i <3 my phone |
I love my Go phone! It costs me like 5 cents a txt which is a lot cheaper than the phones my friends have. However i do think its annoying how after like EVERY txt i send it tells me how much it costs, I KNOW HOW MUCH A FREAKIN' TXT COSTS!

I purchase a go phone for my cross country trip with the understanding that wherever AT&T goes, so does my phone. NOT SO! If you are roaming you are not allowed to use the signals from other companies only the AT&T towers because it costs more money to use other towers. So, in a city where AT&T has their own tower it will work but otherwise it won't. I have talked to the executive office of AT&T and was asked if I read the disclaimer about their plans. Naturally I didn't. If you pay a monthly fee you can use the rented towers but if you have a pay-as-you-go plan like you have with the go phone you cannot use the other towers. It is totally wrong and is being sold under false pretenses. I'm MAD!!!

If i could rate at&t with neg.stars i would.Since the two combined service customer support billing ect have went down hill i have five numbers three contracts and two pre paid i cant get same signal nor service with pre paid heck on 11/04/07 i cant even refill my prepaid accounts (thats cust. satisfaction)they keep saying system is down and i cant talk to a person just recordings guess that would be the reason i left at&t the first time

I have a pantech c120 camera phone that isnt too bad. I do think its bad that in order for you to have mobile to mobile you have to buy the 69.99 plan that's exspensive. Recently my incoming calls stopped coming in and all calls go straight to voice mail. All technical support can do is give me a new number or wipe my phone clean (remaster) so i have to load all contacts and rings over which is a huge inconvenience but i guess thats how it the gophone plans work. I havent had this phone a year you would think if anything they would send me a new phone for my chip but thats too much like right.

I just would like to know WHY would at&t charge you to check your own voice mail? The really bad part about that is its just with the go phones even if your free after 9 and weekends your still charged to check your own voicemail. Not good at all, and also i dont think they even read these reviews maybe if it was for contract customers but its just pre-paid so they're like WHATEVER

i have had a go phone from cingular/at&t for about 2 1/2 years now and it si so expensive!!!! but now they have this thing called feature packages i am so glad they have dat now cuz txt messaging now cost .15 cents and with dat package you can get 1000 messages for 9.99 or unlimited for 19.99 or 200 for 4.99. thats the only good thing about da go phone. and they even have an "escape a date" where you can have them call u during a date if its not going to well. lol its only .50 cents a call.

I got charge for so many things and used up $50 in one week, which is crazy cause my sister who is on contract pays less than $50 a month. So the pre-paid plan is a ripe off and I was have been a Cingular customer for 2 years before I went abroad

ANGRY GRANDMA |
I will NEVER give Cingular/AT&T my business again. I have a go phone and bought the "pay as you go" minutes, as needed. I only bought the phone for emergencies when taking my granddaughter with me, and thank the Lord, I never needed it for that reason. Anyway, I purchased my pay as you go card and two days later, before getting the chance to load the airtime, I no longer had service. I called and they told me that my account was canceled and I would have to purchase another SIM card and start the whole activation procedure again. In the meantime, I find out that they now offer unlimited mobile to mobile calls, which they didn't have before, and I wanted. What a rip-off company they are. I was purchasing the go cards to load my airtime and never using it and they would get my money. BAM! Just like that....gone! I would have been better off putting that money in the bank! I hope they can sleep well at night! Anyone need a $15 dollar Pay As You Go card with the PIN number on the receipt? How about a Motorola C139 phone with a 2-year replacement plan?

By the way, I rate them only 1 star, since that is the least allowed. However, I would have preferred not to give them any!

This AT&T Go Phone (prepaid wireless) is nothing but a RIPOFF! You can purchase all the time you want, but this company will create ways to eat up your minutes. This includes turning your phone ON, because they send TEXT ADS to do their advertising and the customer is paying for it! Please don't make the mistake of continuing to buy time for one of these things. Total waste of money!!

I bought this phone in Phoenix. When we started traveling with it we noticed that there were two ways of letting us know that we could not use the phone: "no coverage" and "no access". It is this second message that we take exception to. We have noticed that companies tend to treat prepaid phones users as second-rate customers. In the case of Cingular, this meant that we could not use the phone because of "no access" on the Interstate I-15 all the way from Salt Lake City to the Canadian border. Not even in the Butte, Helena or Great Falls areas! I strongly object to this policy of providing two levels of access service: one to subscription-based customers and a different and inferior level of service to those of us who pay far more per minute. I would appreciate an explanation from Cingular.

