Zero starts is more live it. My service is very unreliable. I'm switching to another service ASAP. – At least 30% of my calls are dropped mid-call. – Sometimes the phone doesn't ring when people call me; it puts them straight through to voicemail. – Sometimes it tells INCOMING callers I have no minutes and it can't put the call through (Even though I have hundreds of minutes left). – Sometimes it tells me I have the wrong number of minutes, only for me to find out that I actually have very few left. – Sometimes it won't let me make an outgoing call, saying I have no minutes left when I actually have hundreds. – Sometimes voicemails don't show up in my voicemail box until days after they are left. – Sometimes it randomly hacks time off my minutes – minutes I did not use! – The customer service reps cannot speak adequate english to be able to understand and fix the problem. Supervisors are no better. They only know what the computerized scripts tell them to do. If their limited troubleshooting scripts do not reproduce or solve the problem, they just tell you that you don't have a problem. When you do, and the problems continue. HORRIBLE service. Run, don't walk, to another service.

To Sara. I have personally found it a seemless process to buy a renewal card from Walmart and plug in the code on the Website. As I've read in these posts, there have been issues with providing your credit card for the monthly billing. I'm going on my 5th month without a problem. I feel so bad for the others whom are having some real difficulties.

If you're having problems you should call Tracfone Headquaters before just giving up on such a good cell phone service and if they can't help you I'm sure they'll reimburse you. I've had ST for 2 months now and I haven't had any problems with anything not even CS the only reason I called tracfone headquaters is b/c ST couldn't take my call due to high volume calls and HQ picked up on the first ring and they speak clearer english than ST but I had no trouble understanding them either. Good luck!

I've had Straight Talk for a month now and I have to say that it works great. I have had no issues with it so far. I got the Samsung R451C, which is a decent basic phone with the $30 deal. I wish they had better phones, but what can you do…;can't have it all, right? I had the annoying balance message removed on a second attempt, by the way, the two times that I called customer service, they were very courteous and the waiting time was minimal.

Over the years I've been with Cingular/ATT, Sprint and Alltel postpaid…and Virgin Mobile for a back up phone…….and so far Straight Talk is every bit as good and even better than some. I didn't like the way Cingular/ATT voice service would get so garbled at times you would have to just hang up..several times during the day with calls. That's unacceptable. I live in rural Oklahoma and Sprint just doesnt cut it. In fact, I was with Sprint last but they sent me a nasty-gram because of my excessive roaming charges due to my phone always being in a roam mode at my house. Go one mile west of my house and it's fine…go figure. Alltel did pretty well in rural Oklahoma but when I traveled across the US I would get a lot of dead spots and have no service for hours at a time. Anyway, with Sprint sending me the letter about my roaming, I ported to Straight Talk and have excellent service in my rural area and in town. I'm coming from business phones that ran Widows Mobile, Palm and Blackberry and no the full Qwerty phones don't do all those phones did but I can txt, check email and open up doc and excel sheets through Gmail and the rest I can just go back to my laptop. The service is great so far.

SOLUTION TO STRAIGHT TALK CUSTOMER SERVICE PROBLEMS. I, too, have suffered through many of the same CS problems as the other reviewers. But there is a solution. The basic customer service call center is foreign based, for cost reasons. For the most part, these folks can solve your problem. But on too many occasions, they can’t. I had billing problems. Got multiple billed. CS wouldn’t remove the multiple billings. So here’s what I did. I did a WhoIs internet search. StraightTalk and Net10 are both owned by Tracfone Wireless. Tracfone is headquartered in Miami, FL. Seaching the Florida Secretary of State’s website, I discovered who the principal officers were. Took a stab at the president’s email address. It worked. He got back to me in minutes, assigning one of his executive staff to solving my problem. Got an email from that guy. Then got phone calls from his exec asst. Two of them. She solved the problem and removed the multiple bills within an hour or two. These people have a $1.5 billion business to protect. They don’t want 2%-7% of prospective customers not to sign up for their service because of hardware, software or billing screw ups on the front end of their customer service operation, which result in negative reviews and lost revenues. They want to know about these problems so that they can solve them right away. The foreign CS guys are script driven, without a lot of authority. The website for email purposes that I would contact if the foreign guys can’t resolve a problem would be www.tracfone.com.

