boost latest commercial says they are using the reliable sprint network. first they should be sued for false advertising. second ive spoken to people who use sprint phones and the network and their phones never act the way the boost mobile phones do. download text messages back and forth. what a joke. who are they kidding with saying they use the sprint network. i think they are hurting sprint by saying it cause no way sprint sucks this bad. boost by far is the worst company ive seen!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I could give boost no stars I would I have never been so angry at a phone until I started useing boost! It’s mostly with my texting which I do alot! I’m sick of resetting my phone, turning it off, taking out the battery in hopes I’ll get my texts!! Yesterday I didn’t get any all day long until 2:30 in the afternoon, and then I got ten of them! And then a friend of mine sent one in the am and I got it this morning at 3:30 am!! What a joke! Boost has the nerve to say something is wrong with my phone!! NOT! I am switching! I am done! Anyone want a phone! lol Lord knows I paid enough for it!

We bought a boost mobile phone and enjoyed it for a month in prepaid terms, after 5 days of being inactive, somebody already owned our number. Now that’s why I called S-U-C-K-S!

i have a boost for my bf, i hate it. my only means of conversation with him during daytime, so we dont run daytime minutes up is texting. it was great until about a week and a half ago. he gets most of my text messages, but i get a 1 or 2 messages from him. i know he is texting me because i see it on the boost account activity. and ive called boost and she said i just see your name on texting. ive tried maybe using another email address, but nothing. im switching. besides i need one that can block #s that call too much!

Amy. To avoid the slow download on your text. 1. click on message. On create, click ok on set up. 3 scroll down to download options, set it to automatic. That way when your messages show up. you can just open them. Web. Try to download opera mini 4. Go to Boost Apps.com look for info on how to download Opera mini 4 on the clutch. There was a how to video on youtube that shows how to download the opera mini 4 on the clutch.

There’s so many wierd and crappy things about Boost. i have the i465 clutch. The main f’d up thing is texting, which is what i do the most of. having to download texts is ridiculous and very exasperating. also, sent texts sometimes take up to 5 minutes or more before they’re sent. service is so-so, i get signal most places. the web sucks, most regular sites you can go to on a computer you cant go to on the phone. plus it’s as slow as dial-up. my main aggravation is the texting though as i said. i’ve wanted to throw my phone against the wall plenty of times. boost needs to step it up and start giving a damn about their service and their customers.

They say that its just $50 but that is not true. It comes out to a little over $54. A lot of times I get voice mails with no missed calls!!?!. When I do need to make a call or stay on the phone I have to go and sit with the phone against my window. If not the call will not go through or it will drop. Many times people will ask if I got there text……and I’m like what text??? Also when you do get texts, you have to download them. Sometimes this is fast and other times it just takes forever ……only to tell you that it failed and can’t go through. I’m supposed to have internet access but it doesn’t work . It doesn’t load the page or just says there was a error. When you call support they tell you some steps to reset it or to type in a special http address. This works once and then longer works after that. So I never use this feature. I’m considering switching to metro pcs but I hear they have a lot of problems too. Ehhh!

This company really isn’t bad if your a teenager. Pros: Great customer service. Okay service in most states. Cons: If you travel a lot this company isn’t for you. I travel from Louisiana to Illinois, and there is no service from Mississippi to Missouri. At the same time coverage in buildings are non existent. I work for Lowe’s and I can’t get service inside the building. I’m going to go with Straighttalk because they seem to have a better coverage area.

Okay I am a flight attendant. I truly love using this service. Its sucks in Bangor, Maine; Alabama; Mississippi area. However it works fine in Guam. I thought about getting straight talk however they rank much worse than boost in quality. I was thinking of going to Straight talk because it is on the Verizon network. I am just hoping I am not trading Boost for something worse

I had boost with the Motorola i776 on the 50 dollar unlimited plan. Pros: You can pay with a check over the phone. Cons: Phones are far from user friendly. No alarm clock and menus that make putting your hand into a working blender a more pleasing proposition. Customer service: See remark about blender above. Horrendous. About 30% of the time it would not complete my calls. Texting is AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL. Took 2 or 3 days to receive some texts. They charge you for social sites that you can get FREE on Straight talk. Works on the major highways, better hope you don’t have to go to the boonies with this phone. Battery life is a joke, my phone would work for a little over an hour between charges. Final Word: They were a good value at one time. When Straight Talk came out, I jumped on it and never looked back. If you like the walkie talkie thing, then this is the phone for you, that is about the only reliable thing about this company.