Needs more English speaking automative system. Doesn't give me an option like today. Trying to change the plan for days now and keep losing money with the prepaid card.

MY FAMILY USES THE GO PHONES FOR MOBILE TO MOBILE USE. I HAVE TWO TEENAGERS THAT REALLY THINK THE SERVICE IS HORRIBLE (NO RINGTONES,CHARGING FOR INCOMING TEXTS EVEN FROM THE COMPANY AND CRAPPY PHONE SELECTIONS). MY PROBLEM IS POOR CUSTOMER AND IF I DECIDE THAT MY CHILD CAN'T TALK FOR A MONTH OR MORE, I HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER PHONE OR CHIP THAT'S CRAZY. GO PHONE SHOULD READ ON THE PACKAGE DISPOSABLE PHONES!!! i AM GOING TO SHOP FOR SOMETHING A LITTLE MORE CUSTOMER FRIENDLY WITH BETTER OPTIONS.

I wanted to purchase a go phone but can't get a 'clear' answer on the plan that will serve me best. All the options and really it is all their opetions - you don't really have any.

Never again. First I received a note that my phone needed replacement. I replaced that phone with a go-phone that cost 80 bucks. Then I had to buy 100 bucks worth of air-time. I used it 3 times and last november they cut me off for not using it. I purchased an additional month, used it once and then have not used it for 2 months. Now I cannot even get the phone to work so they have cut me off. I also had a business account and advertising. We shut the business so they made us get another phone number and continue for 8 months paying for advertising in the book. They cut the number off and nobody could find us. That was 800.00 so right now AT&T is into me for well over $1000.00 and no service. The customer service rep in Atlanta told me that was just the way they did business. I wish I had more power to see just why this is like this. AT&T should be investigated by the government.

Service is good but there website and C.S. is crap. My phone will not display pic messages and you are supposed to get them off of the webstie, but it has never worked and have never even gotten a respose from C.S. even after several tries. If you go with the biggest provider be ready to sacrafice alot of support that you will get from a smaller provider that acutally cares about each coustmer.

I had a Go Phone and the only thing I like is the "no calls dropped" but Alltel is better. I spend around 30 bucks and get free nights and weekends, free txt, free m2m and free number to call. All this is just a buck twenty-five a day! I took off the m2m because I don't know any other Alltel users, so it's the same for a Go Phone...with extras! It didn't cost anything more to get my freebies either! Cingular charges you for everything, seemingly.

ripped off |
i got a new motorola v3 gophone thinking it would have the same features as my old one that broke (which wasn't originally a gophone)but when i used it, i found out that there were only 3 ringtones. all of which sucked. no games at all, and even though you pay a lot for browsing the web i did it anyways, and tried to buy a ringtone. after all that browsing it says that gophones aren't allowed to buy ringtones from the shop. also, they offer a free ringtone on the website if you create an online account and register your phone, but prepaid accounts are NOT ELIGIBLE. totally lame! i need to discontinue the service.

it's okay |
I've never been on a cellular phone monthly plan so I cannot compare Pay As You Go service with a monthly plan service. My first pay as you go service was with Verizon. I was really unhappy with them because they charged me for text messages, even the ones the company sent, and they even charged me to check my messages. Well, I switched to AT&T, and I'm a lot happier, albeit because I learned from my Verizon experience how to make my AT&T experience a better one. First, since I don't text, I had them turn the text feature off, so I'm not charged for them. Second, whenever I can, I check my messages from a land line, and I'm not charged for checking them that way. Well those were the two biggest goblers of my money. The biggest annoyance now is how sometimes I will be charged an extra dime for a call. For instance sometimes I will be charged 20 cents when I only talked 50 seconds. But, customer service has been great about removing the extra charge with no questions asked whenever I call them. It's just a hassle to call them because this extra charge occurs quite frequently. Like I said, I've never been on a monthly cell phone plan, but I can kind of tell that us GoPhone users are kind of treated like second class citizens. AT&T, and Verizon also wants us to switch to a month to month plan. I cannot speak about any other carrier.

Dear Angry grandma, I think that your cellphone will work to dial 911, even if the service provider has cut off your account.

