My wife bought a ST phone along with the $45 phone card yesterday. 30 hours later and still no activation, but I’ll bet their 30 day clock is still ticking. I already filed a complaint with the FCC, BBB and a few other 3-letter agencies. What a bunch of crap!

Up until today I thought the service was superb!!!! I have been without service for almost 24hrs. I have recommended the service to numerous people, now I feel somewhat embarrassed. If the ‘technical difficulties’ issue is not repaired in a timely manner I will be transferring my service else where! Also I expect to be compensated for non-service!!!

Okay, my husband is having the same problems. Hours on hold…misleading info from ST techs. Forty-five bucks gone with no refunds. Looks like a complete systems failure but the misleading info from service techs is flat wrong. It would be the right thing to do to fess up and be honest but that’s not happening. They’ve got millions in their pockets from just these last few days but won’t issue refunds. Can you say class-action lawsuit?

As of today if I could give a rating of minus stars I could. That’s about as negative as I want to be here. Up until now ST has been great. I have now been waiting for nearly 24 hours for my phone to reload with the $30 card I got from Walmart. Is anyone from Walmart reading this? Hey Walmart, maybe they will listen to you better than the customers, your good name is on the line. This ST phone is my only phone and I’m sure that those trying to call me think I haven’t paid any money to add mins. to my phone. Still waiting on hold for CS after 2 1/2 hours. They say my call is very important to them. I’m giving up for today. Thanks to all who have posted and given information. At least I know now that I’m not crazy, The service from Straight Talk is.

Please note, I am not the last Sue that posted w/5 stars. I posted earlier today and added the UPDATE! I finally got through to CS at ST for the first time today. The CS Rep was not very encouraging in fact she said it would not be until tomorrow 12:00 noon Eastern Time that the phone problem would be resolved and then I lost connection in the middle of our conversation. The Walmart worker I spoke to earlier today shared that her friend that also works at Walmart experienced 4 days trying to get service refilled last month. She thinks the problem is with folks refilling or activating around the 1st of the month! I tend to agree with her because my niece hasn’t experienced any problems with her ST cell phone at all and her refill/expiration day is on the 8th! It appears that ST has an overwhelming amount of customers refilling around the 1st of the month jamming their system down for only those customers not all their other customers. So I believe therein lies their problem too many customers around the 1st part of the month needing service and shutting down the system for anyone calling in or needing service at that time. Like I wrote, my niece is not having one bit of problem with her ST cell phone as there are others on this review that are stating they haven’t any problems either. I can assure you they haven’t had to contact ST in the last couple of days either. CS said they were planning on compensating their customers but didn’t know exactly how. I told her I want my due/expiration date to change to another day of the month and she said they would take care of any requests after tomorrow. I also told her that ST needed to compensate me for the extended days for a new expiration date or would probably terminate my account if they didn’t work with me. We’ll see! One more thing, I have always for the last 4 mos. refilled right on the 1st or 2nd day of the month with no mishap, but I also know that ST has since then aquired many more new customers. The Walmart salesperson said that on the 1st of the month is when most people come in to buy their new ST phones! It is making more sense that ST can resolve this problem by changing expiration dates for customers to alleviate their system from breaking down with most customers refilling on the first of the month. These ST execs are not doing their jobs very well allowing these break downs to continue. Common sense or common business sense should take care of the problem–someone big exec is not doing their job very well at ST!!!! You should make sure ST has your email address to send ur reminders via email not just ur cell phone. See ST email addresses below: StraightTalkTo email.tracfone.com StraightTalkTo email.straighttalk.com

their customer service is having a problem with adding minutes and they have been putting ppl on hold for hours at a time just to tell you they are having technical difficulties, the problem is with adding minutes so unfortunately you aren’t gonna b able to do anything until they get it fixed, they are telling everyone to give it 24 hours… I just got off the phone with tracfone and they said that straight talk is fixing the system and everyones phone should update themselves in 24 hours… hope this helps, the phone number is 8774302355 for straight talk and 1-800-867-7183 for tracfone, if you call tracfone they will directly connect you with straight talk customer service and you don’t have to wait but like i said they are just going to tell you wait 24 hours for them to fix the problem

Can’t do anything with this piece of junk. The phone support # says it’s busy the over twenty times I’ve called. The website is down. I got the 800 # from Verison (who evidently is affiliated with them) and was on hold on my land line for over an hour. It really makes me steamed to follow someones ‘simple’ setup procedure only to have not so simple problems. I work for Wal-Mart and if I don’t get this phone working in the next 24 hrs. I’m going to raise cane at work. Will let you guys know how it goes. Good luck – Pappy