I’ve had boost for about a year now. You get what you pay for! Overall it is great for me because I pay 50 bucks a month for unlimited(53 something with tax). Signal is pretty good unless I get into some remote location. Texting is not so good, I’m constantly waiting for my phone to download texts and to send them. Sometimes I get errors that I can’t retrieve them at all. Recently I am having to turn my phone off and on several times because my text messages are in gibberish and I can’t make out what they really say… But I do have one of the cheapest phones they have which is more than likely the problem, I’ve been hearing that the newer ones like the Incognito and the Blackberry don’t have these issues. I will be getting the Incognito this week, I don’t really care for having to open it every time to see or send texts but if it’s faster then so be it. Also, when they say your bill is due on a certain date, they mean it! Mine is usually due on the 17th and by midnight/1am the 18th my service is off until I make a payment.

To those saying boost cant port your number from an existing phone when you go with a new one… BULL. Some of the radio shack, or other stores that sell boost are not able to, but if you buy the phone and call them they will do it for you. I just had my nubmer ported from my i465 clutch over to a Blackberry with NO PROBLEM. The service is great, and no idea what the text messaging delays everyong is bitching about, never have had one problem with texts.

I switched to Boost Mobile a few weeks ago and it was a great decision. I decided to go with the CDMA side and bought the Sanyo Incognito for $129 at my local Best Buy. The phone itself is awesome, and although not a smart phone it has all the features I could ask for. For $50 a month I get unlimited talk, text, and web. The web access is incredibly fast, just have to make sure you download Opera Mini browser as this will help a lot. I activated my phone online and it took about 5 minutes. When I activated I forgot to port my number so I was assigned a new one. It took about 10 calls to customer service before someone was able to port my number over to the phone. I kept being told that it was not possible to port a number once I activated the phone. I eventually spoke to someone who was able to do it, so just be careful when you activate if you plan on porting a number. The service itself has been awesome, and I haven’t had one dropped call or less then 2 bars of service anywhere in the Washington DC area. The call quality is awesome, and since this is a CDMA phone, I haven’t had one issues with text messages not going through. You don’t have to ‘download’ the text messages either like you do on the IDEN network. I am very pleased with the service I’ve received so far and will be recommending this service to anyone and everyone!!!

I love Boost. Was sick of contracts and expensive service. Switched to boost and never looked back. I have an i856 debut and it works great. Call quality is great and texts appear to be quick, I have not had any problems with texting. I put Opera mini on the phone (from boostapps) and the web is reasonable to use. Customer service, when I needed them, was great.

My husband went through net 10 and it was on e problem after another from porting his number to being able to receive calls. I have never had any issues with boost, i plan on getting the sanyo incognito this week. I would recommend boost to anyone. And for $500 bucks a month you cant beat that.

Summary: I was with boost mobile for 6 months, during that time I called AT LEAST 12 times after failing to received numerous text messages OR after receiving messages that people had sent at noon at 3am!!! I received MANY MANY $5- $30 credits to my account for their piss poor text messaging service EACH and EVERY month. They kept apologizing (As per their written statement) Customer service were like robots and NO MATTER what problem you were having they could not help you or even listen to the problem until they read (verbatim) the pre written apology in front of them. Their excuse is that they ‘ARE SO POPULAR’ that they are having a hard time accommodating the HUGE text messaging demands. It was after my Father was in the ICU of the hospital and the only way that my family members were allowed to contact me was via text messaging as speaking on the cell phone would interfere with the medical equipment that was keeping my Father alive. At 2:30pm yesterday my Father passed away My mother sent me a text to my boost mobile phone and I received it 6 hours after he died. I missed saying goodbye to my Father because of these Bastards!

We love Boost. Their service is awesome, and since we don’t do a lot of texting, it is not a big deal to us to have it. The price is great for us for the service we get. I can call my daughters and other people long distance without ever worrying about dropped calls. We have dropped the phone more than once. It still works as well as the day we bought it. Boost rocks compared to Qwest or Comcast.