I have had ST for three months. The phone and the calls have all been five stars. The problem is in refilling the time cards each 30 days. My account has said it is in the process of activating for two months. Last month I was able to put another refill on with about 3-4 hours of trouble. This month I have been without phone service for four days. I tried to refill online and it says, ‘your phone is the process of activating.' I tried to refill with the phone by adding airtime and it states, ‘ unavailable.' I called the 877-430-2355 number and all the lines were busy to to an ‘unusual' high volume of calls. So I never got through even though I called 14 times. I also attempted the online refill 10 times. Finally got through to a person on Easter Sunday evening. The ESL person was hard to understand but kept repeating, ‘We apologize for the problem.' I was very angry and frustrated with her and repeatedly expressed this. At one point, the rep stated I had no service plan for more than 30 days, which is not true and I have the card as proof. After 20 minutes on the phone, I was was given a ‘ticket' number, which was actually a case number that would be followed up on for resolution in 24 hours. I want to keep this service because it works in the rural areas I frequent, cost is low, and the phone is ok for my needs. They really need to fix their tech stuff. I would not advise anyone to use this service.

I have had strasight talk for only about two weeks.. the $129 phone I did not care for so I switched to the $99 samsung with full keyboard and so far I love it.. I do wish the ringer was louder, but the customer service and reception has been great! If You want a miniature laptop as a cell phone, straigt talk is not for you.. but if you just want unlimited simple web browsing, talk, text and pic messaging.. in my opinion its awesome! Also, I have to say that I am very disapointed to see how many people on here slam ‘foreigners'.. that is so narrow minded and inmature.. Our ancestors are all from other countries.. so why would you say things like that? Think about it …

I just have to say that after reading so many negative comments here, I was a bit afraid to try Straight Talk period. The low prices convinced me to at least give it a shot. So glad I did! I am 100% totally satisfied with what they have to offer for just $30 a month. Where else can you get this many mins., texts, AND the internet?? I bought a Samsung R451C & I love it. I didn't mind paying $100 for the phone since I would be saving so much on the service. I have clear reception & have not had 1 dropped call. Everything is just fine, & I am just as happy as when I had my over-priced service from another provider. I highly recommend ST. I honestly feel that a lot of the problems are because of where people live, as far as the dropped calls, etc. & are isolated instances. Give this a try if you want to save some money without big sacrifices. And as far as customer service….Haven't had to use them yet. But I have had foreign reps I have had to deal with, where they couldn't be understood to save my life, from lots of other service providers, & I had a terrible time communicating with them. So please…. People, for those of you who are dogging this company….don't act like ST is the only company who happens to employ those with accents that are hard to understand. For the most part, I doubt many of us will be dealing with customer service at ST that often anyway.

No problems with the service, but the customer service people are TERRIBLE. When you do get through to someone they keep you on the phone for HOURS because they are incompetent. I purchased an unlimited plan for the month on their web site like I normally do. Instead they give me the 30 dollar all you need plan. So I called and they admitted their mistake. Instead of fixing it, they had to refund my money and make me pay again. So I did. And the same thing happened. TWICE! So I had to make 3 payments. FINALLY I decided to DEMAND a supervisor and he fixed it in 10 minutes, while the regular agents kept me on the line for hours.

I bought three phones from straight talk, purchased three minutes cards..After a few weeks one of the phones was unworkable.. I then called straight talk and was told that the number to that phone, my phone had been transfered and I could not get it back.and in order to get the phone to work again I would need to purchase another minutes card even though my minutes card had two weeks left.. They recognized that it was them who had made the mistake but refused to turn the phone back on and return my minutes.. I was told this by two service representatives, the first one was very rude, second one was stern on not helping me, the supervisor told me the same but added that I am at the point of no return regarding my phone number and minutes.. His name was Jim, and refused to give his last name..