I personally have not had any problems. I activated my phone LG220c for the first time via web w/ card from wal-mart in January 2010 and phone was on almost instantly, I let the time elapse once for about a day and had it up and running almost instantly when reactivated. The web browser works fine (although I personally don’t like surfing on my phone, thats what my laptop and PC are for) never had a dropped call and 99% of the time the audio is just as good as my landline. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is once in a while (2 times since January) I get an echo of my voice while talking and I can’t just hook a cable up to my PC or laptop to transfer homemade pics or ringtones.

Again, it appears that the systems break down is due to an overwhelming load of customers to service on the 1st or 2nd day of each month. It is a problem of inadequate manpower to do the work whether adding minutes or activating new customers during this time of the month for ST! I believe it is the inability of ST to meet the demands of their customers around the 1st of each month. They have a big problem and unless they take care of it ASAP they are going to loose many customers!!!

I am having all the same problems after doing this at straighttalk.com. I just had to get the nicest samsung phone and the $45 plan today. 4 hours trying to get through to the 430-cell # AND the ST corporate office in Miami. ‘Take the battery out and put it back in.’ Yeah, ok. ‘Try *22890.’ I DID! ‘OK, try *22801’ It’s asking for my ST phone # which has not been issued yet. ‘OK, try *228.’ SAME THING. ‘uh uh, something something 24 hours.’ Yeah right. I don’t have much faith after reading what I found after googling this problem. Not just this site but many others. So, I guess tomorrow I will try to activate it again. Going back to Walmart if this isn’t working. Already sent my issue to the BBB. I advise everyone to do the same. Maybe we’ll all see this on Yahoo news tomorrow. Good luck everyone. Don’t take this laying down. We need to fight this so more innocent people don’t get had. There is no place in this economy for this to be acceptable.

I called the number on the refill card when I could not get on the website. I was answered right away and followed the prompts and entered my service pin on the card. The voice confirmed my phone number and my service code and said my service would be updated in 5 min. Did not get an update text or email in the last half hour. I did my update at 11:50 pm. Service and refills have been great from my 451c in the two months I have had the phone. Also have a Net 10 phone and no problems there in 2 months. I have been refilling the day before expire. I don’t think only getting 29 days of service is so good but someone online said to refill before it expires.

OK, I finally just received my first call since no service all day–about 30 minutes ago. So, it seems that they are working at getting everybody back on ASAP. I am glad I don’t have to wait another day without service, however, I hope they don’t disconnect me again!! Will let you know if any further problems occur!! I hope you all get ur service back up and running ASAP also!! I think they got enough slack from everyone shouting complaints everywhere across the Internet and huge amounts of phone calls from many unhappy customers. Again, I am praying they don’t disconnect me ever again. I have never had this problem with ST and hope it will not happen again. We’ll see!! 5 stars for now!! I am able to do both incoming and outgoing calls now.

Well no one really knows whats going on . I work in the electronics dept. at walmart and they haven’t told us anything about what is going on. We had to learn from the customers ( thats sad as hell ) and by calling and waiting on hold myself. You would think being exclusive to walmart they would have told us something by now. or maybe the higher ups at wally world just don’t give a damn. however , I can reason to say that because of the high volume of calls we are getting that a storwide memo will be out by morning giving us excuses to feed to the customers. I have loved this service plan and the only problem i have ever had with it is customer service , till now. better fix it soon .

I just wanted to thank everyone on helping my decision to NOT get this phone I was thinking wow this is too good to be true..the $45.00 UNlimited plan..and all this would be better then the $100.00 a month I am spending now right? Well at least with the customer Service I have now it is not a hassle to get things done and well I have a phone and in an emergency I have a phone. So all in all there is no comparison. I will be staying with the more expensive service cuz unfortunately this is too good to be true. Thanks again all.

This service is fine, with me as I took a new number, I think alot of problems arise when people try to port their old phone numbers to the new service. Dont do it if you can help it. Just take a new number. I have had no problems and better service than go phone by far .My ONLY gripe is that I wish they would add international text … and I dont mean just Mexico either,,international text to anywhere would be very helpfull.