I have had my Boost phone for about 6 months now. At first I liked it because service is only $50 a month. Who can’t afford that? I read a review on here where they said, ‘you get what you pay for,’ and that it too true! It takes atleast 30 seconds for me to download my texts. Sometimes you have to retry like 10 times, and the texts still don’t come through. I’m a texter, so that’s important to me. One of my friends just got a Straight Talk phone, and her phone is working out great for her. I text her and she received it like 1 second later. She texted me back, and I haven’t received it yet. I’m switching companies.

I wanted to like boost mobile, I really did. But you get what you pay for. I started with the 50 dollar unlimited plan. They ported my line in no problem. Then the lack of text messages began… and continued for a number of months. Then I tried to switch to the new Sanyo 3g CDMA phone… and they couldn’t switch my number. The customer service person said they could switch it if I lived in Texas. That doesn’t help me. Now I have to return the phone and pay the restocking fee, but Boost credited 5 dollars to my account, which is 1/4th the stocking fee. Thanks for nothing Boost.

I have had Boost for over a year now both me and my wife have the i776. We have had some of the problems the others have but no where near as bad as some have claimed. I think for the price and keeping in mind you are on the Nextel network the poor coverage can be expected but for the cost and commitment of a 2 year plan and being able to drop it without penalty the trade off for me was worth it. I would like them to improve coverage but most areas I travel to have coverage. Not a lot of major problems for my point of view.

boost mobile is garbage.i will explain the only good thing about boost mobile. i got great reception where i live in ohio. i could pretty much call anybody anywhere. BUT sometimes when people tried to call me it would say ‘searching for subscriber’. so about 15 percent of the time people would try to call me and i wouldnt even know it. the internet is slower than dial up. i have to download text messages which takes FOREVER (10 seconds all the way up to a minute or 2) if it even lets me download it. i would say 3 out of 10 times it wouldnt let me download the texts. AND THATS NOT EVEN FOR PICTURE MAIL, its for a simple regular text. i would say 5 out of 10 times i couldnt even send a text. most of the time if i was acutally able to send a text the person wouldnt get it for about 2 hours and sometimes even 1 or 2 days later. the people at customer service seem nice IF I COULD only understand what they are saying. they have only over charged me twice but to be fair they fixed the problem. if i was you i wouldnt go through boost. the phones are like kid phones. they cost alot but are junk phones. avoid getting boost. almost everybody has had the same problems with boost mobile in EVERY single review i have read. i am no longer with boost and i suggest DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT GETTING IT if you were thinking about going through boost.

if i could rate any lower than 1 star i would…. i’ve never seen a service have sooo many dead spots! i live in nashville, so they are supposed to have decent service here but the coverage map lies… after i left the store, i checked my bars while driving home. i should’ve seen it as a hint when the phone didn’t even have 1 bar in the sprint store! while driving home (on the interstate) i had decent coverage… but the bars were going up and down constantly…. as soon as i go into any buildings my service dies! people are always asking me to repeat myself! they said i sounded like a robot and then couldn’t hear me at all. not to mention, when someone finally did call me, they said they were trying for like 5 minutes to call me and it wouldn’t go through! i was at my house and my phone was on the table where it gets full bars! whats the use of having a phone if no one can call you! this happen multiple times and that’s not the half of it….if your a frequent texter then run away! the way their texting works is like picture messaging… basically, instead of sending the texts over normal cell service, it connects to the internet for simple texts!!! and this wasn’t on my phone, i got another one from best buy (the clutch) and it did the same thing… the problem with this is that it takes forever to send a message and they don’t always send! plus, it depletes your phones battery so mine only lasted 4 hours with minimal use!!!! ridiculous!!!! this also wasn’t a problem with my account, i called in and they said since the walkie talkie forces their phones to run on a different system, their texts have to be sent over the web. i never even used the walkie talkie… also, i would send texts, and it would say they sent, but guess what… they didn’t! my girlfriend thought i was pissed at her!!! i tried to send messages to her for an hour and she didn’t get any of them!!! and if you look at their coverage map, it’s the skimpieest thing i’ve ever seen! they have the worts coverage, worst phones, worst costumer service, worst phone service, and worts reception! i don’t know how they stay in business… GO WITH STRAIGHT TALK! they are sooo much better!

