We live in a shallow, shallow world

this story in The New York Times about two friends who rarely speak now because they don’t have the same cell service provider. Seriously, are you kidding? We find it highly suspicious that friends would cease talking just because the calls are no longer free. Was there even a friendship there in the first place? Plus, don’t most carriers that offer mobile-to-mobile minutes — which the friends in question were previously using to communicate — offer unlimited nights and weekends, too? Thankfully, Consumerist polled their readers on this issue, and the current results say that 87.2% of respondents don’t shun friends on other carriers. Whew. That gives us a little more faith in humanity. [The New York Times] via [Consumerist]]]>