Well i made the switch! Ok, the phone itself, cheap but serves the purpose of talk & text just fine. Now here goes the the BUT!!!!!!!!!!!! THE MOST FOOLISH THING YOU CAN DO IS TO CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THING FOR A MINUTE YOU ARE GOING TO GET ANYTHING CLOSE TO CUSTOMER SERVICE! IT IS A CALL CENTER IN A SOUTH AMERICAN SETTING, WHERE NO ONE SPEAKS ENGLISH AS A 1ST LANGUAGE. Now don’t take this the wrong way but if you intend to sell a product in bulk mass to ENGLISH SPEAKING AMERICANS you might want to consider a little actual ENGLISH!!!!!!!! Well if you can get thru that still don’t expect help, they are DRONES with no clue. Phone and service are fine, the customer service will make a PASTOR lose his religion!!!

To tyanne sometimes that announcement–when I know I got minutes on my phone says …Welcome to Verizon your account has a zero balance…..All you got to do is hang up & make your call again & it goes right through….it’s just a glitch in the system that’s all. I hope this helps you. I’ve had Straight Talk since Jan 2010 that’s the only glitch I have since I been with Straight Talk.

I had to deal with customer service a few times, and it was not terrible (but I have a fair amount of patience). Customer service aside, I have had no problems with the phone service. I was hesitant at first, but ordered phones through the website, and had my Alltel numbers transferred over. Took a few hours longer on my wife’s phone then on mine, but no big deal. I’d give it 5 stars but I have had an issue with downloading ringtones. Not a big deal since I keep my phone on vibrate. They say the minutes and text allowances don’t carry over, but ours have since the start. We cut our Alltel bill in half, and you’d never know the difference except for the minutes left announcement. It was a good move for us.

I just switched to ST from AT&T after my 2 years was up. Bought my phone yesterday May 1st model r355c. Set up took only 15 mins online. Made my 1st text message within 5 mins after set-up and it works great. I decided to go with the $30 plan. I dont use my phone much so I flet this was the best for me. Overall I am happy with the quality of the phone.. I really do not think it can be beat for the price. Call quality has been great.. With AT&T I have spent as long as 3 days with out any service where I live..Rural Alabama. I never got more then 2 bars when I did have service. ST’s coverage has been OUTSTANDING so far. text and picture message speeds are very fast. Web speeds are not that great. The included ring tones are more the enough for me. I like my phone to actually RING when I get a call. I have no need to download any others. Phone only has 55mb of internal memory so getting a micro sd card is almost a must. I use a 1gb card that seems to more then enough. The phones camera is excellent for what it is.. Its a PHONE not a digital camera, so you can not expect it to take pictures that would win any prizes. If you are looking for a reasonably priced alternative to a contract plan ST is the way to go. Anyone thinking of going with ST then you MUST remember that there phones are not SMART PHONES.. they don’t run apps, they don’t get instant e-mail notifications. They DO offer good service at GOOD PRICES. The choice is yours.. choose wisely….

I switched to Straight Talk from Verizon and my wife switched from T Mobile. I got the Samsung Finesse and my wife got the Samsung R355C. Both phones are great, my wife loves hers and I really like the Finesse, it is a very well thought out phone with nice features. Even though you have to buy your phones outright, you will save HUGE amounts of money in the long run. For unlimited call, text and data I am paying half of what I would of payed on my previous plan, and that would’nt of included unlimited calls. I can honestly say this is the best cell phone company out there, You can’t beat the prices and the coverage and service is outstanding! I have dealt with the customer service 3 times and I have no complaints about the experience. I feel bad for people paying $90 and over for a call, text and data plan. I will be using Straight Talk from here on out. I am passing my experiences to everyone I know and have had so many realize and go to Straight Talk, it’s a win win situation! Do it, you will not regret it!

I am laughing at all the people complaining about customer service. Most all companies use other countries for customer service calls GET OVER IT! It saves money. Also everyone pretty much knows that MOST of the time only people that want to whine and complain go online looking to leave a review. So after all that, I can honestly say Straight Talk is the best bang for your buck out there. Great voice quality, great service area, great data, great phones, great PRICE! Stop whining and complaining, or better yet go back to some a 2 year contract and pay twice as much for less. Who knows maybe you will get lucky and talk to someone without an accent.