Boost Customer Service DOES NOT CARE THEY WILL NOT HELP US WITH THIS PROBLEM. I have spent many many minutes on the phone with several employees of Boost wireless and none of them seem to care that the phones don’t work in our area anymore and want give us a reason why. I wish someone would get Boost attention and tell them they need to do something about it. wish i could put zero. Not worth the hassle. To top it off there has been many time that the person didnt receive the text or I didnt get a text that was sent to me. I think boost may be behind all these fake communications just to rake up charges. Has anyone else had similar issues?

text messages sent/received took forever. so did internet. i called the company 5 times in one month and they didn’t fix the problem. in fact just called them two more times today and one of there techs had me do a reset and it erased all of my contacts so now i have nothing. they said sorry and that’s it. no customer satisfaction, no kind of credit. no anything. i spoke to two techs and a supervisor. they also changed there call care number. now you have to jump through hopes to get a real person on the phone and it isnt even a real option unless you choose several other options. then it’s magically tacked in on the end. and it’s not like its the phones that make the service suck. i have the new motorola i465 Clutch. i am fed up with Boost and am currently looking for another provider. My best advice is unfortunately STAY AWAY FROM BOOST MOBILE. THe cheap 50 buck unlimited plan sounds good but it really isn’t worth it because of the slow internet and text response and sending times. also service randomly goes out even though the website map says the areas are saturated with signal

I am a Boostmobile customer an I got one big concern about Boostmobile coverage plan if you lose or break your phone.I had cricket service for 5 years and every time I lost or broke my phone cricket would give me a new phone for a small fee. However Boostmobile does not give you a replacement phone when you lose or break your phone,I think thats is a big rip off because who wants to keep buying a new phone everytime you lose or break your phone. However I think I am going to switch back to cricket if Boostmobile does not fix this problem soon.

I have had nothing but trouble from Boost mobile – and this is sad because I wanted to enjoy their $50 unlimited plan and nice phones. Everything seems outdated on the phone I purchased, the motorola clutch. Set up was a nightmare. Voice prompts tell you to do something, yet when you try to do it, it won’t work? I get charged a one time payment of $50.00 (plus $4.00 in taxes and fees), and it doesn’t show up in my account for over a day? WTF Boost mobile? This company was on the verge of bankruptcy a few years ago, I would stay away from Boost if I were you. Everything looks like it will be a cinch when you read the information on Boost’s website, but when you get your phone it is a different story. I am going back to Virgin Mobile where I have always set up their phones easily, with no problems, and money I spend to fund my account is posted IMMEDIATELY to my account, not delayed for over a day like Boost mobile.

Texting is hit or miss, could take five minutes to get it or five days. Web browsing kicks ass with opera mini installed on it. And considering a conversation with my sis can put me over a thousand minutes in a day, it’s well worth the fifty dollars. The phones they offer are junk compared to smartphones but you have to consider what it would cost to have an unlimited plan with any other service. And I email, text and chat daily because this is also my work phone. I have the clutch and though it’s no bb, I installed the push email feature, opera mini, used the boost navigator when my tom tom battery died etc. All in all its a bargain that can’t be beat at least for now.

I did a lot of research last year before recommending Boost Mobile to my friend as being the best bang for her buck. While it is true, her inexpensive, candy bar style phone isn’t great, it gets the job done. The bottom line was she could not afford all the excess charges associated with her long-term contract plan. What Boost offers is a reasonable cost (and no surprises) for a phone plan that allows all. I have read a few reviews from people who got quite tech savvy in converting a Blackberry to Boost service… great if that is what you want or need. I am not much of a text message user and neither is my friend, so I can’t really comment on that. If you need to conserve your cell phone cost this is a great option. One thing that I found very important when researching was checking service area coverage. I have even looked into the new $45 plan from Walmart. It has a very sketchy and limited coverage area, but if you live in that area and don’t travel an extra $5 per month savings could be worth it. Currently I am locked into a family plan through AT&T but I would and probably will switch to Boost at sometime in the near future.