I have had no problems with my straight talk phone. The reception is good, which is expected since they run off of Verizon. You really can't beat the price. The only downfall is the outdated phones and the outsourced customer service. For someone who just needs a basic phone with unlimited everything…;and is willing to give up the latest and greatest technology, STRAIGHTTALK will be just fine.

The website doesn't let me add minutes to either at this point although I had bought cards for both and entered them in when I activated them online. Really wondering if I made a big mistake.

I purchased my Samsung Finesse through Walmart's Site to Store shipping and picked it up a week before it was supposed to arrive. My number port and activation took about 5 minutes(on Tuesday.) My reception is great and I'm loving every bit of it! The Finesse has a lot of great features that I didn't expect it to have, such as voice command/voice dialing. I have the $30 All You Need plan. The recording of how many hours and minutes I have that plays right before I place a call got annoying so I called customer service to remove it. The man I got had a slight accent and first thought I wanted it turned on, even though it already was. When he told me that he turned it on, I told him I wanted it off. He apologized and corrected his mistake. The call took easily 6 minutes(And yes I had to wait about 1 minute to get ahold of a representative.) The only downfall for me is that I have been texting way more than I should be for each day. I think I may get the $45 Unlimited plan next month. If anyone has a question, please ask.

So far with st I bought my daughter a phone at walmart for her bday and she tryed to activate it and st told her something was wrong with the phone and that walmart had to do something to it before it would work? Walmart said they just use that as an excues for walmart to take the blame? walmart said there was nothing they could do to fix the phone or make it work. they also said when they tried to call st before for help that they get droped calls from st costomer service. which isn't good. Any way walmart just let us get another phone, which the refunded us for the phone that st said had something wrong with it and we bought another phone and walmart called them to make sure it could be actavited. SO I suggest to anyone who is going to buy a st phone you better have walmart call st to activate it cause you coulod get home and call them and have them tell you that walmart didn't do something right when you bought the phone! I mean what could walmart do to make the phone not work? I think they were right about st not wanting to deal with it so they past the buck to walmart. and in the long run i would think that st will loose money on phones they sell at walmart that don't or can't be activated. Anyway, my phone and my husband phone didn't have any problem getting it activated. But another problem I am having with st is, they sent me an email telling me about my plan, saying that i had 1000 min plan and I bought the unlimted plan for 45.00 !! so i just found out tonight reading my email from st . so i will have to call them tomorrow! wish me luck with st's cs departemnt, i've heard alot of complaints about there customer service and about getting cut off or droped calls when tryign to talk to them!

the reception on this phone is just fine in my area, just like my old verizon phone…in fact because they(ST) purchases their service off of verizon or whoever operates in your area…kind of a wholesale deal. The only reason I know this is because of ST's horrible Customer Service. and problems using your phone with a new card each month…you will in fact have to call in each month to reactivate your phone and spend some time on the phone with people who don't speak english well, and don't hesitate to hang up when they get frustrated…which is why you have so many dropped calls.

I've used ST since the summer of 2009, shortly after the service first became available. I have a Motorola V3A. (They may not be selling this phone any longer via ST). Most of the time, this service has worked as-advertised for me. However, my issue is that the phone (or service) has, at times, occasionally lapsed into routinely dropping calls about 38-40 seconds into a call. I am unsure if this is a phone problem (i.e. a Verizon problem of sorts), or a problem with my phone. I have previously spent HOURS on the phone with ST customer service. I have even had this problem elevated and received a ticket problem number. The problem existed almost non-stop shortly after I got the phone. It then cleared up for a number of months (it appeared to me it was tied somewhat to NEW callers not having never having called me before with ST service). Then, the problem went away for a number of months, and, recently, came back for a few weeks (NOT related to brand new caller calling me). IF this continues, I may seriously consider dropping ST. I'd like to hear / read about anyone else who has experienced similar problems with their ST phone or service. It would help me decide if ST is worth it for the long run, or maybe another prepaid provider would be better. Having calls dropped for reasons that are NOT related to me being in a ‘dead' zone whatsoever in this manner is very very annoying. I used to recommend ST to others. I am hesitant to do so now. I have not yet dropped ST , but I CAN get other comparably priced service that does NOT drop calls like this.