I have been on straight talk for 3 mos now and am very happy with the service. I bought the Samsung slider phone, since it has a bigger keypad(I’m over 40 so I needed BIG letters!)I was with ATT for about 9 years and finally made the break from a contract in a belt-tightening move. Here are the good points: It is very cost effective-so far I have been able to use only the $30 dollar/mo plan. I was paying a discounted rate of $80/mo for my IPhone service. I have good coverage-I live in the Southeast and verizon has excellent coverage here. You need to check the coverage map to see if you live a a place that doesn’t get good coverage. You are doomed to frustation if you go with a service that doesn’t have good coverage in your area. The phone choices are good for people who view a phone as ‘a handy device to text and make calls’ These are not smart phones, are not trendy, and do not have lightening fast web browsing. Some cons: Customer service does tend to be slow. I noticed that most of the people whe were so negative about the wait times tended to be posting around the first of the month. That is when almost all customer service centers are the busiest. When I switched my parents over to straight talk last mo we did the switch over on the 9th. I only had to wait about 20 mins. They ported over 2 numbers and the process was completed on both phones within 2 hours The phones are not smart phones, are not trendy, and are not great for web browsing. If you have to have the most current technology, need a ‘cool-looking’ phone, or want to have tons of ring-tones, etc. this service might now be for you. So far, I have been very happy with the service. I am saving over $50/mo. My parents will be saving $20/mo over their family plan and getting more minutes and now can even text (once they learn how of course!)

Straight Talk works on the Verizon Network. If you live in an area where Verizon service is not strong you will not have luck with this phone. One thing many of these people who have commented on it being ‘horrible’ should have found out before. I switched because Verizon is the best service in my area and I was tired of paying an extensive phone bill every month. I got the Samsung slider phone (i believe its called the Messenger 2) and I absolutely love it. I’m happy with the service plus the $45 for unlimited everything. The mobile web does run a little slower and it is not made to access every website like you would find with a blackberry phone. But all in all Straight talk is an excellent choice for an affordable, no contract cell phone plan. I am on my phone all day every day for my job and couldn’t be happier that I switched to a more affordable and better plan. You really can’t beat the price and as long as you live where there are Verizon towers you will have great service.

Excellent!

For those who have questions about getting ringtones and using facebook on your mobile web…. For facebook you go to www.facebook.com on your mobile web, type in your user name and password. The first time you try it will not let you in. You will have to verify on facebook on your PC that it is your cell phone trying to access your account. Then you will be able to get on your FB anytime you want via your phone. Additionally, when on mobile web facebook you will see the option to have new messages and alerts forwarded to your phone. You can choose that if you want. Ringtones – The company will only allow you to download from their website (which is expensive). I use a better option. Get a micro sd for your phone. You can get a 4GB for around $10 now. First, put the microsd in your phone (see manual to find the slot) then go to settings, media card and FORMAT the card for your phone. Next, put it in the bigger SD adapter (you’ll know what i’m talking about when you buy a microSD) **** Some laptops with media card readers are unable to read the phone formatting. Idk why, but you can easily get a USB SD card reader adapter for $6.****** Third, go to www.makeownringtone.com Here you can upload anysong you want and create a ringtone out of any clip of the song. Its fast, free and easy. Ringtones should be around 18 seconds. Then, save it to your computer. It will open in itunes or wmp or whatever you use for music playing. Finally, go into your ‘my music’ folder and locate the ringtones under their associate artist. Click ‘Move file to’ and select the RINGTONES folder on your microSD card. If your phone has the mp3 player you can copy all your music and have it on your phone whenever you want. Plus you can create playlists on your phone easily. Hope that helps everyone out!! Remember that ST works on the Verizon network. If you live where Verizon doesn’t work well, you won’t have service. Do your research before purchasing a phone.

You can set up mobile IM forwarding for you yahoo, skype, aim ect by going to the options/preferences/settings section of those programs on your PC. You will be ale to respond from you phone to whatever messages you receive. If you would like to recieve you emails via text message you can forward them by going to the setting section of your email account, fowrading & pop3, then you’ll see something that says ‘forward mail to (enter email address here). Your straight talk phones ’email’ address is 10digitnumberTo vtext.com You will not be able to reply those those emails, however. You can also set a filter when you set up the forwarding. the filter will allow you to prevent inbox messages that are junk from coming to your phone.