I have had them for years. Got tired of calling in every 90 days and adding money so I switched over to an auto-deduct if my balance got low. They didn’t bother to tell me if I didn’t use the phone alot (which I don’t it’s my wifes to use when we are on trips and need to talk to each other) that I still have to connect and pay every 90 days or I lose my balance. They just stole $46.00 of mine, and then went to my cc for $20! I am now waiting for a supervisor – this is crap – I spend more than this just being on the phone waiting for the supervisor!

I recently bought the i465 Clutch. I like the look of the phone, but the service is horrible. I have been unable to connect to the browser and all I get from CS is ‘too bad.’ Some text messages take several minutes to download and one didnt download at all. After the third ring, the call goes to voicemail. Three rings is not always enough time to answer the phone. Hopefully I can sell this piece of junk and go to another carrier. Although, Verizon and ATT ‘nickel and dime’ you to death. Even on their unlimited plans.

RIGHT ON THE MARK….. I agree with:FormerNextel 2009/11/25 Look, FIFTY BUCKS FOR EVERYTHING! Had nextel for 10 years, this is the same and cost half of the nextel unlimited. Whats not to like. Two things: 1. You need to accept nextel’s limitations 2. Service quality is relative to where you live. If Nextel sucks in your area, guess what, so does boost. If your nextel is strong, so goes the boost. A+ for value! — I too can relate to Former Nextel. I’m glad Sprint/Nextel has good service where I live and for $50 Dollars no complaints here. Secret is knowing you have excellent coverage in your area and you want the bells and whistles at a very reasonable cost goto boostberry.com My family and friends continue to carry BlackBerry’s at a fraction of what we paid at VZ and ATT. Hell, I hooked our company up and went from 100 Nextel 8350i to Boost and saved the company money. Since our company cell phone numbers are not printed on our Business cards it was more the reason to embrace it. Our Speech Recognition Hosted PBX system transfers the calls to both our desk and cell phone without the guests knowing we are at the beach and not at the office. Sprint/Nextel (Boost) has the State of Hawaii covered well and we are still operating in Style like everyone else.

I bought the Motorola i776 and the unlimited Boost plan as a gift. It was sort of sneaky, because it would also allow me to stay in touch with the other party who only had occasional or non-existent cell service in the past. The Boost service was worse than nothing. When he called me, my phone wouldn’t ring, the call would not show up in my call list, but the voice message would be there – sometimes. Or I’d leave him a message and he’d get it three days later. What a disaster! We’re discontinuing the plan and phone today and moving either to Verizon or TracPhone (which I understand is on the Verizon network). If I knew that Boost was on the Nextel network, as opposed to the Sprint network, I never would have bought the plan or phone. I do not recommend this service, or the Customer Service reps who only know, after an interminable wait, how to reset the phone. They have no other solutions to anything.

Horrible! Can’t send international text messages. Talked to ‘customer service’ 4 times now. They said a lot of international customers may not get text message because boost sends all messages out via MMS and some phones can’t receive MMS messages. I only send text messages (no pictures) but it doesn’t matter! What a waste! I asked if they could disable MMS and they said yes but I would lose voice mail and web. No problem. I told them to go ahead and disable whatever they need. They said ok and then never did disable MMS. I’ll go find a 2 year plan. Enough is enough !!!

I have had most all of the cell phones with many different plans, it seems that most companys as usual only want your money in their pockets, and you can just put up with any problems that will take place sooner or later, and if you dont like it go some place else because they have your money and some times a long contract ( LOL ) and some more money you cant get out of, untill everyone bands togeather to correct the problem or run any of the companys out of a JOB. I personally just got a boost i776 with the pay as you go plan and have decided to get the 50 dollar unlimited plan in the next week or two. So far so good. Just remember everyone has their problems to fix, some of which might take more than 5 seconds to correct. I try to cut slack to everyone so they can try to improve. P.S then there are those who will cry and whine about problems to be fixed right now ! I really dont think mom or dad ever spanked their poor poor babies, they just gave them a hundred bucks just to get them out of hearing distance for everyone else to suffer. Good luck to all, I am happy with my phone !!

these phones are serviced under Nextel’s network. if you leave an area serviced by nextel, you will not have phone service. the web is very slow and retreiving text messages is challenging at best. about 1 in 10 will not download. there is a very high frequency of doubled texts sent (in some cases my friends get the same text 10 and 11 times). and beware- if you prepay cash and decide you want to terminate service you lose that money.