Cingular (now ATT) has worked for me. Bascially they make the rules the way they do because in reality I suspect they want you to commit to a long-term regular cellphone plan, not a pay-as-you-go where they could lose your business at anytime. I had the $1/day 10cents a minute plan and for the little I needed the phone it was perfect + I got to speak to my friends for free since they had ATT phones. I learned the hard way last year that you have to refill when they tell you. I missed the e-mail and lost my number and $75 worth of minutes. But that is what they are hoping for.

Disappointed |
I found the AT&T prepay to not be cost effective and the cost per minute was at a minimum of 50 cents.

If I could give it a negative ten stars I would. Left tracfone for this company, liked the phone, liked the plan (it was soooo much cheaper) and thought it would be a perfect fit. WRONG First just getting the card inserted took 40 minutes then another 40 minutes getting it activated, what a nightmare that was thank goodness it wasn't my phone I dialed from. Using it was easy until I tried uploading minutes. NIGHTMARE! I tried three times over four different days and never got it to work. Then at exactly 30 days the whole thing went down because I hadn't uploaded a card successfully. It was a waste of time money and energy that I regret. This was my second try with prepaid and my last. I'm now on a postpaid plan I LOVE it!

ATT sucks. Horrible customer service that dont know english. Expensive and they are theifs. My minutes keep disappearing without use. Only advantage is I was able to use the prepaid on my old phone that was a contract service. I only use them becuase I need the extended area coverage. Horrible!

Most of the people on here who are leaving bad reviews have either A) Couldnt afford to keep their phone paid monthly, or B) Want a regular contract but dont have the credit for it. I have had a go phone pick your plan for 3 years now. Never a problem. As long as my money is in my banking account on the 1st, I dont lose my rollover minutes. also, if you break your phone, call them, they will put a "freeze" on your number AND MINUTES. once you get a new phone, put your sim card in, call them. BAM! you have your SAME number, the SAME minutes you had on there before AND you havnt been billed for the past few months(up to 6 months they told me) What cell phone gives you free nights and weekends, free mobile to mobile, $5 for 200 txts, and 500/600 day minutes for $60?? with no credit check, and no chance in hell in racking up a cell phone bill of $200?? PLUS not to mention, if your running low, you can add $15, $25 worth of minutes. You are all haters who obviously CANNOT manage your credit, and want to blame it on AT&T for your mistakes. I myself, use them so I DONT go over my minutes, only because I used to get $200-$400 cell phone bills front sprint and then nextel for not even goin over my minutes or using internet!

i think it REALLY sucks, not only does it charge for voicemail, but you also text messages will be going up to 20 cents and thats rediculous!!! it could be better. i mean the mobile to mobile is fine but i believe voice mail should be free. its rediculous.

go phones are ok but they are expensive and a big rip off. it takes .15 cents for text messages and .10 cents a minute for calls. i think that is real retarted.

This service works great for me. I don't use my cell very often, so I put $100 on it at a time (That way it takes a year for the minutes to expire) and that usually lasts me 10 or 11 months. It's expensive per minute, but I don't use enough minutes to bother with a monthly plan.

i have the cheaper version of the go phone, that does not flip. it is a pretty cool phone, but if you are looking for a awesome phone with a keyboard unlimeted text and really good games.....this is not the phone for you. it is basicly the simplest phone you can get, and has a pay as you go policy. it has texting, but you must pay 20 cents for every text sent and recieved. it has a few games, and internet connection, but it is INCREDIBLY expensive to go on internet, and SLOW too. it has a choice of about 20 ringtones to choose from, and has alarm clock, caledner, calculator and all that good stuff...i would much rather have a keyboared phone.

I agree with a few of the reviewers that say most of the problems people "B" about are caused by themselves. I have had the Go-Phone for two years with no problems. It helps if you read the service contract! As a back-up phone it is excellent as long as your IQ is above 70.

The selection of phones and coverage is great, but that is no use when the service is expensive as hell!!! These are NOT the phones to start out with, my friends! They charge alotta money for internet, and you have to charge like $5-$15 EXTRA just to get an add-on (like a ringtone, wallpaper, game.. so on) This phone service just pretty much sucks as a pre-paid. The texting rates are expensive. The web is expensive. everything is expensive. Unless you're looking at the unlimited $1 a day m2m, dont get these phones. as for me, THEY SUCKED.