As person who depends on my cellphone for work, I would not recommend using ST. It’s been almost a week, I’m still having issues porting my phone. ST has no record of my ph. number or the serial number on the phone. Customer service is horrible and inept. I spent over one hour with customer service being bounced around to different reps. with no solution other than to wait for 24, 48 or 72 to have the line ported. After waiting 72 hours, I still have the same problem. I spent another hour with customer service in Miami with the same type of incompetent customer service. The reps. are no more than people reading off a computer screen. They have no authority to resolve any technical issue. I think that the cell phone service pricing is so attractive that ST doesn’t care. The reps can only handle account questions but if you have technical phone issues, you are out of luck.

After about five of my wife’s family members switched from Verizon to StraightTalk and loved it, I made the switch and purchased a Straight Talk phone a week ago. None of my family members have had any problems with straight talk, but I have had a horrible experience with their Customer Service. The phone has deactivated three times in one week. I had transferred my number over to ST and each time the phone deactivated, I got a different telephone number. The first time I was able to get my transferred number back. Now I am in the process of holding the phone for a second time waiting on someone to pick up. The first time I waited in vain for over an hour for someone to pick up. I have now been waiting 20 minutes for a 10 minute hold time. My opinion – THIS SUCKS!!!!

I HAVE SWITCHED FROM VERIZON WHERE I WAS PAYING $145 FOR 2 LINES (NOT INCLUDING ANY OVERAGES, TAXES, ADD ONS, ETC). NOW I’M PAYIN $90 FOR BOTH LINES THROUGH STRAIGHT TALK AND AM NOT HAVING ANY ISSUES W/ TEXT OR VOICE. JUST RECENTLY MY PIC MSGN ISN’T WORKING BUT I CALLED CS AND THE REP I SPOKE WITH TROUBLSHOOTED AND ENDED UP GIVING ME AN ‘INTERACTION’ NUMBER TO GIVE WHEN I CALL BACK IF THE PROBLEM ISN’T RESOLVED W/I 24 HOURS. I CAN’T SAY I NEVER HAD NETWORK ISSUES W/ VERIZON SO THIS WAS EXPECTED. ESPECIALLY BEING THAT ST OPERATES OFF OF VERIZON’S NETWORK. DEFINITELY A GREAT SAVINGS. THUMBS UP TO STRAIGHT TALK FROM ME.

I have the Samsung slider w/the keyboard and I love my phone! I was with T-mobile for est 3 years, having a sidekick and a G1. The only thing I miss is the internet. These phones have a browser, but I like looking at a mini computer screen, but thats not worth paying $100+ every month. Does anyone have the ‘blackberry’ phone, Im looking to upgrade to that. They didnt have that one or the touch screen when I bought my phone. Im hoping they keep coming out with new phones, because I get board easy with my phones. I would suggest the service to anyone looking to save money. The customer service is bs, but I’ve only had to call a few times..I just buy my unlimited card and plug the numbers in on the website. My phone is great and I havent had any problems, for all that are complaining about your phone, you get what you pay for. You buy a cheap $40 phone what do you expect?! Over all, Im happy. Straight Talk is taking over the world..but what do you expect..theyre teamed with Wal-Mart!

It’s exactly what my hubby and I need. We’re not looking for the most zomgawesome phone, or a bazillion apps – just a *phone*. And that’s what it gives us. I use the $30 a month plan, and have never run out of minutes and texts. It’s perfect. My hubby uses the $45 a month plan because he runs a business and never knows how much he’ll need.

I have the ‘blackberry’ lookalike.. I have had it for about 48 hours now i switched from a dare..no probs with it or cs.. its great for fast texting and ease of use while driving.. good lil camra but no videos, voice recording,or reacurring event in the calander, cant view a pic text while on the phone but can check if just a plain text and can text back (i think), text dont show who they are from until you open them no matter what and you cant scroll from text to text in the receiveing box only in your sent box and in drafts, 160 character max in texting sending or recieving.. looking at pics is very slow and small no editing, Pros: good music player, great texting fun, no droped calls, dependable access to the internet takes about 20 upto 30 seconds to load, quick keys to the calander is handy, contacts are blue tooth portable, its got all your basic essentials.. my 8 year old son had it figured out in under 20 mins got bored and moved on lol

I will have to say that I’ve had my phone for about four months and have enjoyed it until now. I think some of you 4 & 5 star reviews will feel the same way if you ever have a technical issue like I am having at this time. My phone has been messed up for a little over 24 hrs and I can’t even call customer service. Can’t do anything so I am as we speak using someone else’s phone to call customer service. I have been waiting for over 2 hours to talk to someone! This is totally ridiculous. This company is a multi-million dollar company and there is no reason why they shouldn’t have someone answering these calls in a timely manner! They could at least offer online support or something, but they don’t even offer an email. This is crazy.