Boost is CRAP!!!! Here are all the PROBLEMS ive had with boost that started the first week i got the phone and always had until i FINALLY GOT RID OF THE PLAN today. 1.you’ll NEVR GET TEX on time, if someone sent me a tex i wouldnt get it from anywheres from 10 MINS after to a day after, no lie sometimes i wouldnt get a tex UNTIL THE NEXT DAY and i kno this for sure cause if any of my friends sent me a tex i would actually have them prove what day they sent it cause I COULDN’T BELIVE IT AT FIRST! 2. this is a more recent problem ive had. i would be talking to someone on the phone and we would start to talk for 3 or 4 MINS and after that i COULDN’T HEAR a single thing they where saying but they could hear me. i was still having this problem. ITS WHAT PUSHED ME TO GET A NEW PLAN ASAP! 3.say i tex one of my friends i kno there number by heart and ive always texed the same number foreverfor that person, well all the sudden i would get a tex from another number ive never seen saying WRONG NUMBER, it was starting to happen way to much so i talked to 3 other FRIENDS that have boost and they where HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM so basically what was going on was that it was sending tex to the wrong number, and i dont think u want that to happen to you cause it even happened with a pic message i sent to my fiance that was a little private and was only suspossed to be sent to his phone and well….. it wasnt. 4.everything TAKES SO LONG to load 5. sometimes it took me 30 MINS to try to send a TEX. 6.HORRIBLE SERVICE for where i live 7. SSOOOOOOOOO SSSSSLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWW 8. RINGTONES are HORRIBLE when u buy them youll spend 2 or 3 bucks for no lie maybe like 5 TO 7 SECONDS OF THE SONG. you know what im not even saying everything else that was wrong with that phone cause ill be here all day and its doing nothing but annoying the hell out of me talking about the horrible plan. all i have to say is im finally done with that phone, THE WORST PLAN I EVER HAD WITH A PHONE COMPANY and DONT BUY IT, ITS NOTHING BUT CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For $50 a month with walkie talkie feature is awesome if you’re a real active person. The first day I got Clutch the TXT were sooo slow but it sped up and i am a happy customer. don’t like all the locked content – if I take a picture with my camera or a mp3 i own I should be able to use them on my phone for rings and wallpaper. Give me the choice to buy or be creative and make my own without having to hack the phone.

But you can’t be chained to the computer all day, so I forward call to this cell phone. Well I put $50 on the account 2 months as go. I’ve only spent $10 per month. I’m doing good here. I just got the new Samsung R810C which is an iPhone-like touchscreen phone with apps, 2 megapixel camera and camcorder, full QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth and high-speed data access. It was just introduced by TracFone and it sells at WalMart. Works with their Straigh Talk unlimited plan that includes unlimited text, unlimited calls, unlimited web access – all for just $45 a month. I’ve been w/ TracFone for a few years and their ervice is top-o-the-line. Also, they’re on the Verizon network which makes them super reliable. Again, I wouldn’t put myself through Boost even w/ all their new gadgets, when I can Straight Talk and their new touch-screen phone.

I’m giving an update to my original post dated: 2009/09/07, which I have including below. I’m happy to report that my bank went after Boost Mobile and confirmed the error (the theft!) was with Boost and not CVS. As of last month (November) my account has been credited the $50.00 they stole from me. More than the money, I have great satisfaction in knowing they didn’t get away with robbing me… I had told them that they will never get away with taking my 50 dollars and that they haven’t heard the last from me. It took some time, but it was well worth it! Here is my original post: I used Boost for a few years because of the $1.00 a day PTT service, which was compatible with my husband’s Nextel work phone. Also, my daughter and son each have a Boost phone so the $1.00 a day to talk to my family was great! Service is good because of the towers in my area. … the problem? My husband recently purchased a boost card to add money to my phone and the card was ‘locked’. I called Boost and they said to speak to the manager of the store to unlock the card ‘coz they probably swiped it wrong. I called CVS (81 Milk Street, Boston, MA 02109) and they said the card was swiped correctly and shows on the receipt it has been activated and that they can’t reimburse us money because the transaction is through Boost. CVS told me to call Boost back. I did. Boost told me to fax a copy of the receipt, Boost card (showing front and back of card) and to write my name, cell phone number and 4 digit code on the paper. They told me within 4 hours of receiving this fax I will automatically have the money added to my phone. After 4 hours… nothing. I called Boost, they said they received my fax and told me there was nothing they could do ‘???’ I asked if they could send me a new card or reimburse me my money… all they could say is ‘we’re sorry but there’s nothing we can do’. I asked them if they were seriously gonna rob me of $50.00 … FIFTY DOLLARS!!! They said ‘we’re sorry’. I can’t tell you what I said to them because my comment will be deleted by the moderator of this site but you can use your imagination. Oh.. this discrepancy went on for six days. I went to my bank and filled out an ‘ATM/DEBIT Card Dispute Affidavit’ to stop these crooks from stealing my money. I have a few more weeks to hear from my bank. I asked my bank if Boost will be aware that I’m doing this, they said yes. I’m glad. Hopefully my bank gets the $50.00 from them so I can stick it to ’em! I’m guessing I wasn’t important enough to deal with since I was only a ‘prepaid’ customer with no ties to a cell phone plan… it’s the only thing I can think of. So, after this experience I only have two words about Boost…. ‘THEY SUCK!!!’