I have been with ST since July and went through 3 phones (Razor, Samsung 451 and Samsung Finesse (touch screen)) and everything worked perfectly but I had one problem with each one, 90% of the time I would have dropped incoming calls in the first 30 seconds. I kept calling ST and they updated the software, check the line out, checked out my ported number and test called me and everything checked out fine. So nothing they did fixed the problem. So I left to go to Verizon prepaid and had dropped calls with them and was paying more for less. So if I was going to have dropped calls anyway, I would just come back to ST and pay less and get a lot more. So I took the chance and bought their newest phone, Samsung 355 blackberry. I have had it a week now and so far, I have NOT had ANY dropped calls whatsoever. Usually by now it would have dropped several, several times. I am almost afraid to talk about that I may jinx it. But the phone is really simple to use and the buttons are bigger than most blackberries, it's very lightweight. So far, it is the phone to get if you are having problems with dropped calls. The phone cost $129.88. any questions just email me at gsipe09To aol.com

I bought a Straight Talk phone for my Step-daughter and could not be any happier with it. We were paying so much more with the normal prepaid way. Last night she entered some kind of code and locked the phone from making phonecalls. I called customer service and only waited about 8 minutes and then a very nice lady answered the phone and helped me with everything i needed. VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE! Love it!

My computers are still not charging the phone. I installed the PC Studio software on the computers; they only recognize the memory card as a “Removable Disk” but not the phone itself. Therefore the modem option of the phone cannot work. I thought the problem was with the cable but it looks like it is on my phone because everybody’s computer recognizes and charges their phone with no problem however, mine is acting up. So, any suggestion why it’s like that? Thanks everyone.

I am totally satisfied with Straight Talk. I bought the Samsung 451 phone and ported my phone number over from Net 10, it took 5 minutes and the port was done and my phone was working properly. You cannot beat the price compared to other cell phone plans…Thank you Walmart and Tracfone for this wonderful, affordable alternative!

You wont.. its a prepaid service this is how they keep the price so low…bottom line for functional cell and txt service you can't go wrong… Go straight talk!!!!

HI PAUL I WAS LOOKING ON YOUTUBE LAST NIGHT AND I FOUND A VIDEO & IT SHOWED HOW TO USE UR PHONE AS A MODEM BY DOING WHAT THE VIDEO SHOW YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET UR COMPUTER TO RECOGNIZE UR PHONE. LIKE I POSTED BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO CHARGE MY PHONE USING THE USB CABLE BUT THAT'S ALL I COULD DO. AFTER WATCHING THE VIDEO AND DOWNLOADING THE SAMSUNG DRIVER TO MY LAPTOP IT NOW RECOGNIZES MY PHONE AND I'M ABLE TO SYNC FILE USING MY USB CABLE. MAKE SURE UR PHONE IS IN THE MASS STORAGE MODE BEFORE TRYING TO SNYC UR FILE OTHERWISE IT MIGHT NOT WORK. IF I FIND ANYTHING ESLE I'LL POST IT…HOPE THIS HELPS

I bought a LG phone at Wal-Mart. From day one the phone was defective. I had to keep calling Staright Talk customer service over and over to ever get anything done. I wasn't real happy about that. Not to meantion buying a defective phone in the first place. Straight Talk has agreed to replace the defective phone for me. I will wait and see. Not happy with the Service thus far. I do feel that once Straight Talk replaces my defective phone then, I might be satisfied with Straight Talk. I hope this does not happen to anyone else. God Bless and thanks.

To Juan C Yes you can keep your existing current number when you switch to ST. You can port it over and you will just need to follow the instructions when you are activating your new phone on their website or call customer website and they will help activate it for you and port your number over.