I wish there were a 0 star rating. This is the WORST phone ever. We had 2 phones and EVERY incoming call would disconnect after approx 35 seconds. I contacted their customer service, in IDK what country, 5 times and was told that the problem was fixed. They did not reimburse me for any of the 45 to 50 minute calls for service nor did the problem ever get resolved. Needless to say, I no longer have StraightTalk. If you only text, its okay, but in an emergency you would be very very sorry.

To Debbie I have the Samsung 355 and love it and it is the only phone of theirs that I do not have dropped calls with. I do not use the web hardly at all, so I can help with the Facebook, but if you do find out how it works, let me know. I can help on the ringtones. Go to www.mytinyphone.com, find the ringtone you want. Where it says ‘Send this ringtone to your phone’ under that you select your carrier ‘Verizon Wireless’ (not Verizon Wireless 2 or 3), then enter your phone number, ‘send as web link’, then ‘send’. Wait for it to come to your phone (less than a minute), then once it comes up, go under ‘options’, then ‘extract’, then select the one that starts out ‘wap.mytinyphone.com’, then you click on ‘Download’ or highlight the name of the ringtone, then once it has downloaded ‘Save’. Then just go in and save it as your ringtone for the phone. Now in your ringtones, it will be named as ‘file’, if you want to rename it then this is what you do: Go to your ringtones and highlight ‘file’, then ‘options’, then ‘rename’, then just type in the name of the ringtone, then ‘ok’. You are Done!!. I hope this helps. If you need anymore help or find out how to do Facebook, then contact me at gsipe09To aol.com

Better signal than verizon, ATT, us cellular, ntelos, sprint, everything. I had no problems getting through to customer service the one time I called and only called becasue I was ussure about how to refill account. The phone isnt hi tech but it gets the job done. Oh my… Yes see now there is for sure an issue with this company… Has anyond failed to notice ‘POWERED BY TRAC PHONE’ on the browser??? Yes thats right the Home of the $10 Dollar phone through LG. Okay so in all honesty did no one look at the links??? One more…. MY LABEL FROM FED EX http://i39.tinypic.com/zlerf8.jpg Now I blocked my order number obviously….stalker. Okay so Service has been good… Phones Really are bad…Well at least the LG220. The point is not how much we spend people its the fact that there is a product that is being sold that does not work… I really hate spending 50 bucks 3 times for a phone. I DON’T CARE IF IT’S TEN BUCKS IT’S SUPPOSE TO WORK. While a few of you are saying ‘You get what you pay for…’ I wonder if your filthy rich??? I am not….I can however afford to spend 50 bucks off and on a phone every few months but now its just getting crazy… If the customer service was nice and apologetic I could overlook the flaws somewhat but really its just awful. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO………… On that note If you can’t afford to replace your phone bi-monthly or you don’t like being screwed go somewhere else…..

To be honest I would not even give them a star. The phones are pieces of crap and the support people obviously need more trainning. They put you on hold for hours and keep transferring you to other people that know less then the person before. For the first month or so it may be worth it but if your phone has problems or you get no service then you are screwed and they will tell you they cant do anything for you. so overalll i would not waste my time or money!!!

Recently I came to realize the sham that Straight Talk is selling when I had a little problem to be resolved by their customer service. I have 2 phone services with Straight phone. One for me and one for my daughter. Mine was an auto refill for $45. And my daughters was A $30 card refill bought at Walmart. My phone was credited with both services meaning that I was to pay $75 for a one month service. I called the customer service which I am sure is situated somewhere in Mumbai for them to correct the mistake and after speaking for over an hour. There was no resolutions reached. No other higher authority to talk to. I am now saddled with a $75 phone tag for a service that is supposed to cost $45. That is Straight Talk service for those looking for a cheap phone service. Buyers beware. Off course I am cancelling my service at the end of the $75 service. This is the future that awaits users of Straight Talk

I’ve posted this before and I thought I’d post it again just so everyone is clear: Most people have zero billing issues when they refill minutes using the card they bought at Walmart. Check out the posts on this site and you’ll come to the same conclusion. So, what I’m really suggesting is that you can choose NOT to use the auto-refill option on your credit card. When your 30 days is coming to an end, go to Walmart, buy a $30 or $45 minute card, go online and plug in the code from the card.