A further update, and a suggestion to any boost (or other prepaid) user. I would encourage anyone interested in maintaining a consistent phone number to consider obtaining a google voice number. A google voice number is independent of service providers, costs nothing, and can be directed to ring your cell, home or office phones — all at once, if you like. Since a google voice number is not tied to any service provider, it does not matter what your individual cell number may be, or who provides the service. Google voice numbers are currently only available by ‘invitation,’ which means you must contact google and request an invitation to participate in this free service. Those interested will find all the information they need by simply doing a search for ‘google voice’ and following the link to google’s site. As you may guess, the major cell providers are not wild about this service, since it tends to undermine their lock on customers, who may not wish to go through the trouble to port a number, or are afraid of losing their number. If your number is no longer tied to your cell provider, who cares who provides your voice service? Check it out.

I have had a boost phone for approximately one year, primarily in the Minneapolis area. It was initially just a ‘backup’ phone, primarily used to experiment with the Mologogo gps locator service. My primary service was with verizon. I began to use boost for voice, text and data when their 50$ unlimited plan was introduced, and have used it almost exclusively since that time, and recently terminated my verizon service. In general, the service has been excellent, and my current phone (the clutch) works well. Most of the objections I have seen fall into two categories: First, service problems (primarily w/ text message delays, or limited coverage), or Second, phone problems. Any service is only as good as the service in your coverage area. If boost does not work well in your area, find another service. In our area (and, in fact, throughout most of Minnesota), coverage has been equal to my old verizon service. As to phone issues, any competent user will immediately replace most of the software of their phone. I replaced the browser with opera mini, for example. It is fast, efficient, and provides access to virtually all websites, and not just the ‘mobile web.’ I also added google maps, a dedicated gmail client, google calendar sync (to sync the phone calendar with google calendar), and life in pocket (which provides gps enable turn-by-turn directions). In addition, I occasionally use Mologogo for gps tracking. Almost all of the phone related complaints I have read are the product of ignorance, and not the phone. Frankly, I even tether the clutch to my netbook if I don’t have access to WIFI. If all of this is a mystery to the reader, or the reader has no idea how to modify the phone’s programming, then the issue is education and not the service. Even these ‘simple’ little boost phones have far more capacity and power than the average user may realize. Again, if all of this seems like a mystery, consult the web … or buy a book.

Been with Boost for 3+ years, and ALWAYS received a text message from them before 90-day Minute Expiration. Some recent corporate change, that could not be explained by their Customer Dis-Service Reps, expired the minutes without the usual and normal company-generated text message reminder. Dealing at corporate level to refund stolen money, and next step is to involve Consumer Affairs. JUST TERRIBLE!!!! Yes at times the texting & web is slow and if you are a Trucker like my hubby the coverage in the Midwest is bad but for $50 a month pre-paid phone what do you expect. Yes, it would be nice to have all the bells and whistles that other phones offer & Verizon’s coverage but these days who can afford the rates and ETF that come with contract phones. Just think if you are a family of 4 like on those nice commercial and you run into some kind of hardship and can’t pay for the service you will be shelling out close $1400 in ETF. I don’t know about anyone else but $1400 is what most people I know make all month long. So to all the Boost haters go on and leave Boost maybe it will make the texting and web go faster.