Hello there! Despite all the unhappy and disappointed reviews, I took my chance and went for Straight Talk. I would just like to point out that I AM A VERY HAPPY CAMPER!! I ordered my Samsung Finesse using Walmart's Site to Store shipping. It actually came in one week ahead of schedule, which makes me very pleased. I was a bit sketchy before purchasing my new ST phone. I had read good and bad reviews, which had made me a bit nervous. And so I bought the Finesse about one week ago and picked it up today at my local Walmart. When I got home, I was a bit excited. I followed the instructions, puting the battery in, charging my phone and visiting the ST website. There I made an account, put all my info there and transferred my old Tracfone number over to Straight Talk. After filling out all of the info, I had to wait 5 minutes and then call a number from my new phone. I called the number, did the steps it told me to and WAALAA!! It work almost like magic! It was so easy and simple to do. I didnt't even have to call customer service. So I am using the $30 plan and am LOVING the texting and calling. The Internet was what I expected. It is good for simple browsing, but if you want more than that, then use a computer. I'll have to get used to a touch screen phone and it's mystical ways. The only thing that I don't like is that it tells you how many hours/minutes you have left each time before you make a call(but I can get that removed by calling customer service) and that you must choose the parcipient before you are able to type your text message. Overall, I am GLAD I made the switch to Straight Talk, even though this is my first day using it. I hope my experience is the same each day!

i was not happy with straight Talk because I bought a phone at Wal-Mart. Well as it turned the phone was defective from day one. I called Staright Talk and they said send the old phone in and we'll send you a new phone. All that sounds great but when your straight tlak phone won't ring anymore and straight tlak deactivated the phone then it was hard to loctae the straight tlak phone. I finally found the phone and do plan on sending it back to straight tlak for a phone that works. But since they did not do the right thing in the first place like just send me a phone that worked for free instead they gave me the run-a-round. I did not feel that the people at staight talk was right in dealing with me this wya since it was thier fault in the first place for selling DEFECTIVE phones. Hands down that's a dirty way to do bussiness. So if someone else out there has or will in the future buy a defective phone. Do not think that straight Talk will help you out unless you send the old defective phone back into them which to me. Sounds wrong all the way around. Straight Talk don't sell DEFECTIVE phones to begin with and if you do then be good enough to replace the phone instead of giving the customer a run-a-round. I give straight talk a 0 star because they just did not try to help me and thier customer service people are all rude at that since they did not try to make this right. Thank You.

I've had the Straight Talk service for a couple of months now and so far have been very happy with it. I initially had the low end LG flip phone ($39) and though a very basic phone it worked fine. I think I've only had one or two dropped calls and one of them was while driving through the mountains of western NC (using speakerphone.) I upgraded to the Samsung r451c messaging phone ($99) and have been very happy with this phone as well. I went to the website and performed the phone upgrade and everything went smoothly. So far I have not had to call customer service which is the most common complaint about the service I have seen. Call quality and service have been great. Main drawback from what I can see is that it's a basic service and the phones are very basic with no bells and whistles (especially when it comes to web.) But if you just want a good phone service at a good price honestly I don't think you can beat it.

The phones are mediocre, but we only use ours to talk and text, so we did'nt need anything fancy.

I've had Straight Talk for over a month now. Love my phone and calling plan, but Straight Talk customer service is hit or miss. I had to call four times – once from a different phone – and spend almost two hours on the phone with them to change my phone number. The first three times I called I got someone who couldn't understand English and kept reciting the same stock phrases over and over. Don't bother asking to speak to a manager/supervisor, because there are never any in the room. The fourth time I called, though, I got only people who were fluent and understandable in English. The first lady easily fixed some misspellings that were keeping me from accessing my account online. Then she transferred me to another woman who was able to change my phone number and remove the annoying ‘status message' before every call. If you are having trouble with customer service, I would advise calling back on another day. The day I got good CS was a Sunday. If the customer service was more consistent, I would give ST five stars.
