # because they had already given it away. Then they said I couldn’t get my minutes transfered to the new phone because my old phone was deactivated. This was they opposite of what they had been telling me. I have found no way to get a satisfactory response from this company, and believe me, I’ve tried!

I’m one of the millions that doesn’t need a smarty business phone. Granted that I’m not carrying a phone for business purposes, and more for domestic contact. My major concern is with the entire wireless market’s, neurotic tendency to selling masses of unlimited to as many people as possible. Being a small user, I get the strong feeling that I’m being overlooked. I’ve been using tracfones for years now. If only because they seem like the only company interested in offering me a small plan, and a cheap phone. Being the only company competing for my buck, is not a good thing. To tracofone’s credit I’ve never experienced bad service, reception, or a dudd phone. But if this be the case, where they’re the only one in a particular market, then I’m quite certain that being a part of that market, life will not become any cheaper in the near future.

Those who say that Tracfone has the worst service understate things. Tracfone has no service. They have DISservice. Their reps are skilled at leaving you on hold, transferring you to someone else who won’t help, telling you that the person you need isn’t available now and to call back later … lots of tricks. BUT they never are rude. They just never ever give you actual service. If you want to upgrade and transfer minutes to a new phone, you will be frustrated. If you lose a phone and want to get the lost minutes to a new phone, you may as well run your head into a door repeatedly. These people take bad service to an art form.

They are from South America and they do not speak clearly.I bought minutes over the internet and put the in an wrongphone number. All I needed was to have the minutes removed from the wrong number and added to the correct number. After 1 and 1/2 hours I still did not get the situations straigtened out. They assured me that within 24 hours they would fix the problem, will see. In the meantime I ordered again online and got minutes. Probably the most important things regarding getting a tracfone:You’ve got to know what network will suit you best. I travel quite a bit, and out of previous experience, I’ve come to trust the CDMA network far more than the GSM network. Having said that, it’s a bit of a juggle as to which you want to commit to. The CDMA network will give better coverage over a wider geographic location, but you’ll get charged double minutes if you’re roaming. Alternatively, if you choose GSM, you’ll have less reliable coverage, but you’ll be paying the same rate as what you would’ve not roaming. I wouldn’t rely too heavily on coverage maps. Rather try to find reviews about the area, and the cellphone coverage.VERY important is that when you buy the phone, make sure that double minutes for life of the phone, is included. Without this feature the rates for the plans are not competitive with some of the plans other carriers are offering.Make sure that you’re not a heavy user. Tracfone is designed to accommodate people who don’t spend a lot of time on the phone. And more often than not, just have a phone for emergencies, or as a back up.

My parents have been using Tracfone for years now due to their infrequent usage and the small amount of minutes TF allows you to purchase. They don’t have the worry of complex bills or contracts. I recently noticed Tracfone’s SVC for seniors. They were thrilled with the new phone (which only cost me $15). The Samsung T155G is a sturdy little flip phone, which I always think is a safer bet if you’re worried you may accidentally press a button that will connect you and cost you. The sound quality is great and it’s hearing aid compatible. Large text makes for easy reading, 911 location assistance a must and the easiest navigation menu using yes and no answers. All round, this phone is perfectly geared for the senior user and they’ve had no problems using it.As far as the cost is concerned, it only costs me $7/month to keep them connected, which is an absolute pleasure, and even if they do run out, I just purchase more minutes and the service date extends too. With no contract, no bill, minimal expenditure and fantastic coverage, I can’t think what there’d be to complain about!