Well I just got the i335 and its the cheapest one they sell and so far its been great, but like I said I just bought it on 12/04/09. So I have only had it a couple of days. I bought mine at Best Buy for $60+50=110, then I got Best Buys 2yr insurance plan for $10. Altogether it was $120. I also had my old number from Verizon ported over. It was done in 24hrs. I live in metro Atlanta and service here is great, in and out of the city. I had to go up to my mother in-laws today (yeah..) Not, and they live about 2 hrs north of Atlanta in the mountains of Big Canoe in Pickens County and I had 2 to full bars at there house, IN SIDE. In the MOUNTAINS. I have been sending text to my wife’s phone who is with Verizon, for now, and she gets them almost immediately. The same goes for her sending to me. No ‘DELAY’. The PTT feature is very cool and handy. Call quality is clear and LOUD. The web browser does suck though. It will do the job. I know the i465 and i856 you can download opera mini and makes the web experience ALOT better. Overall, The service here in Atlanta,GA has been very good. Including north GA. For the $50 unlimited you really cant go wrong.

This is a horrendous service, unlimited?….no text for 5 days, all outgoing texts end up in my drafts. I can’t send or read my e-mail, I can’t instant message, Yahoo or MSN unless I want to pay $1.99 for each day for each service, or a month each for both messengers, as I see it, that makes it $110 a month, then there is the international $9.99, then the Navigation, another %9.99 I use two IM’s, so that is actally $1 a day each on top of the unlimited web that never seems to work, that is $130 a month, then they want to charge for 411, not a very good plan more than I was paying for AT&T and less service. Really all I needed was a new phone, I wore my LG shine out, AT&T gave me everything. Boost directory assistance NEVER completes a call. Trying to make a call on the freeway as I have to be somewhere and this voice says I have not enough money, please add money. I have reboost!. and unlimited, what do they mean I need to apply more money?. You reach to answer a call it has gone after 4 seconds. This is driving to tears, yes tears. I missed something important, I am old yes, but not technically challanged. This is the worst service I have ever used.

I think the stars speak for themselves. I went to each of the prepaid reviews on here, and Boost has the most comments with more stars. I’m going on two years with Boost after I got tired of being wallet-raped by AT&T, and other than the very short issues at the beginning of this year, have NOT had a single problem. And I have the cheapest phone they offer. It’s been dropped, kicked, dunked, chewed on by my puppy, and it STILL works! Kiddos, I also live in BFE Kentucky. Seriously. I have to drive an hour or more to see a city with a Starbucks or a mall, and I get just fine reception. I’ve driven from Ohio to Kentucky to North Carolina to Florida and all point in between and haven’t had a reception issue that you wouldn’t have with any other service. I lived in Lexington, KY with AT&T and dropped more calls or went thru more dead zones than I do with Boost. It’s fifty-friggin-dollars for EVERYTHING!!! And —it’s a phone!!! It does what phones do. If you are using it as a replacement for a social life, you got more problems than just phone reception. What is going on in your life that a few minutes between texts is an isssue?

When I heard about the $50 a month unlimited plan, I thought ‘Sign me up!’ What a huge mistake. After paying $140 for a lackluster phone that looks like it should have been sold in 2003, I was bombarded with a whole lot of problems. To start, I couldn’t even get service when I turned my phone on. I don’t know why, it just didn’t work. I called their customer service, where I got absolutely no help whatsoever. I had to put the sim card from my old phone (from a different carrier) in it to get any service, and it ‘worked’ from there on. The texting is horrible. Several times a day I get stuck with messages that won’t send, which prevents me from sending or receiving any other messages. Oh, they also arrive late. Sometimes an hour, sometimes a day and a half. I at least have pretty good coverage in my area and rarely am out of service. I even get service in areas that ATT and Verizon don’t cover. However, that does not justify going with Boost. The extra coverage is barely more than any major carrier. Sometimes when people try to call me, they get this weird message and can’t get through. This will happen when I have full service and I’m not doing anything on the phone. Basically, I’m paying $50 a month for texting that barely works and for the chance that I won’t get incoming calls, even if I have service.