Have had the service for half a year so far. No problems. Price is very reasonable, having statewide coverage – no having to worry about having roaming minutes for areas not covered by previous wireless carrier. The web took 24 hours to be fully activated – I just gave it time and tried later. If you like GSM, I noticed that Net10 has an unlimited plan at net10unlimited.com Coverage is better than other GSM carriers and there is no contract. Net10 is StraighTalk’s sister company. In these economic times, good to have low cost cell plans available.

I have been on the phone with them for 3 hours where they had me put ‘codes’ into my phone and now my phone wont work at all and they are telling me that I need to go buy a new one and that they wont refund my money for the phone that they caused to lock up or the monthly service that I havent been able to use. I decided to move to ST and I did quite a bit of research because if ST can offer this, WHY can’t the other service providers offer the same? It’s the same equipment and technology!? I’m done giving money for fees and reclaim charges. I would rather spend the 90 dollars and have two phones, no contract and talk as much as I like and text (if I have to, I don’t like texting) than pay for a single phone under a 2 year contract. Some of these reviews are ridiculous… if you are going to buy a cheaper phone you get what you pay for. I use it for texting which I don’t do much of and calling. THAT’S IT! I don’t need useless ringtones… And if you want a ringtone you can just record a song you like and put it as a ringtone. I don’t care for the web browsing either… i don’t use facebook or twitter… The closest thing to technology I can get is the computer and a phone. This phone is meant to be simple with a few extra features. The phone is EASY TO ACTIVATE! If you can’t activate it you have issues. When we first got it it was late and it wouldn’t activate but once morning hit it took two seconds for it to work. We also talked to customer service one time because our dog chewed on the card and we couldn’t figure out a few of the numbers. The man was friendly, good English, and took us less than 30 minutes to get it straightened out. We dropped Verizon because they kept surprising us with outrages feees so we switched to Straighttalk. We live in the middle of NOWHERE and we still have bars! If you like it simple buy this if not… get iPhone…pay a boat load of money and have trouble using worthless features that you have to pay for most of them.

I have read several comments about how people who rely on prepaid phone services are ‘low-class’ and ‘can’t get a regular phone.’ I especially dislike the suggestion that such people are ‘financially inept.’ Have you actually priced regular phone service? Right now, my husband and I are on a shared plan with another couple, because that was the cheapest option for us all. We currently pay over $70 per month for both phones and only get half of 1500 minutes to use a month. No texting, no Data, no pictures. Nothing else. For only $90 per month (for both of us) we can have unlimited EVERYTHING. For 60 per month we can have more minutes than we have now, plus texting and Data. Now you tell me who is the ‘financially inept’ one in this scenario?

I am considering going with ST when my current contract runs out. Other family members use ST now, and love it. Personally, I take offense to the comments I have read from people that have implied that those of us that choose to use prepaid carriers are just low class, financially inept, and intellectually challenged. I am so sick of being stuck in a contract when I’m getting crappy service. I use T-mobile right now, and I can’t wait to stop using them. They have the worse coverage I’ve ever had. Dead zones? I’m lucky to ever find a live zone. I can be sitting in the same spot, and one minute I’ll have a little signal, and the next minute I won’t. Oooh, and I really like this one… my phone won’t ring, but I’ll get a notification that I have a voice mail. So, I can’t get the call, but I can receive the voice mail? And fees out the yazoo! About a quarter of my bill is fees. Don’t you ever wonder why they make you committ to a contract?? If they had great service, they wouldn’t need a contract to get people to stay with them. I’ve had to deal with my almost non existant service which is saturated with fees for almost two years now. Believe me, I can’t wait to try out ST, because if I don’t like it, I have the OPTION of going to another company. As for reviewing ST, my family members that are using it have not once been without signal, so far. And one them travels throughout the southeast every week on business. They had T-mobile too, by the way, and they are very happy now with ST.

DON’T GET THIS PHONE There is no such thing as Customer Service with Straight Talk. They may have Technical Service but it is certainly not Customer Service. It took 10 calls over 5 days and 4 hours of my time to get the phone activated properly. They said it was a rare problem but never offered a refund or a replacement phone even though I asked repeatedly. All the reps read from the same script and I would have to yell to get them to transfer me to a supervisor. They did replace the 5 lost days but won’t offer anything as compensation for the time and total aggravation I went through. This is not an exaggerated story nor am I ‘stupid’. The problem is with Straight Talk, not the customers.
